Awesome news guys stable version for SGS2 is released .!!
here's the link http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=galaxys2
EDIT- Sorry posted on wrong section plz move it to general section
Awesome, just flashed it. Figures, I switched to MIUI yesterday from CM build #75 because it was incredibly unstable. Just about the time I get it set up, they release a stable version of CM. But hey I'm not complaining. Can't wait to give it a full day tomorrow. It's going to be a hard choice between the two though, MIUI is pretty clean.
reading on cm forum, seems they fixed the bt bug and its fully functionally, thats a very good news, since this prolly mean we are having also miui with bt working soon
FC heaps on the camera lol...but still great to finally have a stable on CM! =D reminds me of the good old HTC days...
Anyone know if TV out is working? This is probably the only thing stopping me from flashing.
read this today and will be waiting for any user feedbacks because this is going to be my very first CM install.
Going to have to say goodbye on my litening rom..
btw the new build also supports european gs2s right?

Is there really supposed to be home screen wake up lag on CM?? I thought this was only an issue with Samsung based roms??

Bull****. Been using it since nightly #20 or so, and it has been stable since then.
I want to try this out, although I don't really want to get totally rid of my stock ROM just yet. Was there a way to be able to run this from the SD card or some form of dual boot? I think I read about it somewhere.
Any info on aos bug, general battery life and speed?

If you already have root + clockwork recovery do a nandroid backup then install CM7.
If you don't like it you can always restore back
But no SD version that i know of sorry.

Pretty much standard procedure then.
(I wouldn't mind a way to dualboot though; that would be good)
EDIT: Although I seem to keep getting
Code:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
when I try to back up. I'll try another version if I find it.
Hey, that's indeed a great news !
Unfortunately, when I try to follow the official wiki, I got stuck when Heimdall is supposed to detect my phone in download mode, it says "Failed to detect compatible download-mode device." whereas my phone is in dl mode (the screen says it : "waiting for download"...
It got stuck when I try to flash the kernel given in the wiki. And honestly, I think I already flashed a kernel (because I'm root and there is the yellow /!\ on boot) but can't remember which one...
Help... ?
Not bull****. I started using it on build 75 and it crashed about 10 times a day. I thought it was due to superpower at first, but after completely uninstalling it I still had the issue. Also, the battery life was unusably bad. Maybe you had a better experience. That's great, but I experienced what I did. It was a nightly so I accepted it and tried something else. They released a stable version and now I'm back on it. Its working much better now. For the record I'm a huge fan of cyanogenmod, I have it running on my Matrix 4G as well.

So do we have a "Things that still don't work properly/at all" list? The OP in the main CM7 thread hasn't been updated (yet?).
Have we got full stable BT HSP/HFP/A2DP/AVRCP support?
MHL?
Stable WiFi?
An option to do a loopback mount of the /mnt/emmc mountpoint back to what used to be /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/ ? (Yeah, can always do it in a init.rc file)
Have they fixed the horrendous battery drain? (I last tried a couple of 50-something nightlies)

Try reinstalling the USB drivers that come with Heimdall.
i am not 100% sure if there are more device specific optimisations than in an normal nightly. Afaik the version changes of cyanogenmod are just for the general sourcecode, which is used to build roms for all supported devices.
So that means no tv-out, no bluetooth and no mhl for us. But thats just a matter of time. sooner or later bluetooth and FM will work; not so sure about mhl.

As to the question about battery life, it is significantly better. Run super power or juice defender and its especially decent. I keep a spare battery in reach anyways, but I usually don't have to put it in until 10 or 11pm if I keep tthe phone unplugged all day.
I don't use a2dp so I haven't tested it, and I prefer iheartradio so I haven't messed with the radio yet either. I keep popping back and forth between my MIUI and cywnogenmod backups, both are awesome in their own ways. Its hard to decide a permanent rom. But I'm leaning toward CM7.

Hi guys,
Firstly many thanks to slade87 and all those involved in the making of the above mentioned rom. Finally got it woking on my phone and am loving!!
Sadly, I have a problem, and its probably something stupid ive overlooked. When im on the marketplace I can see the apps fine if I manually look in the categories, but searching for anything, even by the exact name tells me that no such thing exists in the marketplace!!!
Any ideas.
Thanks
Jim

a fair point, to be honest i went for a rom that matched the baseband on my phone and looked stable and to be fair to the rom everything else has worked fine. i have tried installing other roms after installing cwm using these instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182571&highlight=installing+cwm
sadly when i did this every rom i tried to install generated an error message regarding scripting and android 1.5.
luck.... i dont seem to have it!!!
gone back to this mornings backup of the stock 2.1 rom and will try again tonight when i get in from work. have got cyanocomb 1.4 downloaded so might give that a try unless any one has any suggestions.

Cyanocomb is a good choice
froyoCM6 v6.01+hotfix to 6.01.2 by madbulls is also a very good rom
even better would be to try the gingerbread roms
there's 3 of them currently and all 3 of them are very very good for usage too
Now using cyanocomb 1.4, battery life was a bit of an issue to begin with but has much improved with a little messing around. May try further roms, only gripe is the symbol key not working, but the softkeyboard takes care of that after a fashion!!!

Ok, so I did some stupid things while trying to install cyanogenmod (my Android friends told me I needed to do this). All was going well until I rebooted using rommanager, and had a signature error (i think). I then pressed ALL OF THE WRONG BUTTONS (probably toggle signature verification i think). Now when i boot the phone it goes:
- o2 animation screen
- galaxy s2 logo
- pause
- o2 animation screen (repeat)
SO.. I'm guessing I need to put the firmware back on there, right? I can get into download mode OK:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-i9100
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (3 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
I'm guessing I can use Odin to install a new OS / firmware.. right? .....right? I would start trying to fix this myself, but I'm guessing the chances of me breaking this even further are *really high*.
If anyone can offer any help, a terrible n00b would be extremely grateful.. Hey if you want any Unity3D advice in exchange, let me know
You have a bootloop. Just download the correct firmware for your phone and flash through odin.

Vile & horrible, lol.
Don't worry mate. Just get it back to a level playing field and then think about custom ROMs, like CM.
Look at the xda bookmarks in my sig and get the official firmware thread. Just get a recent one from there and flash. You should be good to go after that. Everything you need to know is in the 1st post of the thread.
Incidentally, don't listen to anyone that tells you you "need" to do anything. Get the thing working and just use it. A lot of phones are definitely better with custom stuff on them, but this phone really doesn't need it for a great experience. Once you know it well enough to know what more you want then you can start getting custom ROMs in order to do that. Seriously, the stock version of the SGS2 is still better than most phones out there with the best custom ROMs available. It just depends what you want out of it.
ITS WORKING AGAIN!!
Thankfully I made a backup.. and i restored it using clockwork recovery mode.
I want to use it for development, and I am a nerd, so I want to mess around with it a bit.. so now it's working again, back to cyanogen, and to work out what I did wrong!

Glad you got it working mate.
I tried CM7 recently myself, and despite being very careful and following the instructions to the letter I ended up stuck on the boot logo. A reboot into recovery mode fixed it though, automatically, so no harm done.
I guess there's no black and white in these things. Sometimes, "something" just goes wrong.
What kind of development are you gonna be doing? Are you gonna be the next big thing in ROMs or apps?

before doing any more messing around make sure you take a backup of your efs folder this contains your imei number and other stuff. if that buggers up, then you will not be able to fix it yourself. see this thread for a guide of how to backup your EFS folder.

Currently running CM9 on my Photon, would like to go back to stock, have searched and havent really found to much.
Is there a guide for the simple minded among us (namely me) to go back to stock???
I have a feeling it's really simple and I am gonna feel silly for asking....heh
Boot into recovery,
hard reset X3
Reboot into rsd mode
Sbf back to stock
(you will have t to re root and unlock if you choose to after)

It was pretty nice, but not all it's cracked up to be. A few things didnt work.
But the most annoying thing was it didnt seem to know it was on Sprint network.
It was nice, and I dont wanna crap on the hard work put into it..
It's acting kind of flakey, I wonder if re-flashing it would help, I might try that first then maybe go back to stock.....
Ive had very few issues with CM9 and ive followed it from the beginning Alpha stages.. Try a different version if you have issues. To each his own for sure some people will like others won't. I personally cant be taken away from it. Ive had VERY few network issues where it wouldn't connect and the not working items list gets smaller each day, its basically down to video camera in stock app and few other minor things. As for going back to stock if you need super detail check out QBKing77 on youtube, he has a video of exactly what to do.
I am currently running beta-0.1.0-2d-cm-9.0.0-RC0-Sunfire-KANG-signed, maybe I should just upgrade to beta-0.5.0-cm-9.0.0-RC0-sunfire-UNOFFICIAL-signed. If I do that, I pretty much follow the directions I did to flash the original correct??
Basically from about 3 minutes in on QB's tut video??

When coming from previous cm9 build just wipe system in mounts and storage and flash thr newer build onto it via clockworkmod recovery.
Sent not from your device!
I will give that a try, I tried 3 or 4 times yesterday but it would get stuck on the M duel core screen.
Restored the back up I had and it was ok then.
EDIT:
No love yet again, I am using CWM 5.0.2.7.
It stops at the M duel core tech screen and just sits there.
Did you flash twice? If you don't, it bootloops.

The way i got that rom to work on my photon was to run the original rom, then go back and flash the most recent version, that worked perfectly for me!
I will give that a whirl after after work, thanks....
Finally, got it going, further reading figured out to flash the rom twice in a row, currently running 0.5.0, had to flash the CDMA fix to get the signal, running great, much smoother then the 0.1.0......
Thanks for all the help guys.....

So I finally made the jump and got S-Off using the Moonshine method (Love that sh** BTW) and I flashed CM10 Stable from the Cyanogen website directly. The first error I got was the keyboard would not come up and I was unable to even do anything. I tried using a different keyboard under setting and wouldn't even let me change it.
Next I flashed the latest Nightly thinking this would maybe be more stable and that one gave me the "no SD card error" so I can't use the camera whatsoever.
My question is what version of CM10 fixes both of these issues, or at least somewhat fixes them? I having been flashing for several years so I am used to things being broken in CM10, but these two things are very crucial. Is there a CM10 ROM or variant that works stable enough for daily use? I know there is a flashable zip file fix for the SD card issue, but I really wanted to use the stable version, but the keyboard issue really kills that idea. Am I doing something wrong when flashing the stable version?
Any help would be appreciated. I have no problem using a custom AOSP CM10 based wrong, but there are so many I don't know what to choose?
Thank all.

wait, what was wrong, im having the same issue and ive flashed cm10 a hundred times now without this issue before.
I have followed carefully (twice) the instal Tut's for both CM 9 and CM 10.1 however I have a screen problem and hang on start up.
When turning on the Atrix 4G (MB860) it seems to start Ok saying Unlocked and the Red M logo shows in the middle, as normal.
Then suddenly the screen seems to split into segments so there are 2 Unlocked texts at the top and an M in the middle at he very bottom, and two half M's either side. The phone hangs at that point.
Any ideas please ?
thanks

Thanks for that feedback. I tried again but it is still doing the same thing. I even went for a walk around the block to give it time
do you had full wipe?
Correct yes.
Via the Advanced section I did a Cache, Dalvik, System etc etc.
Then I installed the CM-9 same hanging situation.
Full wipe again via all items, then I tried 10.1 same hanging situation.
I have Unlocked the phone, and I did also Root the phone, but what if the Root didn't work, would it hang like this or do something different. I guess what I am asking is, can I check the root worked, or can I assume it worked if the install gets this far anyway ?
thanks

First off, you should really update that recovery. 4.x recoveries have been long since retired. We're now on 5.0.2.x up to 6.0.4.4

CM10-10.2 is JB. CM11 is KK. Why you would flash KK gapps onto a JB build is extremely confusing.
That build is using the 3.1.10 kernel. To see that, go to options>about phone.
Boot logo and charging meter (as mentioned in my previous post) are related in terms of the kernel. Fix one, get a glitchy image on the screen for the other. Normal, and already discussed across all 3.1.10 kernel based roms.

..."Why you would flash KK gapps onto a JB build is extremely confusing."... If you're confused then imagine how I feel Just kidding.
I am absolutely new to all this so apologies for my lack of familiarity. I'm flying by the seat of my pants here. I'm trying to catch on as I read posts around the place.
So as I read your feedback I should ;
a) upgrade the Recovery to 5.x or 6.x (not sure where to find these)
b) locate CM10-10.2 JB or CM 11 KK and use the appropriate gapps (JB or KK)
glitchy image doesn't worry me at all, I am just keen to get a V4.x of Android installed so I can use this phone for some other security development that needs Android 4.x, otherwise I have to splash out $150 to buy a new phone which I'm not keen on doing.
It would be nice also to have the fingerprint working on the upgraded version. I saw an addon for Beanstalk somewhere and the developer said that installing that apk would activate the finger scanner. That said, I don't really have much of an idea what I am talking about, just what I have gleaned reading postings. I am 59 years old and with a bunch of old school IT like IBM mainframes etc behind me but am new to all this upgrading of mobiles
If you could steer me to any links that would be great.
thanks

I am absolutely new to all this so apologies for my lack of familiarity. I'm flying by the seat of my pants here. I'm trying to catch on as I read posts around the place.
So as I read your feedback I should ;
a) upgrade the Recovery to 5.x or 6.x (not sure where to find these)
b) locate CM10-10.2 JB or CM 11 KK and use the appropriate gapps (JB or KK)
glitchy image doesn't worry me at all, I am just keen to get a V4.x of Android installed so I can use this phone for some other security development that needs Android 4.x, otherwise I have to splash out $150 to buy a new phone which I'm not keen on doing.
If you could steer me to any links that would be great.
thanks

Its all good, we've all been there (being noobs i mean)
The 5.x recovery can be found by going to the general section, the thread that has may 16th in its title, and clicking a link in post #1
The 6.x recovery can be found in the new CM10.2 thread (the one not done by epinter)
This is the only Android phone with fingerprint technology (to the best of my knowledge). Most stable on 2.3.x, however it does work on 4.0.4, although its more hit or miss at that point. I've got my Atrix 4G still and i'm running AtrICS v2.0 (Nov 2012 build) with the home button fix and the latest kernel released by krystian (10 Feb (haven't checked development at the time of this post)). Fingerprint for me does work.
Beanstalk is a JB ROM, i believe based off of the old kernel (2.x). I don't recall if that one had the fp working or not.
If the 4G can't do what you need, the A2 and AHD, both which succeeded the 4G, are both available for under 150 on amazon (my AHD was 134 after tax and shipping)

Thanks for that info. A quick question - I see one of the Recovery versions says : CWM-Recovery 6 for Galaxy ACE GT-S5830. Does that mean it is specifically for that model and I need to find one that actually refers to the Atrix 4G MB860 ?
cheers
Good News ..... It's working.
It seems the issue might have been the Recovery app / version. After updating that to 5.x and reinstalling the OS it ran like a dream.
I started with AtrICS v2.0 as you indicated and that worked just fone although for some reason WiFi was not being detected.
I then reformatted etc and installed cm-10.1-20131211-UNOFFICIAL-epinter-olympus and it's all looking good, including fingerprint.
Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.
cheers

Yes you did need to flash a CWM designed specifically for the A4G. AtrICS can be tricky, sometimes, but as long as you installed the main ROM, then the Vendor zip, you should get wifi. If you want to use the 3.1.10 kernel, flash the home fix zip thats in that thread, then upgrade the kernel as needed (highly recommended if you chose this option).
Glad to see you were able to upgrade, and no problem.
