i777 talking to me? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

can anyone tell me how to turn off or manage the voice notifications?
I don't want to uninstall vligo (yet), but my phone is speaking notifications like "You have a new e-mail" to me. Not sure I like it but I know I can't control it
Thanks!

[Q] Help - How to Disable Google Voice for Outgoing Calls

Somehow I turned on Google Voice to handle outgoing calls. Now I cannot figure out how to disable that. I only want Gvoice handling the voicemail and nothing more.
I tried searching the interwebs so this is my last report. FYI loving my new Android phone, ex-iPhone 3GS user!
Go to google voice then hit the application button then hit settings. It should be under there, just uncheck the related option.

[Q] Smart Alert on custom notifications?

Hi guys,
Basically I want the benefits of Smart Alert (the vibrate when you pick the phone up if you have a missed call or message), but because the default messaging client is rubbish, I use Handcent SMS. Unless I want to deal with the double notification from Messaging and Handcent, I can't seem to find a way to get Smart Alert to work with Handcent SMS.
Does anyone have any ideas as to if this is possible?
Also, a quick secondary question that may need it's own thread. On my SGS1 I used Tasker to sync my podcasts in the morning by turning on WiFi and Autosync. I tried to set up the same script I had before, but Auto-Sync 'is unavailable on this device' which is really grinding my gears.
Thanks xda, keep up the great work.

Would be nice if this would work on Handcent. I set it as the default app for messaging. Maybe handcent has to fix this on their end.
It isn't a Handcent problem, it only works with the default messaging app.

Thanks for the quick response. Maybe some of the talented devs here can get that to work with handcent in the future.

I use Hancent too but I DO have smart sense working, what to do is set Handcent as the defualt app but in the STOCK messaging app make sure that Notification and auto receive are ON
Voila when received text I can read on Handcent but phone still vibrates until marked as read....I know its not full fix but atleast it works

I have been using this method, too. I wonder if Tasker could mimic the effects of Smart Alert?

Google voice? How do you get GV notifications to show in notification bar?

I have everything checked but no Google voice notifications show. Any ideas?
settings
open google voice, hit menu, go to settings.
select sync and notifications
make sure text motifications and voicemail notifications are checked

Nope. I've had those checked since the start, and I don't get notifications either - only email.
It's probably a conflict with the touchpiz dialer, and should work with the ICS stock dialer.

my wife and i are both using the stock launcher with GV for text and neither of us have problems seeing a new msg in the notification bar.
didnt really mess with any settings ether aside from changing the notification sound. just worked out of the box like it has on previous phones
I was having the same problem. I realized I had checked the "Voicemail display - View and play voicemails from the phone call log" option under the main settings in the app. Unchecking this option made the notifications begin popping up for me once again.
Hope this helps you as well.

THANK YOU.
Fixed.
Still can't change the timeout before it forwards to voicemail though. Callers have to wait an agonizing 60 seconds or so before getting to VM. I had a much shorter delay on CM9

I think you have to login to Google voice from a PC to change some of the voice mail settings

Failed to make a call

When I make a call using the contacts, it opens up Skype rather than dialling. Can someone offer me the hints where is wrong. Thanks!
disable automatic dialling using skype, you may have accidently enable it by mistake.
go to settings-skype - menu and disable.

Default to Google Voice?

For some reason any text message opens in the messaging app only, any way to at least have an option to use Google Voice?

if your saying use google voice in text messaging app then you can change keyboard to google voice
if your saying for google voice to read your text messages then i dont think thats posible yet,
excuse me for misunderstanding what you wrote doesnt make much sense to me
Sorry, I should clarify... I'm trying to make Google Voice as a "messaging" option on my phone. For example, if the phone recognizes a number and gives me an option to call or text, I'd like to be able to text via Google Voice; right now only the messenger app opens.

i dont think that can be done on a z2' i think a nexus can because its got that google now direct acesss
My old Samsung could do it, the phone just recognizes a second option for messaging (similar to having multiple browsers and clicking a hyperlink). Just not sure about now. Maybe if I uninstall/install?...

Yo have to say "send text to xx" and then google voice ask you, what you want to say in the message.
I´m using it a lot and it works great

If you're up to KitKat, the option to have Google Voice as a default SMS app has been removed......GV and Hangouts are supposed to be merged at some point, eliminating the need for separate apps.
