does anybody know if there's a way to block an app fr detecting that your phone is rooted, i was trying to redeem my code for my digital copy to download fast five on my phone using pocket BLU, once it gets ready to download it let's me knw that it detected that my phone was rooted n doesn't let me download, i also had the same problem with blockbuster before I was rooted I purchased some movies but after I was rooted tried to go back to my movies n. same thing, detected my device was rooted... I was wondering if there's a way or hack that we can do to not make it detectable as being rooted, thanx

do you have the Superuser app auto allow root requests or do you have to manually allow each time?

everytime u get an app that request root user permission I have to allow, it doesn't allow automatically but once I have aloud an app I don't have to do it again
You have to delete the root detection in some smali files to remove it.

a temporary fix:
1) rename /system/bin/su to anything else, example: /system/bin/jk. i prefer to use adb shell for the renaming.
2) run the application which looks for root
3) when done running the application which has root detection, rename /system/bin/jk back to /system/bin/su.
this should work because the root detection method most applications use is to only check if a file named /system/bin/su is present. if that file is present, they consider the phone rooted. they usually don't even attempt to open the /system/bin/su which would trigger the superuser apk, they usually only look to see if the /system/bin/su file *exists*.
hope that helps!

After you rename the file you lose root. How do you regain root privilege to rename the file? Do you chmod? How do you mount rw?

as you found out, the temporary fix won't "mess" with anything as long as you restore the su binary back to its default name.

you don't lose root by renaming the su binary. by renaming the su binary, you're ONLY changing the name of the su binary. the su binary does not require itself to be named "su" to execute properly. of course, make sure not to run chmod and remove the setuid bit on the file.
command: mv /system/bin/su /system/bin/jk
now, instead of having to type "su" for root, you'll type "jk" or whatever the new name of the su binary is.
also, you can configure adb shell to always drop to root access by toggling the ro.secure value, either 0 or 1, in the default.prop file which is stored inside the ramdisk of the boot.img kernel file. many custom kernels toggle this setting so adb shell always drops to root, even if no "su" binary exists on the system.
worse case, if for some reason you make a mistake, you can always boot into the custom recovery which provides root access via adb shell (ro.secure is toggle as such in the ramdisk of the recovery custom kernel) and setup root access again from there.
hope the additional information and technical details help!

Remember, This is still a Temp Root & any Changes made will be Rest back to stock on a Reboot
It's stable & works 100%
I Personally have not lost Root with this new Method
Q. I thought RW was Fixed?
A. Caused by Deleting an apk / file that was already deleted. Journaling shows it still there!
Keep Track of what you delete, as trying to delete something off system that you alread di hangs the /system into RO state.
Before Using!!HTC Sync Must be Turned OFF
Put the Phone into Charge Mode only ( Not Disk Drive )
USB Debugging Must be Turned on
What's Fixed:
Revamped due to new Method:
~ Superuser Apps now Function
~ If you Lose Root, all you have to do is Open terminal & type SU then type fixit! > No More Rebooting & running the exploit again for R/W on system to get Root back in place
~ Fixed R/O Bug!!
~ R/W is now Forced
~ /system is fully editable now! until reboot that is.
~ Busybox is installed to /vendor/bin
~ hex Edited libext4
~ hex edited libfuse.so
~~ This is the Last Update due to it working & Stable ~~

A. no, it's a temp root method..
Q. Will I lose SU Access at some point while running the OS?
A. You might, but open terminal & type fixit to get root back!.
Q. What about apps that need a reboot to use superuser?
A. Use Fast Reboot form the market for app that need a reboot..
Q. Can I push & remove items to system & will it work?
A. Yes, but all changes are reset on a reboot.

OLD NEWS:
Everyone knows that currently with any temp root, you still lose links to the SU Binary & Busybox links, it's just a matter of time before it happens!!
So after digging around somewhat I found an over sight that HTC might use later for system updates via /vendor/bin, who knows at this point though... Anyways, after amount of time the SU Binary along with busybox links if be in system/bin or /system/xbin gets deleted / removed..
Now, what I did was enable the $Path to /vendor/bin which is in the Sensation export PATH..
Any Calls made from this point either be SU or Busybox don't get deleted nor touched from any App requesting the SU Binary!! I've tested this with alot of apps & the Root sticks in place..
Other than Reboot, it might as well be a Perma-Temp-Root!!
Downloading now!!! Can't wait to test it!
***EDIT***
Rooted perfectly, opened and closed Titanium Backup several times with no force closes or loss of su, Barnacle is perfect, Wireless tether is granted su but the kernel doesn't support it, screenshot gained su also but the screenshots were smeared colors. Drocap2 takes perfect screenies though. Gonna try a few more root apps before bed and play some more when I wake up to verify it lasts.
going to try this now!
Ran the script and no root
script stays on
daemon started successfully :/

perfect works great!!! Managed to restore TB! Will try out wifi tethering right now and other su required apps! Thank you! <3
I guess I don't understand.
How is removing anything from /system/app gonna stick?
This worked perfect for me. No problems with it. Wifi tether won't work for me, but barnacle tether works perfectly. Drocap2 is taking perfect screen shots for me as well, where as before the images would be all distorted and what not.
Made some changes to the .bat since I don't necessarily want to disable all of that yet, but it works, this is the longest superuser has worked for me so far on the EVO 3D.

It won't stick, but after you reboot you run the batch program again and the apps are removed again until your next reboot.

a .bat file is just a text document that is executed in command prompt. If you are familiar with cmd just open the file in notepad, delete any commands you don't want executed, save.

Not through a full reboot....no you will have to run the batch file again (even says so in the OP). However, the other root methods would crash periodically even without a reboot or would last but not give you access to the majority of your root apps. This is the closest yet to a feasible root solution.
mine doesnt get past daemon started successfully i have usb debugging on
so if i downloaded and installed some apps that require root,
and i reboot, what happens to them ?
they will work after running the bat file again ?
or they will have to be installed again to work properly ?
thanks !
EDIT: i haven't done my due diligence (searching and reading)
but it's 5 am so i'll ask ...
what works for screen capture and for wireless tethering ?

They will work after running the .bat file again. You shouldn't need to uninstall and reinstall them. Super User may need to be uninstalled before running the .bat file again, if it gives you any force closes.

I got the 1.9.0004 Hboot on the Amaze to the guys with Revolutionary and hopefully they can find some exploit wizardry to save us all from the dreaded HTC unlock.
In the meantime, I can confirm that their ZergRush exploit works on the Amaze 4G with software version 1.36.531.5 (untested on any others, but probably still fine). Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1296916
The exploit provides temporary root only and any root-level changes will not survive a reboot. This means you can use ZergRush, then push the su app and binary via adb and then use root apps and delete bloat, etc but on reboot it will all go back to the way it was before (the nand partition is not unlocked with this).

Either change permissions of the file, or see if a file manager will let you change the folder to R/W. Since i do not have my Amaze yet (in the mail), I cannot go to the folder to see if you can do the latter without root.
Does not work on Wind's Amaze ROM.
I've rooted my HTC Amaze. The rootedness persists across reboot. Here's how I did it.
1. Copy the zergRush temp root to the phone. I put it in /data/local
2. Run zergRush on the phone via adb shell.
One you have temp root do this (from the PC)
1. adb remount
2. adb push su /system/bin/
3. adb shell chmod 04755 /system/bin/su
Then you can install superuser.apk and reboot. After rebooting you should be able to adb shell and type su. This should prompt you (on the phone) to allow su. Once you allow it then any apps that need root should begin working.
You can find the zip file that contains the su binary here
NOTE: the adb daemon will not be running as root so, when you adb shell to the device you will not have root. You just run su and then you have root.
Questions? Just ask. I'll do my best to help. But, remember, you do this all at your own risk.
-xdadevelopers-user
I had some weirdness when allowing a second root app in superuser. It would consistently FC. The first root app was fine and continued to work but I couldn't get another root app to be authorized.
It turns out it's related to the permissions on the superuser databases. To fix my problem I went to home>menu>settings>applications>manage applications>superuser>clear data. Then run superuser and dismiss the startup dialog. Now adb shell and run su. It will prompt on the device and you should allow it. You should now have the root prompt in your adb shell session. From there type
Code:
chmod 666 /data/data/com.noshufou.android.su/databases/*
Now you can run more root apps without superuser FCing.
-xdadevelopers-user
Very nice work, I will probably wait until we have recovery to actually do it. This is a great start though, hopefully this works with no problems as I saw that some were "bricking" their devices using the Zerg method for temp root.

Yes, it will. In fact, that's basically all it does. Of course if you want to change /system/ you'll need to su to root first, then remount it RW. From there you can make any changes you want. The changes you make will persist across a reboot. To test this I deleted teeter.apk and teeter.odex from /system/app and rebooted. Teeter is now gone from my phone.
So, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean, this is permanent root.

Yes, you can make changes (add/edit/delete) to the files in /system.
I added:
/system/bin/su
/system/app/TitaniumBackup.apk
and deleted:
/system/app/teeter.apk
/system/app/teeter.odex
I did not edit anything in /system but I could if I had a reason to.

I used the UOT kitchen to modify the battery to include percent. Since we don't have recovery yet I manually pushed the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk and then manually deleted the dalvik-cache. Now my status bar has the modified battery. Woohoo!
I was going to build a recovery today but android.git.kernel.org is STILL DOWN. Since the instructions I have require it I guess I'll wait for someone who already has the sources or until android.git.kernel.org comes back (I'm starting to wonder if it ever will).

Confirmed, same result for me on a locked bootloader. On reboot, it all goes away (or comes back).
Hey there! About 2 months ago I first rooted my HTC Legend and unlocked my bootloader and ugraded it to hboot 1.02
I installed cyanogenmod 7.2 and all worked great. I have CWM 5.0.2.8 installed too. And supertool worked for me (zergling rushes commenced . I was also able to use eclipse for android to view my root files via the computer.
Well I cant do this anymore. I can only see my root files via the phone using Root Explorer Lite which I downloaded from the play store.
And supertool is giving me errors of read-only file system (see attached screenshot) and says pushing Superuser.apk, so it appears on my phone, I also opened it but I don't know what im supposed to do in there??
I just want to be able to access my root files via my computer. do I have to use eclipse or is there another program? what am I doing wrong here?
ATM im using a workaround where I copy files to my SD card and then using Root Explorer Lite I copy for instance ringtones to the system/media/audio/ringtones folder and that works. But I need a simpler method like drag and dropping files into this folder via my computer. How can I do this?
Thanks for you help!
You can try qtadb.

Curious as to actually know the need to use supertools when your already using a rooted rom?
I am so sure supertools was only needed to root a non rooted Rom, perhaps supertools stuffed it up....
Have you simply tried just using adb commands from cmd?
Perhaps your issue is the pc itself.
Maybe first is to try this:
Adb devices (proves phone and pc are connected).
Adb shell
Then type "su"
Then type "ls" (this gives file listing on device)
This is assuming you know anything about windows cmd, Adb and stuff like that.
Just some basics to get you started in trying to diagnose.
Hey, why not try restoring a nandroid backup you did earlier, you did do a backup yeah?

thanks this actually worked! i dont even know how/why but it did
i tried other programs like Droid Explorer or Android Commander but it didnt let me copy files to system/media/ or wutever. and it would say my phone isnt rooted.
i tried the cmd promt as ranger said with adb shell
i did the su and ls thing and it works (displays dir/files list) but thats not the problem, the problem is when i type something like this:
chmod 777 media/
and it says it cant change permissions cuz its read-only file system, the same reason supertool didnt want to work. i wan my zergling rush!!!
seriously this is weird
I rooted my strange tablet using Kingo and apparently it was succesful:

But I have been trying for days to erase a file in /system and I have not been able to do it, I think I have read every relevant thread about this problem but no luck, I tried using ES and changed /system to r/w in the root options but when trying to delete the file all I get is operation failed, the same happens with all the other root explorers and tools. I even tried the solution on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p7/help/edit-replace-write-files-set-immutable-t2884172
but still can't delete it.
Also the app root toolkit for android gives me this weird error too:

Do you have an app like root explorer that specifically asks for root permissions? It doesn't matter if you have root if the explorer can't use it

Yes all the file manager apps I used always ask for root permission, that is the problem they have root permission but still can't delete the file, which is weird because I can use apps that definitely need root like scr screen recorder and greenify just fine.
Try installing root explorer and then attempt to delete the file, then it should instantly open a window asking for root. The of course grant the permission. That should always work, but if it doesn't just restart the tablet, if it still doesn't work it must mean you are deleting a file that is in use by the system. Otherwise i have no idea whats wrong

Rooted my device using kingo root, I didn't intall other recovery.
Bad idea to try and remove system files without a custom recovery and a nandroid backup made and stored in a safe spot. What are you trying to remove?
I am trying to delete /system/sbin/su because I read in another thread this was the solution to fixing the issue of the app supersu not updating binaries when rooting your device using Kingo.

That is the binary. If you remove it, you wouldn't be rooted. Can you link the thread you are looking at? There's an app made specifically for replacing that su binary with SuperSU and it's binary called Super-SUme, though I believe it is a paid app.
I know it is the binary but according to this guy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/support-update-failures-t2907365/page23
(post 223)
""It appears kango wrote to /system/sbin/su whereas supersu wrote /system/xbin/su and subsequently supersu would keep wanting to update 'su' then fail.
The long and the short of it is once I manually removed /system/sbin/su supersu stopped telling me 'su' was outdated. I don't know android but I do know linux.
$PATH on my tablet has /system/sbin/ prior to /system/xbin/ so it would appear supersu is issuing 'su -V' as opposed to '/system/xbin/su -V' when it checks the version. The kingo 'su' was older than the supersu 'su'.
Dunno what the solution is 'cos the older 'su' is going to get called first & I figure there's nothing but trouble to be gained from changing $PATH globally. Nevertheless it might be enough to check $PATH for unwanted 'su' and flag them, possibly offer to remove them? In my case I renamed it "/system/sbin/su.ORIGINAL" so that it's still runnable in an emergency"""
If you rename it, it won't be able to run, and won't require removal.
That's the thing I can't rename the file either for some reason. Using es and other root explorers doesn’t work.

Seems like the SU binary that Kingroot included is pretty finicky and only works for some things. I've rooted 100s of devices and have never had issues like that. Have seen complaints about other various oddities with Kingroot too. It's nice that it's easy and works on a variety of devices, but if you have only limited control then that kind of defeats part of the purpose of rooting it...
Tried using SuperSUme but the app says I am not rooted with Kingo? wtf? Do you guys know of any other reason why i can't erase the system file sbin/su?

With Root Explorer, does it let you set the system to R/W? There's a little button at the top of the app that will say R/O or R/W for Read Only or Read Write. If you don't have R/W to the system, then you are unable to make changes to it.
I just renamed file su and then it became able to be deleted.

Connect your android tablet device to your windows computer. Then enable usb debugging on your android tablet. Then open the windows program called cmd. Then do these commands.
Code:
adb root
Code:
adb remount
Code:
adb shell rm /system/sbin/su
