Screen timeout resets to 15 sec every reboot? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Why won't it stay locked at what i set it as? For instance, 30 seconds, one minute, etc.?
cheers

If you have Screebl installed, you need to set the screen timeout there. Likely, you have an app installed that is conflicting with the default Android screen timeout setting.

Screen timeout

The screen timeout on my phone somehow always gets set back to 15 second which is terribly annoying. Anyone know why this happens?

Trying it now and it does not work.
So the lock screen doesn't work or the flaw isn't there?

Change the 'timeout lock time' to immediately.

I was wrong. Mine does it. Click lock button, wait on screen to go black, then HOLD lock button.

Yea that works. Thanks
It's a UI bug, not security flaw. The lock screen shouldn't be there (hence no unlock pattern needed) unless you let it sleep pass the timeout period, the default timeout setting out of box is 5 minutes. When you set it to 'immediately', the real lock screen showed up and worked.

Problem with "Screen Off and Lock"

I use the Screen Off and Lock app to turn off the screen without fumbling for the power button. For some reason it doesn't work properly on the S3 - it turns off the screen briefly but then the screen turns itself back on.
Does anyone know of a homescreen widget or app which will turn off the S3 screen?
I also install it, on my device its set the screen off, then it came back for a second and then off.

Yes, that's exactly what it's doing on mine now.
Unfortunately, it will only work properly if the lock screen security > none
Tested with Swype, face and pin. Obviously the screen security prevents it from staying off.

That's exactly how my settings are - the screen still switches itself on again momentarily after tapping then Screen Off and Lock app. I've now tried a couple of the other free "screen off" apps and widgets and they do exactly the same thing, so maybe there's some sort of issue with an API in the S3?

In the menu I posted, select "none", then it will screen off properly. The app (and others) obviously have issue with TW lockscreen with any setting other than "none".

Why not? Read my previous posts.
With lock set to "none", the app works properly, with any type of lock, the screen will flicker from off to lockscreen on.
This proves the app is not totally compatible with SGS3 TW lockscreen.

[Q] How to set or adjust SGS3 locksreen display time / timeout?

is there a regular option or a trick (no app) to adjust the time the S3 lockscreen keeps lit? i am on latest SGS3 stock rom 4.0.4 (no root) and the lockscreen shuts off after about 5 seconds - which is far too short for my liking.
thanks!
am i the only one having this issue? (sigh)
I think this is normal, why do you have to look your lockscreen more than 5 sec. Mine is like yours. Just pres home button after 4 sec and you will have 5 seconds more.

well, i know it's "normal" and no bug. but it annoys me and even more so that there's no option in this "super phone" that lets me adjust basic lock screen settings. i guess this is an oversight by the devs.
Try other lockscreen apps

I'm sure there is if you have a rooted device. This is just how android works, doesnt matter what company, what phone, what version of android. Been like this since the beginning.

Any alarm clock that dims soft key lights?

I run mine all night charging as my main alarm.
If your rooted then check out a dimmer app for root you can turn them off completely with root dimmer.

Try “dock clock". Put it on my wife's rezound for her to use as clock/alarm. Soft keys are off while in use. You can set it to activate automatically when plugged in after a specific time (I set for 8:00pm). That way the app automatically opens when you plug it in at night but NOT during the day. Works excellent with or without dock.

nice app, thanks
The app 'screen filter' can turn off the keyboard backlight with the caveat that you need to turn the screen off then back on after starting it.
I am going to try out dock clock. I like gentle alarm as my alarm, but no reason it needs to also be the foreground clock.
