Hi peeps,
Am having hard time with my evo 3d with sound quality.its too low. i tried couple of sound hack apps but no difference. Anyone have similar issue or just me lol
Yup speaker night as well not even be there. this camera sucks I wish we had the original Evo camera and speaker
It Works

Hi folks go to this thread and you can boost your audio... It is NOT an app so be careful. You're playing with the base levels of the phone. You won't have a quadrophonic blaupunkt but it will go up. There's quite a bit of other fun stuff you can do too.
Cheers!
I had a similar problem but it went away when I got a replacement phone. I can confirm that the sound quality problem is a defect. My new phone which is the 3rd one I've had so far, has very very loud speaker volume compared to the first two I had.

3rd phone?
what happened to the first two, just out of curiousity lol. HTC has to know that this is a issue. I just did that QPST business by Slayer, and I really don't think it helped.
The EVo has twice the sound that this 3d has, I gotta tell you, overall, I kind of wish I hadn't gotten this phone.
Did you try Volume +? I notice a difference when not using it in Myn's rom.
My sound has been working good..

The speakers are cool. When me and my friends go camping we always use my phone to listen to music and its pretty loud. You can always set volume to your likings by using dsp manager.
I think the speakers are terrible. I'm trying not to make this the deciding factor of whether or I should keep the EVO 3D or return it.

Well in quite places is fine , anywhere else I found my iPhone more usefull, the og EVO had a better speaker
from my shooter rocking myns ROM
They're not bad, and they're not good. They're dead smack in the middle.
My speaker either got better with time, and or with custom roms, and because it sounds much much better now than when I got the phone. Music wise it also helps if you try turning on/off audio enhancements in the music player. Still not as good as my og evo, but not as horrible as when I first tried the phone.
Compared to the Hero that I had before this the speaker sounds like **** and won't even get to half the volume that the Hero would.
My wife still has a hero so I put the same MP3 file on each phone and played them. The Hero is easily twice as loud, twice as clear.
That's pretty sad since this is considered a high end phone and HTC puts a lousy speaker on it. I downloaded PowerAmp and it does increase the music play. In terms of ringer volume, I have yet to find a ringtone that's very loud.

Yes you are right. The speakers are crap. I tried the Volume+ app and it didn't do anything. I have the Rogers EVO 3D. I don't know if Rogers won't allow certain apps to work on their phones. I tried PowerAmp again and at first it sounded good, but now it's horrible. I'm not sure what to do. I want to use the EVO when I workout. I use the external speakers when I'm listening to music.
Any other suggestions? I still have time to return it.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

if you use poweramp make sure switch equ to "phone speaker" for external sepaker and place something between you phone (speaker face down) and table so u have a little space to generate echo. It's much louder this way.
When I flashed CM7 (AOSP) all of sudden my speaker was just like the one on the OG Evo. With a touch of Dsp Manager for tweaks everything is nice and loud.

Calling Adrynalyne out is NOT usually a good idea on these kinds of matters. I'll be standing by to see you get schooled.
A notification icon clearly proves it works. I will kindly not bother with this one, because I know better and there is no point in discussing it further.
Alright, I lied.
Here is why Beats is fake on most devices: Because the audio drivers cannot be ported. Beats is not just an apk.
Beat consists of at the very least:
A notification apk.
A Beats aware music player that can switch audio profiles when detecting Beats headphones.
Drivers.
Depending on who you ask, a supporting DSP.
Can all roms run the notification apk? Yes, along with the appropriate modifications to display it.
Can they all run the Beats aware music player? Sort of.
There are are tutorials out there on how to make your music player Beats aware to work with any headphones. What they actually do: Trick the apk into thinking its connected to Beats headphones. HOWEVER: They strip out the profile switching code, and are basically just triggering the notification with no change for anything else. If you do not believe me, go diff a beats enabled music apk and one that is not.
Can drivers be ported? Not usually. Go grep drivers and see if they contain Beats code in them. I bet the Kingdom does not. The DHD does not, and we DEF. do not. The Sensation may.
So, how do I know there is more to it than just the music apk? Besides the obvious code doing nothing but triggering the notification?
I have two Thunderbolts. I "ported" Beats to Thunderbolt A, and kept Thunderbolt B stock.
First, I tested Thunderbolt A alone. I was impressed, the sound was GREAT! Not believing my sense of placebo effects, I tested it next to the Thunderbolt B. Same song, same headphones, switching back and forth.
It was EXACTLY the same.
So I did some research. Nearly every thread out there of anyone who truly spent the time investigating, found it to be placebo.

This, beats is a huge gimmick and doesn't actually do anything. I've actually found that it makes things sound worse and clips a bunch of frequencies on my touchpad...
Beats lmao
I hope noone really buys into this **** on the phones or any of the headphones either, garbage all junk.
I can't believe what people will buy today that are easily manipulated and uneducated.
I hope none of this **** finds its way near my phone.
Basically, stuff that wasn't advertised. So far I see:
1.) the hissing in the audio seems to be pretty much gone, which is awesome
2.) they added the battery meter thing into the "power" menu
3.) when synced to facebook, peoples birthdays are no longer a day earlier than they really are in the People app..they're the right date now!
------
to be tested:
1.) see if they got rid of the clicks/pops of the video camera (going to try to do a guitar video tomorrow to test) ****TESTED and they still have NOT fixed this. the audio is still god awful.
anyone else notice anything cool that wasn't advertised?
realllllllly? nobody noticed anything else? lol
Everyone else is rooted and still figuring out how to get the OTA! lol.
Seriously, if I'm not mistaken, those that are rooted and go right back to their nand, like I'm about to do, won't see the changes except the radios and hboot version.
EDIT: Restored my nand of Ineffabilis and I still see the 5 bars, I see the battery level indicator but not in the "power" menu, in the "About phone > battery" menu. I hope that means the calendar date thing is fixed too since I'm about to break down and sign up on Facebook.
lol nice nice..yeah, i'm not rooting it yet. the phone is working 100% how i want it to, and i don't feel like rooting and throwing roms on there..when i rooted the Inc, i went through a new rom like every week, and i can't keep doing that to myself lol

Ack! They still didn't fix that compression distortion in the audio track? Damn, thats like the only reason I rarely ever record video on this thing. I wish they would fix that. It makes it sound like s**t. The other day I tested the video after I bolted on a quiet muffler on my car. In the video, I can still hear that compression noise very loudly, even with a quiet exhaust sound. Dohhhhh come on htc.....

Skype wants to use earpiece for audio now rather than speaker on video calls. Not sure how to change it, but, it also means I can do a video call with my Bluetooth headset which is kind of nice. I tried this before the update and it didn't work.

I was just wondering if there is any way to forcibly increase the max volume limit on ICS? I've seen some apps in the market that claim to, but wanted to ask here first. I can't hear the phone ring if I'm in just a moderately loud environment, and my last phones (iPhone 4, Galaxy S and OG Droid) were all PLENTY loud.

I agree with the OP and would like to see this myself. I can never hear my phone if there is mild background noise. Almost never hear texts unless it is dead quite.

how about.....a dev request for just MORE steps of volume?
so like, the steps go by 5 or so
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and so on...that would make me happy with lower volumes, and would make you guys happy for louder perhaps

I actually found one that works well. Its called volume+, and its $2 on the market or free on his forum. For the rezound, because it has beats, it needs a special audio-settings.conference file, which he also has posted on his forum with instructions to add it. I turned the audio settings all the way up and it makes a considerable difference, without too much distortion. Give it a try
Just a suggestion...i make my own ring tones from mp3s in audacity and just pump up the gain. Right now it's the guitar riff from Mr jack by system of a down and it makes people around me jump even in a busy loud store when it rings, hell I could hear it at the last football game I was at.

can you not get DSP manager??? im on GB but was just wondering
I know on CM it would rock the phone on my thunderbolt
but i thought it had something to do with the kernel also because IMO had a kernel that had very low sound and then he revamped it and it came out good
this looks promising but i do not have ICS just got my rezound today but this guy said he extracted DSP from a AOSP rezound ROM

probably just set "phone speaker" to have a higher output in the EQ..or just raise the EQ so they're all even, but like 5 steps up or so
With DSP Manager, the only thing that really makes it loud is headset virtual room. But of course its only available for headphone setting. Eq dont do squat in headphone setting...no effect... But EQ works ok on speaker. Just dont go all that loud even with the EQ enabled, but no volume boost for main speaker. Need louder volume on the Rezound....period regardless what ROM you using. Im on GB still

I purchased this app a year or so ago but don't bother installing it anymore. I immediately found it didn't play well with DSP manager, both start FCing constantly if they are installed together. I couldn't see that it made much of a noticeable difference anyway Other than for headset volume and that's plenty loud enough anyway.
Where did you find the beats fix?? I just searched that site for beats fix, Rezound mods etc etc and got no result at all???

It's listed on the releases page I believe, and it's it's own separate thread, called [MOD] htc device fix or something along those lines. And you have to install that audio_settings.conf file he provides if you're on a Rezound for it to make a difference. I installed it and have the volume set to +15 and it makes it unbelievably better. Much, much louder, and I set the eq to Beats like and there's very little distortion at full volume, and notifications/ringtones are much, much louder.

Posting here only because I don't have enough posts to post under Droid DNA Development threads yet. If someone would move it there would be great thx.
My issue is with AOKP's sound in the latest build for our lovely Droid DNA. All sound files I play seem to make the bass overload in the phone and my DNA's speaker makes that sound you'd hear from the system of a 1984 Honda Civic blasting 3 6 Mafia. It's an annoying distortion that interferes with the sound quality. Also, is there a setting in AOKP that I'm overlooking?
I dropped phone recently so it COULD be hardware damage, I just wanted to see if anyone else was having this issue. Thank you and keep up the good work every1.

I noticed the bass was a little on the high side. I'll look into it for the next build. I've been balancing a certification course with work and family time so I don't have a lot of time to devote to this. Which is why builds are so infrequent.

Thank you for your prompt response.
Since the work you provide here is mostly free of charge, I don't think you need to make any explanation for a delay in ROM updates.
Also, since I finally took the time to register here I thought I'd mention that the CAPCHA image verification here is ridiculous. I'm lucky if 1 out of 10 is legible most of the time.
