I've asked this before in the power washed thread, when ever i'm in a gingerbread ROM from MTD to touch wiz, my CPU would sometimes lock at the highest Mhz, sometimes in goes back to normal when I change the governors, but most of the time I have to reboot, to fix the problem, when the CPU locks up I would notice the battery drain fairly quickly, does any one experience this? This doesn't happen in froyo roms Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

When you're changing your governor are you also hitting "save as boot settings". Are you using set CPU or voltage control?

I've noticed this on my phone as well. Using interactive or interactivex it keeps the cpu at max, regardless of boot settings being set. For me only using conservative, power save, or on demand will lower the cpu to a reasonable level, but then the phone becomes sluggish

On demand offers the best balance of performance and battery life. And it works properly on eh 09 kernels.
PWGB,TKSGB10-05, adren shot xv, honeycomb2.03, ec09 radio.
Ya I been Saving the settings properly. Anyways my theory might be the super undervolt i've been doing -100 and more across the board no overclock, with disabled 100 mhz, same settings I used with Froyo, with bln activated maybe cause of problems, I either use deadline or CFQ with ondemand or conservative, none of the settings would make my phone lag (its smooth ) except powersave. I'm gonna go test out more, just never got around tweaking because of work. Its just weird how gingerbread handles my undervolt compared to froyo. Isn't it suppose to handle it better? Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Scratch that, brought it to original settings as still issue persist, with every other governor it locks at 1000 mhz then when I switch it to powersave it immediately locks to 200 mhz and stays there causing major lag and vice versa, lol, then switch back to froyo and everything is good except no gingerbread, sigh. Anyone have a suggestion?

Are you running the adrenaline shot tweaks? There's a file in the init.d folder that can be creating a conflict

The kernel tweak file. That'll give you complete control over kernel settings
PWGB,TKSGB10-05, adren shot xx, honeycomb2.03, ec09 radio.
Thanks, i'm gonna try it out, its one if the biggest reasons why I stay on froyo roms.Hope it works, thanks man. You've been really helpful

Edit: I've deleted the kernel tweak folder and it was good, running smooth.. until today, locked again it tends to happen not always when its been on deep sleep for atleast more than 3 to 4 hours. So ya just deleted the whole init.d folder altogether. I'll see how it goes.
Finally solved my problem. Its a diskcache.. File on my as card. I was running cm7.1 for 4 days and everything was smooth and battery
is great -100 undervolt and more across the board until I switched back to my 32gb microsd which I've used for powerwashed and problems came back right away (CPU lock) and saw a file that's not included in my other sd card that I used for testing so I decided to delete it and wow CPU went back to normal. Well thanks for help guys or at least that tried. Especially Laureanop for suggestions

Would this cause CPU freezing/crashing
I tried undervolting even minimally and my phone crashes, regardless of the values
I'm perfectly willing to accept that I may have one of those unlucky devices that just can't handle it, however I just realized I've been mixing the too apps....could this potentially be causing CPU confusion, ultimately leading to crashes?

i would only recommend using 1 or the other.. (voltage app is best)
and -25ma across the board what do you mean?
1200
1120
1000
800
400
200
100?
your -25 on all of them?
cause if you read the threads supporting voltage app you will see to only change 5-7 profiles meaning...... dont do all of them... i keep only 4 of them under stock voltage.... as listed below (some phones cant handle the actual under volting NOT the over clocking.... and some cant do either)
1200: -25mv
1120: -25mv
1000: -25mv
800: -25mv
400: stock mv
200: stock mv
100: stock mv
i have been over clocking sense we got the kernels to do so... (i9000 kernels)
so if you need anymore help just pm me and i can help with a really good oc/uv set up or in your case just use setCPU its alot easier!
voltage app
which is the best governor for voltage app?
I had the same problem using both and thought it was my phone not liking oc with no uv but then I figured out by removing setcpu and only using voltage app that my phone was stable up to 1400. I have read many threads that state not to uv all freq's and not to use more than 5 states in the drawer. Also try to create the least voltage steps as possible and not to touch 800 cause thats where the phone us set to go to sleep and wake at which is critical. I think that set cpu and voltage asp conflict each other with scheduling, but I am not a dev so could not be sure.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I have used both. Set CPU sleep profile works beautifully paired with voltage control app.
Would I get better speed if I disabled 1ghz frequency and left 1.2ghz the default Max frequency?

Good to see enyo has found where he belongs in xda. Asking questions and learning.
This is a big improvement enyo.
as to 1.2 feeling slower, your putting a massive undervolt on it. Try backing it off a bit and see if responsiveness comes back. Also, higher clock speeds can lead to better battery in theory by completing tasks faster and allowing the CPU to govern back down to a idle state.

Thanks. Your right. Backed to -75mV on 1.2ghz and faster response came back.
Also it because really fast after switching to the Medium Leakage.
I rarely let my phone sleep, so 1.2 is the maximum I'll go for speed/battery.
But, the more you UV, you get laggy if its too low, but stable?

After testing for a half hour at that speed i fell asleep with the phone stuck at that speed. I'm typing this message with that phone now. That was done with glitch v13. The most i ever got from high clock speeds was freezes and reboots.
However, if you get stupid with live oc the story can be very different.
But to give an idea of what my phone handled back then, go to the cm7 glitch thread and check what the gpu/buss speed was at 1.7ghz. But remember that those bus/cpu speeds, and voltages were finely tuned by tk , and you probably won't be able to push that hard with live oc.

It's all luck. Chance. Fate. If tk has not burned his phone yet i would say you have a lot of catching up to do to get the mileage he has. I had mine overclocked 1.5ghz for a few months.. If you're using DSB's kernel (I am), his latest has pegasusq governor on it. It seems to turn on the 2nd core more often. I use system tuner pro and CPU Usage Monitor. CPU usage monitor allows you to put icons on the notification bar showing CPU speed AND cpu utilization for both cores. So you can see whats going on. Also system tuner allows you to 'force' the second core on. You can do this with Ondemand with good results. IMO

it hasent work with me.... every time i force all cores online, the 2nd one still just shuts off auto mtcicallly. i just gavce up on that, but yea im thinking pegasusq will be best shot. or interactice for both gaming.
I've used a variety of CPU control apps (Set CPU, No Frills, Android Tuner) and none of them really seem to govern my CPU. I can set the governor, but eventually I will watch a core shoot up past the limit under a load (switching home screens fast, pulling notification bar up and down fast, etc). This is while using eco-mode and while not using eco-mode, so that doesn't seem to be the problem.
One thing to note: I got this phone from eBay from a tester, I suppose, at least that's what the seller told me, and it has not for sale on the side, and originally came with E97000J. Obviously, that's changed since I've flashed Nocturnal. Could this be the issue? I would assume it's still the same hardware to control.

Have you done anything to modify the kernel? Tweaks that affect the kernel could cause that. Also, what app are you using to monitor CPU usage? I use Android Tuner and even though it appears to show my CPU maxing out frequencies, when checking time in state it shows that that's not what is happening.
Sent from my LG-E970
Nope, no mods or kernels. I'm using Android Tuner to look at the frequencies. I did get it to work by turning off the cores individually and governing off of eco mode. However, only using 1-2 cores at a cap of 912mhz drained my battery faster than just using eco mode. I'll do a little more playing around to see what's going on and if I can improve battery life.

That seems to have worked. I'm running one core at 918 now. The settings are still buggy when booting up, but take control of the cores shortly after. All makes sense. Thanks a lot for your help!

No problem. Glad I could help lol. I'm a stickler for battery life so I can understand how frustrating that probably was.
