Photo Frame - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Themes and Apps

Hi
I store all of my photographs on my synology NAS and would like a way of displaying them as a photo frame screensaver type app for use in a desktop dock.
All apps for photo gallery type stuff don't support local network stored photos, only online picasa, flicker, facebook, etc. but I have all my photos locally stored for the past 10+ years and they simply wouldn't fit on the galaxy tab.
The only way of viewing photos is using ES file explorer and through the synology nas app but this is only good for manual viewing.
If anyone has an app or a way of getting this to work, I'd much appreciate it.
Thanks
Mark

I have picasa on my PC so going to sync up a few albums and just use a picasa compatible gallery app.
Now is there a screensaver type app for the desktop dock?

So, i have serached on Android Market to give the OP an answer. Here are the links:
1 - Twonky Mobile (a good one)
2 - BubbleUPnP
3 - UPnPlay
4 - Eminet DLNA/UPnP Player
All of them can show video, music and pictures. And they running on the SGT10.1 3G. I hope that helps. I don't use it, because i have a three year old Samsung Picture Frame with WebServer on it.
BTW: there is an add-in for the Samsung Picture Frame on the windows home server (ahhh). And that me as unix and gentoo user. Shame on me .

Browser won't play live streaming video

I'm trying to view live streaming traffic video on a web site with my Atrix 4G, but all I'm seeing in the video window on that site is a little Lego cube with question marks on the sides. There is a note on the site that says to download Windows Media Player if you can't view the stream. On another site (CalTrans traffic conditions) when I touched on a camera icon to open a photo of that location, then touched on the link that says "go to live camera", the Atrix seemed to momentarily try to start Rockplayer, but then it returned to the browser where I now see a quick error message that it can't play that .asx content. And I also think I broke something, because before when I touched on the little red camera icons, I at least got the still photo of that location, but now the window won't even show the photos, only the "go to live camera" link. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you can only view flash streams but don't take my word for it.

yep it look like this is android limitation - no wmv plug-in, no divx plug-in etc...
Try Mobo Player from the market

Streaming media - what's the best way??

I would like to share video from my computer / sgs2 on the tab. I cannot find a way to launch allshare although the internet suggests this should be possible. Sending files via Bluetooth doesn't seem to work, either and the 2 devices have a lot of problems finding each other. What is the best way to play video stored on my phone wirelessly on the tab?

I'm using a TVersity Media Server on my desktop and Skifta on my tablet to stream music and video (using Dice Player). Works very well, at least for my 720p tv series.
I use TVersity straight to my tab's browser.
+1 for Tversity, and i use UpnPlay for the viwer
since plex is not working anymore i now use emit.... works great for me
i want to test this option also in the future:
Code:
I'm using a TVersity Media Server on my desktop and Skifta on my tablet to stream music and video (using Dice Player)
i also tried to connect via a file explorer, but could not setup a connection because i dont have/want a password on my windows 7 account(s)

Don't need one. Just share the folder with Everyone.

"Q" can someone explain how Gallery works

Have been a new Galaxy S2/Android owner for 4 days now and am slowly getting to grips with everything. One question I have is how Gallery works. I have images in picasa so I take it they are streamed from picassa should I want to view them? I also dragged a file with some images and videos onto the phone via Kies and although the videos play straight from the video app it seems they stream from the web when viewed in gallery? I'm probably making this more difficult than I need to but any explanations as to how it all works/integrates would be appreciated.

DLNA

Hello! I have a twonky server at home. When I open the sony dlna app on the tablet my server is listed and I can Browse all the content of the media server. The problem is when I try to see photos (jpg format) they are all marked with a yellow triangle with an exclamation inside, and when I click on the photo I receive a message saying "this device can't play this content". So the only media I can play are my collection of mp3 that plays without problems.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
I'm gonna answer myself in case of someone has the same issue. I think the sony dlna app has some kind of resolution/Mb limit. Most of my photos have a resolution about 5 to 12 Megapixels that can't be viewed, but some photos with a low resolution are displayed without problems.
Same here!
Also have the same problem. It seems that any pic above 1 Mb or so will not be shown. I don't always have the yellow triangle, I just have a black screen with some grey icon.
Also tried almost all other dlna apps from the market but then my problem is that no single app will recognize my Iomega NAS
Anyone any ideas?
any progress on this one? No DLNA apps in the market?
Well, I've been trying Eminent DLNA and HomeDia. Although I didn't had much time to play with them, apparently both do their job, the choice is a matter of personal taste.

Skifta works for everything and is free but a bit slow during first start up . BubbleUpnp works for videos and music but its free version is limited. For all video formats support install mx video player and the tegra codecs of it.

You can try ArkMC application https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arkudadigital.arkmc.gm, it works with pictuers as well. To check it - try Free Version at first.
Pixel Media has both client and server DLNA apps. Both are free. Work like a charm.

Streaming Video from PC

Doors anyone have a recommendation for an app to stream video from a (Windows 7) PC?

ES File Explorer works well.
In the top left hand corner you can change the Local option to LAN.
Select add new (2nd from right).
Select scan - the network address should show up. If not you will need to play around with network folders and sharing options from your windows machine.
When does show, select file you want and select option to play (I use MX player).
Enjoy
I had no idea. Thanks for the tip ... I will try it out.

I use emit and plex when I am away from my house to stream video. Emit has better quality video, but doesn't remember where you left off from. Plex has a better user interface and remembers where you left off from.

More streaming
I use a original Dream Multi Media dreambox DM8000 sat receiver with two feed inputs. My wife can watch her channel and I was watching yesterday for example a soccer match on the Nook NT, still seating in the same room. I use the MX videoplayer which is working perfect on standard resolution stations. On HD stations (which is really not needed on the Nook) I get sometimes shutdowns. Even it is possible to stream a movie from the hdd of the receiver or from the NAS.
Is there any possibility to make also records on the SDHC card on the Nook?
Emit!

I like using Qloud Media
subtitle support on it pretty good and the free version's ads can be easily blocked if you don't feel like buying it.
I setup the ftp thanks to veronica.. However, I am unable to get mxVideo player to use HW decoding on my MKV... Any ideas?
