[Q] [POLL] New baseband or old baseband? - Optimus One, P500, V General

Title says it all. Which baseband you got? Old or new? VOTE NOW!

I think that new baseband don't gives anything new..

using stock froyo so far

I don't care the baseband in use, In the moment I only want a stable rom, 2.3 with bare essencials and made from official ROM, not from CM.
Cyanogen Team is great but i miss somethings that original ROMs have (ex: making a call with headphones and hear, divx codec from scratch...)

old baseband....

Am using new. With 2.3 upgrade. But I dont want it. I have no wifi calling and that is the most important feature for me! Is there any way to bring my O1 back to 2.2. Froyo?

new one.....
& if old then is there any way to revert back to the same??
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium

I'm using new one because I have better signal then the old one, try using ur phone on elevetor with old baseband
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App

I see no benefits in the new baseband so why spend time working on a feature that has no benefit at all.
Sent from my phone.

any baseband will do ciaox because changing baseband is so easy, not a problem with me

Old froyo baseband is the best the official has lack of functions.

I am with old baseband..bcoz the data tracker bug..is irritating me alot

New, because of better signal, no random reboots.

can someone please advise:
my dad (yes, i am not an adult, just a high school student) has no intention of getting me a data plan with internet and text messaging. just plain calling. pretty much i can go either way with the baseband right? i can still make calls as long as i apply mik's patch right? the better signal is appealing to me a lot.
sorry for the question (no one rage please ). i know that it is everywhere in the forum but i want to hear from another user rather than just the instructions

of course old baseband

yep, you are right, you can just use new baseband and apply mik's patch. I prefer also the new baseband due to better signal=better battery.

Old baseband one it works well and on top of that the only worth while ROM in the new baseband is yours open Optimus

stilll on stock froyo??the latest gingerbread ones with old baesband give upto 3x terrifying mind blowing performances!!and the roms based on new baseband dont work good with tweaks like ungaze data2sd(as far as i know) so i always prefer cm7 based old baseband roms

i have new baseband. I want to have old one, but after i bricked my phone doing old baseband stuff (i though im going to get oficial 2.2 ) i dont want to downgrade.....

regarding free X10 2.2 beta 4

i dont mean to rush the developers by thiis but more a question of curiosity
will the 2.2 froyo rom make it out of beta and into a stable rom with total funcionality?
because i already see a gingerbread rom up too lol how would a gingerbread rom pop up before the froyo was finished?
EDIT -- i get it, stupid question and i apologize if i offended anybody
It's a polite way to say it but its still rude. I have beta 4 for freex10 2.2 and its pretty stable, but it has its bugs. Camera even works with an app called vignette. Camcorder works with videocamera illusion. Its not done but I use it for everyday use without an issue. You should try it.
And I too use beta3 with vignette and. Videcam illusion and no problems at all, no reboots or weird activity or anything....better than what I was getting from 1. 6 or 2.1 that's for sure.

Although 2.3 is out, 2.2 is better than 2.1 in my opinion because of its faster speed. It's much cleaner and without a lot of junk like 2.1 has. The themes are also really cool too. I usually don't find any problems with it much unless you happen to bring something from 2.1 to 2.2 which might screw things up a little.
Since it's so easy why don't you develop a 2.2 rom then?

once again .. didint mean to rush or be rude or anything, just curious to see if 2.2 wouldnt get completed as a result of trying to perfect the newcomer 2.3
i know these devs are doing this for us, and they are doing a fantastic jjob
since i joined xda i have learned alot and done a few mods, but im still a bit skeptical about jumping into a beta rom in case of problems, my phone is something i need to work anytime no excuses.. i cant afford to be caught with a phone that doesnt call out or something
I'm sure z will finish his at some point. As will trip and the others. Just relax at this point and use what you can to speed up 2.1. Once they are final then make a jump. I run the cyanogen combo rom as a daily and haven't had too many bugs but if you need rock solid stability stick with se firmware for now.

P500 cm7 stable?

Hi guys
I'm coming to you guys because my wife finally gave me her OK to mod her p500. :-D so i'm am not new to this at all, I have a x10mini and a NEO both running on cm7.
So i just have a few questions just to see if i have understood how LG works. Just that you know this i a huge forum here and i haven't read everything because i dont have time to, so please have mercy for maybe some what noobish questions.
So i already got it rooted and custom recovery running. And did a nand backup.
So now i need to know a few things, which cm7 rom is the most stable and full featured? Since this is my wife's phone almost everything should work.
Is a custom kernel needed? Or can it go with stock.
And do you flash kernels separate with fastboot or is it part of the custom roms, i believe i saw a cm7 rom together with a kernel to be flashed with recovery. An if not which kernel would you guys suggest fitting to the cm7 rom.
I hope that that wasn't too many questions and someone would take the time to awnser them.
Thanks

I would as many others will, recommend Mik-os's Cm7 port... its what ALL the other cm mods are built off for this phone.
The latest stable 6.5.8 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
Then as far as a kernel, its up to you, the latest goldenleaf for ultimate battery life. The latest GBS, which is as i like to see it a blend from the ultimate performance of the straight franco kernel and battery life of goldenleaf (made by fserve, same person who makes goldenleaf) Both found here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227682
Or the franco kernel which has the best performance but probably not the best batt life.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049518
This is NOT to say that goldenleaf has crap performance, in fact i prefer it for its battery life and great smooth performance.... gbs and straight franco have a slight edge in synthetic benchmarks but probably not by much.
As far as flashing kernels its just like flashing the rom..... so after you have the rom flashed , reboot once completely, then reboot into recovery, flash the kernel zip just as if it was a rom, reboot out of the recovery, once to the os, reboot completely and your all good to go.
Thank you now i have almost everything i got to know.
what about baseband? as far as i know she has the old baseband. and the 6.5.8 ROM needs the new baseband right? should i do a offical FW update first to get the new baseband? or would i loose root?
i read that you cant flash basebands with recovery, only with fastboot? the fastboot toutouial looks preety complicated.
But also very interesting because you can't flash a kernel with recovery by sony only with fastboot and htc works also different.

No, not right. It uses the old baseband. Of course, you would know that if you had simply read the OP of the dev thread for that ROM, which nd4spdbh linked to.
my bad i read that above 6.6 is thew baseband but there is new kernel lol

nono, it's uses the old baseband. The newer kernel is not related to any thing about baseband. A very common misconception here by users.
camera isnt that important she had her birthday last moth and she got a digi cam from me
I'm using CM7 6.5.8 + goldenleaf more than a week. So far, everything works fine. Except - don't know about wi-fi, haven't tried it
Camera isn't that bad at all.
Most important - do all wipes needed before flashing a rom
6.5.8 has the occasional google maps battery drain bug. I just got it few days ago.charged the phone to 100% in the evening and when I woke up 46%. I use maps from time to time so uninstalling it is not an option. all other things are perfect though.

Yes GPS was turned off. This seems to happen quite frequently according to some threads here in the forum. Haven't had the problem since.

FYI, running either Fserve's GBS OR goldenleaf kernels have the camera flicker fixed... its just as good as stock original rom now.

That is a bug with cm7.... itself... not just 6.5.8, it has to do with force closing an app which is using a sensor.... either GPS or Camera, DO NOT FORCE CLOSE an app that uses either of those... as the sensor never gets turned off which causes the batt drain. simply close the app (home button, or short press back button) and turn off gps via the notifications bar.
Run CM7 6.5.8 and the latest goldenleaf, with launcher pro, its the smoothest experience out there on our phones.
Just wanted to let you know that everything went well. I had absolutely no problems. And i am very satisfied.
Thank you all very much.

New baseband need recommend :)

Recently moved to a new baseband, tell me what is the most stable, productive rom is currently for B20(new baseband)? Cyanogen now has many bugs .... Can't decide what to choose..(( Or go back to the stable Mic's build with the old baseband ...
What can you recommend me?

*sigh*
another one.
Just make a backup and test. I would choose CM, even when it has a few bugs.
I installed the new Cyanogen but it is impossible to put the frequency of 729 .... My phone crashes on the greater frequency and to a lesser games do not work as fast and phone the same way. So it is not very good for me now.
Use n2 version

CM9 and CM7 questions

I have the epic on sprint the same phone as this sorta (the first group of galaxy s phones) I have CM9 and its so far pretty good, I dont mind updating often but I have a friend and his girlfriend who has the Blaze and I want to get them botn using a custom rom mostly to get rid of the crappy bloatware thats installed by tmobile
anyways I am looking for a stable rom that I dont have to worry about updating that I can put on there phones
the Blaze I understand I will ahve to post in that section if there is one and it has 2.3 but I would like ICS for both of them so does that mean CM9?
Maybe just depends if one of the devs will support it and they own a blaze

[Q] Best ROM for Mom?

Longtime XDA flasher here. I've recently moved on to the GSIII and am going to be giving my beloved Vibrant to my 65-year-old Mom, who wants a touchscreen phone for easier dialing (LOL). She will not be using a data plan, so no need for working GPS, etc.
I'm looking for the most stable, fastest (without bloat) ROM available that will not cause me frustration when getting calls from her asking what a "force close" is!
Right now, I've got Chimera v1 on there. I was thinking of reverting back to maybe GB or even Froyo, but I really haven't kept up with the development in the past few months. So, any suggestions? Thanks!

I would definitely pick Bionix V 1.3.1 as one of the choices. That rom is amazing. I would definitely not go with ICS or JB since both are still developing and have bugs here and there. GB is kind of unstable. I would find a nice, stable Froyo ROM :good:

I agree with this ^^
I think that froyo would be your best bet,
There a quite a few stable roms to choose from in that department.
Something from Fish is always an awesome bet
bionix 1.3.1 BUT, there's a further development on it, its fishman's or fishmod Bionix 1.3.1. It is the most stable Vibrant rom, ever, imo.

Agreed.
Even though ICS/JB is much faster and newer, froyo/gb is pretty simple and easy to use, less settings to mess around with, and its more basic to use than the newer versions. I had quite a though time just changing most of the settings in JB but in froyo/gb, it was much easier.
Being a smartphone, it can tough for even older people to use, but the only thing shes probably would need it how to use the touch-buttons, how to make a call, how to unlock the screen, and your good. Goodluck!
Stick with a 2.2 rom, don't want to leave mom with a phone that won't call 911.

Cyanogenmod dev team just fixed the 911 issue. All cyanogenmod based roms after today's date should be great for everyday use. Fisherman's Mod is good too if you don't use a lot of apps, it is a Samsung based Tom and the filesystem can create tons of lag.
