[Q] memory card problem - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright, I have a 2gb memory card which had worked fine until I started rooting my phone and doing all that stuff. Now the phone detects the memory card and it's working fine, but the pc detects that there's some storage thing but doesn't really recognize it. It doesn't even show how much space the card has or anything, it's just disk E. Yes, I do mount the memory card when it asks.

Are the drivers for your device installed on your pc?

I think so, yes. But just in case, where can I get a pc suite or something with the drivers?
I've just tried reinstalling amon ra, and the phone pugged to the pc just fine. I think this happened because of the phone reset. Someone had the same probem and says refashing heped him, but how can I reflash if I can't even put the zip file into the memory card?

What device do you have?

Vodafone 845/huawei u8120

Try placing your sd card in the card reader on your pc, then putting the rom on it so you can reflash it.

no micro sd card reader in my pc, only sd and others. And I don't have an adapter

sometimes when i connect the phone the memory card gets dec=tected but only for like half a second and then just doesn't recognize it anymore

Anyone? I press mount in the usb setting and the drive appears but when I click on it it says ''please insert a disk to drive J''. I've found some search results via google on this but nothing worked for me. My phone is vodafone 845

Vista doesn't recognise 2 gb storage card, microsd

Hi, I've got this big issue since I installed Vista: it can't recognise my 2gb storage card if I put it on my usb card reader; Vista asks me to format it and if I agree, it formats micorsd as 1 gb storage card; then I put my microsd on my phone (TyTN, WM6) and also the phone sees it as 1Gb. Then, if I reformat micorsd by the phone, for example using pocket mechanic, I can obtain again 2 Gb storage card, but just on my phone. If I insert it again in my usb card reader, Vista doesn't recognise it and it asks me to format agin.
I've tried to formata as FAT32 and top chanche cluster dimensione but nothing to do.
Please, could someone help me?
Thank you.
Gianni
Can you forget using the card reader and use wm5torage instead, using your device as a usb drive with your card? That's what I do. Just a suggestion. Unfortunately, I can't help with Vista... I use XP. Sorry.

I forgot to say that I've already tried using WM5torage, but it doesn't work anyway: Vista doesn't recognise driver and it's not successful, so I can't use it.

Had the same issue and turned out my card reader was just old. I bought a new one by Sandisk, and having no problems now.
Thank you for suggestion.
If it can be useful, I've solved my problem installing CARD EXPORT II and modifying "usb to pc" connection. Now I can connect my Hermes by USB and it works as a card reader.

2gb Sandisk MicroSD Card wont format, cant read on PC

my 2gb card wont work anymore, i can format it countless times through my tp2 but when i plug it into my pc as disk drive it shows up as a removable drive like it should, but i click on the drive and it says it needs to be formatted, but before i can finish formatting, it says windows was unable to format it, i can access it on my pc through windows mobile device center, but i need to be able to access it through "my computer" any suggestions on how to fix this? i tried using a card reader but it wont show up at all, and i always lose my card readers anyways so i prefer to stick to usb cables

Maybe it's just time to get a new card. They're awfully cheap. You can replace a 2GB microSD card for about a dollar. I'd suggest getting a higher capacity, though.

SD Card won't mount

I've looked at the other threads on this but, none seem to match my problem.
I've a 16 GB MicroSD card in my S2. S2 is not-rooted running stock ROM.
This card used to mount ok. It no longer will.
In Settings->Storage, space reported is unavailable (because it's not mounted).
I can run Format SD Card option which returns quickly.
Running Mount SD Card, it's says Mount in Progress but it never completes.
If I put the card into an SD card reader, it looks fine. FAT32 formatted card, with approx 16GB available.
Any ideas?

I had similar problems with two other sd cards.
First running without any problem, and then suddenly the message appeared that the sd card is empty or not connected.
In both cases, the sd card was broken.
But in my cases, the sd card could not be used in a USB adapter by PC either.
As the sd cards were nearly new, I could make a warranty replacement and now I have got a card which works fine for about two months.
You can check this, by switching the sd card into another phone.
And use another sd card in your phone.
If the other card will work in your phone and your sd card will have issues in the other phone too, replace the broken sd card.
Good luck !
P.S.: You should format the sd card with your phone and not by your PC.
Other MicroSD Card works

Thanks for the response. I should have said that another 4GB card worked in the phone ok. This did lead me to think it was a card problem. However, he fact it works via a PC indicates otherwise.
Will try it in another phone.
Just throw it away?
Has anyone seen this before i.e. not working in phone but ok in SD reader?
If so, did you manage to resurrect it? Or is it time to throw it out?

Try this. Settings>Application>Development
Check usb debugging.
Connect phone to pc. In notification bar click "usb connected" message, and click on "connect usb storage" button. You won't see the sd card mounted in pc!
Now disconnect phone, reboot. It might mount
See if there's any luck.
Since you're not rooted, solutions are quite limited in numbers

Memory card corrupt!!

I was taking some pictures on my s3 yesterday and randomly the camera went black. The whole phone packed up so I took the battery out and put it in again and started the phone back up.
Now my memory card isn't recognised, and even when I put it into a USB memory card reader to my PC, it doesnt show up either.
If I put the memory card in my phone, and connect my phone to PC using a USB cable, the device shows up under Portable devices, and then shows phone and memory card capacities. But when I click on the memory card, it says no files!
Any help please!? I had loads of photos and videos on the card that I need back!! It won't show up under My computer so using recovery software is pointless.
Thanks
Sounds like your sd card is broken. Just to make sure, try another card reader and another usb port on your computer. If it still doesn't show up, get a replacement.
no matter what , data is gone
try low lever hdd format app
and try re formatting it and seee if u can save ur sd atleast
RECUVA or similar programs may recover some data .

When I put the card in my phone, and connect the phone by USB to my computer, it shows up there, but when I click on it, there's no files. The memory is still showing as being used, but just not accessible.
The card doesn't show by itself on the main My Computer screen.
Here's a screenshot....

[Q] Micro SD Card not recognized after CWM Backup

Hi.
Before flashing my SGIII to the newest OmniROM I made a backup using CWM. I backed up my files to the mounted external Micro SD Card. After flashing I found out, that the SD card was not recognized by my phone. The mount button in Storage Settings was greyed out.
I tried connecting the Micro SD Card to my Windows 8.1 computer with a Micro SD Card reader. No reaction on computer. Micro SD card doesn't show in My Computer (it did before I made the backup). It doesn't even show in Device Manager or in CMD.
I have tried multiple recovery programs on my PC, but none of them recognizes the card. I even tried cleaning the pins.
The files aren't important, if I could just figure out how to format/reset it.
Thank you all in advance.
Best Regards,
Andreas B. Ostergaard
Pardon, bump.
Just bumping again.. Please let me know if I should add more information etc.
I guess I should try another forum. Sorry for spamming!

If your still here, try connecting the card reader to your pc and go to partition manager on windows, let me know what it says I might be able to help you format it but obviously you will lose your stuff man.
