When I make a call using the contacts, it opens up Skype rather than dialling. Can someone offer me the hints where is wrong. Thanks!
disable automatic dialling using skype, you may have accidently enable it by mistake.
go to settings-skype - menu and disable.

Hi,
I have Sipdroid installed and I have saved a sip number in one contact. I then go into the specific contact and click on send message and this opens a dialog to select what application to use (text message or sipdroid). So I checked the box to always use sipdroid. But now every normal contact that I try to send a message it immediatly opens sipdroid and I can't send a normal sms.
How do I reset the default action to allow me to choose again?
If you go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications. You can click on the name of the application there and click then under Launch by default you can click on Clear Defaults.

That did it... thanks!!
Somehow I turned on Google Voice to handle outgoing calls. Now I cannot figure out how to disable that. I only want Gvoice handling the voicemail and nothing more.
I tried searching the interwebs so this is my last report. FYI loving my new Android phone, ex-iPhone 3GS user!
Go to google voice then hit the application button then hit settings. It should be under there, just uncheck the related option.

Edge, thanks brotha!
I recently uninstalled "ViBe" from my Aria, which hijacks the vibrate function to allow for unique vibrations for specific contacts, and now my phone will not vibrate when receiving incoming SMS messages. I have reset the SMS app to always vibrate, set the phone to always vibrate under settings>sound, and have even rebooted my phone, but still have had no luck. Am I missing something?

Do you have haptic feedback enabled?
Yes haptic feedback is enables, but only incoming SMS is effected, all other vibrate functions work perfectly fine. I also downloaded an SMS app from the market and was still having the same issue, so I reinstalled ViBe and it began working again, but only through the program. I'm going to try a data wipe later, I'm thinking ViBe effected part of the ROM somehow.

Well, a full wipe and a flash (of a new rom) should fix your problem.
Before you do a full data wipe, you should try clearing only the data for the Messaging app under Settings > Applications > Manage applications > "All" > scroll down to "Messaging" > select "Force stop" and "Clear data", then reboot the phone. Then reconfigure your settings in the messaging app. Keep in mind though that this will also clear all your text message history, so you may want to back it up first if that's important to you.

Quick work around...no need for factory reset
Hi,
I am one of the developers of ViBe and although know it is not pretty, we found a short term work around until we push out our update to the app market.
Workaround: Download handcent- market.android.com/details?id=com.handcent.nextsms open it and then close it. It should solve the problem. You can delete that app after opening it if you choose to do so.
We are not affiliated with handcent, but know that they are turning on the sms vibration setting in the phone; hence, a fix for the problem.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
If you have any questions/concerns, feel free to reach out to us: [email protected]
Regards,
Paul
ViBe - Market update
We updated the market with a new version of the app that addresses the system issue you noticed. A user can just turn vibe 'off' to restore the system settings. Just make sure not to uninstall with ViBe turned on. If you do, download the app again, turn vibe off and uninstall (We really want to keep our users, but want to respect them and their phone settings).
Anybody able to set up Google Voice for voice messaging? Keep getting error messages "failed to retrieve and save current forwarding number settings"

I got it to work by setting it up online at www.google.com/voice. Just go to settings and follow the link to Activate Voicemail. Then back on the device, check off Google Voice in the settings and quickly hit the home button. That should make it work.
This worked for me. To be clear, at the point of choosing voicemail service in call settings, choose Google voice, then hit the home key, NOT yes.

I'm using the n9 lte version
Somebody please help
on a tablet you will need to have a google voice account and that its linked to hangouts
Dude... I hava done everything... For reference please check the attached screenshot of my hang out settings
Oh the whole section is missing.
On your phone, under the settings for your account does it list both your phone number and your Google voice number?
i've got the same problem
If you look at Settings > Wireless & Networks > More do you have a "Default SMS app" set? As I understand it until there is a default app set ( the Hangouts app) then in Hangouts > Settings menu will not have an SMS option (just displays your account name and "Add Google account")

For this to work, your GMAIL account needs to have GOOGLE VOICE enabled with a PHONE NUMBER.
I'm not certain, but you might also need to have HANGOUTS DIALER installed.
When you do that, a new section will appear in the settings menu (after the google account synchronizes), BELOW the "HANGOUT NOTIFICATIONS" section, called "GOOGLE VOICE - {your google voice number}". In that new section, you will find two checkboxes; "Incoming phone calls", and "Messages". Add a check beside "Messages", and you will have SMS over Google Voice.
