I am pretty sure you're on cm7, you will need Odin to get back to rds file system.

My advice, go buy either a blackberry or HTC data cable, they are far superior
to the sh%!ty samsux ones. I think that's that happens when Koreans get Chinese cables.

Try using Rom manager and install zip from sd car if u have the gingerbread bootloader it should work

No it won't. Cm uses a different file system. That's why you need the pit file and must use Odin to repartition your phone. Bootloader had nothing to do with it.

It's not just the filesystem, it's the partition mounts and types. The *ONLY* way to overcome the mount point (mtd vs bml) issue is Odin.

Is there anyway I can flash 'simply stock'? Its also gingerbread. But everytime I try to flash it just boots a fresh install of bifmod >=[[[

Simply Stock is a JV* ROM uses the same partition/file system that 2.2 ROMs use. If you need the GB bootloaders to flash it - it wont work for you.

Find a different CM7 based ROM that works better on your phone:
CM7
MIUI
Trigger 2.3.5
OMFGB
NO FRILLS
Espresso
I suggest No Frills 2.1. So far it gave me the best battery life:

Try them all and see how each work.

CM7

Can someone please direct me to a thread that would explain you me what the benefits of cm7 are over any other toxic or trigger or some flashable rom like those ive been digging and cant find a consensus on weather or not its worth trying just keeps seeming like a more difficult way to make my rom more stock like. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks

The only way to truly understand what CM7 is about is to actually try it for yourself.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
^ Exactly, it won't hurt you or your phone.
FLASH IT. TRY IT. DONT LIKE IT? SWITCH BACK.
Just flash it--you cannot explain in simple terms what CM does.

I was going to download it via rom manager but wasn't there in the list of devs? I am certain I'm a premium user bought it legit from the market I can manage the long route for install I'm just curiouse is it more or less just an aosp? I understand to just try it. I'm just giddy and don't have the resources for the next few weeks to afford to take the chance on having issues with install if its just more or less stock miui or sonething. I understand the just try it view just had a nooob inquiry before I proceeded to do so lol :-D

reflash cm 7 again but dont pick 9-11 nightlies as there pointless. pick 6-8 nightlies as there good and stable in my opinion. When installing on ur first try make sure u check off all three, wipe data, wipe dalvik, and backup rom and then on ur second nightlie install u dont have to do the data wipe but make sure u check off the other 2! I hope this helps as Cm7 is worth it!

How do I make my Fascinate more efficient?

Four words: I hate my Fascinate. Is there any way I can make my Fascinate faster, more responsive, and just work better? I've used Com rom, Cyanogenmod, & MIUI and none of them work for me. Community rom seemed to work best for me but about a month of running com rom, it just started forceclosing everything and I lost everything. Then, I went to Cyanogenmod. It was amazing, but I noticed it deleted things off of my SD card by itself. For MIUI. It was just a little to buggy. I just gave up and went to stock and installed OCLF. For some reason, my phone isn't very responsive, it constantly freezes, crashes all the time, the camera app doesn't want to open sometimes, and just today it started not opening up my apps and showing a black screen. I'm sick of it!!! How do I make my Fascinate work better? I'm stuck with it for 2 years and I can't stand it!? Any suggestions??? Ill do whatever it takes to make this thing work better.

Im not sure how to respond to this...I mean my fascinate is running cm7.1 w/ glitch v13 and is ****ing AWSOME! Super responsive, gps locks instantly, no lag, no fc's... Im going to go out on a limb and say you must be doing something very wrong or have a bad device.
Suggestion:
back your sd card up, odin dl09 eclair w/ pit and repartition checked, reformat your sd card, then flash rom of your choice. If that dont help, call verizon and have them send you a replacement.
I've never flashed a "pit" thing. I've just flashed the froyo file and called it a "restore." Also, I got a 16gb card withmy phone and it won't flash any CM7 roms, so I bought an 8 from eBay. Did the same thing... I have an old 4 gb that is the only card that will flash a cm7 based rom. Also, if I put my 16/8gb on a cm7 rom, it'll say damaged or unreadable.

I notices you said something about using the factory USB. Well, there's something wrong with that cord. My computer won't reconfbize my phone with that cord. When I try to charge it with my wall adapter, my phone wants me to connect USB storage. I've been using this cord that came with a crappy archos tablet. I've been using that 1 for months. Is that OK?

Custom kernel REQUIRES unlock
First time I've heard of it consistently bricking phones and I rsd flash BOTH my mophos a couple times a week. Even when rsd says "fail" I've never had an issue when doing it properly (factory reset from settings/wipe from recovery/rsd flash).

boot to recovery and flash? what do you mean you cant use CWM on stock rooted rom?
Rom manager is not needed for cwm. It just makes things slightly easier.
Flash a kernel that has cwm and boot into it by the command 'adb reboot recovery', three button hold, or even the 14 toggle mod reboot button. And flash away.
Rom manager doesn't equal cwm. It's just one of the things it can do. But right now it's not 100% ready for our phones.

I've been using it on my cappy, and now with my Sgs2, no issues. But I'm a compulsive updater and obsessed with living on the edge.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
Majority of other phones it does work 100%.
And it does work with our phones. Just not 100%. If used enough there will be a time that it messes up (primarily with stock based roms). Hopefully in the near future the bugs will be worked out so that it is 100% with our phones.

Lag

My phone is lagging really bad, any idea on how to stop it?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA
We're going to need more info.
What exactly is lagging? The phone in general or your keyboard?
Are you running stock? Or on a ROM?
Does this persist after you restart? Or have you had your phone on for months straight?
Are you running a bunch of Apps/Widgets? How much free space memory and RAM do you have?
My bros x2 lags. Its gotta be the blur...

It's really darn hard to brick this thing and flashing is easy.
I'll lay it out like you want to flash Cm7 and you are the 2.3.4 kernel
Root your device
Download Bootstrap recovery (fyi:clockwork recovery and Bootstrap recovery are the same thing)
Install Bootstrap recovery from whatever file manager you use
Get the Cm7 rom, Google apps zip and Cm7 recovery from the Cm7 thread in development and place them on your EXTERNAL sd card
Start Bootstrap (it'll appear as System recovery on your phone)
Wipe Data, cache and Dalvik (Advanced>Dalvik chache)
Then, install zip>choose zip from sd card (now here is where you're supposed to flash the zips from the Cm7 in a particular order. Refer back to that thread as I cannot remember what order it is)
Once you've flashed everything, go back to the first menu and reboot your system.
Also learn how to do a nandroid. Long, and sad stories short it saves assess.

I have used both Eclipse and CM7 on my DX2 for extended periods and I prefer CM7 simply because of how fast it transitions. If you want a lag free phone, go with that.
Follow what thelowend said above, flashing ROM's is really easy. Just read carefully and follow directions and you will be fine

your post here and in the other thread suggest that your battery is just losing its ability to hold charge. wiping stats might pretend that it's fully charged, but you're not going to get optimal charge on an old battery. you can pick up extras for cheap.

I bought some cheap batteries (believe it was a pack of two) for about $20 and they were terrible. They wouldn't hold a charge for longer than 2 hours.
