Has anyone found an effective stylus and program to use it with for business purposes? I'm trying to mark up PDF blueprints while working at construction sites.
Basically, I've purchased every pdf program I can find which allows editing drawings (2 or 3 of em) and I purchased a capacitive stylus. The stylus needs a ton of pressure and when drawing a line it always will appear broken in spots. Also, it always looks like I'm writing on documents with a crayon.
Any suggestions are appreciated before I give up on my Gtab. Perhaps my stylus isn't good? Perhaps the Gtab just can't handle this application.
Targus Stylus
I've used used this one: Targus Stylus
(though mine is black) and have had moderate sucess with it. I requires a little more pressure than I'd like. I've also gotten the $1 ones from China off from eBay... don't bother with those. They didn't work. I couldn't imagine how you could mess up a glueing a rubber end on a hollow tube, but they worked just like you described above.
ByteWrencher
I use a program called EzPdfReader. I bought the pro Version, and it works for what I need as a student. The trick I use is to write really large, then shrink it down and then move the text where I want it. Also you can change the color of the text, and the thickness of the lines.
Thanks for the replys. I'll continue to try to figure out the best way to mark up diagrams and blueprints. I've also tried EZPDF Reader Pro but I think that Foxit worked a little better for me. With both programs I had mixed results saving my annotation (I lost it a couple of times) but again the biggest prob was with the stylus itself. I may try the Targus which you recommend however it sounds from your description that I may be disapointed.
If anyone else has any suggestions keep em coming this way.
I have used Repligo Reader to mark up pdf's with good success on other tablets and even sign with my finger on my phone. I will try a stylus on my gtab later and will let you know.
Edit - I tried it on my GTAB with a targus stylus and it works reasonably well. No excessive pressure needed.

Thanks for the comment. I'm going to try the Targus.
I got the Dagi 506 direct from Dagi with free shipping ($20 or so). It's 10X better than the cheap foam tip Ebay stylis in terms of sensitivity and can write a fine line. I haven't used it for real on a job site but this may be the stylus of choice. It is however not perfect as when you draw a long line the sensitivity seems to change slightly on its own at times.
Stylus+ Screen Protector and Anti-Glare
Hey I guess this is kinda my first post but love installing the different ROM's and giving them all a shot. Anyway I found that the iFaraday Stylus works awesome and it's pretty cheap compared to some. Just google iFaraday you'll find them I also I picked up a 3 pack of anti glare screen pro's over at amazon for $8 just google "HHI ViewSonic gTablet 10.1 Anti-Fingerprint, Anti-Glare, Matte Finishing Screen Protector (3 Pack) (Package include a HandHelditems Sketch Stylus Pen)" I am using them currently just wanted to tell everyone about them. Do not try to apply screen protector dry I use rubbing alcohol spray the shield when you pull the screen side layer off may take a few days for all the bubbles to come out but squeegee the crap out of it and you'll be fine!!

I got one of these for Christmas and love it. No, I'm not affiliated with the company.

Great way to keep fingerprints off your shiny screen.
Doesn't look like it has a very fine point which would be the only reason I would want a stylus, for more precision... When I'm trying to grab something my steak fries are too big for..
It's got a domed tip that is squishy, so it's as precise as you want depending on pressure. The whiteboard app is the only thing I've ever seen that took advantage of a fine point and it works perfectly.
I iPad Touch came with a similar stylus. Works great. My wife got some from Taiwan that have angled rubber ends for about $0.50 a piece. They work pretty good too. Similar to an pencil eraser.
So far I haven't needed on on the G-Tab and I've got "huge" fingers.
Try it with multi memo
I have one and have used it, briefly, with an app called multi-memo for taking notes.
Those Chinese ones are so cheap. They are too light and you have to drag them across the screen minimizing accuracy. I bought it for Stickdraw, def. Not worth it. I think i'll try this one.
Is it kind of heavy or really light? I want one that's heavy like a pen.
The stylus actually has some weight to it and does indeed feel like holding a real pen, it looks and feels like a quality handwriting implement. You'd have to really work to damage the metal casing, it remains to be seen how durable the rubber dome tip will be.
Took me a few minutes to get used to the squidgy, bulbous tip but then I was navigating around, playing games with it and testing my handwriting in a paint-mode note in 'Note Everything'. If only I could find a notepad application with good handwriting recognition*, I'd be in hog heaven...
* One that actually recognizes properly formed characters, not abstract sets of strokes
I bought one of those cheap Chinese ones (3 pack for $6) and was really disappointed. Then I looked online for ways to make your own. I was familiar with using those antistatic bags from hard drives and computer components, but then noticed one method that uses a common household sponge.
I took an old metal pen I had that I really liked, but didn't have ink anymore and took the tip off. I then cut off a small cube of a new sponge (with my wife's permission) and "screwed" it into the spot where the metal tip was on the pen. Worked like a charm.
I tried it on everything from my tablet to my iPod and my phone and it worked great on everything. I playd around with the updated tablet optimized version of Autodesk Sketchbook Express and it worked out great!
There are lots of videos on YouTube of how to make them, but using a metal pen seems to be what looks best. Some of the others look terrible.
Here's a picture, in case anyone is curious. I may get a pack of a different color of sponges because I don't like yellow, but that's all my wife had at the house when I did this project.
I'm also going to retrofit those crappy Chinese styluses I got, as they have metal housings. Should work the same as the pen did. Just need to rip off the rubber heads and maybe drill out the insides to get the sponge to fit and make contact with the housing.
Anyone know of a decent stylus I can buy that will register on the Gen8 screen?
~Jeff
Search some "capacitive stylus" on google, i think you'll find (i don't know a precise one if it was your question)
I use this one :
dealextreme.com : retractable-touch-screen-stylus-with-3-5mm-earphone-jack-anti-dust-kit-for-iphone-3gs-4-silver
but my finger is much better than any stylus
which gen8 device?
for the 28, 32, and 43, which use resistive touch screens, anything will work. i personally have nice results on my 32 using a nintendo DS stylus. they're also cheap, so you don't have to worry about losing them occasionally.
for a 70 or 101, you'd want a capacitive stylus as the above posters suggested.
I've read a lot of reviews and this one seems to be one of the best.. I've haven't bought yet, but plan on getting this one:
Kensington Virtuoso Touch Screen Stylus and Pen
http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Vi...R&s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1309071754&sr=1-2
These stylus are capacitive stylus if you want to search for others.
Also only for the 70 and 101.
This one looks pretty good http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technology-Stylus-iPhone-touchscreens/dp/B0041D0K1Q
Searching for one myself today i found this sick one :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHhB2BF5yQM&NR=1
(the DIY pen is not the sick part, but it looks fairly good)
I myself just ordered a kensington virtuoso stylus, and will see how it reacts when it gets here.

I like the DIY pen. I'm gonna start cutting up some old antistatic bags and see how it works. I have a couple pens, and neither can do dots. It will draw a line, but just pressing to the screen without moving doesn't draw a dot. As soon as it stops moving, it stops inputting. Horrible for Angry Birds, because it lets the bird go as soon as you pull back the sling and start aiming.
I think the A43 digitizer is plastic (which is bad, from the point of view of recognition--glass produces better accuracy), and what's worse, a softer plastic than any of the PalmOS devices I've used. I tried my Clie stylus, and it scratched the screen. I searched for a soft stylus among all the stylus-based devices we have at home, and finally I started using the spare stylus from my wife's HTC TouchPro2. The tip is nice and pointy, but also soft enough not to scratch the screen (or at least not much?). You can probably buy OEM ones somewhere online.
I wish I had a good way of attaching it to the device. Currently, I use the leather sleeve case, and I just tuck the stylus in--it's thin enough that it fits.

Can't say for the A43, but the A101 has a ton of space inside to make a stylus hole.
What stylus do you recomend to sony s, i want to right notes from classes
Please if possible ebay link
none
All of the ones that I know of have a rubber piece at the end and are not suitable for hand writing.
What I don't know is if the new Samsung firm stylus would work.
Hi guy! I've the typical cheap stylus, but I don't recommend you to take notes (I'm in university and it isn't easy to keep pace with him hehe).
A very good pencil is the Adonit jot, I haven't tried it but I've readed that is very good! But is very expensive too...
Link to the typical stylus (very cheap):

Later, to take notes I recommend you the FreeNotes apk....is very easy and, for me, the best apk for this!! hehe. Free in the PlayStore!
Sorry for my english, I'm Spanish...
The best stylus for handwriting on the Sony S tablet that I've found found is the just mobile Allupen. It does take some getting used to and there is a slight delay. It is the only rubber tipped stylus I've run into that you can write with. Also your mileage may very depending on what app you're using to take notes. My personal fave is Freenote.
The adonit Jot works well too, but I thinks it's more suitable for drawing than writing as it will constantly be clicking against your screen if you even write moderately fast. Good for cursive though.
Another good option is the fabric tipped gogo stylus it's exactly the same as the fabric tipped aponyo stylus, but it's a little cheaper.
With any of these you have to get used to writing with them. It's not like writing with a pen. Also all the palm rejection software I've run into has been less then thrilling. I just wear fingerless gloves to solve that problem.
Good luck!
works great

I just got the Adoint Jot and it works fairly well,
http://adonit.net/product/jot/
I'm surprised people have gotten any stylus to work with the Tablet S. I've tried two different iFaraday styluses, which are supposed to be the most sensitive stylus available, as well as a Boxwave rubber tipped stylus, and a dirt cheap generic Ebay rubber tipped stylus. All of these tips trigger a strange constant double tapping action just by touching the tip to the screen. Extremely annoying when in the browser as this causes the screen to constantly zoom in and out. I pretty much just assumed the Tablet S screen simply can't handle styluses.
works perfect

I am thinking about buying a Stylus so I can take notes on my prime. I know I need to buy a certain kind but I am not sure what kind I need. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Autobots, roll out! Sent from my Transformer Prime!
first, dont get cheap chinese knockoffs. ive had 2 of those cheap ebay ones. and they stick to the screen and screeeeeech across it.... horrible.
i have a targus (silver body) stylus for tablets(13$ @ walmart). and it is very nice.
however to make it smooth for writing/drawing you will need an app like TouchScreenTune
you have to pay like 5$ for the license key...
but it makes the screen sensitive enough to draw a smooth round circle.
and is very quick.
good luck
If you want to use stylus for note taking...i would recommend adnoit jot pro...or dagi range of transparent tipped stylus...i hear that wacom bamboo is also good...
but the problem with rubber tipped ones is that you cannot see through to what you are writing and they are not that precise...
or you can skip all the costly ones and go make one for yourself using high density antistatic pu foam...I use this along with touchscreen tune app (thanks to the awesome developer pay him 5$ or set values every time you unlock your device) and it feels closer to normal pen as it can be...(see that forum for proper settings)
pros - ultra cheap, customizable, better performing than any i have used from the market.
cons - little less stylish, takes a few tries first time to get it right...
you can search instructables.com for detailed instruction on how to make one...you might also improve the design to your skills/liking...

here is my homemade fine tipped (almost) perfect writing stylus...
Your picture doesn't seem to want to load lol. I'll try to make my own. Just need to find some of that foam XD
I got my 12.2 yesterday and also the Bamboo UK2, and the S-pen replacement (said official Samsung, but the box was trashed and open when I got it). All from Amazon.
I've tried all three and they all seem to work pretty well. What I did was various drawing and scribbling with each, followed by drawing some technical shapes repeatedly and trying to connect and match lines. Also understand I have a cheap plastic screen cover on the 12.2, I'll have to see what I think when I get my glass cover.
The included stylus is nice and I like the tip on it the best, but its way too light. This internal stylus the hovering dot is the most on target (from viewing with my eyes) with where the mark will be on the tablet. It matches very well also if I don't look at the dot and just act like the tablet is paper. Drawing hexes was great, but the lines are very heavy, not much pressure difference here. I would choose this one first, except its too flimsy.
Bamboo feel UK2. Nice weighting to this pen, but I don't like the rough plastic surface, it feels like I'm holding raw wood (yuck), why didn't they make it smooth? The hovering dot seems off with where the tip is, a pixel or two off it seems like, and it changes with the angle I'm holding the pen. I don't like that. However if I don't pay attention to that, and just draw like the tablet is paper, the marks come out right where I want them to and expect them to. That is good. This pen has the best pressure sensitivity, it is easy to make thin or thick lines. This is the one I'm choosing to do most work with right now.
Samsung replacement S-pen with eraser. Too light. This pen has a similar offset as the UK2, but its different somehow, the offset is different between the dot and the pen in a different way. This pen also does work well if I forget about the hovering dot and just draw. I would choose this pen third of the three, but I'm going to try the mod/trick putting it into a G2 and see how that works out.
So overall I don't really like any of these pens, but the UK2 feel works out the best for me I think in terms of overall functionality. The cheap jerks only send two replacement tips with it (one hard, one soft). All the rest had at least 4 if not more replacement tips.
