LOL, balling out of control here?

I have used Class 4, Class 6 and Class 10 microSD cards .. Cl.4 is not even worth the trip to the store, cl.6 is ok unless you wanna for example play 720p video .. Class 10 is the only one spending money on, in my opinion..

if you actually do tests on class 4 authentically sandisk branded sd cars, you'll see that it's actually writing at 10MBps+
also note that classes are based on write speed, read speeds are gonna be much much faster than that. so unless your TF is actually equipped with an SLR camera. (or you're using the sdcard as swap) then a class 4 (especially a sandisk class 4) is more than adequate.

sorry bud I could not resist ...you set yourself up for it

i just picked up a sandisk 32GB class 4 microSD for 29.95 off http://1saleaday.com/ a few days ago

Just bought my class 4 on amazon for $32 about an hour ago, seems to be the only place to still have them at that price
http://goo.gl/z9GUZ
there's also some people selling class 6's in there but there on back order till Oct 20th, if you have that sort of patience

I think saving up for this option is going to give more bang for the buck:

If it din't bother you I don't know why you felt the need to comment then. You gave no basis in fact except for you opinion with your cutting remark so therefore to me you had no business making it except some ego know it all thing. Maybe you didn't notice he said in his opinion if your entitled to one so is everyone else. If all your remarks need to have sting and retort you might need to examine just why in my also humble opinion as I am also entitled to have one.

The Woot! deal links to DailySteals (http://mobile.dailysteals.com/).
I got one from them last week and a second from Ben's Outlet - both class 4 and both work perfectly.
Since I'm not recording HD video with my Transformer, class 4 cards are more than fast enough.
I now have a 64GB Transformer, or 96Gb with the dock!

Damn they do not ship to Canada...

The point was his opinion was given as advice and misinformation. It was a barb but it was to point out that if you don't know something you shouldn't be putting on an act like you do. You are the one who got this knickers twisted when it wasnt even pointed at you (and your comment was way off base since nowhere did I claim that nobody besides me knew something, that is why it was a failure). Also your long post afterward was another failure. For starters I didnt say it didnt bother me (it didnt, I can make a post correcting you without getting emotional about it because its nothing more than a tech forum) but you want to claim you "got me" somehow so you read that in my post.
The issue is the people who claim that you cant use anything lower than a Class10 are perpetuating misinformation and possibly causing users to waste money (or buying crap because there arent many legit options for high write speed/high capacity micro SD). The moment he said "you need a class 6 to play video" it was obvious its less opinion and more incorrect fact. Opinion would be "red is prettier than blue." (as opposed to "red is a longer wavelength than blue, which is a fact)
The real fact is the class is only the write speed and buying a C10 card has no impact on read performance (actually its been tested that cheap C2/4 Sandisk cards can be more reliable at reading at speed than Bobs Brand class10 cards). So it turns out that Class 4 cards from Sandisk are not a "waste of time" as he put it. Especially since I, and many others, have had no trouble playing 720p content from the previous generation Class 2 cards.

I got that usd card from 1saleaday like just yesterday (I mean, it arrived just yesterday, the sale was like 2 weeks ago or something). The write speed is pretty.. horrendous (I guess I've been spoiled by my other usd card) but the read speed is fine. Don't listen to pretentious jerks who must have the best of everything! If you did, you wouldn't get the TF1, you'd have broken into the Asus Facilities to get the TF2.

Talk about a long winded post...but at least you included more than a barb and some actual information..which was more my point.. you were not offering any information just a barb...I guess you think your means was justified which with no information for it stated ....didn't mean much to me.
Your long post above though means to me you are the one who wears knickers that look to be in a twist.. i wear briefs and they mostly just thought your quick barb not offering information funny as your long winded response now does too. Just like before...not for the content but for your manner of presentation.

Cons: I got one, worked just fine for 3 week. Of course, all info (GPS maps, pictures, music) was lost. The second one I ordered, worked for 3 days.
I just trashed 100 bucks, plus Garmin maps, music, etc. Get a SanDisk, a little expensive but works "for ever".

Yeah, I saw that, but I rarely trust reviews on sites like that. too many noobs not knowing whats going on. I was hoping to hear from someone who's got some knowledge about who makes the cards for ridata and or from a respected member that owns one.
well if you dont trust reviews on websites then y are you looking for reviews here? the same ppl here are likely to be the same people reviewing things on newegg.
i know i post reviews for every product i buy from newegg because i like to do lots of research on products i buy and use reviews from average joes who didnt get the product free so they would give a good review regardless.
Thats way too expensive i would say, first of all.

That's my exact card in OP.
I bought a extended battery from amazon (accessoryone I think) for $16 something a few weeks ago. With shipping it was under $27. The increased physical size was noticable, but not uncomfortable.
Performance is AMAZING. I leave everything running (data sync, 100% backlight, everything) and still have half a battery after an 8 hour shift of text and web browsing.
No clue on the sdcard, but now I know what I want next.

Ah, I can't use an extended battery because I have to clip my phone on my belt. I am NOT putting it in my pocket. Would also probably even up leaving it in my car - that's a no-no. Especially in deep south Alabama.
However, I say either way - go ebay. It's pretty much always cheap and most sellers for things like that offer free shipping.
As for it measuring up - well, I can't really say. It's done me good. Class 6 and it averages at... I would say 5.4mb transfer speed (to be safe) on Windows 7. Swap partitioned since say i got it and swap partition is still running smooth and hasn't died out yet. What more do I need from it?
naw you didn't come off condescending. and i have a four gig scan disk class 6 in my g1 right now and paid almost 40 bucks for it about a year ago when i get my in week in a week or two ill run some test and see what i get.
well i got my battery and its awesome!!! it didn't make it that much thicker either. when i get the card ill post some speed test
in case any wanted to know i seem to get about .10 mbs per seconds faster speed from a scan disk verse the top ram for the price difference get the topram.

Why get a 64gb model?

I think this is a no brainer really. a 64gb micro SD card is like what $200+, to get 96gb on a 32gb model would be quite expensive, but if you get a 64gb model and then add a 32gb card, it would work out less.
and if you have a lot of full hi-def movies on a tablet, to take full advantage of the hi-res screen, you won't fit many films on a 32gb card.
Gobs of media files - music and pdf manuals largely. While wifi coverage grows daily, I'm not in a major metropolitan area so finding coverage can be a challenge. The cloud is great - if you can get at it.

Why do people buy 32gb?
I ordered the 64GB version because I can, I say it's better with to much space then to little. And I don't want to come in that position that I don't have enough space, don't like when I get limited because of the hardware.
videos and music is the main use. I first thought on to buy the 32GB + MicroSD card, but with MicroSD you are limited to 4GB files and that is not good when most of the movies are bigger then 4GB. (can be wrong about this)
And was there something wrong with this thread?

[Q] Why 64GB?
B/C $100 for double the disk space is a good deal.... and I'm not constrained by my budget... so why wouldn't I get it?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
If you need to have 96 gb or more its better. It depends on what your using it for. Those who are buying 32gb I think have a very specific use in mind and know how much space they need or are just going to use it as a media consumption device.
Those that are buying the 64gb version probably fit in 3 camps:
1) can afford the space so why not?
2) are using it for work and know/need/want to make sure that they have all of their materials at hand if they have no connectivity (I need geo maps, research papers, my own work, and entertainment on the device.) and don't want to lug or power a portable device.
3) Commuters who want to have access to a large selection of media on the device.
I personally would love to have a 128gb chip or a few of them and dump my bulky external drive. Though I think their price is a little high yet. 1tb would give me wet dreams. (my current ext hd)
Though I do amit that even if I didn't think I had the need for 64gb I would have bought it as you can never add more to the device itself. Say if you buy 32gb and need 128 your spending more than if you bought 64gb and 64gb chip. Barring the fact that you carry a collection of chips.
Cheers!
I'm just trying to think of whether I would be able to make use of the extra space. I don't think "why not?" or "because I can" are good reasons
I feel like maybe there are some useful/cool things I could do with the prime if I had extra space, but I'm still not sure what that is. I only have like ~8 gigs of music. I don't feel like I need a large media library on my device, since I'll know the 1 or 2 things I want to watch at any given time.
Using it as a general storage device might be interesting though.

Sounds like you might be better with a 32gb version then. Just think of all you would want to put on it get an estimated size then how close are you to 32gb if you break it I would buy the 64gb if you don't come close a 32 with an sdhc for expansion would be good I think.
I also think because I can can be a valid reason, think of it like this at the price the difference is not much for double the storage. Personally being a dink(double income no kids) the extra cost is nothing but the cost of not buying what I need can be the difference between having a useful device with no extra work to a useful device that I have to manage what sdhc cards have want info, loaded, and hope I don't loose the other cards. Just dont forget the oppurnity cost of the device.
I don't get why people think $100 extra is a fair deal for the 64GB.
An Samsung 32GB Class 10 card is €30 in Holland, while we pay €100 extra for the 64GB version.
Because I need more than 128gb I think a >=96gb chip is more than 100? And 100$ just is not that much to me.
Well future devices will have up to 128GB of flash storage. It was just released a couple weeks back or so that they finally made it possible.

Do you stream or do you store? Storing music, even if you have a large library, doesn't chew up tons of storage. Video, especially high-profile, does. Plex and PlayOn pretty much eliminate the need to store video locally. I only store stuff when I know I'm going to be on long plane flights without Wi-Fi.
I've got about 2K Rhapsody downloads on my 32GB and a couple of local MKV videos and am using less than half the storage. More is always better and once you buy it you can't go back but it's also kind of stupid to piss money away (no matter how much you claim to have) on something you're not going to use. And it looks like January for the 64GB's so that's something to consider too.
I'm the one who created the other thread. I finally decided for the 64GB for the following reasons:
-I can (i mean, it's not a real effort to pay the extra)
-Now i don't see the real need for the 64Gb, but i don't know if i will need them in the time i have it, as it's my first tablet. Having the 64Gb means if in the future i need the extra storage, i will have it. Having the 32Gb would mean the need to buy extra microSD cards.
-I travel a lot, and sometimes for long time. SD cards are fine, but internal storage means faster reads and less problems (like forgetting the sd or having it lost/broken for any reason)
-I plan on using it for a little gaming too, if the games start to need more space, i will already have it and not depend on the sd card. I hate having to watch which apps I can have or not have due to space in my Nexus One.
-I have a dSLR so i'd like to use it too for pic displaying and very basic editing if needed (with the dock + sd cards). This pics are quite huge (10mb each, ~30mb if shot in raw), so moving a few of them to the internal storage (for using without the dock) would be quite space consuming.
-Having a 32gb microsd card means 96gb instead of 64, which further expands this capabilities.
I can't depend either on music/video streaming. Most music I like isn't in cloud services and Google Music isn't available in Spain. My internet connection is pretty bad, and the router is even worse, with ocasional and random wifi disconnections.
With all this in mind, i just prefer spending a few more € on the 64gb and not fall short in some weeks.
Oh, i forgot the main reason. To stand up in the top of the mountain and laugh at the 32gb people

It's fantastic that you both have the resources. It's incredibly ostentatious that, for whatever reason, you feel the need to share it with others that may not be in your position. Between this and the post in the BB thread where someone's order got canceled because of a debit card issue and some schmuck posted "I don't need to worry, my credit card has no limit" I'd say there's a lot of people on this forum who need to validate themselves.

That's way out of the reason i posted it. The OP is asking for reasons to get a 64 gb model over a 32gb one. Pricing is one of the possible reasons so I included it in the list just because it was an issue i considered while asking myself the same question, so it might be relevant to the OP. If i were just to try to show how proud i am of the money i have, i would remove the parenthesis (where i state that if getting the 64gb is an effort the OP should consider the 32Gb instead). The last sentence was a joke that someone posted on my the thread i created for this same reason and i liked and copied it here. You can check it if you want at the link someone posted in this thread.
I would buy the 64gb version due to the fact that on Honeycomb you can not move apps to the sd card and maybe this will change with ICS so with games taking up a lot of space the extra memory would be nice.

I do as well, but hell, if I am out 35 bucks I'll just do a chargeback or some such, or just eat the cost. It shows I should expect delivery between the 15th and 28th of March, so we shall see.
My gut feeling says it's counterfeit...but the fact the seller is charging such a low price for it makes it easier to 'take the hit' if it is in fact counterfeit.
It's mainly the fact that it's coming from China...and how they're notorious for selling fake memory cards and other merchandise. On top of that, that particular eBay seller doesn't have much total feedback, compared to other China eBayers who typically have many thousands.
Even though the shipment time interval seems to be between 3-5 weeks, who knows...you might end up receiving it much earlier (like in half that estimated time frame).
Keep us posted when you receive the goods.
I thought SD maxes out at 32gb. Anything larger will be SDXC. Does the note even support SDXC?
I also remember reading that counterfeiters will sell fake flash memory that reports itself as the correct size but is programmed to overwrite itself once it goes over the actual physical amount of space on the card. For example you bought a 64gb card and it's really only 16b once you load up over 16bg it will start overwriting itself.
He's also got a 32 GB card for $14
Too good to be true... either stolen or counterfeit is my guess. But for those who are getting it and gets it to work, Grats!

Yes it does. I have a 64GB card in mine. A quick Google search would answer this question.

Yup, I've read that too and will check that first before doing anything else. I've got some iso's that will test that perfectly.
Just bought it. I'll report back when I get it.

Common guys, remember the old adage; If it sounds to good to be true, it is.
There is no way this deal is legit.
Bunch of suckers. I made the same mistake once and never again.

Big surprise, but I just received this:
MC015 Security notice: eBay listing removed
No real shocker to me.

Indeed, as well as only being out only 35 no matter what.

well it is refreshing not to see someone in here not get worked up by something over $4 with frees shipping lol
that guy did have 100% positive feedback i guess Sandisk is getting smart and having knock offs removed

True...But he only had like 120 feedback total.
Most other China and/or HK eBayers with at least 95% positive feedback for lifetime often have 6 digits worth of feedback.
I think the sandisk 64GB only comes in class 6.

I think SanDisk is the only one that makes a 64 Gig card at the moment. Been using mine for a few days.

[Heads Up] 32Gig Class 4 Sandisk Micro SD $20

Pretty good deal, 32Gig class 4 sandisk for only $20

That's a great deal! But don't we want a faster class (like 10)?
This is a matter of debate that can be argued from many angles, most commonly Cache Vs Class. There has been lots of debating on XDA and other forums about how android functions and little to no advantage is seen. I'd really prefer this didn't turn into a debate yet again as there is plenty of places that this be read up on. I run this exact card in 3 nook colors and 4 Android phones currently in my house. never had any hickup in video playback yet.

I wasn't gonna get into the tit for tat about speed.
But I have a legit question, how's about recording 720p? Seeing the Note is capable of it.
I usually have Class 2, that have worked very well in most of my phone/tablet devices. I rarely if ever record any video that would require any type of "high" resolution, yet.
As for playback, I've not had any issue with even the Class 2 SanDisk... YMMV with other "brands" and/or counterfeits..

Basic write up about the usage. Article boils down if you depend heavily on apps2SD then you may want to go to class6

Here's a great write up on the Cache aspect.

And for the true nitty gritty numbers, and instructions on how to test your own card, check out:

If you want to do a full on discussion then by all means please post it in the QA section, I'm not avoiding the topic, I'm avoiding a derail.

I bought his same exact card about 6 months ago for $35. DISREGARD the "class 4" rumors and whatnot. My music and videos play at such an amazing rate you'd assume the card is an expensive high class etc etc. The only notable difference is when your copying your music/videos to the card from your computer. So what..wait acouple of hours for 4000 songs to get copied! I did and for the price how could you say no?
I seriously think Sandisc is really the best company to trust with micro SD cards

absolutely, for me they have far and away been the most consistantly fast cards. You just have to be careful, there are lots of fakes and knockoffs out there that look identical, especially on ebay. Beware anything anyone selling them without OEM packaging. I have fallen for the "these were returns, so we're selling them cheaper since they are out of package" If it's not in Sandisk authenticate packaging, I won't touch it. The 32Gb I bought at walmart a few months ago cost me $50, and that was a decent deal then.
Sorry. I didn't mean to derail the topic. I use the camera a lot for 1080P video, which uses large files and needs a fast write speed. For me, the class 6 or 10 might be better. But after reading the threads you linked to, it does seem that the Sandisk class 4 would be the best all-rounder for most people. Thanks again for the thread. I may order one and give it try anyway. I'll let you know.

I believe when recording it saves locally then once stopped it goes to perm storage, this used to be the way it was, may or may not have changed but would make sense to keep this this way.
I keep a card or two on hand loaded with movies and TV shows for when I travel or know I'll be sitting bored for awhile just incase the 32 I have installed doesn't have enough entertainment. For $20, you can't lose.
By save locally, you mean save/cache/buffer on phone then to external storage if so configured?
I doubt it would do that, as the phone's internal memory is write limited by the same limits as an SD card, correct?

Def a good deal. Compare to $80 64 Class 6 card i just bought.
I like to post a good deal and LIKE to see how ppl react. Some appropriated because they just got a good deal, some will be *****y this and that because they are not free??, ... . People will never be satisfied.
Suggest to others: if you don't like it just because of ANY REASONS, swallow it then move on to the next thread. It may not be useful for you but will be useful for some others.

I'm not real sure to be honest man, it's mostly theory because in the past on slower android phones, after I finished recording it would take a few seconds as it "saved" anything more then a few moments of video. I contributed this to holding locally then transferring to external afterwards. In my head, doing it this way would eliminate any pauses in recording caused by what I would imagine would be slower read/write speeds as the primary partition access is faster then the external SD. We would need a dev/programmer with knowledge of these things to confirm/bust this theory. But anyways, back on track, great deal for a big card.
other sites I check daily for these deals is Woot.com and Tanga.com
Tanga is especially known for funny tshirts for dirt cheap. They both have a few deals per day. Sometimes amazing sometimes less than.

It's a sound theory to me, though I don't 100% agree it does make a lot of sense. Personally I'd chalk it up to having an older phone, I do know what you're talking about my G1 did the exact same thing.
As for speed differences between different classes of SD cards, though it is hotly debated, I've personally did a little seat of the pants bench marking between my class 2, 4, 6 and 10 and in the end my class 10 was only 2 or 3 seconds faster on multiple smaller file transfers, when it came to one large file (such as what you'd expect from a 720p video) the difference was negligible.
As for the main post, it's one heck of a deal. if i hadn't already bought a class 10 i'd jump on this. Heck, I own a tablet, I might still order one.
Also if you want to check out daily deals, check out dodtracker.com. it's a collection of deal sites. its not very pretty, but it does get the job done.

Wow, you wern't joking that is ugly. Once I figure out how to navagate it I'm sure it'll be useful. As for my theory, ohwell, it's just a shot in the dark. If anyone's thinking about this card, act now before it's too late, there will be a new deal tomorrow.

I was on the fence about ordering this one, and then I read another post on how to store a second flash card underneath the back cover.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1550541
So I decided to go for it. I'll use it for everyday stuff. If it works well for HD video recording and playback, then I'm all good. If not, I'll just keep a second card for backup. Thanks again, Chief.

Glad I could help. Todays deal is a set of decent looking BlueTooth headphone for $15, perfect for anyone looking for a cheap set of gym headphones. After having a nice pair stolen I buy cheapies for the gym now. Usually RocketFish, but may get a pair of these to keep on hand just incase.
