Working Feeds Kernel - TouchPad General

Hey there everyone,
I just got my replacement touchpad from hp after i fried the processor runnung it a 1.9. So if you fry yours just RMA it. mine blue screened and would not shut down till it got so hot it fried..
Anyways im resetting it up and i cant get any of the feeds to work ( just get errors) i already opened beta and alpha feeds in preware.
does anyone know the address of a working non error feed where i can get f4 f15c wharthog.
THANKS

New preware doesn't work like that anymore, you have to install it from a pc and run a command line to enable beta and another for alpha feeds. Once done, they all pop up automatically. Instructions are on the webpage internals wiki.
Here is the link, u need to read it all through and it will tell you how to do it on latest preware http://testing.preware.org/
Enjoy!

You have to enable them in "Manage Feeds" (Hit the Preware name at the top left)

Didn't know you can seriously fry the tp at 1.9ghz... switching to warthog just in case... RMA is not a possibility from this side... too expensive.

My RMA was free just had to wait 2 weeks

all feeds have been added. alpha and bata feeds have been enabled via command line. im still getting update errors and am unable to see the kernel ( f4 . wharthog ect... )

I don't see how you can have errors if you followed the link I posted to the letter. you have to delete preware etc and install a newer version. I do not believe you have followed the instructions complety as the situation you discribe is not how the new preware works...

I live in Costa Rica, RMA to US costs like 80 just sending to HP, when they ship the new back to me, i have to send it to an FPO and the FPO will become rich again by shipping costs.

The only way to get "around" this is to log out, and log back in. But having to do that each time is beginning to get on my wick.
Any fix for this chums?

Just another reason I use android daily now on my hd2. Facebook on windows mobile really is only available via the internet explorer or opera, twitter seems to work quite well though

Just tested mine and it seems to be working here? Takes a while to update the status but definitely working.
The problems which I have been facing were as follows:
1. With the "previous" version (1.48.405.2?) of the official ROM, though I had checked the box "store password" I would have to re-enter username and pwd everytime I went to facebook via Sense shortcut. Very annoying
2. Lately, since the update to 3.14.405.2 I also can't update the status, the only status update I got was "Hobo2009 installed Facebook for Windows Phone"

[Q] Netflix on Fascinate (APK LINKED)

So, it's just been announced that certain phones have Netflix app for Android (HTC Incredible, Nexus One, and EVO 4G with Android 2.2 installed. It’s also supported on the Nexus S and Nexus One with Android 2.3 installed.) while others will have it eventually.
Is it possible to get this apk and try it on our phones? Its a free app, so I don't see why passing it out on XDA would be against the rules.
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076150
(mods, if this is considered bad, idk why as its free and you still have to have an account, please just edit this link out)
Well, it installed and loaded perfectly.
I can also change my queue no issues, however, I cannot watch a movie. It gives an error about my device not being supported.
Maybe a hack job can fix?
If I understand right, we have to wait til sammy or verizon provides a DRM update to make the phone compatible. I don't believe you bypass it, though i am not a dev so I might be wrong.

Same on Fascinate. It would not work with the Nexus S setting at all. The HTC Setting gave me the same thing as Sophos1.
So....I installed the old leaked apk and was able to get past the login screen. It gave me the "device not supported' error only after I tried to load a show, but it never FCed. I am linking the file in case others have better luck than I.

HTC Sync can be a problems but if the drivers were standalone, I don't see why it would cause any issues.
yea ok, still same problem. adb is not finding the device even though i have usb debugging enabled and used Hasoon's tool to flash the HTC drivers.

You could have at least linked him to a driver download.
ok, i had a way to find (almost) all adb drivers for android phones and your pc. but because the user interface is all in chinese, i just recommend you to follow my steps.
first, go to 360. cn scroll down and you may see this...
(attachment 1)
click the green arrow going down...that is the download link.
second, install it.
follow the instruction on the screen...(if you don't see a word but all rectangles or alien words, that normal. just click the only button on the installer and a popup window, click the left one). a popup window on your internet explorer or google chrome and go down to the list, click the first one, a circle with yellow and green. remember it is the first circle but not the second. again, the green arrow. the size is about 900kb.
step 3, run the installer, again click the only blue rectangle inside the installer. a download will go on. just wait...
after that, it will install automatically.
next, you may see two boxes checked. uncheck the second one. in this case, just kill the process (inst.exe) with task manager.
remember the install i mentioned in step 1? ok, run it. this time if you click the blue rectangle you should not get an error.
so, continue the installation process. see a box popup, click the first one. if you did things right, you should see 3 new windows popping up. close both on front.
now here's the highlight...
connect your phone with your computer with usb, with usb debugging enabled.
at the upper left of your application, you should see a white box with four words.
click the box, click the usb, click the boxes inside the dialog one by one. one of them means next step.so, you should see three circles, first one is searching for adb driver, second one is downloading adb driver, third one is installing driver( at the third one you should see a warning from windows, leave it, just say install.)
and you will see a white shopping bag with a funky flower...close it, close the application. now your computer should now be able to identify your phone!
this way is for all android phones. if you want to do it for someone you know, just follow the instructions again. remember that the applications that installed is not be uninstalled so that you can use them again.
thank me if i helped you, lastly, i hope that it helps!

Android Market ( Play ) - Unable to leave comment on app after ICS update

Yes, I have searched. Heres another thing that appears to be broken after the ICS update...or Im missing something here. When you go to rate and comment on a market app, as soon as you start typing in the text box ....the OK button grays out and you can't submit your comment/rating. As soon as I delete all of my text....voila! ..its like im only allowed to rate, but not leave a comment. I have always left comments..how to remedy this? Yes im logged in with my gmail account.
Works just fine for me on NilsP's Sense 4 ROM.

I would run the RUU. It really sounds like a bad flash to me man.
There are a couple links to the PH98IMG file around, you should be able to flash that without an issue.
[edit] Here is the link: http://db.tt/M09JDsfq
This **will** wipe everything. I would also recommend doing a gactory reset in hboot after running this. Some say run it twice, I usually don't but YMMV.

LunaCE

If you've not been back to webOS in while, this is worth checking out. The devs at webOS internals have built a community edition of the Luna manger used by webOS.
Great new features. Best (in my view) are the new gestures allowing to switch between apps by swiping in from the edge of the screen. Card stacks can be put in tabs for faster switching too. Behaves like I imagine windows 8 will from the videos I've seen. Definitely worth checking out. Only word of warning is that you must be running the latest webOS version which can be a tricky update with android installed. Nothing too tough.. Something to play around with anyhow
You will also need to enable beta testing feeds in order to download the new Luna. This will require you to remove preware and reinstall
as well as modifying the settings in preware. There are several changes that need to be made but the webosnation forum has detailed instructions for making all the changes.

good point. I didn't find enabling beta feeds too tough. Worse was updating webOS to 3.05. The ota update doesn't play nice with moboot on some devices. Kept failing. I used webOS doctor to update. That actually removes moboot (not android, just moboot) so I just used acme to reinstall moboot only.

looks nice, now get it out of beta I had trouble getting beta feed to work, I wasn't savy enough to get it right the first time so I went back to default preware lol

I have both beta and alpha feeds enabled but don't think I found the right file. When I do a search for Luna I get two files one dated a month ago, which doesn't seem to do anything and the other dated 2010 which obviously isn't it. What is the file name.

Not sure where the difficulty was for you, but a decent set of instructions are on the webOS internals wiki.

You'll need a computer with a working novaterm installed. From there its just copy/paste. I uninstalled preware then used the novaterm connection to enable the feed and reinstall preware

the file is LunaCE. Make sure the feed is enabled using the instructions AND enabled in the preware manage feeds menu. When preware is updating feeds, do you see beta feeds being shown as the circle spins?

Yes I see both beta and alpha the only feed I don't have enabled is the preware theme feed. Could it be in there? Also it was almost a year ago that I installed preware so could there be a new beta feed that I will get if I uninstall and reinstall preware?
UPDATE: ok I figured it out it was under beta-woce which has wasn't enabled. I. Hadn't noticed that feed yesterday but I have it now so thank you.

No , you must also install an app from preware called" Tweaks " .I made the same mistake myself. Open Tweaks then in its menu settings enable gestures etc .

You might be able to download a terminal emulator in preware, then follow the same instructions entering the commands there instead of with a pc.

hdad is right. You can use xecutah/xserver/xterm to do this. Heres a short video showing it running:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDzhOylypv4
You can use this to run the commands. I tried it once before but wasnt very familiar with it so I went the webOS quick install route instead. But if you dont have a PC to work on, try this out.
The process to get the alpha/beta feeds installed though requires you to delete preware. Which, without a PC, is kinda tricky to get back. You can try Save/Restore. Its kind of like Titanium Backup for webOS. But I dont know if restoring it from there will effect the command changes you make. Or download Internalz Pro and email the Preware ipk to your device, I think you can use Internalz to handle package installs.

Yeah, its not the Xecutah part i'd have trouble with, it's the "enable alpha/beta feeds" part. I only have one PC that will work properly with novacom, and its my dads slow-as-heck Windows Vista laptop. I'd rather wait for this to exit beta than risk it(cause I don't trust the laptop)

What do you mean? The ENTIRE process is carried out on the TouchPad from within webOS using Xecutah... using the terminal with Novacom is an entirely different route of doing the same thing
The only thing you use the laptop for is to view the wiki site where the enable commands are... but ALL commands are typed in and executed ON THE TOUCHPAD and not connected in any way, shape or form to the computer....
Hope this helps and gets you on the way to enjoying the new tweaks
By the way... they have updated to LunaCE 4.90
