how you move your apps to ext partition?
your ext partition should be in /sd-ext (but mine is /data/sdext2)
for my case, i failed to partition through ROM manager.
but I managed to partition manually using mkpartfs and also other alternative way is through ClockworkMod Recovery

with move to SD card option, I moved apps to SD card. I heard that it is enough to move to ext partition. is there any way to move apps to ext partition?

What are you using to move apps to the partition? Its not enough to just create a partition... The FroYo way of moving stuff doesnt need a partition at all (Apps -> Move to SD).
You need another app like link2sd or darktremor's apps2sd that actually makes use of partitions.

I done it in caynogenmod but it didnt works in official froyo ver. Here i used DTapp2sd tool. And how can i know what partition i have (ext/ext2/ext3/ext4) ?
And Thanks for ur answer.

how did you partition your sdcard? did you use your custom recovery? if so:
if you have amonra, it should have first partitioned it to ext2. then it gives you the option to convert ext2 to ext3, and then ext3 to ext4. if you have used one of these options then it should be self explanatory.
if you have clockworkmod, you should have ext4 (as clockworkmod only supports ext4)

if you are moving apps to SD using setting->application then you are moving to fat32 partition which is in .android_secure folder of your SD card.
to move apps to ext partition you have to use apps likes link2sd, DT's apps2sd, s2e

Use S2E if you are using CM7. You must create an ext3 partition for S2E to work. Download it from the market.

Either use gparted (desktop linux app), or clockworkmod. Set swap to 0 if you use clockwork. The ext partition must be the first partition, if you use gparted.
Make sure youre using CM7, not all roms support an sd-ext partition.

Every guide/source I've ever seen says you must put the fat32 partition first, followed by ext partition, and optionally followed by swap partition. I've never bothered trying it any other way but you're definitely wrong about having to put the ext partition first. It might work in either order.
Also just about any of the custom ROMs on this site will support an ext partition, but S2E specifically only works on CM7.
yer thanks all ive done it know i used a partition wizard that deals with linux stuff and work i know have the ext3 at 500mb.
and im using CM7.1 RC
thanks all

Ext 4 Doubt

Guys I have cf root installed and ext 4 manager installed. But I have not converted rfs to ext 4. Ext manager shows no ext 4 partitions found. Can I convert my internal mem to ext4. Also does cf root automatically converts internal mem to ext ?

Ext4 is actually faster in performace and is more flexible for a2sd

I believe CWM defaults to ext4. If you didn't make any other partitions, then your SD card partition structure should be as follows now:
/mnt/sdcard, FAT, primary
/sdext, ext4, primary
Try using link2sd's menu to recreate mount scripts, & choose ext4. Also, make sure you're still rooted properly, and still have expected su access.

I recollect facing the same problem.I guess the problem isn't with link2sd its got to to do with the fact that the stock kernel doesn't support ext partition try flashing a custom kernel that supports ext partition.

Ah, good catch! I didn't notice that.
If you don't want to flash a new ROM, you can format the 2nd partition as FAT, and link2sd has the option to mount that the same way as others.

I don't understand. Do you want to keep stock, or flash a custom ROM? If all you want is to use link2sd, you shouldn't need to flash anything.

Backup your sd card on PC.
Do factory reset
Re partition ur sd card in cwm
Start phone & install link2sd before any other application
Use ext4
If ur kernel doesnt support ext 4
Partition ur card on PC using some partitioning software. use ext2 in this case. And try link2 sd now
Pls let me know if this helps
