I've been using the Dalvik Debugging Monitor (Android-sdk) for screenshots on HTC Desire, but I've got some problems with S II.
I think I'm missing some driver software. Where do I find it, and how do I install it?
Just install Kies on your PC. (You can uninstall it and I think it leaves the USB drives installed)

How do I take screenshots with Kies? I'm on Kies Air now and can't figure it out..
SII actually has a built in screenshot combo - hold home button and then just press the power button. You can view them in gallery.

Thanks, but when I'm holding the home button I get recent apps? I don't get it.
Edit: ok, got it now, just a little tricky.
Yeah it takes some practice to get used to it, but then it's easy ;-)

Thought I'd share. For those of you that are looking for an alternative to the power button LED for missed notifications, XDA just featured an app called Buttonled by GermainZ. Basically, it turns your hard buttons into your led.
Thanks to ewcrider, if you prefer the red power button LED in place of the capacitive buttons, use the first file path on the list, led:red, instead of button-backlight/brightness.
Been using it for a couple hours and it's working great, so far.
Make sure to enable in accessibility.
Find the apk and give all thanks to GermainZ at the link below.

Thanks for sharing. Are you using the HDPI or MDPI version? Sorry if this is a noob question but I don't know what those mean. :silly:
This should also be able to control the power button LED if you desire.

Yep. Select the one with "led:red" in the path. For me it was the first in the list.

You should get a prompt with a warning in the title, click it, then the different options will appear.

I couldn't find it manually, myself. I did the auto locate. My first install was kinda buggy, try deleting the app and try again.

Thanks I'll try that. Btw checking the app under aspect ratio correction makes it fullscreen I discovered.
EDIT: Got it working. Here is the full path for the power LED.

I really like the red. Changing the flash intervals works with this app so I'm happy as a clam now. Couldn't stand the long off delay or whatever it's called, haha.
I saw this in the XDA Twitter feed. It's exactly what I've been looking for.

After my second install I no longer get a laggy app. Might help you too?
Wow amazing find. Thanks for sharing.
Here is how I set it up, if anyone wants to know. This works just like BLN.
Pick the /sys/devices/platform/msm_ssbi.0/pm8921-core/pm8xxx-led/button-backlight/brightness PATH. (Should be the second one)
I set Turn LED on for 7200 (Which, if my math doesn't suck, should be two hours.)
Then I set Turn LED off for 0
Finally I hit, Enable ButtonLED in accessibility. (This took a while to pull up, I recommend doing it yourself through the settings)

Can you clarify a little more what that does. I figure it leaves the backlight on for two straight hours?

That's about it. Basically, if I am awake I will see if there is a notification within the two hours. But if I'm asleep I don't want the capacitive LEDs on for the whole 8 or so hours I sleep. I also don't want them to pulse or turn off if there is a notification. Two hours just seemed like a good medium.
So I have no idea what happened. I lost my quick link window. I hold down the back arrow but the tab doesn't appear. Anyone have any idea of what I did?

Yup. First thing I tried.
Make sure the multi window box is checked in settings or not turned off in the toggles.

Thanks. Seems like the only sub folder I didn't check.
I was wondering if an app can be developed to be able to force stop Android system on command without going into notification pull down and holding down on wifi then clicking app info everytime.
I want to be able to get rid of the wifi notification and beats notification to free up space.
Thanks

I'm relatively sure that force stopping android system is a bad thing. I think that there are mods for removing the WiFi notification around here somewhere though.
Edit: Try This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010278

Yeah I updated the software so I'm not rooted. I was just hoping an app could make this process simpler.

For the persistent WiFi notification have you tried to go into settings and untick the notification, never auto turn on wifi, and turn on wifi when launching apps or something like that I heard that helps stop the nagging

Yeah all those settings are in place. It still shows up in the notification pull down unless I hold down on it, go to app info and force stop Android system every time I connect or disconnect to wifi.

If you have activated Multiwindow in notification panel then to open it you have to push and hold "Back" touchkey under your screen (to the right from Home key). You will see then semicircular tab on the edge of screen. Pull it and you will have MW side screen open.
Every time where this tab disappears from your screen it's enough to push and hold "Back" key again.
ok wait for trying that...
I am also tired to doing that. It just seem error... and Error..:crying:

Frezi, go to www.att.com/devicehowto/. You can do this on your phone, but it's much easier on a PC.
It will ask you what device you want and once you hit select, it will give you a very comprehensive step by step instructions on how to use the options of your phone......including pictures and vìdeos.
If you use your PC, you can hold your phone and try the instructions.
Hope this helps you.

again, I am so sorry if I come off abrasive. it must be your nationality and the structure of your language which is making translation difficult. I have seen you posting an awful lot here lately and sometimes wonder if you are just trying to boost your post count for whatever reason.
anyway, regarding your issue you post about here.........
first of all, I have yet to see you post as to your specific variant of device. if it has anything to do with how this option is activated, you never know, specifics can sometimes mean the difference. you sound as if you don't even know your own device.
as previously suggested, use the 2 finger dropdown to open the toggle option. you should see a marker of sort appear on side of your screen. tap that and applications will then be shown. press on an app, then drag and drop in upper or lower half of screen. so simple, even I figured it out.
if you need a video..........run a search. I did on Youtube and 4 videos cames up.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a02G-RcvQs4
your supposed to be a senior member here.......put your self in a position to help yourself first. if you still have difficulty, folks can tell and are more than happy to help. I don't get the impression you are doing that.
I am no master here by any means, but more often than not, I can figure things out.
good luck and if your issue is solved, please post in your heading.
