Is the Flyer plagued with the movie playback woes of the Tegra2 chipset that all the current flock of Android tablets seem to have?
Anyone played a 720/1080p MKV video on this tablet?
MKV 1080p videos play like ****, Vplayer, jerky and artifacting. Samsung Galaxy S2 plays much much better, like, perfect.
True the SGS2 does, but so does my old Vibrant. I am more concerned about the tablets and if I should be waiting for the HTC 10" tablet or get one available now. The video playback capability will seal the deal for me.

first of all they have to put the ntfs compatibility to let us upload files over 4gbyte.
I can't imagine that using a capable processor like this one I can't play at lease 720p movies !
hello friends. If developers are listening then please find out solution to play mkv 720p files smoothly. Many people are already frustrated. I believe that 1 ghz dual core Tegra2 processor should be enough for handling these big and rich mkvs. While that galaxy s2 phone's 1.2ghz processor can handle any mkv so fluent. That makes me feel jealous. Only 0.2 ghz difference can make this big difference? I don't think so. I think software and codecs are limited for our tablets. If I were a developer then I would certainly dig this problem very deep and find some solution.
Another thing is please do something to make our tabs be able to make calls.(talking p7500 model) because Ipad 3g already have one app called phoneitpad to give this functionality.
If these two things are solved then those developers will be worshipped as gods by our galaxy tab owners community. So please developers, start your engines. We request you to give us good news as Christmas gift. Time starts now.
I'm totaly agree, I cant understand how this devices cant handle even 720p.
Hello..
I wanna buy an Galaxy player or Galaxy wifi..
But i have 2 questions:
1:Galaxy player, have 800x480 rez and wifi 480x800?Who is better for gaming?
2: is it good for games?or mby i buy an ipod 4 for games?
Hello.galaxy player=galaxy wifi
If i'm not wrong then they are the same... I prefer the Galaxy, because it has got a big screen and the games look very nice on it.

Nope, the Galaxy Player have another rez ..
Have u found any game who dosen't run?
what's the difference between 800x480 and 480x800? aren't they the same? one puts length over width vs width over length only as far as i can see it. the difference between the 2 is that the player has full capacitive menus while the galaxy wifi has a physical home button.
or maybe you are pertaining to the player 4.0 vs the wifi 5.0...
Tere are 2 versions of them... USA and europian version... The USA has 3 capacitive buttons while the europian version has a physical home button

Each country call this device different. But it's a same device.
My country(Thailand) called "Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0"

Hello Roby!
I'll try and answer your questions with as much detail as possible.
1.) The two devices are the same with the 800 x 480 resolution
The resolution looks pretty fantastic for what it is in most games
3D games are noticably lower quality than the iOS equivalent versions (due to the graphic chip in the Galaxy Player being a bit weaker), but games still look great!
Screen is bright and colorful for gaming (with ample battery life!)
2.) The Galaxy Player 5 is fantastic for gaming in my opinion (I've owned one since around launch).
It can play many 3D games perfectly (MC3, DS, O&C, Avatar, and more!)
If you use Chainfire3d, you can bump up the AA to 4xMSAA for better quality 3D gaming.
SD Card allows more room and options for gaming than on an iPod
Though I'd prefer a Galaxy Player, graphics look BETTER on the iPod Touch 4th Generation
I'd recommend the Galaxy Player overall. I have both the iPT4 and the Galaxy Player 5 and rarely use the iPod for more than Temple Run + Music.

Hi all...
I have a Note 2 that is giving me some difficulty with video. I am playing back blu ray rips dirrectly made from makemkv. These MKV files play back perfectly smooth on my S3 using bsplayer, but when I am using the same micro sd card with the same mkv file in my note 2 I see what appears to be slight stuttering. About every 5 seconds or so the screen gets just a bit fuzzy for just a milisecond.
My understanding is that the note2 has a faster processor and should be at least as capable as the s3 with regards to playing back video. Again, I am using the same app player, same sd card, and same file and there is not stutter on the S2 but there is with the Note2.
Any suggestions? Maybe a faulty phone...
Edit. Both note2 and s3 are stock.
Have you checked to see how much free memory is available on both devices before the video is played?

Yes, I have cleared memory on both S3 and Note2 and they both show about 500-600 MB being used. I have uninstalled, and then reinstalled BSplayer on both. The S3 plays 1080p mkv files flawlessly using the hardware decode option, and the Note2 stutters doing the same. I can get the Note 2 to play the video smoothly using the Software decode option, but the color tint constantly changes within scenes of a movie.
I downloaded Quadrant standard app to see how well the phone is performing. My Note2 is getting a score of around 6,100-which seems typical for a stock version. The S3 is getting around 5,800.
Doesnt make sence to me why the Note2 is struggling to play video and the S3 is not.
different phone, same result
I went and switched the Note2 for another one at Verizon. The new one displays the exact same behaviour, so it must be something with the Note 2.
Cant believe that my S3 is able to play 1080p mkv rips (no conversion using makemkv.) with no problem, yet the Note2 cannot. Also did some benchmarking specifically targeting the gpu. The S3 beats the Note2 in most of them....Go figure!!

I haven't had any stutter playing them with mxplayer. Plays identical to how they play on my GSIII. 1080P.mkvs that is.

I use mxplayer flawlessly as well. Not all apps are created equal. Some support more processors and phones better

Are you using the ARM7 plugin? If not, that is your issue right there.
Please help
i just want to know that does htc provides with the 720p video playback in the new jellybean update?
And why the phone lags 720p video playback (by using 3rd party appln like mxplayer, moboplayer...) even though it has the hardware requirements more than wat is actually required, in its current ICS rom?
Does the phone support 720p video playback if rooted to custom roms?

I made few quick tests after JB update and:
1. No, It does'nt play 720p videos (tested with some videos recorded by Desire S).
2. Same videos tested with mx player (last version) and decoded HW plays OK.
I had not tested videos with higher resolutions or large dimensions...

Does it plays 720p video without any lag in mxplayer using hw decoder?
maybe ill look stupid, but i have to ask... why everyone wants to play 1280x720 video at 840x400 screen? Even if it worked, it would be the same (or worse in my experience) than proper fitting video...

Me for example... I have a lot of video clips recorded with my wife's phone which are 720p. I do not want to convert them every time I want to watch them.
And yes... I didn't notice any lag on that movies using mxplayer HW decoding.

Hello pls help, I have a set of HD videos with me if the device supports 720p playback I could play it on the device directly otherwise it would be a headache to convert it in to lower resolution.
thanku.
Ok listen now
1.This phone CANT play HD video cuz the processor DONT support HD resolution...No way to play it
2.Processor can record 720pix video but the phone cant play it so from HTC will not allow to record HD vide on this device.
I dont know why HTC make that , maybe is just a trick to buy HTC one x other high price device.(SG S3 mini have 1GB Ram,5 mpix camera - Record on 720pix+Front camera and is on the same price- SG3 mini i think is equivalent to Desire X.)

But other phones with lower spec and price like HTC one v can record and play hd videos(which has only 1.2 GHz single core processor & 512 mb ram against 1ghz dual core s4 play processor & 768 mb ram of HTC desire x)
My doubt is that, desire x was able 2 play hd videos of high bit rate in mxplayer but with some lag(in ICS), Does the playback of hd video is smooth( ie without any lag) in its new firmware update to JELLYBEAN.
I was w8ting so excided about jb cuz i think i can play hd but... :/ And full sence...

no I don't think so. And it doesn't make sense as our screen resolution is 480p.

You're right dear, but I was taking with respect to HTC . as being a manufacturer, it doesn't make sense for them to add such support. I don't know any HTC phone of 800x480 resolution in which stock kernel supports 720p playback. It is always the xda devs which layer on added such features to kernels.

Sorry misread your post! Totally agree that this forum consistently outperforms against HTC's own software!

My last phone was Desire S who has stock ROM (RUU downloaded from HTCdev) and it records video at 720p and it has 800x480. Now my wife is using the phone and video clips recorded at 720p on Desire S ARE NOT played on my DX!
I tried MX Player and it plays that videos without lag... For me is OK! I didn't tried other movies, videos on other resolutions and so on because I don't have time for that...

You completely missed the point of nexus post. I did too, it's an honest mistake. Except you have a bad attitude. This will put great contributors like Nexus off this forum.
Don't do it. Cop on to yourself.
