Xperia ray ray-out rubber-coated shell jacket - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I really don't know where to post this seeing as how the ray forum isn't up yet. Still, I'm putting this up in hope that some of you find it useful. I can't be the only one who's been looking out for a case for the ray.

Sorry about the low picture quality. Bad lighting and since the ray's in the case, I couldn't exploit the Exmor sensor.
I'm hoping that the images self-explanatory but please feel free to ask if you've any questions.
This is my first post and everyone here knows that n00bs can't post links, just google "rakuten xperia ray RT-SO03CC6" and you'll find it.

it is hard case ?

Yup. It's a hard case but the matte finish is similar in feel to the "rubberized back" of several Sony Ericsson phones (W880, W980, P1, black model of the X10 and mini pro etc.).
The inside of the case is laced with some form of soft plastic as well. Rubberized maybe. Whatever it is, it's coated on the inside in order to better prevent scratching your phone up while you've got the case on. I'm not sure how effective it is, or whether it even makes any difference but I guess we'll only be able to find out much later.

I just purchased a tough case from case-mate
It will take 3 weeks to arrive (in Scotland) from the USA. It's the most solid looking one I could find. I'll let you guys know if it's decent or not once it gets here.
Search google for "Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray Tough Cases - case-mate" - it's the 7th link down.
Blurb from their site -
"Built to withstand sudden drops and accidental falls, the Tough case is the epitome of protection. A snug, form fitting silicone wrap provides shock resistance, while the polycarbonate hard shell protects the Xperia Ray.
Features
Dual layers of silicone and polycarbonate hard shell combine for secure protection
Form fit feature covers back and corners
Available in a two-toned color combination of black/green, black/red
Impact resistant, flexible plastic shell
Access to all ports and functions"
p.s. - Hello to my fellow Ray users and abusers, and to everyone else here too.
Peace.

That case looks great indeed. How decent is it or has it been?

EDIT: Nevermind you were looking for Soft Rubber, Sorry i am not sure but i will keep the links above for others.
I have 5 pieces of standart carbon looking covers, if anyone could find a place to buy these new back covers, please post it. I think the UK and South east mb860's are shipping with these covers nowadays.
http://www.eoem.cc/buy,Motorola+Atrix+4G+MB860+matte+black+battery+cover,5398.html
Although I have no idea if they ship to the US. I am consider picking an atrix up on the cheap. if you do get one shipped, share a couple shots.
Cool, contacted them for 10 pieces shipping to Turkey. Will let you know how it goes.
you should ask them if they come with speaker grill or not.
Is the case rubberized or just standard plastic case.
Bet it is simple plastic, thow I bet it has a little more grip wrt the original due to matte finishing..
As said I am just betting, never seen one of those except from photos..
I emailed eoem.cc about the speaker grill two times but they didn't return. I don't think this is a company that focus on end-buyers but bulk buyers.
That's a shame. I'd love a cover that wasn't as slick as stock.
ever heard of plastidip?

Have you tried that on a cover? I wonder how it'd come out, namely if it'd still stay flush against the camera, how it'd turn out even if you taped the speaker grill, how much thickness it'd add (too much to be used on a dock?), etc.
Sounds like a pet project when getting the battery case or just using a TPU and removing/replacing it would do.

Aesthetic Upgrade with Seidio case and Banggood Screen Protector

What's up guys!
Long time reader and advice-taker, first time poster (as far as I remember ) so I figured I'd make myself useful and review my setup right now. Over the past year and a half my EVO 3D has seen its fair share of drops and scratches. I finally decided to invest in a case, so after having read many reviews I decided to buy the Seidio SURFACE case with kickstand, along with a Banggood privacy screenguard for kicks. After having had the case and screen protector for two weeks now, I'm extremely satisfied with not only the quality of the two, but the new aesthetic appeal to it. The matte of the case matches perfectly with the matte look of the screen protector, making it look like a COMPLETELY new phone. I immediately starting receiving compliments from my friends who would say things like "Whoa, what phone is that?" and "Did you get a new phone?" who had seen what my banged up phone looked like prior to the case. Along with this newfound aesthetic appeal is the functionality of the case; the stand is sturdy and provides multiple viewing angles (a feature i thought I'd never use but actually do) and of course, the case protects the phone. It has survived a drop or two knick-free. For a total of around $30 I'm extremely satisfied.

Skinomi body wraps for Z3?

Anybody use these? They look pretty cool! I'm planning to just put it on the back only (to protect the bottom glass when laying it on a surface). Might order a set of carbon fiber black, or that dark wood!

I considered one of these but i just cant imagine how painful and frustrating it would be applying it. Screen protectors already can be so frustrating haha. If you do please share pics of the after product!
I ordered the silver/white carbon fiber, it's the only easy way to make my black Xperia Z3 white.... T-mobile USA carry just the black version geez.
Looks like super high quality material.
Sent using my Xperia Z3 while underwater
Is this stuff sticking well to the curved areas?
No it didn't stick well to the curved areas. I applied one and withing 2 days it was coming off.
I ordered the Dark Wood one. I'll let you know how it is when I get it.
Enfurno, did you try to re-attach after briefly using a hair dryer? I've seen that suggestion across the Skinomi site, and I'm curious if that helps at all.
Just updating the purchase. I bought the black carbon fiber one. It was very easy to apply and sticks really well (I only applied the rear, not the sides). The cut is very accurate to the phone, with a 1mm gap too thin on one side. So far so good.
The pic does not do justice.
I hear there is a thanks giving sale/discount.
I got the Dark Wood one recently and applied it. The small pieces were a bit of a pain, but using a hair dryer helps to install them. The backside went on very easily. It looks great, I'll try to upload some pics soon.
Also, I'd like to confirm that the 'self healing' does in fact work. I got a rather large nasty scratch on the backside which initially wouldn't "heal", but when I applied heat (I put my hot coffee mug on it, but again, the hair dryer is your friend here) the scratch got less deep and smaller. It's almost gone now, but I think it needs a little more help.
Im looking into getting the Z3 and I have a Z2 today. I want like a rubbery backside because my hands are very dry and its alittle bit slippery. Which one would be best to get to have that rubber feeling?
Does Skinomi deliver to sweden?

[Q] Bumper Case For Xperia Z2

Hey guy,
I was wondering if there are Z2 cases that have metal edges and glass back cover instead of ugly plastic or hardened plastic. The looks of Xperia Phones are awesome but they can break easily if mishandled. (since i broke 4 phones in 5 years ), i cant live without a bumper case and a proper back cover.

Are there any cases like this available for Z2 ? I have tried looking in ebay and amazon but couldnt find anything similar, almost all of them looks ugly and i never found anything similar to this..

none that I know of but the closest you can get is to get a premium aluminum bumper coupled with tempered glass.
popular options include:
Devilcase
Kewers:
There's also the Alumania Edge Line bumper, which has been reviewed in the accessories thread. You have to order it from Japan but there doesn't seem to be a language/postage problem.

Anyone Using this Aluminium Metal Bumper

Hi, I had this, this after some time, this annoys you. Because it feels and it is bigger with the bumper. My bumper was a little thinner, but the same effect
Look for other
I use a similar version, with a cover on the back and this reduce the RF signals (BT, Wifi, Celullar, etc.). If I can recommend something, use another like the "love mei" to fully protect your phone.
I have one at the moment, bought it for 6 dollars . Actually it makes the phone bigger and less comfortable, also you wont be able to use the fingerprint scanner, because the power button will be about 6mm inside the bumper. It's edges are not soft. Buy a silicone backcover.
You should look into DevilCase. They make great bumpers which I've been using for years. Very high quality and doesn't affect cell service. They also make really cool skins but since they're not sold in the USA, the shipping is awfully expensive.
I used an aluminium bumper with a slide on back as a posed to screw together ones. I dropped my device a couple of times and thought it was fine, although the it turned out the frame bumper had warped causing the back slide in section to not sit correctly. The impact also caused the rear glass to smash in a corner which I didn't see until I removed it.
I wouldn't recommend one TBH.
Despite my previous opinion, I am using DevilCase since few months, and I can say only - The phone looks gorgeous!
Well it is slippery (like it is naked), but there is some protection (i dropped it around 10 times without any damage to the phone or the bumper).
Insignificant signal degradation (in my environment - home, office).
devilcase is the best
