Am I correct that none of the current roms (from stock to the bleeding edge) unlock the full potential of this tablet with respect to it being dual core?
Is honeycomb the only platform that actually supports this or are there versions of froyo and gingerbread that employ support for dual core processors?
What would this even mean for us? As I understand it, having multiple cores in a processor helps with multi-tasking. Both iOS and android are not true multi-tasking operating systems so would we even see a benefit?
Can a dev or someone who really knows what they're talking about straighten me out?
Newer versions will support multi-core systems

Yeah, I wasn't trying to rag on the guy.... I'm a noob myself. I really would like someone in the know to make this clear for me ( and I'm sure others).
So... How about it devs? engineers? programers? I asked the question like 24 minutes ago.... sheesh.... you guys are really overpaid and overhyped...

Good article.
Technically speaking, the Tegra's are triple core devices, not including ancillary special purpose cores for video & audio.
2x Arm9's
1x Arm7
To bad it's not the bad boy with dual ARM11's....
So, the article indicated that froyo is dual core capable. Which ROM is built on froyo? What is the stock ROM built on? How can you tell?
Thanks
All of the GTab roms listed here are either froyo or gingerbread. Froyo is 2.2.x and gingerbread is 2.3.x
Thanks. How about the stock ROM? Is that dual-core capable? If so, what constitutes the performance improvement of these ROMs over the stock install?
Sony ST21i reportedly rocks Android 4.0.3 ICS and is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset with a single-core Snapdragon CPU clocked at 800 MHz and an Adreno 200 GPU - just like the one found in the Xperia X10 mini, X8, Galaxy Ace and others.
The Sony ST21i display is a 3.2-incher LCD of HVGA (320 x 480) resolution, but lacks the BRAVIA engine. A 3 MP camera that does VGA video recording is supposed to sit on the back of the compact droid.
There's no info on the pricing and availability of the smartphone just yet.

There you have it. Same hardware as our Ace and ICS. Samsung cant lie us anymore. Our phone is good enough for ICS.
Maybe we should ask Sony to give ICS update for our phone instead Samsung.
Lol why would Sony do that but yes that is an eye opener 4 Sammy

but its just popular among masses, not the geek. regular customer wont even know and dont care what the hell is gingerbread, ics, kernel etc. they just buy what is popular, what is showed by newspaper everyday. thats why galaxy w and y is doing well here

Nobody knows why.
Why Galaxy S wont get ICS update from Samsung? That is very popular phone.
Samsung is only making up stupid excuses.
They say that hardware isn't enough for tw. That is just excuse not real fact.
Why tw is more demanding then AOKP or MIUI4 when it has less features.
I think that they don't care. That is a real reason.

Hardware is excellent but in a year you may end up in situation having a hardware that can run newer updates but you wont get official support by Samsung.

Even though it shows a bar with 600,000 as the limit, look at the other petitions here:
http://www.change.org/petitions
The most I've seen so far is about 200,000. And look at the "victories" on the right side. I remember seeing one with around 2,000 signatures. So no, I don't think we would need 600,000. What we do need is more attention on this matter
One thing though. I'm going to be honest, let's take a look at the post:
We want the OpenMax Codecs for Arm V6!
With this codecs, on the ICS ROMS for our devices, we will finally can have a decent camera on our smartphone, we will can use the Panomaric Mode, HQ on Youtube, HW acceleration mode for the videos, and much more!
For that, please sign this petition. It's important to have the BEST ROM EVER on our smartphone decently. Don't you think? SIGN!

If I were OpenMax and I saw this, I would probably disregard this. It seems too demanding and selfish. And we all know that it is a marketing strategy for companies to ease off on older hardware and concentrate only on the newer stuff. I would probably think, what would I gain by doing this? I think this should be rewritten with better, less selfish reasons why OpenMax should do this, but of course this is just my own opinion. Of course, someone can always start another petition

Simple reason: It would look very good on OpenMax. Remember, Android is open source and even for our device, we get updates to other versions before lg gives us (they've only given us gb but we have ics). There are so many developers (or ppl who claim to be) out there and giving us the necessary files would put OpenMax in a good light.

There has been no official word on the dual core version the only reason there is some speculation was because something a Samsung executive said when he should not have and a device profile for Verizon.
Now don't get me wrong here I still thing the US LTE versions are going to have the S4 chipset but I am going to keep my hopes up and pray to god we don't get an HTC One X clone(Hardware Wise)

The S4 has a built-in LTE modem, Samsung has not yet made their own SoC with a LTE modem in it.
Basically they would have to make room for a LTE chip, and instead of doing that they simply opt for the S4 with the built-in LTE modem.

The change is processors. The US versions have a dual core processor so they can support LTE. Any other version with LTE will also only have a dual core processor.

Technically it should be because all Windows OS'es come with a big pack of drivers so does WP and the binaries seem to be compiled for ARM generic.
And the WP emulator runs on ARMv6 :victory:
However currently porting it is dangerous as Microsoft sues people doing it, perhaps when Microsoft releases WP8 if they will no longer care about WP7 then only it can be ported
but working audio and other sensors is still next to impossible as not everything is identical between those devices.. still good to see some kind of hacking

Actually if i remember correctly Microsoft provides Development kits to manufacturers and Developer phone owners which include all supported chipset drivers, so someone might have gotten his/hers hands on them
So all in all a port should be possible.
But to be honest we shouldnt expect this or

That's definitely not a Blade.
Think that's just a hardware swap. It's impossible to port WP7 to a 600MHz armv6 device (WP7 requires a 1GHz armv7 Snapdragon chip).
WP7 also needs a DirectX9 rendering-capable GPU, which the Blade does not have.
