I have taken the droid 3 boot animation, I thought it looked cool in all its QHD-ness, but after I finished recoloring all the images blue (for my theme and others) and loading it up on my atrix, it doesn't work. Will someone plz take a look and figure out whats going on? (and help me)

I just took the files in windows explorer, selected all of them, and right clicked and selected "send to- compressed (zipped) folder" Is that the wrong way?
edit: yep your right i compressed. Thanks! it has a few problems with it when I fix I will post the final version.
If you have the gif file use this site:
http://aboota.devbro.com/
if not use winrar and make sure to not compress any of the files or it wont work.
So guys did everything and downloaded the UOT I created. When trying to install it as a zip I had an issue. When I went to install zip from sd card it showed the UOT file but when I clicked on it, it just opened up in to 4 further folders. The system and meta and all that. So then I went to install zip from internal sd card and it appeared to work however it said status 0 and installation aborted... Whats going on?
Edit: Saw the workaround where you put the binary file in the UOT Zip, did so and now I get the "Bad error."
Everything is good thanks guys
I don't have any experience with UOT kitchen, but I do know update zips. After you placed the binary in the zip, did you resign it? Not doing so may be your problem.
Resign it? Sorry Im not sure what these means, still kind of amateur? Can you explain hah

By default our recovery doesn't check if the zip is signed, so this probably isn't the problem.
Alright. I pm'd the link to my buddy so he could see if the file is okay, so ill let you guys know if its okay.

What ROM are you running?
I'm having the same issue, what did you do to correct it? I've tried the binary and resigning it.
Anyone else know who to get files cooked from the kitchen scripted for Eclipse v.0.1?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
If you do not know what UOT Kitchen is, just google is... its phuckin awesom, you can change anything on your phone from the boot ani to battery icon, black status bar, noto icons, pull down bars ... tons of crap.... just not sure why the scripts wont work.

Does anyone know what scripting I choose in the kitchen for [GB]Eclipse v.01? There is Edify, and Amend...... I've tried them both, but no luck.
It Says At The Kitchen's Website If You Get The "Status 0" Error To Copy The ROMs "update-binary" And Replace Theirs. As The Two Pictures Dictate Where You Can Find The ROMs update-binary To Copy And Replace The Kitchen's. (Your Rom Maybe Different Than Mine. You Need To Find "YourRom'sName.zip")

Yeah thanks guys, sorry I didnt get on to say I fixed it.. But I already installed a new UOT, and Im having another problem! lol. I installed a uot and when I did it just says installing update...and doesnt change.
My ROM does not have an update-binary.....
I have made progress though.. Seems like the battery mod was conflicting with the CRT animation.
I was able to cook a moded black status bar with some tweaks.....
Anyway to remove the "Verizon Wireless" from the stock status bar? it bleeds threw....
Also... have trouble with boot animation..... it will not flash no mater what I try.
Its located in /system/media/bootanimation.zip
the flashable zip from UOT gives an systax error.... can I just manualy delete the old bootain and copy the new one pulled from the UOT Zip?
Can I do this with a root explorer? or do I need to do ADB?
**EDIT** I was able to delete system/media/bootanimation.zip and put the new "Bios Boot" one there... boots up like an old PC... its awesom... now if I can get the status bar overlap fixxed... and icons and battery

EDIT: Durp! Found it...
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to change the color of the text in pop up menus. It's ruining my theme. Any help?
I just created a theme using the UOT Kitchen. Not all options can be used since they don't yet support qhd resolution, but that is supposed to be fixed soon. I was able to create a theme with the following elements: digital battery indicator (10% increments), Dr. Droid icons, Rudolf screen animations (great feature), Ubuntu font and Tesseract boot animation. Note that the boot animations won't fill the screen because they don't support qhd yet, so pick one that will always be black around the edges to look right. Also, I wasn't able to get some icon packs to flash, so I'm not sure which ones will work other than the one I used.
When you make a theme with boot animation, be sure to select the Galaxy S GB ROM. Also, when you upload your files, you have to select amend scripting and have Patch9 selected. There's no need to select the theme preview option for theme chooser since our ROM doesn't have this.
I'm running a rooted, locked stock ROM with cwm bootstrap recovery. You must be rooted and have some type of recovery. Be sure to wipe cache and delvik cache before flashing and nandroid a backup before you flash just in case something goes wrong. Happy themeing!
Edit:
Here's a link to my theme described above.

According to UOT, they say:
WORKAROUND for recovery error (Status 0):
1. Unzip your ROM and find
META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary file
2. Put this file in the UOT zip (overriding UOT's file)
But would you know how to unzip and find that binary file?

UPDATE: Yup, it worked. Thanks so much for the reminder to select the amend scripting...I seriously need to go back to school and learn how to read.
Amend scripting is apparently no longer supported by my version of CWM (v5.0.2.7-photon3). Any ideas? Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but it seemed preferable to do this than start a new one.
I've done a lot of theme edits on my phones by decompiling with the NinjaMorph app, editing drawable-hdpi, then compiling again with NinjaMorph.
This doesn't seem to be the way to go for tabs though.
Can someone give me a quick intro?
-What programs to use
-Where the files are that I need to edit
-anything else I might need
I'm pretty handy when it comes to photoshop and I would like to incorporate that into customizing my tab like I did for my phones.
Aha! I found it....I couldn't find what i was looking for in framework-res with Ninjamorph so i looked around a bit and found them in SystemUI under /system/app...
Gonna hop on photoshop and see if changing one of them works.
F**k all of you who knew how to do it and didnt tell me!!
---loljk
Running into a problem now...
When I repack SystemUI with ninjamorph, it force closes.
Does that mean I'll get an error with framework-res too?
Would metamorph work instead?
When i repack framework-res, it goes through all the are you sure you want to replace and do you want to zipalign and all that...then when i get through those, it gets stuck at "Please Wait...Working, please wait..."

Lol. All lonely in this thread bro? Alright, so screw ninjamorph or whatever you're using. Go and get your adb all setup (Google it) and then get apktool honeycomb addition that can be found in our dev thread. Tphillips has modified it to work with honeycomb really nicely. Then when you have that all setup. I'll try my best to help you figure things out bro. If you think you have some issues setting it all up, just Google it, there's sooo much info on this stuff that will get you through it pretty easily. Sorry for not responding sooner. Been really busy.
Try looking at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265213
It details how to do one specific thing to Browser.apk, but the guide can be used for any system apk, including systemui.apk and framework-res.apk.
I'm sorry that I don't have time to go further into this - there has been a death in my immediate family.

You're welcome lol...i have yet to get all this working though
I signed my update.zip and tried to flash it but apparently the newer versions of CWM don't work with amend scripting and i need to use edify. I found the counterparts of amend for edify and changed the coding manually and changed the name of update-script to updater-script. I then read that it needs an update-binary too so i found a download for that and put that file with my updater-script (not sure why or what its for, its just gibberish).
Tried to flash and get:
Code:
Installing update...
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted
Here's what i changed to go from amend to edify
I had a file called update-script with..
Code:
show_progress 0.1 0
copy_dir PACKAGE:system SYSTEM:
set_perm_recursive 0 0 0755 0644 SYSTEM:app
show_progress 0.1 10
And I replaced it with a file called updater-script with..
Code:
show_progress (0.1 0);
package_extract_dir("system", "/system");
set_perm_recursive(uid, gid, dmode, fmode, “/system/app”);
show_progress (0.1 10);
And i added the attached update-binary file (unzipped of course)

Hmm...still getting the same error.
Is there a certain way i need to zip the file?
I hope its not a problem with my compiled files >.<
EDIT: Now that i look at it again...its a different error. The first time i was getting"(status 0)" now i get "(status 6)"
Oh wait...don't you need to know this for the updater script...
I'm editing /system/app/Browser.apk
I did something small with a file somewhere and i cant even remember what i did....but now I get Error (Status 4)
Here are my update zips signed and unsigned.
I edited a PNG in /system/app/Browser.apk using hoolms guide posted on page 1.
After i edited and compiled with APK manager, i got a file called unsignedBrowser.apk (or something like that). I copied that to my METAINF system apps folder and renamed it Browser.apk (you can see exactly where via the update zips i posted previously.
I didn't use the apk signing thing within APK Manager, i used a seperate program called ZipSigner.exe
If it would be better for me to sign via APK manager, please point me to a guide explaining how to do so.
now no matter what I try i get this error
Code:
Installing Update...
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 4)
Installation aborted.
Any idea what is going wrong?
I followed this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265213
but instead of editing that xml file to change desktopUA or whatever it was for, i edited a PNG in drawable-mdpi.
I deleted the counterpart of that specific PNG in the keep folder, and I DIDNT delete /keep/resources.arsc because I didnt edit an XML file (is that the right way to go?)
one thing you should do is manually push you apks that you modify through adb or root explorer. its an easier way then having to flash everytime you wanna see if something works. i manually pushed the browser apk that you mad. but i see no different at all than stock browser. what did you attempt to change?
I found UOT Kitchen and I am really glad it exists because I would have no clue how to make my own custom theme. However I still have a couple questions.
First has to do with the boot animations. In the bar labeled select place for bootanimation, what do I select?
Next question is, can I flash this over another ROM? I want to use the Ginger-Funk ROM to get rid of some bloatware, increase battery life, etc.
And my last question is has to do with how the UOT zip actually changes things. For example, if I uncheck sliding tab in the lock screen tab does it remove the sliding tabs or just not skin them?
Any responses are greatly appreciated, I'm new to all of this and have been researching for awhile now and I'm getting antsy lol.
1 system/media
2 yes
3 it just won't skin them
Tap'n on my LIBERATED X2
That was faster than I expected. Glad I found these forums and thanks a lot!!
If I could bother you for one more question, is there a way to get rid of the sliding tabs? I prefer the lock pattern and it's kind of annoying to unlock my phone twice.
Edit: There are two options for system/media:
Cyanogen ROM
Galaxy S GB ROM
Does it matter which one?
Also there was one thing I missed. When it asks for screen size what do I select. The choices of resolution seem like they are too low for the DX2 or any phone with a large screen. I promise this is the last question I have looked around but haven't found anything =/
What two files did you upload to it? I tried system.hi and framework but when everything was done, I tried to flash it and it said syntax error with updater script.
Any ideas?

Ok, well I just made a theme this time without the custom boot animation however this time I am getting a (status: 0) error. The work around on their site says to swap the update-binary file from your ROM with the one in the zip you get from them. However, my ROM doesn't contain an update-binary file... I might try flashing a different ROM and see if I can get it to work.

Your using edifying scripting not amend use amend and you won't have that error
Tap'n on my LIBERATED X2
And I quote
" I've tested flashing custom UOT themes on Gingerbread and they work just great. I've included a link to the stock android files so you can now cook your own custom themes in UOT Kitchen. The only elements that don't work are boot animations lock screens. Use amend scripting and load up the two files in the zip below and you're good to go. Have fun! Once you have the zip from UOT, just flash it like a rom in recovery."
So far uot kitchen works on any rom I have tried and I am currently using gingerfunk'd also
Even with amend, no boot animation, and no lock screen, it says updated error.

couple of questions. if you use the kitchen will you keep the 1% battery and pulldown toggles or does the kitchen cause you to lose that, can the original files be replaced to revert back to original look? sorry don't mean to hijack the topic.. kitchen has always intrigued me.
** for battery and toggles, is it as simple as copying my service.jar file from my current system after flashing the kitchen theme?

You need to feed the kitchen the files for the current ROM your using. Both SystemUI.apk and Framework-res.apk . If your on motogingerfunk you can get these files in a zip in that thread or you can move them off your phone or grab them from your roms zip. The toggle if you have them are in systemui.apk and wont get themed but should still be there. The 1% battery is in a different file entirely and will be fine. USE AMEND SCRIPTING
Lockscreen/Bootanimation do not work
