No there isn't any software that you "need to install" that comes with the device. It'll work out of the box. Now there is a lot of kinds apps out there that you can install, to give your device more functionality and aswell as many kinds of mods & tweaks to make winmo better.
The CD's that come with your device usaully come with software so that you can sync your device with your windows pc (like Active Sync for Win XP or Windows Mobilty Center for Vista). And maybe some kind of tethering app so you can use you devce as a modem, for example Verizon gives you an app called Verizon Access Manager.

[Q] Android on Motorola MC75

Is there an initiative to port Android to the Motorola MC75? This is an 'EDA' (motorola's own name for these devices, Enteprise Digital Assistant) and runs on, like most 'EDA's' on Win mobile 6.5
So in theory, some ports should work I guess, but there is a difference- there is a physical laserscanner on this device. Any advice on ports?
Hi there
I am also attempting to get Android onto a Motorola MC75, did you manage it if so can you point me in the direction of a suitable port?
and i think getting the laserscanner or Pico imagine engine to directly input the data like the windows mobile application scanwedge or datawedge may be a big issue unless you can rebuild that application to run on android??
hmm and now?
Not sure if any one is still interested in this - but the HTC Athena does use the same processor and it did have an Android on the Athena project that did make progress -The barcode Scanner is an "SE950" is there linux support for an SE950?

[Q] Upgrading from HTC TP2- Remote Desktop/PIM Backup/HD Station/AntiVirus ?'s

Hey XDA -
So this will be my first upgrade from using Sprint's HTC TP2 for the past year - it was a great phone and will continue to use it as a wifi router thanks to the nice ROM makers over at PPCgeeks. I am going to miss the stylus
Now my questions :
1. I've never used an android OS - is there a recommended "finger-friendly" Remote Desktop Application that will allow me to access my home pc laptop (windows xp pro)? - I am trying to launch a review course software from my mobile phone that requires Java Runtime Environment for Windows (which is installed on my laptop).
I'm a medical student trying to use my paid subscription to usmleworld.com board review questions. It's such a hassle to be always tied down to a laptop. So I am hoping I will be able to have better results on a faster phone and larger display as compared to my HTC-TP2 which was really choppy when trying to remote-desktop.
2. My contacts on my TP2 is via Windows Mobile 6.5OS and saved through "PIM Backup" - Is there a way I can transfer my contacts from this application to the Android OS?
3. I don't have an HDMI TV or HDMI ready Monitor. I have an external LCD VGA monitor. Was there anything I could connect to that with that so that I can get the HD Station to work?
* At this point, I am not sure if I am going to unlock/root anything as this is my first time using the OS. It took me many months to actually flash my TP2 and try a few ROMs but I love the features - mainly the wifi router options.
4. I've heard stories of android malware being pumped out - How can I prevent any malicious software from being installed on this phone? Is there an official market website apart from accessing the phone itself? Do you use antivirus/malware software for this device?

[q] Notes Tools App for Android (e.g. HTC Flyer apks)

Hey there!
I´m searching for a notes app, that provides me with similar tools like the ones that HTC Flyer Owner can use. I´ve purchased a Wacom Bamboo Stylus for capacative screens, and...well...it works very good, I think.
The question is: Is there a port of the HTC flyer app (or something similar) that provides android user with the possibility to make screenshots and to use this bunch of pencils, colors etc.?
Or otherwise: Which apps do you recommend, that are usable for making drawings/notes on an android device (tablet)? There are a bunch of apps for the IOS, which seem to quite practical.
Does that "written silence" mean, that there aren´t such tools available at the moment?

[Q] The tablet as a PC pen Tablet?

Hey I was wondering if their is any app out their or any way to make a tablet into a pen tablet for pc drawing but through, maybe, usb a display as i draw?
I mean the pen rec. is already built in and its more complex then the regular drawing tablets... It has a display... now just need something that will allow it to maybe remote desktop maybe?
So any ideas? just dont want to buy another thing when i can have two in one. Thank in advance.
anyone, know of anything? or if its possible.
Hmm? I don't understand much what you meant by...
But different screen has different property. Eg, the screen that HTC using can recognize pen, but if you use the pen in galaxy tab, it won't work. It is all about the screen.
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
any tablet. im waiting for the tegra3 and then going to bu one. let says i get one which i can use a pen with. Now can i use the tablet as a pencil/drawing tablet for my PC.
i mean if it can use a pen already can i somehow connect it via usb and have it display my photoshop screen and input as a pencil?
You could give iDisplay a go
http://www.shapeservices.com/en/products/details.php?product=idisplay&platform=android
That lets you use your android device as a second touchscreen monitor - you can drag windows to it and manipulate them on your android screen, so photoshop should work ok.
although that might be close it connects via proxy thing/wifi which may cause a delay on pen usage. Is their nayway to run the pen tablet software of the android tablet? or make the input of the tablet be read like the pen tablet thing if i connect it via usb?
so? any luck?
