I got my phone 4 months ago but because of some "borrowed" it i have not had it until now, i just sent it to get flashed on to boost mobile, its rooted and i cant update because of that. the update icon it really annoying to me, as is not being able to update.
my questions are as follows
if i un root will i lose my flash, ie will i no longer get service?
If so how can i update with out losing that?
i had a few movies i purchased as well as a game and now they wont play, can this be fixed. any way to get them off line, ie a legal sight that i can buy movies from that will play in 3d on my phone?
i know my tech. usb is that mouse thingy right? no need to dumb it down if its easier to explain, also i have time to Google
i herd i could roam and not get charged, because its on boost mobile and its all the same towers, is that true or is the person who told me that full of it. if so its not working all that well.
thanks for your time

So I was stupid and left my Sprint Hero phone in my shorts and my wife washed them, so goodbye phone. I luckily have two PPC 6800 phones that I can use in the mean time. Im definitely going to miss having an android 2.3 phone though. Any recommendations for making this phone not suck as much over the next month while I wait to see what new phone im going to get? I am not 100% what custom rom is on it now, its from June of 2008 though. Could be 6.5, but its been forever since Ive been in the windows mobile arena. My only needs are exchange support (sync email, contacts, calendar) and basic phone use. I dont even use a bluetooth. Would be useful to be able to use it as a hotspot for my android tablet, but not 100% needed as this is only temporary.
Suggestions? Thanks!

you can ask their for details on what bootloader and radio your phone should be at.
That is the only place I can find current ROMs for the titan.
If you find this useful, you can hit thanks.
I just installed Ryan Moguls 6.5 light rom, but its from last year. Seems the link you posted to a rom is still actively being used. Think that might be a better choice?
I do.
And Tink will help if you have problems. I have it on three phones now.
I am only reposting this because I know a lot of people have been talking about wanting this feature. Here is the link to the thread.

If I am "Late to the party" or you want to post the funny fail pictures, that is fine! I just felt this was worth posting. I did not know about it and I am sure others may not as well.
Basically the link talks about using a program called PDAnet Tablet edition. I was familiar with PDAnet but not a wifi version!
We need to stay way under the radar with this, guys.
I'm sure their not crazy about HTC unlocking the bootloader because of this.
Sprint is cracking down....monitoring data use and even sites visited.
Abuse here could be a big factor if Sprint throws up their hands and decides to cap data...which would S U C K.
I've had Bluetooth tether via PDAnet since my Treo 650 many years ago. Maybe I'm the only one but on all the phones I've had since then, I have ALWAYS found Bluetooth tether to be very tricky to set up, cumbersome and unreliable compared to the WiFi tether I FINALLY have on the EVO 4G. I presume the same would apply to the 3D. This is the main reason I haven't made the 4G --> 3D upgrade yet. So for me personally the Bluetooth tether option isn't that grand.
Hijack: does anyone else find it confusing that the 3D phone is newer than the 4G? I have to keep reminding myself...

It's the people who want to download blu ray movies through their phones connection and large files that bog down the network that Sprint doesn't like. You use 30GB+ a month or more and you are certainly going to have some kind of attention. I only use around 4GB and that was with root access on my previous phone. Though I didn't have 4g to tether from on my Epic. I would have much rather used my home network. Saving money is great, but it really affects others so negatively that Sprint may take action at some point if people don't start thinking more about the greater good than their must have for the newest MKV movie from btjunkie. Though I could be wrong.
True this...exactly. regardless...we're still circumventing their hotspot service. Knowing how much my AT&T friends are truly shackled by the cap...I'd consider paying sprint for tethering again!

My primary concern is tethering, speaker and signal quality.
I realize there is always a batch of folks with issues on any new phone.
But there is a very common theme on the issues listed above.
So I have a few questions regarding before I grab one.
1) Does the "Sticky" Temp Root require a PC to enable it each time. It was not clear if teh PC is only need the first time or every time. If I need to be wired to enable temp root for tethering, I might as well use wired tethering. See question #2. For the rare cases I tether I could probably live with USB wired.
2) Does the USB (wired tethering) require any root? How do you do it, I'd like to confirm with my 4G.
3) I hear a LOT of complaints about the speaker. And LOT of work arounds (that seems 50-50) that folks think it helped. I did compare the ringers in teh store on a 3D with my 4G and they sounded about the same. So I'm curious if there is a batch of defective speakers. It only needs to work 90% as good for navigation. I don't care about Music or Movies.
4) There is a good thread on reseting data which sounds promising regarding signal quality. Likely caused by many phones defaulting to CDMA only. Is it just a DATA quality issue or is there also a call quality issues.
5) Not critical, but I did compare the 3D and 4G camera too and it appears much lower quality for standard 2D.
My gut feeling is I'm crazy to want this phone. But I have the bug to have the latest even if it has a couple issues.
Also if you remove some bloatware with Temp Root. Does the Bloatware come back on reboot?
Bloatware can be removed without root. Simply delete it n it is gone.

You can remove some of the carrier specific pre-installed apps, just as well as you can remove any app from any computing device. Data may still physically reside in sectors and blocks of storage, the space is allocated for your use.
What you cannot remove (as easily) is device mfr apps. e.g. HTC Footprints.
Thanks fir clarifying, nate. Must have been wishful thinking, I guess.

The sticky temp root remains rooted for wifi hotspot action up until you reboot. At that point you will need your pc to reroot.
I don't have speaker issue.
I have noticed slight degrade in call quality. On launch day, call quality and data was terrible throughout San Marcos TX. So far it's gotten better and the data is back to normal speeds. Call quality could be a little better IMO but it's so close to normal it's a non-issue for me.
I think this thing takes better photos than the 4g. The focus and color seems much better.
OC'd to 1.8 ghz this thing is the fastest mobile experience i've ever had.

Thanks for the answers. But if I understand correctly you need to get back to a PC hardwire connection to get Temp root back if you have to reboot.
But it appears there is an APK coming that will allow Temp root without the PC.
One concern I have is, without full root, HTC could force an OTA update and take even temp root away.
I did confirm wired USB Tether works on 4G with no Root (with PDANet).

Turn off automatic update?
And pdanet and easy tether works with the EVO 3d

Not every phone has the issues you stated above.
You do need a pc to reroot after reboot but it takes like 2 minutes tops.
Why use wired tethering. The wireless tether app works fine. You can find that apk in xda. It's posted everywhere. Once you get the app and temp root, just fire up 4g and enjoy data sharing.
You can remove bloatware but to me its sometimes pointless because you never know when your phone may die out on you. When it does everything goes back to normal so that would be left to you to decide what's best. If it helps, it does free up a decent amount of internal memory.
The camera on the 3D is very good. On the 4g its was good also. 8 mega pixels made the pics look kinda grainy also making the pics IMO look HD'ish. Even though I don't see this on the 3D I still wouldn't call it a downgrade.
Developers here on xda have found a way to keep a good number of us satisfied until a more permanent method for root comes along. As stated above, I have my phone overclocked to 1.8 ghz and man I swear my phone drinks red bull without me knowing. It has wings! The good thing about it is, its all done with one click off the mouse. If you decide to grab the 3vo, here's the thread you should check out immediately.

My ''xDU4L C0R3 SH00T3Rx'' shot you down in 3D!
Hey Guys,
I just purchased a Kenwood KDC-BT952HD. Everythings Smooth With It, Except for the main reason i bought it, to pair it to my phone.
When i connect my Evo 3D to my stereo via Bluetooth, works for a bit, then cuts out. Then my phone freaks out and doesn't let me turn Bluetooth off, then back on. (Only way is to reset the phone.)
On top of that, anything being played via the stock player (which recognizes the Bluetooth connection) sounds so cheap. Pandora on the other hand sounds fine. Not sure why it sounds different between players.
Here's a link to Kenwood's list of compatible Bluetooth devices:
http://www.kenwood.com/cs/ce/bt/index.php (Select KDC-BT9; KDC-BT952HD) and (HTC; Evo 3D)
Says its compatible, but sounds like crap compared to the crisp sound it has with my iPad, which i don't want to use over my phone.
Any Help Please!
Thanks!
Edit:
Sounds crisp and clear VIA Play Music app, but I don't know what to do about the random cut outs. For some reason I feel its my device that's cutting out, as I can't turn Bluetooth on or off after it cuts out.
Anybody?

Possibly a defective unit. Take it back AFTER trying a stock rom. Ive used mine with the exact same one and had no issues yet.
I have a kenwood bt 838-u and it doesn't do anything like that. I agree with leo it might be a defective radio. Also have you checked for any firmware updates for the head unit.

Thanks, i haven't updated it, but im not sure how to. I believe i do it through the USB port? theres also no firmware available to download from Kenwood's site under that specific model.
Another option would be to try sync another phone or bluetooth device to it.

I haven't been able to except for my iPad, which worked fine with no issues. I'm going to try the stock ROM in a bit. I'll try my girls 3vo when she gets home tonight. Thanks for the feedback guys.
Anybody know how to update the firmware on the stereo?
Via My HTC Evo 3D On The Now Network From Sprint.
Starting to thinks it might be defective. Tried my iPad again, and it plays fine, then starts stuttering. This all happened without moving anything. The iPad sat in the same spot when it started, and stopped. I'm hoping there's a fix, or worst case, it's the stereo and I can replace it.
I would contact kenwood and tell them what is doing. Tell them you have tried multiple devices and have the same issue. They might have some firmware update that is not on the website or they might give you an RMA.
Contacted Kenwood, they couldn't help. No updates available also. Although, pure stock rom isn't giving me an issue. I'm going back to my rom, but going to see if using stock kernel changes anything. :/
I'm using freezes kernel.
Found the issue. My boy freezas working on a fix.
Via My HTC Evo 3D On The Now Network From Sprint.
Yes there has been a firmware update. (EVO 3D owner)
I'm a new user so I can't post urls sorry:
There's an instruction page and a download page on the kenwood usa site
FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY! Part of the update needs to be burned onto a CD and part needs to be burned onto a thumb drive.
I have the same kenwood unit. It was acting squirrly with my evo 3d then I found this update and installed it. It now works perfecctly. Controls Pandora and displays everything!
Pandora tip: Start the app from your phone first THEN go into pandora mode on the unit. It works everytime then.

Hi guys if your reading this maybe you can help me. I have an appradio3 that I to be able to cast my screen onto. Now brief background, I used to be on Verizon limited data with a rooted note2 that I direct connected via HDMI. I now have mistakingly switched to att and now i have a new note7 that doesn't have anyway to connect directly to the deck since Samsung has taken it out. Now I've since read about using a Chromecast and casting that way. That's all well and good if and only if you have a Wi-Fi hotspot on your phone which I don't and i dont want to pay for the very limited hotspot plan for my phone to do that. Now I'm not opposed to rooting my note7 which I've looked into that but I've got an sm-n930a. And using the Sprint method doesn't work well for my model. Seen a video were a guy did get his tmoblie phone to root but the process was very lengthy. Or I'm not opposed to rooting if possible the Chromecast. I've got both the newer and the older version of that. I've looking briefly through the Chromecast threads and didn't see if once rooted that you could Wi-Fi direct to the CC. Like once your setting it up it Wi-Fi directs to your phone then switches to normal Wi-Fi. Is this possible??? Or if there's any other device that could get this to work with an appradio3 I'll totally try that.

I'm guessing after the note 7 recall this issue has "solved" its self... I am curious what you did wind up doing. I have the same App radio 3. I used to mirror my S5 to the thing with a samsung hdmi adapter and had full bluetooth touch controlls. Ever since android started setting selinuix to enforced it has become an issue to emulate touch control from the app radio to the phone. Screen mirriroing alone didnt really make me all that happy since I couldnt make it do much without touching the phone. Do you by chance have any advise on this?
What phone did you go to after the Note 7?
Well unfortunately I've gone to an iPhone 7 plus. Which I'm a droid person at heart and it's been a hard switch. Mainly cause I like the ability to mod the droid over iPhone. That said though the iPhone can still hook up to the AppRadio once you've got the appropriate adapters. So right now I can mirror the phone and can watch YouTube videos on the deck. If watching a YouTube it'll allow the phone to go dark or browse for your next video. Still looking into loading videos on the iPhone than watching them on deck but haven't put to much effort into as of yet. The real bummer is that there isn't no support to mod the iPhone to use full touch screen like if you had a droid with the hdmi. I've actually posted on several iPhone forums with just the question and after 2 months have not gotten a response. I still have my note2 and could hook that stuff back up but I have no internet on it so I couldn't watch YouTube from it. And I know this is droid forum but if anybody can help with modding the AppRadio app for iPhone like they did for the droid I'd throw some funds your way, but I can't throw to much since winter time is slow work months for me.
