ADW. EX - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Anyone running this?
I have it but I really like this new TW
I'm curious as to how smooth it is but I just can't bring myself to install it because TW is so good now.

I came from ADW.EX on my Infuse. I vowed to run the SGS2 for at least a day without ADW because of the new touchwiz.
I made it 6 hours....

Switched to free adw, running well and much more capable than stock

I went about two days on the stock home, then switched to adw.

I've been ADW. EX since it was released. I've used it on every device I've had since, and I'm using it now. No other launcher trumps its functionality imo. I just can't use anything else.

It runs beautifully on the i777 at 1600MHz.

It works perfectly on a battery saving option of 1000MHz. =D

I'm running it with cognition x2 no problems. Runs smooth.

TW needs gesture settings then it could compete... I was constantly swiping up and down in it to no avail, lol. Switched back to EX after couple days

Any else using the EX version over TW noticing slight delays no present in TW? Especially opening something from the tray.

I am a bit confused about Touch Wiz. I am running rooted Galaxy s2 777 on custom kernel and unnamed rom. Where can I get touch wiz? is it an app? I am using ADW myself but not EX, where can I get a free version of ex?
How do I install downloaded apps from my PC and put then to install on my phone?
Any help would be appreciated.

There are lots of settings for adw.ex! I love that you can tweak it beyond reason! Lol
One thing I've done tho is changed desktop scrolling speeds and desktop bounce in the settings to maximize fluid page transitions.
Touchwiz feels very smooth and a contributing factor would be the speed and bounce at which the pages turn.
So now when I change the scrolling animation to the fly in or cube, its important to tweak those speeds (faster or slower) to improve the feel of the transition.

[Q] What rom runs fastest on HTC ARIA?

Im curerntly running android 2.2 with htc sense on my aria phone.
As I become more intrigued with phone performance and android, I want to know what is the fastest rom that my aria should run.
What roms has the best benchmark test on my aria?
Thanks.
For me real world performance>benchmark score
The fastest/smoothest is the CM7 nightlies for me. Sense always seemed laggy to me. Plus ads ex is incredibly smooth even with screen animations & live wallpapers.
Also this should've been posted in general
Sent from my Liberty running CM7
They all perform exceedingly well given a particular set of needs and the right combination of software. For example, if a lean build with an nth degree of customization is important to you go with CM 6.1 or 7 (I would really recommend 7 at this point for the keyboard, speed, and enhanced copy / paste text selection). I would however lose the built in adw launcher for LPP or adw ex as it is as sluggish as sense. If you value HTC customizations, flash lite, FM radio and green led alerts, go with liberated FR. If you like the extra features but hate Sense and its lackluster performance, you can replace it with LPP or ADW ex and it will run just as well as CM on the smoothness front. Truth is with the overclock function both roms scream dsspite running on such modest hardware.

Are you serious?? ADW ex is the slowest POS i've ever used. Launcher Pro FTW...
I've never understood what people saw in ADW, it feels clunky and outdated.
the latest CM7 seems smooth, fast and great on power.
I replaced the ADW with LPP (latest) . . . and love it.
As mentioned before if you want to keep the Sense feel - then use FR008 - its quite good !

I can't notice any performance difference between ADW EX and LPP. I cant say the same for the standard ADW however. I'm a LPP guy all the way though. Can't beat all the features and absurd amount of customizability.

CM is pretty bare bones on the eye candy front, downright ugly. If you like interfaces written by programmers for programmers by all means get it. I have tried it and found it marginally faster than Sense but people who describe Sense as laggy are exaggerating. What swore me off CM is that despite the fact that you can customize pretty much anything you cannot turn off the annoying crawling ants animation on the home screen wallpaper. If you can live with that and the Spartan interface it is probably the best custom ROM for any Android device

mirror.teamdouche.net, and search for Liberty ROM
And nighties means an alpha or beta build of a software, compiled from night to night with the latest fixed added. As it just automatically built, it could contain lots of bugs because it hasn't been thoughtfully tested. That said, CM7 nighties are the less buggy nighties I've seen in software so far

[Q] Performance of ICS Leaks

Maybe my Rezound is just weird, but the latest leaks seem to lag a pretty decent amount for me. I wouldn't say it's unbearable, but some apps just take longer to load and the animations are kind of choppy when compared to my Samsung Fascinate (obviously with inferior hardware) that's running ICS right now. Is this just because HTC hasn't implemented full hardware acceleration in the UI or are there some things I can try that would help?

Lol...that could be it. It's insane how much **** they can pack into a single ROM. On my Fascinate I'm used to seeing a ~110MB ROM at the absolute most and on this thing they usually exceed 500MB.
My guess is since it's not finished they probably just haven't implemented full HW acceleration but I'm hoping to get some kind of conclusive answer.
they are "leaks" for a reason.
we are basically all testing for HTC.
I wouldn't put it past them if they read these threads as we do all the work finding the bugs.
or at least the DEVs do I mean!
It's like you have a 4 cyl car and only 2 are working lol.
not too mention this is ICS with sense 3.5..
I don't know if we will get it with that, or 3.6 or 4.0, so it's all in the air.
TBH ICS isn't anything to go crazy about. I thought the same waiting for froyo with the Eris, and also about GB on the inc1..
change is great but nothing to lose sleep over.
Without Sense, ICS is awesome. With sense, it is probably slightly higher performance than GB. The UI will otherwise look similar. But the Desensed roms run really well on my rezound. After stripping out as much as possible the size of the rom can be reduced significantly.
i'm assuming the acceleration what's causing golauncher, lpp and adw ex to slow down to a crawl. 3 screens and 8 functional widgets seems to be too much for ICS outside of sense

When I flashed Scott's stock ICS rom, it lagged quite a bit just from scrolling through the screens so I'm assuming this is normal.
I'm running Scott's CleanROM 2.1 now. And I have to say I like it a lot (aside from Sense of course lol). My benchmarks are much higher because I believe ICS is built for dual-core devices? I have amazing performance. Have you tried this ROM?

But I always miss the glorious sense widgets that you cannot get any where else.
Honestly I've warmed up to the sense launcher a bit. Its basic and bare but the cool animations and awesome sense widgets make it worth using. As far as real estate, Go launcher HD had the issue too, just seems to be a honeycomb thing so whatever really. Think I'll just stick with Sense for now!

Micro stuttering when scrolling through home screens normal?

Hey guys, I just got my S3 (I9300) 2 weeks ago and I love it. Very fast. But the thing that concerns me is that sometimes when I'm scrolling through home screens in touchwiz i see micro stutters in the transitions (like semi-lag but not fully lag, hopefully you guys know what I mean).
Is this normal?
I'm a little worried..
I am on the LF2 firmware. Completely stock, haven't rooted or installed any custom ROMS.

Never noticed any stutter on the home screen scrolling I'm using stock LFB rom with speedmod kernel.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
From my experience, every Android phone I have ever owned has had some degree of micro stuttering, and it has always bugged me. It's also interesting, because some people claim not to be able to perceive any stuttering, while others do, so it seems to be a very subjective matter.
I'm very happy to say, however, that the experimental builds of Jelly Bean have finally stopped 95% of this issue for me. I'm hopeful that once Samsung releases official Jelly Bean binaries we will see the remaining 5% gone too, but either way, I believe it is already smoother than any iOS device out there, which has generally been my baseline.
Edit: Changing launchers does help, but only on the home screen and app draw.
If you are using a live wallpaper try to change it as some LW are laggy.
Also try to check the services that are running in your background through setting-application manager. Maybe you have too many background processes
And lastly wait for jellybean update as this will make the UI interface super smooth cause by project butter of Google

It's no JUST TW. There is still some stuttering, even running CM9. Yes, the amount of stuttering is reduced, but the root cause is still at the heart of Android (pre JB anyway).

Agreed, but the launcher is such a small aspect of the phone that it usually just annoyed me more, as it proved the hardware was capable, but that Android itself was slow!
Anyway, "project butter" has totally changed the experience, and will be a big draw card to iPhone users who were hesitant to switch in the past

Exactly what I was gonna say. It might look nice and all but its a poorly coded home replacement.

I have always had lag with Go Launcher. For GB you can't beat ADW EX or LauncherPro, but for ICS, Nova all the way. I've always had choppiness with Apex.

Alright I'll try nova and launcher pro. But that wouldn't explain the lag in Yeh actual system and such tho like play store and settings.

No it could. Depending on what bg services Go has running. You can't expect a 1.5GHz proc to run 100 different processes and be butter. Like I said, Go was poorly written, but hey, at least its shiny.
Damn. Wouldn't think it would make that big of a difference. Owell. I guess I will be making a switch to launcher pro. Seems to be smoother off the box. Go was always.smooth as butter on my stock rezound. Well when it was stock LOL thanks for the help guys much appreciated!

I wouldn't use LauncherPro if you're running ICS. It was written for GB and hasn't been optimized for ICS yet. The homescreen is really smooth, but the App drawer lags a lot. If you're running ICS use Nova, Trebuchet, or Apex.
Or the new adw, its been rewritten and is really sick
Dude, you always have the worse experiences. Just do yourself a favor and install the stock deoxd global rom.....no lag and battery life will amaze you on STOCK.

try with setcpu or any other program to change the cpu to max and performance
if not helping
try to run antutu see which department is low score
I tried uninstalling system tuner and it didn't make a difference, not going back to stock, cause that's the reason I rooted my phon. Apex is slo, and way too Manu settings in adw. Il try nova and the other one u said. And this Rom AMD kernel I got 8600 something benchmark antutu. Benchmarks don't mean anything but pure raw speed.

On STOCK, you can make your own mods. I am pretty sure you didn't root your phone to acquire bugs and headaches. Besides, stock Rom is the smoothest 3.6 rom I have ever ran. It also has the best battery life I have ever gotten by far...
I just don't like any bugs. Just about every rom out has their share.

If nova is giving you some lag as it was for me, install Apex launcher 1.2.5. this is the smoothest version of it i have found, the newer updates are much slower. (this is all based of my personal rezound)
im gonaa do an ruu update, then flash eaither slim rom or slim kang, or viral with funky kernel.... call it a day. if it is still slow, i give up and just leaving it.... im tired of doing all this so many times...
