[Q] Phone is always hot on any rom. - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have been reading a lot of posts by people but did not find an answer yet to problem I am having with Atrix.
I've had like 5 Atrix phones and never had this issue before so I am thinking it might be the phone but need input/opinion on what you guys think.
I have tried CM7, Ronaldo R9, Stock GB, Aura, Alien 4.
I bought this phone used and it was not even rooted.
I unlocked it, rooted it and started messing with it. It was working fine but then I had to mess with it.
No matter what rom I run, it goes from 100% to 40% in around 4 hours without any use.
I have 2 hotmail, 1 exchange, 2 gmail accounts and 1 facebook.
Any suggestions?
I am on stock kernel right now. I used faux kernel and it got even worse.
Any idea on what I might be doing wrong? I am about to sbf 2.2 Froyo to see if that fixes the issue.
Thanks in advance for help guys.

DONT SBF TO FROYO 2.2 YOU WILL HARD BRICK YOUR PHONE! Other then that what's your setCPU at?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium

I never used SetCPU, I don't even have custom Kernel. I am using stock Kernel.
Baseband Version:
N_01.77.30P
Kernel:
[email protected] # 2
I usually freeze using TiBu, but this time I uninstalled everything from Live wallpaper picker to DLNA to Quick office, I barely have anything on the phone and it's still so hot. Draining battery like crazy. Did every calibration mentioned on here using CWM or Battery calibrator.
I was going to sbf the file with pudding and preinstall root built in. Thanks for the heads up though. I know that I can't go back to stock stock so was going to flash pudding 2.2.

You will only HARD BRICK your phone IF you have done the Official OTA (Over The Air) to GingerBread. If you have never done the official OTA and you were on 1.8.3 when you unlocked and you flashed GB (Kenneth Penn or other custom GB ROM's) then you can SBF backwards but it is not recommended.. I just want to clear that up for you.
Now, there is a battery issue with faux kernel (stock or OC) so make sure you are using the 0.2.0 version of his kernels.
If you want to do a sure test and find out if its the phone or the physical battery that is bad then flash Kenth Penn's Alien ROM with the gingerbread kernel and use the free setCPU here (free for XDA members). Yes you can still use setCPU even if you are on stock kernel because you can UnderClock the CPU when you turn the screen off or set it to were if you are under a certain battery percentage it will automatically uncerclock itself.

Thank you for the heads up but I know you can't do Froyo or GB without pudding if you have unlocked the phone, which I have unlocked.
So, are you saying that one of the ROMs overclocked the CPU and now it's stuck or something? I never messed with any SetCPU. All I did was change roms.
Do I need to do something special after I install EXT4 ROM with EXT4 formatting?
Do I need to format the partitions using something else to go back to stock partitioning? I just want my phone to go back to normal where it would last a whole day of playing without charge

Actually you can SBF without pudding as long as you never flashed the OTA GB. Not only have they stated that in the threads but I have done it. The OTA will give you a Hard Brick.
No, I'm not saying that the ROM's overclocked the CPU... I was saying it's good to UnderClock it when your not using it.. (saves battery life)
Also you HAVE to wipe the battery stats after each ROM flash or you will have a incorrect battery percentage display

I see what you are saying.
I know you have to recalibrate battery after change of rom, what about if you sbf?
To test it out, I installed the 2.2 using sbf and charged it to 100%.
I have been on battery for barely 3 hours and I am at 60% life.
Without using anything, battery is at 95F and phone feels pretty hot.
I have had 4 Atrix before and never had any issues like this. Seems like something is always running in bg. I use my motoblur account so I have same number of emails and stuff on every rom and phone?

Did you just get the phone? If it has been overheating like this since you got it, it's very likely there's a problem with the unit itself. You may need to get it replaced.

I have the same problem here, I monitor my phone temp. using setCPU and to monitor the processor speeds on CM7 and my normal temp is about 37C or 99F and thats when the phone is pretty cool, however i have seen it get up to around 40-42C, not really sure what to do as i havent found a solution and it gets so hot now i can feel it through my case too.

I kept playing with this last night and no matter what ROM I use with Motoblur account and 3 push email accounts, it kept getting hot.
I am wondering if it's Motoblur getting suck on something since Phone Idle, main and phone is using most of the battery when you look at %age.
Or it's my 3 push email accounts, 2 gmail and 1 facebook that are syncing like crazy and killing the phone. I did a format of system, cache, data and all from recovery and installed cm7 for now to avoid blur. I am thinking of putting in all my push accounts in CM7 and see if it gets hot too. If it doesn't then it's motoblur or if it does get hot, it might be too many accounts syncing tons and tons of time?

So, I went back to Ronaldo's R9 Rom and been keeping an eye on battery.
I skipped blur setup and just put my gmail account on there that is associated with my contacts and all.
1h 21m 2s on battery, 92% battery life left.
Display 45%
Phone Idle 32%
Cell standby 8%
com.android.inputmethod.latin 4%
Messaging 3%
Voice Calls 2%
Android OS 2%
com.android.phone 2%
Wifi 2% (turned this off like an hour ago)
Does that seem pretty normal to burn 8% battery in an hour?
If that is good then I will start adding my other emails. I think I have narrowed down the issue to blur having push emails or maybe just blur. Will keep this thread updated.
Thank you.

Honestly, my phone also gets QUITE hot. I guess it's just fail ventilation.

mine gets up to 52`C

Is your phone revving to 9k?

Thanks for the laugh dude. I actually ended up getting rid of Atrix.
I actually have another Atrix with lapdock that I am selling. I think it's time to move on from Atrix

^^I think you've had more Atrix's then the Moto developers themselves. Your an Atrix lover!

Try disabling the exchange account for a day and see if if it helps. Some users has earlier reported that exchange was creating problems. If it's not then use watchdog to idnetify the mischievous app which is eating a lot of CPU hence the heat.
CM7 has got rid of all heating issues so there must be something else than the OS itself.

Your Display has consumed 45% so the behavior is more or less normal. The larger the screen on time larger is the drain.

Hmmm unlikely but still u wont loose anything by trying. That overheating thing seems like a high overclock thingy cause it has happened to me before with a different phone

Excessive battery usage post Gingerbreak

Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone can give me a hand on this. After installing / using gingerbreak I am getting rapid drain on the battery. The battery manage says its "Media" (?program) thats doing it. Any ideas to a solution?
Posting in that thread would be a starting point. This thread will be moved or deleted.

Thanks for using your energy on a useful answer.
Nevermind, trying out ginger blur instead.

Try going fresh and gingerbreak it, i have no issues so far with 1.8.3 , look for the offending service in titanium or under settings > applications > services
Use the guide to root 1.4.2. Works perfectly and just makes sure the exploit is used and nothing else but SU is copied over.
Safest way to do something is to do it yourself. No apk and you get to see what you install.

I was actually going to post the opposite. Went to a BBQ yesterday around 4 with a full charge, on HSPA the whole time, ran a bunch of speed tests periodically, checking NFL draft updates, checking for gingerblur 3.0 a bunch of times, and other useless tomfoolery. Left at 1:30 am, got home with 70% charge. Not bad, eh?

thats not normal time for a reflash
Try charging to full and then wiping the battery stats. Probably won't help but it's worth a shot. Flashing a lot can confuse the battery and wiping the stats after a bunch of flashes can help regain some of the batteries lost performance due to this confusion.
Good point. I forgot to mention I had wiped the battery stats while updating to 1.8.3.
Calibrate the battery? Drain it completely once or twice and recharge to 100%. That should calibrate your battery but then try using Battery Calibration.

been there done that. gonna return the phone to best buy for a new as the phone is exactly a week and a day old. and the screen lag is already killing me. i belive that for some reason rooting it it causes the screen lag. i factory rested the phone and rooted and lag still there.
You done been motoblur'd. Strip away that crap.
i actually do like motoblur. when i first got it i went the whole day from 7 am to 10 pm and still had 20 % left.
They don't call it bloatware for nothing. Your choice
the bloatware that you call it can actually be uninstalled. att navigator code scanner family map yada yada yada can be uninstalled.
what you all dont really get, is that motoblur is for basically a teenager. someoen who is constantly witht hier facebook updates emails blah blah.

I agree I was gonna post the same thing. After 1.83 and gingerbreak i get about twice as battery. I am using the same apps as I was using before. I never got over 24 hours on Atrix before but now I get 24 hours easily with pretty heavy usage. I play with is most of the time. Checking XDA every 15 20 minutes etc. This 1.83 has definately done some battery improvements to my phone. I do not mind the stock firmware now. I just have two mods, rooted and a pretty decent Blue theme.

I do get it. I just don't like the interface. I use launcher pro plus scrolling widgets for facebook, gmail, calendar, bookmarks, etc, way more to my liking.
i think i have tried the best of both worlds here. HTC Sense and MotoBlur.
i really dont lean towards one or the other as the both apeal to me. btu what i have learned it is HTC Sence is more media-centric while MotoBlur is for the more "socially connected" person. being my self a teen. i enjoy both.
Running stock with bloat (havent done GingerBlur until 3.0 comes out) Gingerbreak, Systemrecovery, nothing else installed except root explorer, advanced system tools, DEBAndroid, attempted Full Ubuntu (bombed as expected.)
My install was flash 1.26, OTA upgrade of 1.57, flashed 1.83.
Anyways, with little use, still at 100% unplugged for 10 hours.

[Q] Another battery thread whith a diffrent approach.

Im starting this thread because of every battery thread I've read people NEVER seem to solve the problem unless they replace their ATRIX. Now a few questions. This is directed to any ATRIX owner in an attempt to find a solid solution.
1. Did your ATRIX only start having battery issues after upgrading to gingerbread?ATRIX or have you had issues beginning from stock froyo?
2. Has any solution suggested by anyone ever worked for you?
3. Does your ATRIX get hot and battery drains extremely fast?
4. Are you frequently connected to 4g H+?
If you answer no. To #2 and yes to #3 I suspect it may be a hardware problem...
on the battery this is what I see and find strange and this is the battery that came with the phone.
1880mah
1880/1930
Mah(min/typ)
7.0/7.1
Wh(min/typ)
Idk where to find production number so I guessed its this [GB/T 18287]
On the phone idk the specific so I took a guess too XD [SKU:65230]
if someone knows the two above please correct me but anyways I posted those because we can compare for those that have a problem and maybe pinpoint it to be a factory defect. Again I am doing this because this battery AND heating issue is aggravating and after 2 months I can't stand it anymore no fixes ever worked so help me and those with the issue out by providing information thanks.
Hello,
1-Yes
2-Not really, I have increase the battery life but not good as the stock Froyo.
3-Yes, but as I remember it get hot too on Froyo. Less or more... I don't know.
4-Always
I have buy an Andida 2200mAh battery and use it since 3 week, I will return to the stock battery tomorrow to check if there is a difference.
1- Nope, my battery has always lasted for around 8-10 hours everyday. (I play games and browse the internet everyday).
2-Never had any battery problem so....
3-Not at all. My Atrix has always been cool.
4. for about 4-5 hours a day (usually i am on wifi but wifi or not.....i have the same battery life).
It could be a ROM problem that you are having, maybe doing a clean install of a ROM could help you(do a complete wipe before installing the ROM). Are you using faux 123's kernel? It under-clocks your Atrix to as low as 216 GHz when your handset is idle but overclocks it to 1.1 GHz when it use. You could download setcpu to under-clock it for better battery saving and this will make your phone less hot.
You can and should also download a battery app from the market and see what your battery temp is like compared to other users. If it's a hardware issue indeed, you better return your Atrix and get a new one asap as it could cause you harm in the future.

That's just it with everything stock gingerbread my friends ATRIX doesn't heat up as hot and eat through batteries like a fat guy an a dozen doughnuts in one sitting. We both had stock when I tried this his phone easily outlasts mine both on 4g and a factory reset I tested this when he asked me to root his phone I was gunna kill its bat and charge it to root and install unlock etc. And to my surprise holy sh#t his battery life WAY outlasted mine, AND HIS DEVICE IS ONE.MONTH OLDER i've had this ATRIX for 2 months now so its none of whatever everyone is saying about battery caliBS its a firm suspicion on a hardware flaw, the sooner people can find it the sooner Motorola can replace defective handsets, ridiculous, two stock gingerbread motorolas with 100% stock and mine only lasts about had as
long as my friends own who gets battery results everyone brags about.
i own 3 atrixes ive had an atrix since launch day had its issues at first but one thing that was never a problem was the battery it was always amazing lasted 2 days sometimes well since the offical ota uPdate i updated only one that way its my main phone and right away i noticed the heat coming from the metal clip holding the sd card then next i noticed the batt life was losing 10 every 20 mins or so. since i have rooted it just so i could try n use tb to freeze all the bloatware and still nothing then i tryed just bout every other method on this forum so i didnt wanna lose my warrenty on that 1 so i didnt unlock it so i took my other atrix with a slightly cracked screen it was running on 4.1.26 so i rooted it unlocked it and charged too 100 then flashed to alien v3 so wen it was done it upgraded to gb and right away i noticed the heat from it just like my other one and battery life was losing 10% every 20 mins just like my other one i have also tryed everything on this forum im lost now dnt no wat to do somebody please help also as upset i am about this happing im very relieved to c im not the only person with this issue

Fascinate CM7 standby battery drain

So i have a verizon fascinate and am currently running cm7. (first tried the stable release but niw a nightly). Im eeally liking cm, but since i got it my battery life is garbage. Basically the drain seems to come from either the android os sercice or cell standby. Whenever i leave my phone inactive for a while, when i wake it up the battery has dropped a lot and tge phone is very warm. I have been modding this phone for a while, but im no android programmer. Purely based on the forum searchi. G ive done on the issue, it seemsblike cm7 has an issue with my modem or radio.
Extra info: my 3g/2g signals seem fine (always 0% time without signal). Wifi connectivity seems fine. Im also running glitch's kernal altho the problem has persisted with and without it (i did do a kernel cleaning first). I used the "go from anything to jb vanilla" guide cuz i was having issues switching to mtd at first (sry dont have a link rite now but it was on xda) . I get occassional force closes, but not really a problem. When i did a titanium back up, the very first time i flashed cm7 i Did restore system settings, but i did not do that every time since then. Ive done a fresh flash of the stable mod around 3 times trying different stuff, but this one is niggtly as i said, and each has had this issue.
If looked around a lot, and wgile this seems common, no one has posted a consistent solution or explanation to the problem, so thats what im looking for.

I have had the standby battery drain on every CM7 version and Kernel tried so far including 7.1 stable,7.0 nightlies,JT's Vanilla, and PoolParty. It's even worse if I shut phone down and don't plug in. It will drop 50 to 75% overnight with phone not on?
Has done it with undervolting, overclocking, and voltage control not even installed. This is first time I have seen others having similiar issues.
I think this is a known issue for all MTD roms on the fascinate, if I'm not mistaken.

I lose only 5% to 10% overnight on CM7 never really notice how much on MIUI cause I never ran it long enough. I guess every phone would behave differently for MTD's or maybe you have an app or mulitple ones that refreshes frequently(Fancy Widget comes to mind).
Well that really sucks, because i do enjoy cm7. But this also means if i go back to a touchwiz configuration like stock dl09 i shouldnt have these issues right?
But before that, has anyone who had these issues tried anything (ie kernels or maybe standby mode power conservation setting, etc... ) that have at least noticeably improved your battery life? Right now mines pretty unbearable (im talking 8hrs while on but totally inactive), but if i can get it up a little i might b able to manage.

I am also experiencing poor battery life. I just flashed 7.1.0 yesterday and absolutely love it. Was using com rom for a few months, but a friend said to try out cwm 7. I used to get about 6 - 8 hours of Pandora while at work and today I only got about 4 before my phone shut off. I'm going to try completely killing battery and charge with phone off tonight an see if it's any better tomorrow.
Any other suggestions? I'm not a noob when it comes to custom roms and flashing (I used to flash the **** out of my G1) but there may have been something I over looked when switching to cwm7. I wiped everything a few times before flashing including battery stats and dalvic.
My battery life is actually really good. Running latest nighty, undervolted -75 across the board, stock kernel, and no overclocking.
Just can't figure why I lose 50-75% of battery overnight when phone is shut down and not charging?
I have the same issue with CM7.1, turning phone of at 80% battery at night to find it at 25% at morning
Is there knows solution?

You have an app that is driving data to your phone, causing the wifi chip to wake the phone all the time. Apparently a system app - a lot of people have been having this issue with KK6.
Beyond this - sorry, but if you are not rooted you will have to live with it. Identifying what is triggering the wifi interrupts requires obtaining a Wireshark capture, this is not possible without root. Even if a common root cause is found for what's going on with KK6, it's most likely in /system itself so can't be fixed without a custom ROM or at least rooting.
If you're not willing to root, why are you on a firmware developer forum? Have AT&T help you instead if you're on 100% bone stock unrooted.
Well if it's an APP causing it, then many many people must be running the same app cause all of the various forums out there are a lot of people with the battery drain after updating to 2.3.6. Even a lot of my customers have mentioned it also.
I doubt it is an APP doing it. I'd bet it is just some bad coding on Samsung's part. They are probably getting a lot of complaints and are most likely already looking into it.
As far as the why he is here if he doesn't root. Well I don't root as well and have no desire to being as stock works just great. (other than the battery drain)
This is a great place to hang out and keep up on other people using various phones. He posted in the General section, not the Developer's section for this phone. So I think his/her question was valid.
If he was asking the question in the Developers section I would understand your concern. But I don't feel you have to be into cooked ROMS to value this forum.
That's like saying to the people who like the "Fast and the Furious" moves to stop watching them because they have a Chevy and not a pimped up Civic.

If you don't want to root, you're probably better off in the AT&T support forums, because honestly, it isn't worth our time to try and help someone who doesn't want to root fix a problem that is almost sure to require root access to fix, or in this case, even diagnose.
I do believe many are having this issue after upgrading to kk6 (with same apps installed). I had the issue as well.
May be a system app, or something in /system causing an app to become unhappy.
Either way, it's not going to get fixed without Shark for Root captures from those encountering problems.

I don't think it anything to do with KK6. As Entropy said its an app causing a wake lock. I'm run Ingram KK6 without any issues with battery.

Having this issue as well. Phone is stock. Ive been here since the captivate but I hang around with the sgs2. Never needed to root this phone as it works perfectly for me. But I did the update this morning at 100% charge and 9 hours later with no use it's down to 9%. I could go all day with moderate use and be at 30-40% by the time I go to bed.
I read on a rather long on a google forum that many had this issue after upgrading via ota but who knows. I found that wiping dalvik and flashing unnamed update again I have much better batter life. I did read in update that he reverted to an earlier kernel signature to fix the battery drain.
Im going back to 2.3.4 via this method.
http://galaxys2root.com/att-galaxy-s2/how-to-unroot-att-galaxy-s2-sgh-i777/
Losing 10% of my battery at idle /hour is ridiculous lol. Android os was at 87+% within 3 hours of restart.
Edit:
Okay so I did this method. Took about 5 mins after I got everything downloaded. I did not do the factory reset since it's not needed. Phones back to 2.3.4 and nothing was reset. Have all my sms's contacts, aps, wallpapers etc. Battery seems to be back to normal.
I recommend everyone who did that 2.3.6 update to revert back. To many problems with it.
I never entered download mode on this phone before. Just a tip: Keep holding all the buttons till the phone seems like it shuts off and keep holding them till you get into download mode. Do not let go or else it just powers off.
For the purposes of attempting to fix the problem, I really would like some people to take some Shark for Root captures as described in my Known Battery Drainers thread.
With that data, the root cause of the problem might be identifiable.
So far I've only seen one capture, I really need more unless I can reproduce the problem myself.

I'm also having battery issues but would like to try to fix it before giving up.
I've searched a bunch but can't find that thread. Not at home to try it on my PC so if you'll link it here, I'll do what I can to get some captures for you.

I read a possible solution on another forum and tried it with my SGS2 today and am amazed at the difference today in my battery life.
Worth a shot as it does not require anything more than charging your phone and pulling the battery.
Charge your phone to 100% with the phone off (hold the power button for 3 seconds or so until the menu comes up and select power off). When you reach 100%, unplug the charger and remove your battery (some said keep the battery removed for 90 seconds while others said 3-5 minutes). I left my battery out for 5 minutes or so. Put the battery back in and power on.
That was it. My Android OS went back to normal and the battery life today has been great if not better then with 2.3.6 than before I updated.
Screen grab of my current battery use after trying this method this morning is attached.

Quite possible, but still running on the same charge from this morning and am at 28% battery after 14+ hours of normal use which is all I expect (calls, texts and light web browsing during the day over data) and then couple hours of web use at night over Wi-Fi when at home.
The last few days I was charging the phone when I got home from the office if I wanted to use it at night. Android OS was way up in the 60+ range after I first updated OTA and today it has been under 20% and more near 15%, so I'll take it.

Come to think, I probably did not do a reboot after the update and could have been all that was needed.

I did this and saw absolutely no change. 2.3.6 is draining my battery far faster than 2.3.4 ever did. The culprit is the Android OS running at 90%.
I read that it might be an issue with the wifi so I have turned that off and will report back if that seems to fix it.
I read on another forum that att and Samsung are trying to blame it on bad batteries and shipping out new batteries.
What a bunch of crap. People everywhere wouldn't suddenly all have bad batteries at the same time. Sounds like usual BS.
I personally think its just some bad coding that Samsung needs to figure out.
On a different note, I played with the Verizon Droid Razr yesterday. Man that is a really nice phone. I'm tempted to get it, but I work for att and get free cell service, so it wouldn't make sense to pay for Verizon service, even though I think their network is better.

Android OS is definately eating up the battery now. I think it does have to do with wifi, because it seems to be much improved with it off. I'll take a free battery as long as I don't need to exchange the old one.

[Q] Mini Pro getting hot with fast battery drain on ICS

Like the title says:
I use the stock rom and after the Update on ICS i noticed my phone is getting really hot even when im not using it. I tried using advanced task killer to close app running in the background and i also close every app i use in ics multitasking... its draining battery very fast! 40 % in 30 minutes. Its not warm the whole time just sometimes it gets warm and drains battery... dont know what to do :/

I had same thing using google maps with gps (as car navigation) but this is the only case. Idle it acts normal.
Taskiller self can take very much battery and make phone hoter. I really dont see + for using them. You need just check battery menu which app take so much battery and then we can help you more.

Taskkiller itself is not running in background. i use it sometimes to look which app are running in background and to kill the ones i dont need. The problem is the battery status is looking normal. Display 33% phone 19% and some other apps do also drain battery.... but the problem is its only getting warm when i dont use it. sometimes when its laying on my desk i pick it up and notice this. when i look at my battery then its sometimes 20% less then 10 minutes before when i checked facebook for example. for me this must be something with the firmware or not? or some hardware defect?
maybe take it to a mobile service
Did you make wipe after ICS update? Maybe its a bad configuration after the update.
Also, you can try CPU Spy in Google Play and tell us if phone is on state "deep sleep" (when you lock the phone, it should enter this state where battery drain is minimal).
Make screenshot of Battery Usage screen and post it here.
Then install BetterBatteryStats, use it for few days, then make screenshots(Partial Wakelocks, Alarms and Processes) and post these here.
I have the same problem, but I know it comes from the Exchange service. Sometime it becomes crazy and drain the battery + heat the phone.
For now, I just have disabled my Exchange account... Not really a good solution.
I have found others thread talking about this problem on other phones (all with ICS), but found no answer.
I did not made any wipe, nor before, nor after the update (from stock GB to stock ICS).
It's not very helping, I fear...
just a few senteces about my day:
The battery was loading untill 7:15 today then i went to school; my phone in silence mode and i used it for 4-5 whatsapp messeges and maybe 3 facebook checks and 1 or 2 instagram checks.
it got hot a few times again and its on 34% now. really bad i would say. on gingerbread i had like 60-80% after a half day in school with much more use.
Now i looked what drained Battery. in ics i cant take screenshot so i just write it down:
40% Facebook Calendar Sync
19% Display
10% Phone
8% STandby
6% WLAN
5% Android Core Apps
4% Facebook
4% Android OS
2% Android System
This is the first time i look at the battery drain seeing that Calendar Sync is taking so much Battery. I still believe it could be something else because before it was nearly the same without calendar sync and display on first place.
So for now i think im going for a wipe, hoping it will be better then.
i will share my experience with you asap. :good:
woah, 40% on that FB crap?
also, the system standby usage seems a bit large also.
try to wipe it, maybe flash some other ROM and see if it helped you.
a healthy battery usage would have display at 70% or so, phonecalls 15%, then all the rest.
depends on your usage tho.
but something is definetly wrong with your phone.
you said that the problem occured after you updated it,
so i think the hardware is out of the question (if the phone worked normal before the update), i'd definetly flash something there, the stock rom is useless anyways..
there are very good roms even if you have locked BL, check kamarush and the new CyanogenTimescape rom also.
keep us updated about ur problem
Cheers!

what do you mean with there are good roms that do not need unlocked BL. Can i just flash them through windows without rooting?

No, you can flash them using CWM. Here they are:

you must root first, then copy the rom to SD, reboot in CWM, and install from there. it's pretty straightforward from there on just make sure you select "locked bootloader" when prompted.
After the update from gb to ics I didn't notice a much higher battery drain. I use it like on gb and on my feelings battery lifetime stays equal to gb. I have got an unlocked bootloader but still on stock rom using rage kernel ics 3.2.

Soooo. I looke up what have drained my battery and it seems that the Xperia Facebook sync (The stock sync thats buildin in the normal firmware) have drained the battery. on GB everything worked fine. Now i deactivated the sync and the battery life is much better. It seems that my phone also stopped getting hot. But for me GB still had a better battery life. Today i woke up at 7 am (germany) and played Football Manager a few times between the lessons and in a free lesson so im at 16% battery now (should be ok because the football manager drains a lot of battery) and battery usage shows:
64% display
16% FMH 2012 (football manager)
7% Android System
5% Mobilfunk-Standby
4% Facebook
etc etc etc.
looks normal for me :good:
guys my battery life is fine now but i have freezes now... if i use my phone for whatsapp it sometimes just completely freezes. no chance to see a reaktion for any button any ideas wtf is going on there?
Battery drain that you've encountered is definitely not normal. I get about 3 days on ICS, and think that is what you should be getting as well. Crappy FB application is either bugged or broken, because you're not the first one that got their battery drained by FB calendar sync. My advice would be to remove FB calendar sync service, or disable it somehow, if you're not using it.

On the xmp with ics you have xperia facebook. its a facebook calendar, contacts etc sync by sony. This was the app draining my battery. i disabled it and now i have like 1 1/2 day battery with normal usage.
And for my problem with the freezes. i removed all bloatware i could but my phone is not rooted. i was thinking about rooting but i'm kinda new to the xmp roms and its hard to find ics ones that are working perfectly. before i had an lg p990 and i was using cm7.2. it was working like a charm.
i know how to root the xmp i saw some tutorials but im still not convinced

Try to open Facebook, scroll many news until the phone start to go slower... Then, scroll a little more, and then go on Whatsapp or other app, you'll find a surprise
