Hello everyone,
Keeping things short here:
I want my phone's battery to last longer than 7 hours no use (with decent signal).
Running the latest Myn's rom.
I'm in love with Sense3.0, tried Sense3.5 and I love it (kinda prefer 4g for use at home, so I'm not using 3.5 yet)
I love Sense 3.0. Would Desensifying (getting rid of Sense) Improve my battery life DRASTICALLY? I mean, how heavy is Sense anyway?
I'm using myns ROM with tiamats sence kernal and wow I'm getting awesome battery life. It's almost unreal with tiamats kernal. Try it out and see what you think

The less processes you have running, the longer the phone will operate.
Enable "power efficiency" & you could also adjust a "power saver" condition in the power settings on a Sense based ROM.
On a Senseless ROM you could run longer but again, it all depends on what's running, Lengthen the time for your synced items or updated those items manually & you'll be fine.
7 hours(no use)!!! That's horrible. You might want to wipe everything and reflash. I haven't tried Myns ROM but I seriously doubt it sucks that much
No use 7 hours? I get 24+ hours on myns if I don't touch the phone.

Even with steady use (goofing off at work) I feel like I must get more than 7 hours. I get much more than that normally. I'm using viperROM which throttles the CPU based on the screen's on/off state.
You must have an app keeping your phone awake. The Evo can get around a week on its battery if you don't touch it at all.
Find out whatever is doing it and you should be getting a better battery life.
So turning on power efficiency helped, in 7 hours the battery was still at 30%. I'm going to try now without sense.

Yep, with power efficiency on.
It's totally worth it.
So far here's my statistical data
Sense 3.0 with power efficiency off - about 7 hour
Sense 3.0 with power efficiency on - 11 hours
Desensified (gingerbread) - 17 hours!
All moderate use, no repeated trials, but you can see my point. Hopefully Sense 3.5 would be lighter.
P.S. I'm using Warm ROM with the stock kernal on an hboot 1.5

I'd bet it was a widget or service that was removed, not Sense specifically.
I'm at 11 hours with two reboots (including a full zipped Nandroid) that took me down just over 10%, an hour long conference call, a whole bunch of texting and e-mails, and am at 44%... 47% was voice calls, 28% display, 8% wifi, 6% cell standby (10% TWS - ugh. service at home sucks) ...
if close 3G longer use!
Trying out InfectedROM tomorrow, I hear the bench scores are much higher, won't do a test for Sense, only GB.
Got InfectedROM and decided to try out Tiamats Kernal.. benchmarks went from initial stock of 2500 to tiamat 1500... haha
Wasn't Sense 3.5 meant to have lower HW-demands than 3.0?!? I think I read that somewhere... That even older HTC handsets that couldn't run 3.0 could get upgraded to 3.5.

Unfortunately, for you, it's a CDMA ROM.. And yeah that's why I expect Sense3.5 to run smoother, I'll flash Hybrid+ or any other Sense3.5 when it has full features and get back at this thread

Has anyone noticed improved battery life with the latest update? I know its to be expected, but I didn't expect this much. Normally on the weekends I have to charge my phone after 5 or 6 hours. Today with the same usage I went about thirteen hours. And btw I'm original DROID RAZR.

I have the Maxx and get great battery life, but I really haven't noticed any better life after the OTA. Yesterday after heavy use I still had 44% after 16 hours. This is with 4g always on. The 4g/3g hand off is as good and automatic as it ever was.
Actually I haven't noticed any improvement except, the colored icons in settings and the added features in the camera app. At least it didn't slow down my phone or add any lag!
Sent my new Droid Razr Maxx
I've noticed improved battery life also. I also noticed that 4g is on constantly now, no more switching between 4g & 3g so I'm guessing that's where the improved battery life is coming from. Expet for when I was out of 4g coverage, I litteraly haven't seen 3g since the update, I love it!
It's not a fluke but a known benefit of the update. You might also notice the phone doesn't get as warm as before under heavy use.
Its not supposed to get as warm too! Hell yeah. Now if I could figure out the media process that starts at launch and stop it, cuz that really heats up my phone and kills the battery.

It's because of CDRX.
While we don't usually cover every software update on every platform, I thought it worth noting something special about the new update which will begin going out shortly to the Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX. Among the features included in "6.12.173.XT912.Verizon.en.US" is a new feature that isn't directly advertised in the changelog - it's the inclusion of Connected Discontinuous Reception, or CDRX for Motorola/TI's codename Wrigley 4G LTE baseband. The short of it is improved battery life on 4G LTE.

What apps? I have yet to see an app that doesn't work in ICS.
And 2:30 vs 3:30 screen on, or total time? Sounds like your usage is different than everyone else considering most other people get 4-5 hours screen-on time. And screen-on time isn't the only way to measure battery life unless you have zero standby time and a known quantity of what's running in the background.
Sooo..

This is dude's thread that you are crapping in. His comparison of 2:30 vs. 3:30 hours means more than you simply stating everyone else gets 4 to 5 hours.
That being said, I don't see a huge battery difference between ICS and GB.

I have seen a few apps that don't work in ICS. Some that are important to me. But the same thing happened in gingerbread. You have to wait till devs get all the apps updated. It is difficult since there are so many different devices that needs to be developed for differently.
And everyone's useage is different. Not sure what OP meant by 2:30-3:30 whether screen on or total but 4-5 hours screen on is not what everyone else is getting. It depends what you do with your phone. Maybe you sit and stare at your home page with a picture of you on it all day. But I use my phone. Much going on besides screen on. I hate to even call it a phone.

Back to GB for me - I flashed just about everything (my two favorite ICS ROMS were Flappjaxxx's UCLF6 (FJ MOD - not AOSP) and Hotwire's CM9 - each of these was smooth and ran w/good battery life BUT.. I am back on Saurom V7 w/RC7.1. No ICS ROM that I've seen has the kind of functionality that I want - for example using the notification toggles to put the screen to sleep - such a simple thing and only found in Saurom. Or Wake on Volume (although a few ICS ROM's have this) - these are the things that really make my phone useful, not to mention a fully functional SPen memo app.
However, I am using Saurom with the UCLF6 Modem, OC'ing to 1.782 (min 192) w/SetCPU, ADW EX Launcher and it's smooth, about 3 hrs screen on time (lot's of texts, phone calls and Emails) and total of about 12-14 hours before I get to ~ 20%.
I'm happy!

This is after all normal startup apps load.
My ram on average, is always under 25%, majority of the time it's at 21%. Maybe this is the reason, for my system reboots.
I'm on the stock updated rom, btw.
that's normal. Your not supposed to be using an app killer anyway. That's makes battery life worse. The only time you ever need to kill an app is if it keeps your phone awake while the screens off. A million things could be running if needed, but if none of them keep your phone awake youre fine. To check if somethings keeping it awake, go to your battery stats in the power settings and tap on the graph on the top. If you notice a huge bar of blue in the awake part and the screen part blank, then you have a problem, unless you're listening to music. If not you're fine. Root and install mean rom or rejuvenated rom. They're both wonderful. If there's a root for you.

I'm on MeanBean .5 and my battery life, albeit not better than MeanRom, is not that bad. My internet usage reading is 8%. I usually don't leave my 3G/WiFi on all day and I only turn it on when I want to check something or get a MMS. I guess that's why my battery life isn't nearly as bad as yours on MeanBean.
So sounds like your battery life is about the same? Are you using the new kernel or the old one?
Yeah I would make that assumption. I'm using whichever kernel Mikey included in the Rom, which I'm assuming is the JB kernel because the ICS kernel won't work. I try to stay away from other kernels because the kernel Mikey includes in his Roms is usually tweaked to work specifically for his Roms.
Disable Google now, don't fill up every home screen with widgets, reboot and give the kernel a day to settle. That should improve your battery life to almost ics levels

You've also got to take into account that the rom needs to settle, its a brand new base and Mikeys tweaks have yet to be fully set up. The tweaks in Mean ICS were developed over time

Mean bean .5 here, getting -30min/1hr less when browsing & using camera which isn't to bad for an early jb release. I could live with it for now since I still don't have to bring my charger to work with me. It isn't that bad IMO

Your not going to find them as I made them myself. You have to look for a DINIK glass template floating on XDA and then use Photoshop to be creative. =)

I don't use Google Now, nor do I use any widgets other than weather. Hmmm...
Anyway if Google Now was the problem where would that show under battery usage statistics? Anyone know?
Thanks

And yet it's still currently better than the officially released version

Someone on another forum suggested turning off location history in maps helped a lot with their battery life...
And someone else suggested a simple factory reset after flashing the ROM...(I know this helped out with a previous phone I had - it was burning battery like cray and running hot, and factory reset cured everything.)
I thought the batter life was much better with Meanbean

I'm getting horrible battery life too. I had it fully charged at 100% and it has been on for 2 hours with barely any usage, and now it's at 80%.
I have been running 4.3 a long time now on my One. It takes a couple days to calibrate. I have had the best battery life ever on 4.3. You just ned some patience. I hear it all the time on the 4.3 custom ROM threads.

But this is STOCK and we just got the update. On T-Mobile USA.

Go to the Google play services app and clear the data.
That was causing a huge wake lock.

I was on STOCK 4.3 also WW edition. I just switched to stock T-Mo edition. Search the forums and you will see a bunch of complaints about battery life on 4.3 after just a few hours of flashing. Everyone replies back to give it a few cycles and how it is the best battery life they have ever had.
The battery life on mine with the 4.3 has improved greatly.

I hope it works its self in, because yesterday was HORRIBLE. Even today, I took my phone off the charger 30 minutes ago and with NO USE, I'm at 92%
Animations seem choppier too. Rather annoying

Guys... Install something like Gsam battery monitor so you came actually tell what is using your battery.
You most likely have rouge apps that are causing wake locks

Anyone else getting sluggish performance after the update? I never had any performance issues on 4.1 but some apps are really slow and jerky now, even some of the regular system animations are slower.
Also, is it just me or did the developer options disappear from settings.

Yeah, I had to Factory Reset twice to get rid of the lag, and it didn't completely resolve it. It's like even some of the core apps aren't optimized. Weird. The stuttering animations really make me pissed
If you want developer options go to settings, about phone, software information, more, then click on Build Number a bunch of times and it re-enables developer options
I feel bad for u guys tht had to wait all this time and now have performance/battery issues ... I have none here hahahaha
Actually I think it's better after that 2nd reset. It may have just needed some time to "settle"

Seriously? That's weird.
I don't want to factory reset, especially if it doesn't even solve the problem. This is lame.
I disabled the lookout app. That got rid of my wake lock . Battery life is still bad though.

No problem here. I did notice that my phone was running hot after the update. I ended up powering it off for a few minutes. When I powered it back up, it ran at normal temperature. Or maybe it just cooled down.
well, I sure am glad I have a jump from t-mobile. I'm going to offload this piece of crap for Nexus 5.

I have no battery issues here. I cleared all cache using an app right after the update.
