Stock Task Manager? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

How can I get the stock Rom's task manager and install it onto CM7? I really liked it, and it worked fine for what I was doing. I tried extracting the stock image, but I couldn't. Anyone have a link?

if you have root, you can adb shell or the adb pull command in to the rom and pull it out of /system/app

Does that mean I'll have to flash back the stock rom, and pull the .apk from there? Do you know if a nandroid backup has the .apk? Cause I have an android backup of my rooted stock rom.

Look in the cognition thread. DG posted all the apks he pulled

Sweet, I found it. http://ponack.net/designgears/CognitionX2/removed/SamsungWidget_ProgramMonitor.apk
But I tried to install using Astro, but it said Application Not Installed... Any reason for this?

its not an installable application. it needs to go into /system/apps/ and permissions set.
it probably wont even work though, as it likely relies on touchwiz framework....but i could be wrong.

reflash the rom, unless the dev has posted a zip to go back to stock.
you could just push the stock files from the ROM package back to your phone....
that way you don't have to reset all your settings, that way you don't have to restore all your settings, apps, etc.

This sounds exactly like what i want to do. Except I have no idea how to "push the stocks files" from the rom package back to my phone.
Is there a link to a step by step?

Well, there are two ways,
One way is the ADB method, with the command line...
or,
use Droid Explorer....this way its drag n drop...I personally love this program...
Either method you use you need the Android SDK..do you have it?
no. where do i get it? I've never used droid explorer either so I wouldnt know how to do the process.
Thanks
If you did a nandroid b4 flashing this theme you could just restore it and you should be good to go.

Well acording to this it looks like you don't need the Android SDK...but the Samsung USB drivers is a must....
Get the SDK here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
I would install the SDK just in case...i think its something that everybody needs..but you could try installing Droid Explorer w/o the SDK and see what happens...the instructions are on the dev pages...if you need any more help just PM me and i'll be more in depth.
EDIT:i'll tell you what, tell me what ROM and theme you're using and i'll make a flashable restore file for you...cuz the process is a lot to type

Request for some apps file

Hi guys,
I have recently make a wrong decision with my Gs2. I tried to use Titanium backup to change All Sharing and Social Hub as a User Application. And that result in these apps disappear from my phone. I tired to put the dlna.apk and social-hub.apk back to the "system/app" while nth new come back after a reboot. I think that's because i miss the odex file related to the apps. As I am using Offical Hong Kong Rom KG2, would somebody like to help me by uploading those files [dlna, social hub apk&odex]
Thanks

I got those APKs from the list you have posted.
And install them by using root explorer
My way to install is to move from sdcard to "/system/app"
I even changed the permission of the apks but still they don come back
thanks!

Try applications>manage applications>clear cache and maybe clear data for those apps if they are there.
Otherwise I'm out of ideas...

Good luck. Don't suppose you've got a full backup via CWM or you'd have reflashed it, right?

I don't think you can install system files with root explorer, you need to flash it through recovery. I was having the same problem and flashing worked for me.

You just push them to the /system/app/ folder and reboot - that's all a recovery zip would do.
Thx Guys!!!!
My finally method was reflash the official rom..... that nearlly kill me as i have to reorder the application icon which take me an hour to finish that....
I don know how to use the recovery method but hope this post would help others who face the same problems.
Btw is there any apps to backup the order of icon in Application page? Rearranging them again is damn horrible if u got tons of apps......

Make sure Nfc.apk is in /system because if for some reason it is missing it will produce those results of the settings being missing. If it is in /system pull a clean one from a stock build or elsewhere and paste into system and reboot.
Bigger problem now. My su superuse app crashed and now my phone is saying no root found. I tried to do moonshine again and it failed on me several times. It says I'm missing the binary part. And still no nfc. Any ideas? I can still boot into recovery with clockwordmod but don't have access to the r/w of phone. Again thanks to anyone that can help.

Did you set permissions to rw-r--r--
If yes then you need to start over. Use titanium backup for your apps or just full wipe then flash stock Rom and restore apps.

Nope nothing. Maybe I don't have the right apk to copy over. Any ideas where I can get one?
Okay so I copied both the apk and the oben file to my phone from a non rooted HTC DNA. Then changed the rw-rw-rw to the rw-r-r and the phone when crazy and when it rebooted and started to say that nfc crashed. I had to boot in recovery and use back up to fix. Any ideas on that one, and still not in the settings. Thanks
download the su binary https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9yd_oFytDSzQ1B6dzY4Z0JINmc/edit?usp=sharing
enter terminal or cmd
enter these commands
adb reboot recovery
adb remount
adb push to su binary to /system/xbin
then chmod file to read write and reboot root again

Can we put S3 S-voice on S4?

I have a weird question. I now have a Verizon S4, ME7 baseband, rooted. I used to have a S3. I use s-voice via Bluetooth dialing for voice dialing and texting all the time. It worked flawlessly on my S3 but sucks on the S4. It won't find some contacts, despite reading the names back to me perfectly while telling me it didn't find them.
I remember trying the S4 apk on the S3 when the S4 apk was released and finding it didn't work well for me. I reverted back to the stock S3 s voice.
My question now is, can I do the reverse? Can I put the S3 S-voice on the S4? Does anyone have the latest S3 s-voice apk? I don't have the S3 anymore (nor would I know how to get the apk off if I did).
Thanks

I use apps from the s3 and note 2 all the time, most work and for those that don't I use apktool to mod them to work. In the case of s voice I imagine the app will natively work and it sounds like samsung tts doesn't have much to do with your issue. Im not at home to test or post it but you could always download a stock gs3 rom and extract s voice from it to try.

Good point, that reminds me, in order to install s voice you will have to push the app to system and change the permissions. Hey OP if you don't know how to do this let me know, id make you a zip but I believe you're on me7 correct?

Omph, thanks for detailing the need to change the permissions. I always read about people doing that, but have never done it. A zip would be awesome, but yes, I'm on me7 - does that mean you can't make one? If nobody else makes the zip, I'll read up on changing permissions.

Unfortunately since your on me7 I cant make you a zip also you won't be able to make a nandroid back up either. This is because me7 doesn't allow you to have a custom recovery. Changing the permissions is pretty straight forward though, just make it match the other apps in the system/app folder, you'll also have to mount the system folder r/w.

Thanks for all your help. I extracted the file - called "Voicetalk" as far as I can tell. I pasted it into the system app folder using Root Explorer, changed the permissions, and nothing happened. I then realized that maybe I need to actually run the installer - tapping the file (which did indeed have the S3 S-Voice icon) gave me the option to install. I ran the installer, it showed the permissions, and then it failed to install with the only message showing: "Application not installed".
I deleted the app from the system folder.
I then tried again by first freezing the native S-Voice app. I tried installing the apk directly from the SD card and had the same result - not installed.
So, unless I am doing it incorrectly, I think the S3 S-voice will not install directly onto the S4. Any ideas as to a way to make it work?
Thanks

What you originally did was fine, just rename the original s-voice .apk to .bak then do what you originally did (move the s3 s-voice .apk to /system/app then change permissions) then reboot your phone. Also you can check to make sure the owner is root for both owner and group. I think it might have worked had you just rebooted. Alternativley you can just copy and paste the apk to your internal sd then use rom toolbox and go to app manager, tap the upper left corner (where it shows a little rubix cube android person) then go down to + APK Installer and select the s-voice apk that you copied to your internal sd card. Afterward check in app manager and make sure s-voice is a system app, if not convert it to a system app. Remeber to reboot your phone after it installs. If all else fails send me the .apk and ill figure it out and/or mod it to work.
You ROCK!!
Thank you very much for your help. The key was this line you wrote: "just rename the original s-voice .apk to .bak " I had not done that and the S3 version would not install. Once I renamed the original s-voice, I was able to install the S3 version. Rebooted, and voila. Now it recognizes, without a hitch, the names that the S4 version was unable to find. So now I'm in business!
