In the KAISER section all links and stuff about HTC Album, gestures to manage pictures.
I tested with PK 3.0 ROM an it WORKS at 128 DPI the menus are 1/4 of the screen, but slideshow is in full screen.
Nice app, needs to be "SKINNED" to work for us, od just used at 192 DPI!
In fact, it's necessary to modify the .xml to reskin completly the app....
It's long but work

and delete the skin cache dat file in windows, and some minor reg edits..
currently got this running in Portrait 96dpi two columns thumbnails with a preview in the middle of the screen. Still need some work, but I'm getting there.
Is quite a neat app.
Let us know... and also a 128 DPI version for elderly perople will be great!

I second the motion for a 128dpi version but deny the part about old people
Guys you can manage this yourselves.. Not rocket science
change the shortcut to the album, get rid of the mode and other flag.
have a look at the reg entries under hklm/software/htc and see which ones a relevant to you.
change some of the flags in the skin_p xml file, i doubled the w= sizes and the width and height of the thumbnail setting to get a bigger preview.. on that same line you can change the colums and rows.. you may need to change the size of the mask file for preview depending on what you want.
if you look carefully you can change the menus & options etc..
finally delete the skincache .dat and restart the album..(need to do this everytime you change the skin xml).
worst comes to worst you can always reinstall the album cab if you **** up..
so far Ive not been able to get the right hand 3rd of the screen refreshing, if you run with 6 or 7 colums then you can get the outside of the boxes showing on a mouseover, but the way i run mine it leaves a trace of the edge of preview on the screen.
will pop my xml and change mask bmp up in a zip later, just back the originals up.
I haven't tried editting the xml file yet, but I have noticed that when I start the Album, the orientation is inverted lanscape, even if windows is in portrait. There was a file on the original Kaisar thread to start it in a normal orientation, but it doesn't work (or at least not on the Athena anyway)
Anyone know how to get it to start in a right handed landscape orientation, that is, the default for the Athena?
Very nice find by the way, I rarely look outside the Athena forums, so don't find things like this, but I'll be sure to keep a look out now, thanks a lot

I just use the portrait as I can't be bothered with doing two XML files
There's nothing I can see that affects the screen rotation other than the link command -mode:camera in the shortcut, which I got rid of anyway.
Reg entries that seem to make a difference are under hklm\software\htc\touchscroll\htcalbumclass
Enclosed the portrait xml file and picmask, both to go into windows..
**please note these were done for my amusement, and to see what makes a difference, if you don't like em don't moan!
nothing new for me.
everything works perfectly except two things. first, when i open the program it starts upside down. but when i click on a pic it comes up the right way. second how can i tell the program what directory to look in for pics. thanks
Hello all,
I am about to get my mitts on an Ameo with Project Dual on and like using RealVGA on my Uni so looking forward to it on the big screen however as we all know some progs just will not take to working under VGA. In another thread that I started in Hack & Dev hacking in the hires string using reshacker was suggested but some programs still use QVGA for the touchscreen mapping so all the inputs are somewhere up in one corner or another for example.
My idea is this, would it be possible to have a wrapper or something similar that forces the screen back to 192dpi while running a non VGA happy app then hops back to 96dpi when you exit. This could help with a lot of apps from some of the GPS stuff to old games that people still like to play.
Is this possible or am I asking to much of the Windows Mobile platform
unfortunatly when changing the resolution, it has to soft reset, so I dont think this would be possible.
Another possible solution?
OK if we can't change the screens DPI on the go another thought is this . . .
At present some apps mainly games (although there must be a few applications like GPS or such with similar issues) can display the graphics at fullscreen 96dpi but the touchscreen only accepts input from the top left of your screen which is basically a QVGA 320x240 sized box as they were only ever programmed for that type of screen, I have attached a quick layout drawing to give the idea (the same thing would happen if the app is in portrait as well)
This leads to the problem that you have to guess where everything is in relation to the display which is not much use really, my idea is if we could hijack the input on the screen and translate the 96dpi x,y co-ords to the apps native 192dpi co-ords (halfing them should work I guess) so as far as the app is concerned it's back on a regular screen and everyone wins
If this is a possible way round it we just need a program similar to Hou Ming's (a.k.a. the Mad Programmer) Force-Hires tool to list which apps we want to fix and when it runs away we go
This was a duh moment for me, so learn from my fail.
If your having issues with apps not allowing you to update/install and the online market says your device is not compatible and you've modified your lcd density, comment out that line in your build.prop and reboot. Open the market after and poof, market works again. Likely the reason folks smarter than me (djsteve, etc.) comment this line out or exclude it by default in roms now...

Thanks for the information...
I was confused because this happened today after re-flashing the rom and adjusted the LCD density... (DS5 to 200, Galaxy 5 to 130) but should give up to adjust LCD density to suitable for me because of this market problem ?? Not easy to decide....
Is there any other solution ???
Thanks, anyway... help me to save my time a lot to find out the problem...
there are no known solutions to this problem except a couple cheap tricks (only one in fact: freeze the market updater, uninstall all market updates and manually install market v2.x, but you still wont be able to install from the website).
also it is nothing that rom chefs/devs can solve: it's a "feature" google implemented in the latest market versions. of course it's device independent, too.
the only good lcd densities are 160 (streak default) and 240 (big UI small estate, like all normal 4'' screen phones).
I run my streak @ 240 dpi and have occasional issues with the market, I use lcd density changer app to change the dpi, it's easy enough to reset to 160, install the app, then reset the lcd density....not a hassle, really (I wish it wasnt necessary but oh well, I guess if I want to tweak the device around, having to do that is part of the tweaks needed)

weird, 240 dpi shouldnt be an issue (as a matter of fact, on mine it isnt) because it's a standard setting. most phones (like sgs2, sgs, sensation etc) use this value.
240 may be standard with most devices, but not the s5.
240 breaks the dialer, ui wise on 2.2, completely on 2.3
The default dpi is 160, why stuff doesnt show up on market might have to do with the way the app author published it, or it could be a bug

yes, but it's a standard setting. hdpi has 240 mdpi has 160. Therefore publishing an app that isnt compatible with 240 would be overkill for a developer. Regarding this there is a bug report on google, link:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=19744
the problem, it seems, is related mainly to a change of policies from google: now developers MUST explicitly declare compatibility with non-standard lcd densities whereas in the past it was simply ignored.
I recommend everyone to star the issue at the above link (but don't comment as every comment generates notif email)
Hi...
I did not see this posted in the GSP threads so I am putting a link for anyone interested in playing with the Asus Widgets with their Galaxy Players.
Just to let everyone know, I did not create or mod any of the widgets so I am not taking any credits for the work. Just providing a link for some cool widgets.
Anyway, I tried all the widgets posted on the link and every one of them work good for my setup. I am using CM9 with dpi set at 190 on my YP-G70 GSP 5.0 INT. I am sure this will work with US version too.
I am not sure, however, if this will work with roms other than ICS roms. If anyone with the GB rom wants to try and report, that would be great.
Please follow directions on the OP of the link.

All these widgets need to be copied to the /system/app folder. Permissions need to be set to rw_r__r__. Reboot and enjoy. You will probably want to back up the original apps (email.apk, exchange.apk and deskclock.apk) into another location for safe keeping in case something goes wrong.
The Asus weather widget is a bit of a problem if you live in the US and require F readings instead of the C reading. The save button is hidden and the settings cannot be saved. You need to temporarily change the DPI to 120 in order to set this widget for F temp reading. At DPI set to 120, you can see a sliver of the "Save" button on the corner at portrait mode. Hit this with your desired settings. Once the settings are saved, you can go back to your original DPI and the widget will still work with your new settings.
So... enjoy...

Thanks bro, you know there is I
A working tablet mod for the sgp 5.0 right?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
I'm playing around with Carbon after trying Revolt for a while and I can see where I can set the DPI, but not the DP. So, I can shrink my icons, but the relative space on my homescreen is still the same (4 x 4). On Revolt you could use PA to change the DP to 600p or something, but I can't find any way to do that here.
I've searched and can't seem to find anything, but that could be because I'm pretty new to all this and might be searching for the wrong thing (DP, PX, 600p, Resolution, etc.). Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Nevermind, I found this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2072081
