[Q] Need help with Motorola Titanium i1q/i1x - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Need help trying to root a Motorola Titanium (i1q / i1x) Nextel phone.
With no section on XDA for this device, I figured this would be the best place to find help.
Device details:
OS: Eclair 2.1-update1
Kernel: 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
Build number: RCD.00.02
I have tried Z4root, Universal Androot, and trying to push su binary via adb ... nothing works.
Need more options...

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Bump......

rooted
BUMP, I just made it, i get root on my Motorola Titanium i1x with Unlockroot.
at first try, it fail, but then i try one more time i just change the debugging mode to modem and then i go back to debugging mode and success really quick , yaahy.
i install titanium backup and freeze some nextel crapware. So Happy :3

WOuld you care to point us to a tutorial or something? I have a titanium too and can't root it yet? thanks in advance.

you have to download, unlock root from unlockroot(dot)com, for me at first try fail, but the trick is, first you connect your motorola titanium on usb mode, or other than debbuging mode, when you click root button of the unlockroot, it going to say wating for device, then you change from usb mode or whatever u use, to debbugging mode, and really fast will be rooted.
ok again, because my english suck a little.
1. you download unlockroot
2. connect your device, on modem mode or memory card mode (etc any other no debugging mode)
3. Click root on the program
4. change the connect mode on your device to debuging mode
5. Enjoy!!
YOU NEED TO HAVE MOTOROLA DRIVERS.
i hope it helps.

Thank's

Unlock the Motorola Titanium
Were you able to unlock the simlock as well? I need to remove the simlock from my Motorola Titanium. Could you please help?
Thanks.

What is removing a sim lock going to do? You can already use Nextel handsets on boost right out of the box, and there are no others that support iden anyway. Besides iden in general dies in just a couple months, the phone will be a paperweight.

I unlocked my i1 with http://iden-unlocker.com
The manual is way too complicated, but in the real i just had to enable USB Modem in connection menu and hit unlock. After some strings on the software my phone was unlocked.

I beg to differ...I have 3 of these in front of me right now, and iDEN works great with it..and i need to either root or clear the lock codes so my wife can use the phone with her sim.
There's a company with 26,000 employees that use iDEN and they are going to continue using it...so don't assume just because Sprint shut down their iDEN that all iDEN is dead and gone. Far from it. There's a Motorola XT626 that's pretty nice...I'd use it...4.3" qHD and dual SIM.

[REQ]Help me recover from a soft brick/ I will donate.

I know there is threads about this, but I am having troubles, I will be willing to donate $20 to anyone who can help me. I am hoping it will be relatively easy............. I shouldn't have said that.
I loaded a bad framework-res.apk on my phone, and now it won't boot.
I have read DG's thread on recovering from the brick, but I can't figure out how to make it work.
In order to get the framework loaded I used root explorer to copy it over, because I couldn't get ADB to push the file. (I know, if I couldn't get ADB to work why would I muck with it....)
Now the first step in his guide is to boot into fastboot and wait for adb to work, then use superoneclick and hit 'shell root'
well, I can load into fastboot, but adb consistently says "error: device not found" or it doesn't list anything when I check devices. The troubles I was having before with adb were with pushing files, I could still see the device and pull files.
When I did the superoneclick step it ended up freezing the program, and I am not sure what is supposed to happen with fastboot but all it said was starting fastboot protocol support then did nothing.
I would be very grateful to anyone who can help me with this problem, I do have a backup framework on my computer and on the external sd card in the phone.
One thing I should note is that I did originally boot into the recovery mode, but all i did from there was reboot the phone (and go into fastboot mode).
Please help me! I have learned my lesson.
does the phone turn on
Do you have USB debugging enabled?
If you do, its possible to use adb by selecting Early USB Enumeration from boot menu. If not, you'll need to reflash using an SBF.
Come to my gtalk id texasdude11 and I'll help you out on chat.

from what i gather, it turns on, but won't fully boot into android.
by that token, early USB enumeration will allow ADB to work on the phone usually, but in this case i believe debugging was turned off before his device was bricked. so, he can't boot into full android UI, and also can't use ADB to push the restore files because debugging is off.
i've seen this problem with one person before, but i couldn't find a way to force debugging on without going into the UI, if someone can chime in with a way to turn debugging on without initial ADB access, or UI then this problem is solved and more than one person is helped.
Although - he can just reflash if he's on AT&T, if he's on Bell then he's SOL

Sorry, I obviously suck at giving info.
The phone boots but not past the moto screen, I get the flashing red lights and it reboots. I can get into recovery and fastboot (though I suspect fast boot isn't work right since it freezes almost instantly), I also cant see the device in adb while trying fast boot (or anything else for that matter). I could before it bricked.

NO IDEA.
Kenneth made me a script that did it all for me all I did was hit the space bar a few times.
Basically the problem seemed to be on this side of the keyboard.....

Please post this script so that we may use this in the future
yes, please post the script toughbax or kenneth so that all can benefit from it, i already bricked and returned one atrix and cant afford to brick another. thanks in advance toughbax and kenneth

The problem is that the script that ken wrote for the OP only restores the framework-res.apk file, and nothing else. If you really need this to recover from soft brick in the first place I'm not sure if you have the ability to edit it the way that is required.

Enable USB Debugging from Computer

It is possible to enable USB debug from computer? I need to delete some file from the internal memory that causes the problem. I can't connect through adb at all.
I'm trying to fix my secondary phone (Garminfone) that that loads into desktop, but force close launcher and everything else. The only thing that I can do is connect to the computer for file sharing with the phone.
Thank you in advance.
I'm in a bit of a conundrum, myself...
I am attempting to do this, too, but for a totally different reason.
I am a VZW agent trying to extract contacts for a customer from a Moto. RAZR with a completely non-functional touch screen (no display, no function). Phone boots up fine, no sweat. Stock ROM, no backup :crying:, all of the typical means of transfer have been exhausted.
More or less, the only chance I have at succeeding is to either:
Enable USB debugging through some kind of shortcut or trick, or
Somehow, without USB debugging, figure out the user name for the customer's G-mail account (he has two, and cannot remember/doesn't use the one with all his contacts...)
Wouldn't be surprised if it's simply not possible.... but maybe somebody with a bit more knowledge can let us know! :good:
Edit: Hmm, not possible to run adb from the bootloader, but you can run Fastboot commands. None of those seem to be of use for these purposes though...
as mentioned by PhantasmRezound, It's not possible, However. adb is enabled in most recoveries. Also If the device is unlocked ( and you can flash custom recoveries ) in any way you can flash a custom recovery, back up the boot img. pull that off the device or simply put the sdcard in your computer with unpack that, edit the init.rc to start adb. and reflash it with fastboot not quiet what your after but might do the trick.
or
With the non functioning touch screen issue, If the device acts as a usb host, plug a mouse in and away you go
There's always a way.
Thanks for the input...
I appreciate the feedback, but the way I read it... it's either not going to help in this situation, or it's too technical for a noob such as myself and I'm in over my head

Customer's phone is completely stock. Hope I'm following along correctly, but I don't think this is possible without having something like ClockworkMod and pre-existing root access?

Never really tried this... but, I suspect, this won't work... not only does the touch screen not work, but the display is black.
I suppose it could be possible in combination with HDMI-out... but since the HDMI has never been set to "mirroring," I cannot simply plug it in and go (the best and only result I've gotten in this case is the red "M" logo on the screen...)
I would have given up on this hours ago, but it really bothers me when I can't figure out how to do something that appears to be so fundamental and simple...
Thanks for the inputs :good:

Well, I was thinking about this, and I think you can do adb in a stock recovery, should be able to create a backup image with the right software. It all gets a little hazy and wolly on techinical details, so I'm afraid I can't help anyone there.

And you're a noob , I fully understand that my casual, off the cuff, do a,b,c etc reply assumes a lot of technical knowledge, If it's not your phone man, don't stress it too much ..... Just hand it back to them look blankly into the middle distance while shaking your head.....use the following phrase " Nah man you've F*ed this up good, did you not sync it up with your google account at anytime "
Sorry man, I'm drunk, probably shouldn't be at this keyboard now

Unfortunately, Garminfone is a piece of garbage, lol. There's no custom recovery for it. There is nothing I can do now, I guess. I can't get into fastboot or anything because every time I try adb or fastboot it would not recognize the device.

If nothing else, you can do a Factory Reset. You'll lose all data but it will be running again.
Make sure the phone is charged up since this will take a while.
With the phone off, hold down left on the d-pad as you power it on. It will show "Wipe User Data" and then you can let go of the buttons. Just leave it for an hour or so, it will go about wiping and restoring system files from it's own recovery partition.
Also, random Garminfone blog with interesting entries to read while waiting on your phone lol. The person started to develop a port for CWM:
http://mygarminfone.blogspot.com/
PhantasmRezound, I've done tons of wipes but no luck and I'm familiar with the website you posted. Everytime I wipe, I get force process com.android.setupwizard stopped unexpectedly on the phone.
@wolftou
Ok.... A couple more tricks to try for your specific device and then I'm all out of ideas plus it's kinda getting away the original question/topic
1 Android Safe Mode:
Android does have a safemode, exactly the same idea as windows safemode, only needed apps are loaded. This might let you remove the troublesome app.
How to get into it on your device? I have no idea and from my limted research ( google as always ), it appears to vary by manufacturer and probably device. I have booted my tablet into it a couple of times by accident but never really stopped to figure out how, that's not important anyway Just I can confirm this mode exists ( In some androids at least ).
2 Flashing an alternative rom:
Have you tried flashing a different rom? I'm not sure of your model number so I don't whether this is relevant to you but have a look at this thread it looks like you can trigger an update using a sdcard swap trick....
I'm thinking about buying one myself now... just to see what's possible with them, fortunately ( for my wallet at least ) they are not available in the UK and I've got plenty of things to fill my Android addiction for now
all answer not similliar the question
across tablet 8"
i have 8 inc across tablet,i cannot open my tab,,i think the operating not found,,how can i install it..because i cant open the system ,,unit help me pls...
actually i got canvas doodle 2 with no external sd support nd my usb debugging mode is off nd no backup is there in my phone...
but there is adb sideload...is there any way to enable usb debugging? and my phone is rooted and it is stucked at boot logo
Alternative usb debugging...
Hey my phone is stuck in an bootloop.....is there anyway to enable usb debugging even tho i cant get into the phone
My lenovo vibe s1 is showing black screen
I tried rooting my phone by the steps given by your site and now my phone is showing black screen. i tried pressing volume buttons and power button still it is not working. so when i am connecting my phone to computer it gets connected for 1 min and disconnects and again connects after 1 min. so is there any possible way that i can send my phone to USB debugging through computer.

Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36688645&postcount=808
PS.: If you can't get your phone in emergency mode (step 5) you can put in download mode instead. To get it in download mode press and hold volume down and up while you connect your usb cable to your pc
the phone does not go into any recovery mode (emergency) indeed, the PC recognizes it as USB\VID_05C6&PID_9008&REV_0000

To start. What software version is your phone on? Is it 2.3.4 or 2.3.5? Also need to know what root and unlock methods (giving us the name of the thread will be sufficient) you are using and where you got the files. You will need to check these as it could mean the difference between success and a not so pleasant failure.
If there is a check mark next to USB Debugging in -Settings > Applications > Development- then your phone is in debugging mode. You will not see any pop-ups or notifications on your computer saying "Hey! You're in debugging mode".
If this helps, most of the root and unlock guides are written in such a way that it requires no thought on the part of the user. Except for maybe misnaming a folder like I did for the Root-Unlock-Relock pack, you simply follow most guides word for word. All you need watch out for is what Moto software are you on, 2.3.4 or 2.3.5.
*The reason why I asked if you were on G+ in your other thread was because live chat is a far faster why to walk someone through rooting and unlocking than posting in a forum.

I don't know about anybody else but I have never had a debugging icon in the status bar on my Photon or the Atrix.
Photon does not have CDMA unlock codes or GSM unlock codes. GSM unlock requires that your Photon be unlocked and flashing the KDDI radio firmware.
GSM unlock=No CDMA service
2.3.5
Cannot downgrade to 2.3.4
Can be rooted via Photon Torpedo
Cannot be unlocked. This means no custom kernels, no CM9/10, no GSM unlock, most custom ROM cannot be used

How To Remove Root or Unbrick LG K20 PLUS (Metro PCS)

Steps:
1. Turn Off Any Virus Protection Software
2. Download MP26010j_00_0316.kdz To Flash Your Phone Back To Stock
3. Install LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.2.0.exe
4. Next Install LGUP_Store_Frame_Ver_1_14_3.msi
5. Make Sure That You Have Your Phone Connected (Take Battery Out Then Put It Back In Hold Volume Up And Connect With Micro USB) So LGUP Can Be Able To Recognize It
6. Then Double Click UPPERCUT.exe to open up LGUP Now But Only Thing Is That Uppercut will try to verify just ignore and if it doesn't open up just open lgup from desktop and its going to view phone as unknown
7. Unplug Phone But Keep LG Download Mode On And Exit LGUP
8. Open LGUP First And Then Connect Phone Which Should Recognize Phone As MP260

Looked and saw two links for the newest kdz. I'm in the USA so TMO =north america.
But I 'm curios what TMI stands for, no info on that page of region listings.

Not sure about TMI, use TMO North America
I figured I'd post this here to, because I am thinking about getting this phone. It's $99 at metro pcs right now, that's really hard to pass up.
In a twrp+root thread there are some that cannot get root, with the last LG firmware update, so I'm guessing this is a soft brick as apposed to a hard brick.
So, had a question.
If in the case of the like 10% of the people that do this root, the phone won't root or bricks, if I get this phone and and that happens, is it possible to flash the phone via the LG program, with a KDZ file and go back to stock like in this thread? If so I will probably buy this phone tomorrow (crosses fingers the kdz trick will work)
From looking at the videos, it looks as if the LG program is similar to the Samsung Odin program as far as flashing goes, am I correct in this?

I know this thread has not been active for a while. However I have a Metro LG K20 Plus phone and want to change the firmware to T-Mobile. I have not been successful doing this as I always get invalid firmware, because LG UP recognizes the phone as a metro phone. Is there a way to succeed in getting the T-Mobile firmware on the phone?
thanks in advance.

Did you find any answers to this? I have one that is bricked. It will not show up when connected to a computer at all
Virus warning from Avira in Uppercut
lg k20 plus soft bricked?
So I've searched high and low and have tried suggestion after suggestion with no avail. To start things off, I have a soft bricked LG k20 plus. Everything was working fine until the other day when I went to flash a kernel, and when the phone restarted, the screen was a dark grey/black color. I rooted the devices using massis method, removed SU and then rooted using Magisk. Like I said everything was working fine and for whatever reason I decided to try a different kernel. That's when it all went downhill. So now when I turn the phone on, the screen is still blank but it vibrates. When I've connected it to a computer, on my Mac it doesn't show up with ADB or FASTBOOT but in my device tree it comes up as LGE Android device. I borrowed my friends laptop since it runs windows, and my Mac is a dinosaur. ADB doesn't pick it up either, but in a USB hub it says the same thing, LGE Android device and lower down it comes up as TP-LINK. Now tryin to use LG Flash tools doesn't work, LGUP doesn't see my device, and when I tried to extract the KZD file, when I go to select it from the list there is no file to choose. Since I can't see anything on my screen, I can't tell if I'm in download mode, bootloader, etc, but in my device tree sometimes my phone will pop up an bootloader interface and I can use fastboot commands. When I was last able to see my screen, yes, USB debugging was on, I had a recovery, but since I can't see anything on my screen I can't seem to boot into recovery. If I could I would wipe cache and all. I think I may have read too many article and suggestions as to what to do because nothing seems to be working, and don't seem to find anything else related closely enough to my issue. Anyone have a clue as to where I should start? I'll have to give my friend back her laptop soon, and since my mac is so old, and the whole PC vs Mac feud, my computer won't be of much help. Any advice my hair strands would greatly appreciate before they rest are pulled out lol
