Market totally crap? - Motorola Photon 4G

So my market has been abysmal recently. Most of the time downloads fail and now when I try to install something I click install and it just gets stuck on loading. Already rebooted and cleared data.
Why is this happening and is there amy way to fix?

Factory reset usually fixes it but um try finding an apk to the old market and pushing it to /system/app. Maybe thatll help

I'm going to have to do that. This sucks

clearing cache works for me but its a pita. With the amount of complaints going on you would think it'd be fixed by now. At least I can see all my apps.

I've found that uninstalling updates from the application manager fixes all of my 3.1.5 woes. It will eventually update back to current release, but until the market is updated again, this is the best fix i've found.
Also, if you have more than one GMail account on your phone, go to 'my apps' and make sure you've got your main acct. set as the market acct.

same here. I clear it all the time and the uncheck admob, just because. My market hangs all the time and sometimes will not show my apps installed.

Has this been strictly on wifi? I'm having the same symptoms in the market but I've narrowed it down to my wifi being garbage and not holding a connection for any app.

I'm still having the problem today - and on the Sprint network, not WiFi. Other apps work fine, just Market sucks.

Same issue here. Market hangs & won't update apps sometimes. Other times shows an update available but there won't be. Really annoying.

Yep, I've been having market issues since the new market. It really is a pain.

The new market blows chunks, I pushed the old one back. It works well and shows what it needs to show.

I installed the new 3.2.0 market on my Flyer (gotta have root, and the Photon not rooted(yet)). And I haven't had a single problem. It's pretty freakin' sweet. I have I'll post the link in a sec...

Same here. To fix my problem, I used titanium backup to freeze the marketupdater.apk and then uninstalled the market updates from the applications menu. Now I am on the old market and all is well. I am wondering if the new market (version 3.2) fixes all these problems??

[Q] What is going on with my Android Market?

Randomly my Android Market started acting up with regards to downloading apps. I can browse through and search apps just fine but when I click Install to start downloading an app it just hangs on 'Starting download...' on and off wifi.
I researched the problem and found remedies of starting gtalk and clearing the download manager cache, all of which were ineffective (obviously otherwise I wouldn't be posting this!). The only thing that was temporarily effective was re-flashing the stock firmware with odin. Initially I could download apps after flashing with odin but after letting the phone sit for a few minutes I could no longer download apps :-(.
On a perhaps related note I do recieve random notifications about unsuccessful downloads while I'm not even using my phone of applications that I've never even attempted to download..
Yeah I get the same issues with mine on the stock rom.i find that if I reset my wifi connection it starts to work again. Just a thought.

Ineffective for me :-(.
Anybody ?
Playing around with it a lil more if I toggle the wifi then restart the download it generally starts workimg again. Just out of curiosity are you in a poor reception area when this happens?

Had this issue on my G1 with CM6. Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications. Scroll to market, click, clear cache. Let me know if this works as well.

Nope, I either have great EDGE or HSDPA service.
Before anyone asks, all other web based apps that I can use at this point (browser mostly) work just fine.
My best guess is that it is just buggy atm, it would seem that it has a hard time deciding which method to use to download. For me at least choosing between wifi and edge/3g.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
You can uninstall the market from your manage apps/applications without any harm. Won't remove the app, but will clear all the market data stored on your phone. You just accept the tos again when you open the market and you're going. Hope this helps

New Market...zzZzzzzZzzzzz

Is it just me or does the new Android Market suck. Don't mind the addition of content but the thing is just slow now. Once it loads, trying to go to my apps or other screens brings up the "Loading..." prompt and it seems to sit there forever. Never had this problem on the old one.
Plus, sometimes it will tell me apps need to be updated, I will go click on them, and no update button. Just "Open" and "Uninstall"?? It does it opposite too. Some apps will have an update but it won't tell me. If I go look at the app it won't show that an update is available until I click on it. Then sometimes I have to update the thing twice just to get it to take.
Granted this could be an issue with Juggs update.zip file, Titanium, or something else but I'll put my money on the Market app.
I'm runninga completely stock MoPho and I get the same market "false" updates. I think the MoPho market needs a serious update. I'm almost to the point where I'll only use appbrain. Hopefully this is on their long list of things to fix!
I experience the same issues, it's the app.
Yes
..i downloaded market older version but it always update back to the current version.....suks

The same thing happens on all android phones, not just the photon.
Just go into settings and manage apps and uninstall the update. If your rooted you can delete the market updater.apk

Android Market Issues?

Ok, so my market is slow, won't load and won't download anything. It keeps freezing on the "loading" screen. Google needs to fix this Pos.. seriously
My real issue is, all of a sudden, all my pay apps are trying to make me buy them again. When I go under my apps, and select an app I already paid for.. instead of saying "install" it has the price next to it.
Anyone else?

Yea I'm using Myns for the EVO 3D.
it's doing it on other roms tho.. I figured the market is taking a dump, yet again.
Do you use a task killing app? Free more Ram and load again, or try downloading the market.apk separate from forums, they might have a slimmed one like in nightlies for wildfire, I had same problem until my market was skimmed to work faster
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
It's all good.
The main thing I'm worried about is why it's trying to make me purchase my apps all over again..
Mine tried that a few times, reboot to try to load the licenses again, works for me after new roms get installed it decides I should buy again and reboot fixes, but don't fastboot or you'll probably have the same problem.

Force stop and clear data and you're good to go.

Done that numerous times, even turned airplane mode off/on like I used to have to do when in some AOSP roms. I restarted several times as well.
I think it will download the apps now, but, I'm not buying them again... that's my main issue
Try the old market. New market is just buggy and unstable.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Yeah I've read that the new Android market 3.2 is pretty buggy, I couldn't even buy an app on there. I think market version 3.1.6 works better or just go back to the old market.
Indeed, the new market is extremely slow. Especially on 3G.
I've had more problems installing beautiful widgets after a rom flash than I can shake a fist at. Every app I've paid for on my list installs fine, but when I click install on Beautiful Widgets it just sits there, loading... All I do now is ignore it and go play angry birds or watch youtube and try again in 5 minutes, it'll work sooner or later > >
After I wrote this I made a hard backup of BW so I don't have to download it from the market anymore
ya the new market has a lot of bugs. The way I fix this problem is just to force close the market app. It usually fixes that problem. If it is still there after force close, clear data on the market app and try again. Hope that helps.

Android market no connection problem

I've got a DROID x2 rooted with eclipse 1.3 installed. Usually once a week I get to a point where the market app wont let me access anything. All it says is "no connection" this is with WiFi on and the WiFi works fine as I can browse the web and use all other internet connected apparently.
Usually uninstalling the market updates remedies this, but yesterday I opened the market app and got this same problem. After uninStalling the updates, the whole Apk, rebooting, installing different market versions, and all kinds of combinations of those things, thE market STILL WON'T WORK!!!!!
can anyone help? I'd really appreciate it!

Ok, Let's see.
Uninstalling the market app updates is not really the resolve to fix this.
What was the path you took to get on the eclipse rom? (previous build etc)
When did you first notice it do this?
You mentioned that it occured with Wifi on. Does this happen without the wifi?
I would clear the market data and cache. If that don't work I would do a factory reset. That usually fixes most issues.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Yes this error occurs with WiFi off, but at that point there really is no connection as my phone has a bad esn and I keep airplane mode on permanately.
To flash eclipse I and restored from stock 2.3.5 then I rooted using psouza's one click root and then I installed bootstrap recovery and flashed the eclipse 1.3 zip file with bootstrap

Ive had a similar situation happen where occasionally I cant download anything on my phone and on my Moms phone. I dont mess with uninstalling updates or anything. When this happens... I just clear cache, Force close and restart the phone and most of the time it fixes it for whatever reason.
I have the same problem. I know it stems from having 2 copies of my Droid X2 listed in the Android Market. I cleared cache, even reinstalled OS rooted and unrooted and it is still the same. There is another theory is that if you have Amazon App store there is a conflict with authentication of some apps they have in common. I even have App Brain and it will not do a batch install, all it does is tell me what apps are out of date and one by one install the update from the market. It had better be fixed soon. I know this is a market issue with not my or my phone's fault. My Xoom updates fine, so does my Droid X1.
And how come there are NO custom ROMS for the Droid X2?

What? Have you actually looked or are you assuming this? There are custom ROMs for the X2 and they've been around for months:
Eclipse
Liberty3
Molten
Go to the Android X2 Development Forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1175 and you'll see more ROMs in there, but the three I listed are the most popular.

I believe you can change the build prop for market to 2.3.4 instead of 2.3.5 I believe ibolski has afix in eclipse thread.
I would ask nitro, the ROM developer.
I have had problems with certain apps not being compatible but now I just back them up in titanium and restore from there.

Gmail CONSTANTLY freezing & closing!

I've had this issue since I've gotten ICS. Every time I open up Gmail it will refresh and then when I press a message it will hang and close. Its the most frustrating thing in the world! I tried reinstalling it but nothing works. I cleared the app data and still, I get the same issue. Please tell me there is a fix for this thing besides a factory reset (which I think I already tried a while ago).

I'm having the same issue in my TF201, version .15 of ICS.

Problem averted would be more correct here
I've been having the same issue for the past couple days. I have neither installed Chrome nor have I forced GPU rendering. I've tried clearing the cache and data with the same results. Next up is trying to reinstall the Gmail app.
So the latest update...
I downloaded Google Apps from the link a few messages up and tried to install just the Gmail.apk. That install failed. Not sure why.
Next, I used Titanium Backup to restore Gmail after I again cleared the data and cache. This seems to have worked and I had no FCs last night.
Hopefully this helps.

I've been having this problem for days now. I turned off force gpu and I was able to get thru like 2 emails before it crashed. I'm getting sick of it, and nothing I do can fix it.
