Hey everyone, currently i have HTC desire and i'm about to buy a new phone... Which phone should i get? Galaxy S II,evo 3d or optimus 3d? The most thing i care about is the hardware, which phone is faster and of course updates... I've heard that galaxy s2 and optimus 3d are both great phones, but i need to pick the right one as i wont be buying another phone for a few months One thing i dont like about the galaxy s tho, is the 3 buttons. The standard buttons for an android phone are 4, right? dunno if that will lead to any probs in some apps? anyways, hope you guys can help me out to pick the right phone
Well the only button you're missing is search. And unless you search a lot, then it's pretty much more of nuisance than a function.
For the evo 3d/optimus, do you need 3d? Do your eyes hurt when viewing 3d? Are you willing to pay the extra buck just for 3d? Do you even want 3d videos or pictures? Those are questions you have to ask yourself.
Now obviously in terms of regular screen use to the average consumer, the galaxy s 2 comes 1st with it's top notch super amoled plus display. It also has size in it's favour also, with being extra thing to very light. CPU? Well i'm in favour of samsung's exynos being the best right now. Nothing really to back it up right now however, but it's better than tegra 2 at the very least. Also if you're a media hog, the galaxy s 2 is your device.
However you're not really going to get the best answers here due to the fact that you're asking in a sgs 2 forum, which naturally, should be populated by users who favour the sgs 2.

Hmm great answer bud, and no, I'm really not that much into 3d. I'm really considering to buy this phone when it comes out, i just hope they will care enough to update their software when a new android version is out. Another reason too buy this phone is that, here in norway we will get the Exynos version that is running at 1,2 GHz.
Put 3D, AMOLED and CPU aside, i'll still favour SGSII over an HTC/LG phone because of its superior camera and audio quality.

This is so true.
btw does anyone know how many multitouch it supports?
i remember the screen of the original SGS can handle 16 points simultaneously so i expect SGSII will be as good as that at least. any screen that can track more than 2 touches accurately is good compare to my HTC Desire lol

haha that's right, i can't stand the multitouch on my desire. But 16 points simultaneously :O thats awesome
I'm also on the HTC desire, and the memory issues have forced me to set A2SD (SLOW) in order to make the phone useable.
IMHO, the fact that the original galaxy s has a GPU that still outperforms anything out there ATM is a key indicator of the sheer power we should await with the sII's quad-core mali 400
As for the evo, the processor still relies on an A8 cortex, while the SII uses an A9... plus Super Amoled Plus is VERY key
Just putting it out there. The A9 holds no advantages over A8 that are being used in any of the phones they have been produced in (DDR3 ram isn't being used in any phones are they?). So it is irrelevant right now to say a phone is better since it has a A9 core.
I'm going for the Galaxy S 2. Amazing g camera, I love the build quality, I like the slim design, and the speed will be awesome.
They're all great phones but I don't really need aa 3D display, nor do I want one. I life in a 3D world, I don't want my movies to be in 3D, it takes away from the experience.

Can't agree more... I'm using a SE Xperia arc atm which is considered (with its "Bravia engine" label) to have one of the best non Super amoled screen from many reviewers and man... it is still a big piece of crap omg I forgot how to watch that type of screens after spending 6 month with my Galaxy S

The Desire and Nexus One were the last devices HTC put that pathetic touch screen on. The latest thing I heard HTC used was the Maxtouch, which supposedly supports "unlimited" (probably 10-16) touches.
Even so, I still would get the SGSII. It just seems amazing.

HTC launches 5 phones to beat the competition and Samsung release one phone....like Samsung Galaxy s was most selling Android Device ever...mean while HTC release a new phone every month like crazy....lol....LG has some good android phones but none can beat galaxy S series..so forget about Galaxy S2....I use galaxy S and I am telling you i cannot live without SAMOLED screen...just imagine advance version of that...
Even in this comparison between HTC sensation and SGS 2,......I think Samsung beat HTC again......Even tho I dont know how good TouchWiz 4.0 will be...But still it will be better then HTC sense...And I am hoping it will be easy to root and Custom Rommed as Current galaxy S series...Looking forward to buy this phone...

A9 features out of order processing so runs faster in bottle necks - also over clocks better

what do you mean with overclock better? does it run at lower voltage than a typical a8 then?

I'm assuming (and correct me if I'm wrong) that the chips are able to handle being overclocked better than others. THey might not generate as much heat; if they do however, they would be more stable than other.
Similar to the chip in the Inspire and G2 OC'ing to 1.5 and being stable.

well, i dont know aswell, if the chip is based on smaller nm scale then yeah that would probably make a bit more sense as it would require less voltage, but i have no information about the chip differences right now.
Just a waiting game until the device is out.
If OC'ing this device does actually occur (which it eventually would), then I wonder the affect it would have on the battery. Although, I think having Dual Core 1.2Ghz is quite sufficient at the moment.
I guess there will be diffrent profiles so you can change clock and volt.
So it takes less power on standby .
On my Noka N900 i have a widget so i can change overclock in seconds.
950mhz when surfing and when i need to save batteri i choise another profile ..
C'mon this thing is a savage beast ! I would rather think of Underclocking it ! Exynos Dual core at 1Ghz should be sufficient to do EVERYTHING you can do on an android smartphone and that includes the most demanding games and every task you can imagine, I mean just watch all the vids of those prototypes runnig buttery smooth and they're all running at 1Ghz
OMG I can't wait this is so epic
Hi guys,,,
actually I want to get an android phone specially from samsung or htc.
I want it fastest one ever available in the market and has the most important specifications like the chipest and great in development
I found the galaxy note has all specifications that I need but it is very huge !!!
Could anyone advise me android phone?
The best android phone at the moment is the Samsung Galaxy S II but if you wait a week or 2 the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will probably be a better phone. The GN has a 4.65 inch HD SAMOLED screen, 1.2 GHZ dual core processor and zero shutter lag camera
Thanks man .....
I'm wandering why is GN gets 1.2 not more...and the camera 5MP ??
I will wait for more replies from awesome guys / developers in the world.

Get what works best for you. No matter the device you get, there will be an updated device in a few moths. That is just the way the hardware is moving right now.
Camera is Not about megapixels. It is all about the quality of lens and sensor.

HTC device's are powerfull pda, and it has a lot of hardware inside. Especially, if which htc coming with android, you will be lucky.. All of the world is in your hand!!!
SGSII or HTC sensation
but i would like to wait for RAZR
There are a lot of factors involved in the question you asked. What you need to ask yourself are these questions:
What carrier do you want to go with
What can you afford
What plan will you be choosing
What will you be doing with the Device
Do you need the latest and greatest
What's more more important speed or looks
What manufactuer do you want to go with
Run through these and I'm sure it will narrow it down very quickly
Hi all guys.
i have to buy a new phone. i actually own SGS1 and i am quite happy with it.
i just want to know... wich one should i choose? i love both. maybe i like more htc for disegn and sense. but i think SGS3 is more powerfull and got more things i like for example the rgb notify led, bigger battery(and i can extract it) and MicroSD. i dun really care about cameras. so.. give me your opnion ^^
thx all for help!
wait for the gs3 to be released. then wait a bit longer to see what problems it may or may not have. read the reviews. then make your own decision. they are the same phone more or less. only dif is some software tweaks.
as for me... ill be getting the gs3 if i decide to upgrade.
The One X has the same screen, everything is almost the same: camera,RAM, android version...
But there are 2 differences:
- The GS3 has an Exynos quad-core 1.4 GHz processor when the One X has a 1.5 GHz dual/quad-core processor (depends of your location),
- You must choose between HTC Sense or Samsung TouchWiz interfaces !
Iv got the one x and gs2 choosing between the gs3 is just down to design and feel for me as ill root it as i have with ny hox and gs3 so TW doesnt nake a difference to me aha so decide on design

but isnt tegra far behind exynos?
Its not far behind. Just not quite as fast. They are both a9. Samsung is just a little bit better at designing the chips
ok =) and another question. am i wrong or the blue gs 3 is lot darker then this forum image? coz from videos on youtube its near to black
You know as good as anyone. May 29th it'll hit he stores
These are the things that set each device apart from the other in my opinion. Almost everything else is fairly similar in both devices:
GS3:
- MicroSD card
- Up to 128GB storage (64GB handset + 64GB MicroSD card... really expensive though)
- Replaceable battery
- GPS + Glonass
- Touchwiz
HTC One X:
- IPS LCD display
- Cheaper
- 32GB storage
- Tegra3 games
- Sense 4
I think people aren't really representing how much better the S3's hardware is over the One X (particularly the international version).
Advantages of the S3 over the One X (international version):
Better SoC, also quad core but the HK-MG technology means significantly battery saving Vs NVIDIAs solution
Better GPU
Better battery capacity
Battery removable
Micro SD slot with exFAT compatibility
Likely much better sound quality given Wolfson DAC (I have the One X now and it's sound is passable, not a patch on the S1 I used to own)
Better GPS with GLONASS
Much better video capture (stills quality still unknown, but GSMarena preview makes me tend to think the S3 will best the One X there)
It hardly boils down to design and TW Vs Sense (S3 loses on both counts, but since most here won't use the stock launcher regardless the second point counts for a lot less than it will for the general consumer).

Here's my opinion OP, if you want the best designed phone, you like sense, you want to spend less money then go for the one x. If you want something more reliable, better battery, memory expandable and an very smooth user experience go with the S3. That's really what it comes down to.

thx all for reply especially NZtechfreak that what i was looking for maybe if i see a gs3 in real i will like the design too and as you said i will probably change rom so i dun care of sense or tw.
Htc One X, or cheap plastic phone. Then phones are similar.

been having quality issues with mine..love the phone it nice but its going back..getting the GS3. plus i have a 32GB thats not being used..
it all depends on user..
Since you are happy with GS1, most probably you will happy will GS3 too. If you think you like HOX designed, let me assure you that is not worth sacrificing removable battery, sd card slot and overall features which GS3 is indeed better than HOX. Anyway, wait until you are able to hold the real device on your hand before deciding.

Don't choose white one x if you wear jeans, apparently.
Samsung's white plastic should be fine (booyah).
If you want a real quality flagship smartphone to experience go with SGS3.
My thoughts (not going to help you, OP - sorry, lol):
Whichever is available with AWS (so I may have to wait for a US/Can variant). OR, whenever T-Mo finally refarms their 1900 MHz band for HSPA+.
Barring that, I'm torn, too. For me, I'd buy the One X if they would have added a micro SD slot. It doesn't matter if it's the S4 or the Tegra 3 ... both seem hot, but I'm leaning towards the Tegra version only because the dev community would be larger there.
I would have liked a removable battery, but it's not as big of a deal as no micro SD.
I'd buy the Galaxy S3 if they would have put better thought to the design. TW is just "okay". Lots of features make me worry that there may be unforeseen things that can go wrong. Plus, I'm siding towards the HTC's camera app over the TW one.
I would have to pick up the SGS3 and also play with the camera app first hand to make a decision. Also, I'd like to see a real camera review between the HOX, SGS3, and the iPhone 4S.
The software/camera app may be a moot point if/when the OpenDesign feature pack for CM9 becomes a reality. HOpefully it's an addon pack so that users who don't want all that fluff can continue to use a clean CM9.
EDIT: I want to add that if the HTC EVO 4G LTE was a pentaband HSPA+ phone, I would have bought one by now. Seriously, the only thing I feel that is strongly missing the microSD.
Hey guys, I love the look of this phone, my favorite color scheme has always been red and black. But I don't want a good looking phone if its not going to perform like I want it to.
So my first concern is developer support. Since this is a very slight upgrade it is possible not many people in the development community will buy it unless it is compatible with the International One X roms? Will this be the case or not?
Second is to due with the Tegra 3. From my understanding the new S4 Pro destroys this processor. My current phone being a sensation which constantly lags I don't want to ever be subject to lag again. Is there really that much of a difference in the two processors?
Third is to due with the ram, 1gb compared to the 2gb in phones coming out now seems lackluster. What do you guys think of this, is it a huge limitation or is the 2gb of ram a fad?
Thanks guys

Would also like to know if it will be able to run the one X roms.
I dont think it would take much to change to get it to boot correctly.
But who knows until its released and people try
Im due for a upgrade, and looking at this, unless people have a better device option to upgrade to.

I would imagine there would be some modifications that would need to be made and then ported over. I say this because from what I have seen on the one x, the Jelly Bean base which is out there for the one x+ will not work properly.
I would say go for the one x+ as it is the perfected version of the one x. All of the mistakes have been rectified. I have always stuck with HTC, although I do hear good things about Samsung.

1gb ram is plenty for the moment. It will be good to go for another year or two even. Tegra is very good from personal experience, and from modifications they have made for the one x+ it seems it will be a worthy contender to be matched with!
Quad core is only really utilised when gaming. So if your a mobile gamer then this shall do the trick!

I don't understand your points:
- 1GB is enough because of non-multitasking "feature" doesn't need more RAM? (Though it's a bit better now)
- Tegra is very good from personal experience? Are you kidding? I owned Galaxy Tab 10.1 (tegra 2), Asus TF Prime and Asus TF Infinity and for me Tegra SoCs are [email protected]
Ok I look the "similar threads" but nothing really recent so.. I hope to have few answer here, even if it's not really interesting for you...
My story :
I've got a HTC Desire HD cracked screen for almost a year, I was waiting for the Nexus 6/x ..
And BAM.. phablet.. Expensive phablet (probably a good quality/price ratio but anyway)
So... I don't know what to do and I'm probably waiting for the availability (in France) to see more but until then I look for some info , and advice.
What I would like :
A nexus 6 with 5" display max and about 350$/€ max... and I will buy the nexus 9 with it, no pb.
more seriously :
1 I would like to give a try to android lollipop stock,
2 I don't know if I'm gonna root this one (my DHD was, but Except for llama titanium and androidlost I'm not sure I used it a lot)
3 I would like a 5-ish inches screen max..ish. but I'm not QUITE sure...
4 I would like a 2014/15 premium device (I mean under the hood )
Sooooo What now ?
1,2 and 3 seems to point to the Nexus 5 right ?
but I hear about battery and camera for a year now about this one, and if the camera is not so important*, the battery on my DHD is sometime a pain in the a**.
is Lollipop and Volta the magic polish for the n5 battery ?
I hear about moto X 2014 is it a "little nexus 6" ? a bit expensive but would I be able to have a stock lollipop on it ?
I heard about the Mini xperia.. is it the only brand with some good mini ? and if so, wich one, I'm not used to Sony smartphone, and.. Stock ?
I heard about chinese brand.. but AGAIN.. stock lollipop ?
But again.. Why not the N6..It's big.. It's expensive so what.. the ridiculous factor ?
The bright side is that for my business (showing diaporama and google business view) I don't really need a tablet, so the price...
what a mess...
Any help ? :/
* (I'm a photographer so I don't count on it for my pics but I'd love to "play" with a good phone-camera anyway and a good point and shoot would be nice, I'm not happy with my slow camera on my DHD)
nobody ? ^^
