[Q] can I make gt choose best wifi signal? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I configure my Galaxy Tab 8.9 to select the strongest open wifi network? I have two ssids in my house, and I'd like my tab to change over automatically when I move from one ssid's optimal range to the other.
Thanks.

[Q] Why I can't connect anymore to my 5ghz channel of my router?

I was able to connect to the 5ghz channel with galaxy s2 I9100, but I can't do this anymore, I didn't change anything, it was sudden. It's weird because the phone connects perfectly to the 2.4ghz band of the router, I am using a dual band linksys E2500, I try to modify some settings, changed 802.11a to 802.11n, tried all the channels, changed 20mhz to 40mhz. Can anyone help me?

Try to switch the selected wifi band in your phone in:

[Q] wifi band configuration

I was quite surprised to see there is no configuration to choose 2.4ghz or 5ghz, on top of this I cant find a way to view the current band in use. Why make a dual band phone where 5ghz is effectively disabled?
I then read that the option used to exist in 4.0 but was removed in 4.1 and someone made this app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891970
Now this app works, I can now use 5ghz which more than doubles my wireless speed, great right?
Well its ok but it resets to 2.4ghz everytime wifi is turned on again, so the setting doesnt stick. So basically everytime I use wifi I have to open the app and select 5ghz. Even the app itself doesnt report what band is in use, it just allows you to select the band to use.
Is there a way to (a) easily see what band is in use and (b) set 5ghz as the default.
Thread moved to porper forum.
I have tried giving 5ghz its own wireless ssid so seperate from 2.4ghz but then its much slower. It seems when the ssid is shared, it uses some kind of parallel mode where both can be used at the same time.
So what I want is when 2.4ghz and 5ghz share the same ssid and the phone connects to 5ghz. (preferably via an option on the phone).

[Q] hotspot in a non-3G model

To put it simply, is there a way to activate the router/hotspot on a galaxy tab 2 wifi-only?
I know it wouldnt actually share an internet connection, but I would like it to count pings from nearby devices.

Prioritizing Wireless Networks

Hey all, I'm looking to prioritize wireless networks on my galaxy s7 from verizon. I have comcast and have access to their wifi hotspots. Unfortunately I have one of their wifi hotspots near my house and my phone will sometimes auto connect to that instead of my home's secured wifi. Is there anyway to set up a priority list of networks so my phone attempts to connect to my home wifi before any others. Thanks

Tab s7 plus WiFi, connected to samsung smartphone with one button.

Hello everybody, I just bought the WiFi version and I think that I saw somewhere that you can use your galaxy phones data (like WiFi tethering) with only one button. Does anybody knows something about that? Can't find it anywhere.
On my Samsung Note 10+: go to Settings, Connections, Mobile Hotspot and Tethering, turn Mobile Hotspot on.
There's also a toggle for Mobile Hotspot on the quick panel (the panel that you get by dragging it down) , that's the quickest way.
This also works on other Samsung phones (don't know them all of course) , not sure about other brands.
I know about tethering. I was looking for something else and I think I find it. Is bluetooth tethering, if the tablet doesn't find a WiFi network it uses the phones data through Bluetooth. I try it with tab s7+ and note 10 plus but I run a speed test and the download speed is extremely low 0.25 Mbps...
