[Q] Maps apk or GPS? - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if anybody out there is having this problem. So for the past week if i were to use Maps apk it would locate me while driving and then all of the sudden after it locks the gps icon goes away and just shows were it locked on to me last. It would always be correct as in location but wouldn't follow me after lock. I would have to turn on then off gps and then restart maps to get it working. It constantly does this within the past week. Iv'e even cleared cache, tried older maps apk versions and did a clean wipe and format and reloaded the latest nightly and this still continues. Ive tried GPS status app to reset and download a-gps and i get 3-5sec locks but following me while drive craps out and looses me. so I was wondering if anybody is experiencing this?
Edit: Im rolling back to one of my nandroids, N184 (2.3.5) and seeing if it repeats. 2.3.7 dont like me after clean wipey
edit: I restored the nandroid and was getting the same results. i've even tried maps apk as old as 5.7. We're currently on 5.10.1. So now i've found a simple way if getting to work is to turn on and off the GPS and restart current 5.10.1 maps. sorry this probably should of been posted in the apps or nightlys section. Spare my life

[q] searching for gps help!!!

Ive tried everything but cannot get the GPS to sync up always searching
Ive taken the battery out multiple times
cleared cache
done the old open maps up let it sit for 5 minutes close maps open NAV let sit for 5 minutes and then go back to maps
I even heard the extended battery helps to find signal initially
downloaded apps from market to find a GPS signal but none happened (gps status) with the tools download
None of this worked and cant find much about it on the Thunderbolt
not many threads that i can find googling
Does anyone know if this is a known issue or there is a way to fix this ???? any help would be appreciated
Do you have all 3 boxes checked under location? Menu-settings-location -VZW, Standalone and Google.
Check all 3
With gps status, run the app then -menu-tools-managae a-gps state-reset. see if that helps..
This happened to me after I was running a non stock rom, lost gps for no rhyme or reason, cleared cache, didn't help, reset factory defaults, ran gps status, nothing worked. The only was I was able to get gps working again was to flash the stock rom using fastboot. It started working instantly afterwards.

I have the same problem on the stock Thunderbolt. It's never been rooted and every time I launch the Nav it sais Searching for GPS and takes forever to find something.
For rooted users
Better GPS from Ziggy471
If I use fastboot will my phone still be rooted? I'm a noob.
to fix it for me i had to turn gps on then downloaded GPS Status from the market
then goto menu while in gps status app goto tools then click on manage A-gps state
then download
then i had to go outside and wait for it to see several satellites back out of gps status then go into navigation put in a destination and it finally hits and catches a signal
once it initially finds a signal i had no problem finding it within seconds inside or out
but that first time takes some steps to get
ohh and i also have ZIGGY471 gps twaek loaded also
hope this helps it worked for me

[Q] GPS not fixing position - Morrisoft 0.8

Hi guys,
I've been using Morrisoft ROM since version 0.7 and since then, after some period using the phone the GPS simply stops to fix position and it never comes back, only with fresh install. I've tried with GMaps, it shows huge area of confidence, and with sports tracking apps like MiCoach or Endomondo I've had no success either: it keeps trying to find satellites without success. I've also tried to install the GPS fix provided by Notorious544d for Neutrino, but it didn't work also.
Does anyone have a clue of what's going on?

well,
my friend i have used tens of roms and costum roms, with this phone locking gps is almost impossible.
it's a shame because it is a beautifull phone but i got good gps with old phones like samsung i7500 and htc hd2 i can not understand why this phone has this weakness.
also tried gps fix apk and agps usa fix not results.

GPS doesn't work, have tried other threads

I went from a working GPS, to rooting with root66 then CASUAL to unlock the bootloader. In jedi rom, which says it has a GPS fix, the gps does not work. Going back to my restore file that is stock, the gps does not lock on. Also I have tried calling the ##GPSCLRX# and wiping everything and trying to write a new file. The other major change I have tried is getting google wallet to work (changin the build.prop but that has been restored since I have edited).
Any fix for my gps? Any config files out there or something I can do to check the settings? I'll post in here if I find the solution but nothing seems to be working. I have tested another phone in the same spot and the gps signal seems to be fine. Have also tried to while moving. I can get an accurate "lock" within 20m on google map but navigation is always "searching for gps"
Is verizon doing something to block me from gps? Any ideas how i can fix this?
** have tried turning off my wifi, the wifi does disrupt it but is not the cause**
- possibly trying a new rom have tried jedi and clean, downloading PACMAN
Yup, no replies... but anyway
What I did to fix the GPS signal on my SCH-I605 VZW note 2
Wiped the system, cache, dalvik and factory reset in twrp 2.3.2.3
Installed Jedi, and seems to work on meanbean.
Did not enable anything, did not setup anything, and did not use the phone after booting.
Went to google play store and got the gps tool, idk the one that pops up when you type in gps
Found a good signal, the green bars were all up and waited a few, read somewhere ~15 minutes. After that installed maps and was ok!
Build.prop was set to default, root66 and casual used to root unlock. Hope this helps
You might not have gotten any replies because this has been repeatedly discussed as the fix.

[Q] GPS on Dubbsy rom not working

I've been on Pure.V5.4.1 since it was uploaded. For the last 4 days (at least), Maps/Navigation hasn't worked at all. I get an hourglass and then 'No Network Connection' (or whatever the message is) or if I'm on the map itself it just never fills in - a blue screen. I do have network - either WiFi or LTE (I can run chrome and do a search, etc), but Maps never connects. Clearing the Maps data/cache didn't help. I the past I needed to do that when installing one of your roms so that it would ask me for the basic permissions again.
Any ideas? I must have Maps!
Peter
The GPS issues across the board with this device are strange. I'll have to sit down and figure it out one of these days.
Basically, the arguably weird fix for any and all GPS issues is boot into a TW ROM(backup your current install) get a GPS fix in TW. Then restore your desired ROM.
It seems really weird to me because I don't see why GPS configurations would get messed up randomly and by only non-TW ROMs.
sent from my GE gs4
"No Network Connection" in Google Maps
I have the same problem with the new version of Maps only if I start the Navigation app first.
If you open the Maps app first, then start navigation through there, it locks on and searching for a destination works without error.

I tried that before posting, with no luck. However, following Dubbsy's suggestion to flash a TW rom, get Maps working and then re-flash v5.6 worked perfectly!

i have weird issues with it as well(paranoid android) the newest build (396) fixes it but breaks just about everything else lol, ill have to try this tw fix

Need some advice with GPS and gogoalies wifi fix

Greetings,
I have a rooted phone that I rooted before the gs4 safestrap was invented. So recently I tried out Hyperdrive 18 and 19. Consistent issue that I kept having is my wifi would drop every 30-40 seconds and reconnecting. I was unable to recreate the issues with Cyanogenmod 11. It appeared to only be with the hyperdrive rom. I did some googling and found someone say that their issue was resolved with the Gogoalies Wifi fix. I figured what the hell and gave it a shot. Phone rebooted and I was unable to turn on wifi and it took about a minute until I could get a cellular signal. Reflashed the rom and it booted up fine. I'm back on Cyanogenmod but it really feels like something is still wrong with the phone. I can't get the compass to work on the phone inside google maps. I tried a compass app and it is completely off. Now when I drive, the maps do not show an arrow of what direction I'm facing and I also don't have a solid lock.
So my question is does this wifi fix effect the GPS as well as other aspets of the phone and if so, can someone direct me what I need to undo the damage or suggest a better fix?
