Is the Flyer plagued with the movie playback woes of the Tegra2 chipset that all the current flock of Android tablets seem to have?
Anyone played a 720/1080p MKV video on this tablet?
MKV 1080p videos play like ****, Vplayer, jerky and artifacting. Samsung Galaxy S2 plays much much better, like, perfect.
True the SGS2 does, but so does my old Vibrant. I am more concerned about the tablets and if I should be waiting for the HTC 10" tablet or get one available now. The video playback capability will seal the deal for me.

first of all they have to put the ntfs compatibility to let us upload files over 4gbyte.
I can't imagine that using a capable processor like this one I can't play at lease 720p movies !
How's the video player performance on the AT&T Note? Can you play 720p mkv files smoothly? Any black clipping issues described here?

I own the international Note. Just wondering how's the quality control for the AT&T note. If it's much better I might switch.
Thanks

Hi all...
I have a Note 2 that is giving me some difficulty with video. I am playing back blu ray rips dirrectly made from makemkv. These MKV files play back perfectly smooth on my S3 using bsplayer, but when I am using the same micro sd card with the same mkv file in my note 2 I see what appears to be slight stuttering. About every 5 seconds or so the screen gets just a bit fuzzy for just a milisecond.
My understanding is that the note2 has a faster processor and should be at least as capable as the s3 with regards to playing back video. Again, I am using the same app player, same sd card, and same file and there is not stutter on the S2 but there is with the Note2.
Any suggestions? Maybe a faulty phone...
Edit. Both note2 and s3 are stock.
Have you checked to see how much free memory is available on both devices before the video is played?

Yes, I have cleared memory on both S3 and Note2 and they both show about 500-600 MB being used. I have uninstalled, and then reinstalled BSplayer on both. The S3 plays 1080p mkv files flawlessly using the hardware decode option, and the Note2 stutters doing the same. I can get the Note 2 to play the video smoothly using the Software decode option, but the color tint constantly changes within scenes of a movie.
I downloaded Quadrant standard app to see how well the phone is performing. My Note2 is getting a score of around 6,100-which seems typical for a stock version. The S3 is getting around 5,800.
Doesnt make sence to me why the Note2 is struggling to play video and the S3 is not.
different phone, same result
I went and switched the Note2 for another one at Verizon. The new one displays the exact same behaviour, so it must be something with the Note 2.
Cant believe that my S3 is able to play 1080p mkv rips (no conversion using makemkv.) with no problem, yet the Note2 cannot. Also did some benchmarking specifically targeting the gpu. The S3 beats the Note2 in most of them....Go figure!!

I haven't had any stutter playing them with mxplayer. Plays identical to how they play on my GSIII. 1080P.mkvs that is.

I use mxplayer flawlessly as well. Not all apps are created equal. Some support more processors and phones better

Are you using the ARM7 plugin? If not, that is your issue right there.
Hello there my friends, this is my first time posting in XDA Developers so forgive me if I make any mistake, sorry if this is not the correct forum for this post.
Soooooo, I had a Galaxy S2 as my previous phone, which died so I went to get a new one and I decided to buy this Galaxy Win (Grand Quattro) since at first sight seemed like a nice smartphone. In my old Galaxy S2 I used have my collection of music videos and other types in HD qualities such as 720p and even 1080p, and I really enjoyed watching them in my free time. When I got this Grand Quattro one of the first thing I did was to get my HD videos on my new phone when I got the surprise that this phone cannot play that kind of quality.
I was very surprised since is a Quad-Core smartphone and my S2 was a Dual-Core one, so talking about processor the Grand Quattro is better. Also the Grand Quattro have a 1GB RAM memory which is equal to the 1GB RAM memory of my old S2, so talking about RAM is the same.
I was wondering why cant I play HD videos on the Grand Quattro if it have better specifications than my old S2?
Is there a way for me to play them on the Grand Quattro?
I was wondering that myself for a bit when I got to the conclusion that why would a smartphone with a 5 MP camera that cant even record on 720p play a video in that quality, thinking that way its kinda obvious, the S2 had a 8 MP camera capable of recording even 1080p and the Grand Quattro cand poorly record some 480p.
Sorry if my question is kinda stupid I just had some curiosity and wanted to ask here, thank you very much
Quattro's processor is cortex a5 while s2 is cortex a9 and if you want to play HD videos then install MX player but quattro is better for gaming

Firstly install mx player... and then go to playstore and search for "MX Player Codec(ARMv7)" and install it... After installing it, open your mx player and go to settings and then go to decoder... there you will see an option "USE H/W+ Decoder",, enable it by ticking it.. and thats it.. you can now play 1080p videos on your Quattro!!

Just like lols21 said it doenst work u.u i installed everything and the video runs but its all laggy so unwatchable. Thank you everyone for your answers:laugh:
Not only cpu but it also depends on gpu.. And there is no hd support in quattro.. And for ur kind of information dual core cortex a9 cpu id far better than quad core cortex a5 cpu.. The only advantage is cortex a5 consume less battery.. Dont compare cpu with number of cores but compare with the architechture of the cpu..

It worked on my quattro.i didn't even download codec.i just mx player and run video in software decoder mode instead od hardware decoder and hardware decoder+ mode
