On the boot up screen it now shows Samsung Galaxy SII
GT - I9100
Everything is running and working fine however the fact that its not a GT I9100 and its showing that really bothers me.

Minor glitch with the ! warning screen. The ! warning screen uses logo.jpg from param.lfs and not logo_att.jpg
To get rid of the ! warning you need to either use a jig or flash a stock kernel.
Once your system image is rooted, you can Odin/Heimdall a stock kernel, then flash a CWM-enabled kernel from the device. I've posted multiple times on other threads how to do this.
New to this Community just Converted from iPhone 4 and have to say I love this phone so far. Have a look around to find how to remove that from the boot screen. Thanks

OK, I have the i777 AT&T GS2 or whatever else you wanna call it
Phone is awesome, however, I find that the rooted / CM7-Galaxys2ATT leaves a little to be desired...
Things like...
How do I get Navigator app to accept speech input like it did with original ?
Almost all the driver mode on options seem to be whacked...
Maybe I did something (else) dumb??
Thanks!

I am sure I have read posts re Alien and theme not working but cant find them.
Alien works great for me except that I cant get the theme to install (launch). Actually I run the installer form CWM and finishes OK (last version of CWM). I go by the rules. Unlocked, rooted, depeleated battery and recharging 100 %, install Alien, and reboot before the install the theme, clear data/factory defaults before starting everithing, use the Wipe Installer.... what else.. what can I do.. upon installing and rebooting it goes to the HOME launcher, not even the stock Gingerblur, so I have to get rid of that pice of crap
I swithed to Alien from Ronaldo´s ROM, wich is very straightforward and based on Kenn´s and also uses Alien script installer, so I don't have the slightest idea as to what I am doing wrong, missing, or if I am through a bug,
I would appreciate some good soul to help me.
Cheers !!

meaning what you're asking for is old, no longer supported. meaning no one is maintaining it. its a gb based thing. most ppl have moved to ics/jb since its getting closer and closer to being stable. cut your losses and move on in this case means give up on it and find something else. not trying to boss you around with that statement, just saying it as it is

Hello guys, newbie here..
I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy s2 i777 model by AT&T, love it to death.. but I can't stand that home button lag!
Anyway, I have CWM and everything running great.. and I was thinking about flashing shostock.. I've been researching, but I want to make fully sure that is this 100% compatible with my phone before I flash it..only problem is that it says it's build number is UCKH6.. and mine is UCHK7.. Will this pose as a problem for me?
A ton of thanks, I just want to be careful before I do something I regret.. lol.
if the rom is in the i777 dev section, it'll work with your phone.
Shostock works with i777. UCKH7 is the version, 2.3.6 I believe. I may be wrong. Just know it works. Thread will probably close in a few mins. Flash and enjoy. And search please, tons of info pertaining to this out there.

Sweet!
I'm going to put this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353513) Shostock 1.9 on my SD card and flash it on over.
Mucho thanks for the fast answer!

Hello all! OG Evo user here, I have been given the task of rooting my boss's phone.
My first obstacle is that I see three different 'android development' sections. Galaxy S II, Galaxy S II original, and I9100S (might have got that wrong, I'm on my phone!). I see no stickies that explain this.. is it carrier specific? She has US Cellular. This leads me to my next question.
Does her carrier matter? I don't need some sort of US Cellular specific file do I? Not flashing any roms, I just want root so we can clean up her system and tether.
Last question, is clockworkmod recovery worth two craps on this phone? Cause on the OG Evo it's worthless. The only ones worth using on my phone are AmonRA and variants of it.
Thanks guys!

First thing you do is look at the sticker on the chassis of the phone under the battery & report the details back here. We don't do/tell you anything until you've done that.

Yes. All of it.
Reason being, I'm not going to be the person who tells you to do X assuming you have SGS2 variant A when in fact you have SGS2 variant B & doing X could brick the phone (I'm using X, A & B as examples; they're not literal).

If all you're shooting for is root access, try Superoneclick. Always worked for me.
You need to have ADB on the 'puter and the phone in debug mode.

Aaaaand that's why you don't flash anything that's not made specifically for your phone, unless you know it's compatible. Sorry for your loss though. Can you get into download mode? Guess it's too late now, if you already sent it back, but I'm sure you tried to Odin back to stock..

Kinda like me I still use my S3 as a backup phone for streaming music on Wi-Fi/hotspot, playing games, hooking it up to my tv, and flashing ROM's when I get an itch, and don't feel like changing my current Note setup. I really like the Galaxy Mod ROM for the S3 mainly because it has Multiwindow, which I can no longer live without!
Sent from my Inverted Beans ROM @ 240 DPI
So, you flashed a Note 2 kernel that is for an Exynos SoC to the SGS3, which is a Qualcomm SoC? I'm not sure why anyone would even think to try this in the first place, so I'm not sure why you felt the need to warn everyone. Also, this is exactly the reason VZW locks the bootloader, because people do things like this and then get warranty replacements.
As for fixing it, you should be able to, but you likely need a USB jig to force it into download mode, then a full Odin tar plus a PIT file so you can re-partition properly.
Exactly what imnuts said. People sending their phones back for warranty replacement due to mistakes THEY made themselves is exactly why verizon is locking bootloaders and why rooting voids your warranty. If people took responsibility for their own actions, the rest of us wouldn't have to pay for the consequences.
Should change the title to I bricked my phone by flashing a kernel that was not made for my phone. The kernel did not brick your phone you did by making a really bad decision.
This thread is bad and you should feel bad, too.

This may be the most ridiculous thread I've seen in a long time. But only the fact instead of paying for his mistake he thinks some how is Samsung responsibly, but how completely ridiculous he was to knowingly flash a note 2 kernel on a s3.
op why do you think there are different sub forums for phones and even carriers. You're probably one of the people who flashed an international ROM too. ...Then sent your hard bricked phone in for warranty
