I have tried multiple roms/kernels which have tun functionality baked in but am having no luck connecting to my server. My same config files work fine on my Nook Color and Hero (both running CM7). Logcat throws "Cannot allocate TUN/TAP dev dynamically" Any suggestions?

I have AT&T Atrix 1.83, rooted with gingerbreak.
I have installed the debian webtop mod installed (from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093790) and apparently working nicely for most things.
I can install and use things like rdesktop, synaptic, openssh, open office just fine.
Two issue I have come across and I am not sure what I am doing wrong as plenty of other people have posted saying that it works.
xfce4 and pidgin.
Pidgin works but spams me with unable to connect to jack server (sound issues) and dbus errors.
xfce4 when running it with "xfce4-session" gives me "unable to contact settings server. Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-zHIJQtPtx1: Connection refused" then a page full of dbus error spam and another popup error at the end saying it is unable to load a failsafe session.
I have installed it with atp-get install xfce4 also tried copying the blank debian disk image back on (essentially starting from scratch) and installing with aptitude. Same issue.
I have been doing this all from the xterm window supplied via the pengiun icon as part of the mod.
I know it works, so what am I doing wrong?
Hi all, I'm trying to get OpenVPN working on my SGS2 - connecting to a WRT54G router running DD-WRT (with OpenVPN).
This is my first Android device and I previously had the same tunnel working on my Nokia N900 before I dropped it and killed the touchscreen.
So the phone is rooted using this kernel here. I've added OpenVPN Installer, OpenVPN Settings and Busybox, copied some keys and created a config file. The settings app says that it connects fine but I don't appear to have a tunnel.
Firstly, I appreciate I may need a tun.ko module seeing as I've not added one. How do i check if I've already got one?
Many thanks in advance
Solved it with the zip from this thread.
I'd read that before but hadn't realised it was going to work for me. Got nowhere with the tun module as modprobe was showing nothing. lsmod is still showing nothing even with the tunnel up and running!
At least it works!
Hi,
Does anyone have any idea how i can get CIFS working with my OSX SMB Server? I have probably tried every option and keep getting an invalid argument.
I set up my IP as xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/Downloads and the mount point as mnt/cifs/Downloads, put in my login and pass but the thing just won't connect. Im running OSX Lion and this is driving me crazy. Is there some secret setting that I'm overlooking? Some special **** that needs to be done to get the phone to see my Mac??
Im running KingCobra v1.3 (Rogers ShooterU stock kernel w/ CIFS support).
Im hoping someone with some more experience can help me out.
Also want to point out that ES File Explorer can connect to the SMB Server and stream from it just fine. Only issue is that i would like to use CIFS to mount this drive so i can play my 3D Movies with the stock player as if they were on my phone.
Thanks.
I installed openvpn installer and settings from the market, it connects fine but doesn't seem to pass the traffic over.
I tried building a tun.ko, but found it's already built into the kernel
and I'm stuck here and don't know if there's anything could be done to get this working.
Did anyone get openvpn working on DextersJB v1.6? Does the kernel (2.6.35.14-LeeDrOiD-HC-V2.1.0) has tun build-in? I'm trying to run OpenVPN for Android, but error out on "cannot find tun device".
