Unable to search marketplace since installing slade87-v2-cm6 - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi guys,
Firstly many thanks to slade87 and all those involved in the making of the above mentioned rom. Finally got it woking on my phone and am loving!!
Sadly, I have a problem, and its probably something stupid ive overlooked. When im on the marketplace I can see the apps fine if I manually look in the categories, but searching for anything, even by the exact name tells me that no such thing exists in the marketplace!!!
Any ideas.
Thanks
Jim

a fair point, to be honest i went for a rom that matched the baseband on my phone and looked stable and to be fair to the rom everything else has worked fine. i have tried installing other roms after installing cwm using these instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182571&highlight=installing+cwm
sadly when i did this every rom i tried to install generated an error message regarding scripting and android 1.5.
luck.... i dont seem to have it!!!

gone back to this mornings backup of the stock 2.1 rom and will try again tonight when i get in from work. have got cyanocomb 1.4 downloaded so might give that a try unless any one has any suggestions.

Cyanocomb is a good choice
froyoCM6 v6.01+hotfix to 6.01.2 by madbulls is also a very good rom
even better would be to try the gingerbread roms
there's 3 of them currently and all 3 of them are very very good for usage too

Now using cyanocomb 1.4, battery life was a bit of an issue to begin with but has much improved with a little messing around. May try further roms, only gripe is the symbol key not working, but the softkeyboard takes care of that after a fashion!!!

[Q] Should I upgrade to Android 2.2?

First, sorry if this has been asked, I actually did try to find the answer on my own but no I cant seem to find it.
1st: Should I upgrade to 2.2?
2nd: Are Froyo and MIUI roms similar or is one better than the other?
3rd: Are there any limitations? Such as something not working yet? Or have most major bugs been fixed?
4th: It's obvious this voids the warranty, if I need to send this thing in for repair, can the original OS be put back on?
From what I've heard 2.2 is alot better, and would most likely be welcomed, I just need my questions answered so I don't screw myself over before I do this.

1: its really up to you.
2: Regular froyo looks like stock android, miui looks more like an iphone rom. The speed and performance of the rom depends on how the Creator of the rom optimized it.
3: most things are working on most roms. On some, certain features like wifi, or GPS doesn't work, but those are mostly the roms that are in beta. I have yet to find any custom rom with a FULLY working camera.......
4: yes it can. You coould use pc companion, or SEUS, flashtool, and there's even a method to get back to stock with out using usb(if the ports broken or something...)
I switched to miui(based on froyo) because most other roms seemed kinda the same to me. Just remember to read the instructions before flashing a new rom, and check that you have the right baseband.
Happy flashing

Well the MIUI looks good.
Is there anything besides the camera that I should know about?
Also when you say not fully working camera, what do you mean?
Also my baseband says 2.1.55, so I'm assuming when someone asks for my baseband it's 55? So I need to find a rom that supports baseband 55 right?

On trips miui 1.5.5 which I am using, its smooth and fast, everything works except the camera (zoom + light not working). Its recommend to use baseband 61 or higher for best results, however I have heard of problems with 61 (but they were probably false) so I am using baseband 54, and everything seems to work. Not sure how 55 would work (and yes your baseband is 55) but you can try it, or you can flash a new baseband via flashtool.

I looked on the forum and people were saying Cobrato's rom was pretty good.
But on the instructions to install it, it's just saying flash this flash that.
Is there a guide that actually tells you what to do?
I found this dummy's guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
But it doesn't mention anything about flashing the entire OS.
Thanks

Do you have xrecovery? That is very useful for flashing roms and such (but not basebands)
Once you have xrecovery, simply copy all of those files to you sd card, reboot, tap the back button when Sony Ericsson appears on the screen, backup, full wipe, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe battery stats, flash the zip files in the order they recomend (you will need to flash the baseband patch) ect ....
To get it, there is a thread in the Dev section where you can download install xrecovery. EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571
If you need any specific help with xrecovery, just ask
Sent from my X10 TripNMiUI-IRIS using XDA Premium App
I downloaded the XRecovery Installer.
Busybox is installed.
But I get an error trying to install xRecovery, the sh command won't install says:
cp: can't stat 'sdcard/Android/data/com.zoz33.xrecoveryInstaller/busybox' No such file or directory
any idea whats wrong?
Edit: Oh I'm using the installer APK from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9561575
Should I use something else?
that happened to me the first time as well. you will have to do the manual installation as described on the xrecovery thread.
Can i use something other than root explorer thats free or do I have to pay up?
you can use any file explorer that can access the system partition, i will try to find an acceptable one now...
EDIT: File Expert from the market is acceptable
Ok I got it installed, it looks like sh was already there but I overwrote it.
I tried that thing you said, pushing the back button when I see SE, but it didn't do anything.
Hmm it can be a bit trickey sometimes... just try again. Power off/hold down power button till it vibrates/as soon as Sony Ericsson appears on the screen repeatedly tap the back button (with the arrow) until you get to the xrecovery screen. Goodluck
Sent from my X10 TripNMiUI-IRIS using XDA Premium App
Still nothing.
Going to try downloading flashtool, says if I reinstall xrecovery from it I can boot directly into it.
That was my next suggestion... once your in flashtool, connect your phone then Ask Root Perms then press the xrecovery button and it should install it. Then you can press advanced>xrecovery>reboot into xrecovery or use the back button method.
Sent from my X10 TripNMiUI-IRIS using XDA Premium App
Got into it.
Guess all I need to do now is figure out which custom rom I wanna go in to.
I'll catch ya tomorrow in private. It's past 11pm now.
Thanks
No problem.

[Q] Flashed CM7 (with TWRP) No GSM and not detecting SIM Card

Good Morning everyone (or afternoon or night)!
Yesterday i flashed CM7 for the first time ever (Never flashed nothing before, except TWRP which i did it like 2 days ago.). Flashed it through TWRP Recovery and had a problem but solved it (froze on CM7 Logo). But this morning i noticed i had another problem, no GSM! When i flashed it and booted into system i found it wierd that it didnt ask me for my PIN but i was waaaaay to sleepy to think about it. But thats not all, as I found that i didnt had GSM, I also noticed that i didnt have my SIM contacts listed.
So if any of you could help me with this i would really appreciate it, as i really need my GSM working!
Any kind of help is welcome! Even if it means Flashing another ROM. Just really need my GSM working for now!
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354 <-- Where i downloaded CM7
- Before CM7 i had the 2.3.3 official update
PS: Yesterday when i had that freezing problem at CM7 Logo i flashed the patch mik mentioned on the FAQ's (see "Q: I flashed rom and GSM don't works. What's to do?"). It says that would fix that freezing problem and also would fix the no GSM problem but it didnt!
Thank you all in advance for all the help you might give!

You can restore something only if you backed it up. So if you made a backup of your old ROM go into recovery and hit restore. If not either flash a .zip ROM or use KDZ.
Good and bad news guys! i restored my 2.3.3 stock ROM and managed to get GSM again.(had to downgrade the baseband for 2.3.3 stock), that is the good thing!
The bad thing(not that bad i think i can manage to get it ) is that i wanted to flash a custom ROM but im not sure if i should do it because i thought CM7 was one of the best ROM's to flash and i was amazed by it at first! But that GSM thingy got me a bit mad and a bit insecure about doing it again. I wouldnt get mad and would have kept the ROM if i had solved the GSM problem but i didnt!
Any suggestions of what i should do? Any ROM's suggestions? (preferably with that awesomeee CRT off animation [yeah every one loves it!])
Ill wait for your replies! thank you very much for everything you done to help!

If u want to have CM7 by Mik you have to downgrade your baseband. Short way is using KDZ to flash old version of firmaware (v10a or similiar), then ROOT, install custom recovery and then flash CM7.
Well the only experience i have at rooting was by rooting my p500 with 2.3.3 official with superoneclick! I dont really know how to downgrade the firmware and root it on froyo! But if anyone could provide the way to do that i would really appreciate it!
Btw im sry if im asking too much, but i prefer the opinion and help of a more experienced person than just me finding something and boom! Bricked! But i also search even if i ask you guys something!
Thank you very much for your help!

Read the entire guide, step by step!!!... Anyway it is pretty straightforward
BTW, remember to first install lg drivers on your pc... connect the phone via usb and disable LGE Virtual Modem drivers from device manager on windows,, --> this is extremely important to succeed!
My phone is ok again TakamineSubasa! i just needed an opinion on which ROM should i flash! I've done that guide and it went well! (for the 2.3.3 version! i think i messed up and used P500-v20G-baseband for CM7 [wrong one] and should have used P500-v10E-baseband). But ofc a stable ROM that doesnt have GSM problems :s
btw i was really disappointed with CM7 (or i just dont know nothing about it!). I used it all day (even though i had GSM) and i had no messaging widget, no market, and other things i dont remenber! If i flash it again is there a way to have those apps and widgets like normal stock ROM has?
Thank you very much for the help!

Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Yep, as terratrix, you must flash gapps in order to get the market on your phone and install everything you want....
Concerning abt stock widgets, CM7 does not include any stock lg crap... although you can install them later if you want, there are posts on how to install stock **** again but dunno where they are ...
btw, --> here you have the lastest gapps available: http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
for your security, flash this zip with Zip Signature Verification on in TWRP, to ensure that everything its going to be perfect
Thank you very much guys! ill probably flash sonygen but not sure yet! Need some opinions! if anyone is willing to give some i would appreciate!

Thank you so much for every help you provided guys!

Awesome, just flashed it. Figures, I switched to MIUI yesterday from CM build #75 because it was incredibly unstable. Just about the time I get it set up, they release a stable version of CM. But hey I'm not complaining. Can't wait to give it a full day tomorrow. It's going to be a hard choice between the two though, MIUI is pretty clean.
reading on cm forum, seems they fixed the bt bug and its fully functionally, thats a very good news, since this prolly mean we are having also miui with bt working soon
FC heaps on the camera lol...but still great to finally have a stable on CM! =D reminds me of the good old HTC days...
Anyone know if TV out is working? This is probably the only thing stopping me from flashing.
read this today and will be waiting for any user feedbacks because this is going to be my very first CM install.
Going to have to say goodbye on my litening rom..
btw the new build also supports european gs2s right?

Bull****. Been using it since nightly #20 or so, and it has been stable since then.

If you already have root + clockwork recovery do a nandroid backup then install CM7.
If you don't like it you can always restore back
But no SD version that i know of sorry.

Pretty much standard procedure then.
(I wouldn't mind a way to dualboot though; that would be good)

Hey, that's indeed a great news !
Unfortunately, when I try to follow the official wiki, I got stuck when Heimdall is supposed to detect my phone in download mode, it says "Failed to detect compatible download-mode device." whereas my phone is in dl mode (the screen says it : "waiting for download"...
It got stuck when I try to flash the kernel given in the wiki. And honestly, I think I already flashed a kernel (because I'm root and there is the yellow /!\ on boot) but can't remember which one...
Help... ?
Not bull****. I started using it on build 75 and it crashed about 10 times a day. I thought it was due to superpower at first, but after completely uninstalling it I still had the issue. Also, the battery life was unusably bad. Maybe you had a better experience. That's great, but I experienced what I did. It was a nightly so I accepted it and tried something else. They released a stable version and now I'm back on it. Its working much better now. For the record I'm a huge fan of cyanogenmod, I have it running on my Matrix 4G as well.

So do we have a "Things that still don't work properly/at all" list? The OP in the main CM7 thread hasn't been updated (yet?).
Have we got full stable BT HSP/HFP/A2DP/AVRCP support?
MHL?
Stable WiFi?
An option to do a loopback mount of the /mnt/emmc mountpoint back to what used to be /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/ ? (Yeah, can always do it in a init.rc file)
Have they fixed the horrendous battery drain? (I last tried a couple of 50-something nightlies)

Try reinstalling the USB drivers that come with Heimdall.
i am not 100% sure if there are more device specific optimisations than in an normal nightly. Afaik the version changes of cyanogenmod are just for the general sourcecode, which is used to build roms for all supported devices.
So that means no tv-out, no bluetooth and no mhl for us. But thats just a matter of time. sooner or later bluetooth and FM will work; not so sure about mhl.

As to the question about battery life, it is significantly better. Run super power or juice defender and its especially decent. I keep a spare battery in reach anyways, but I usually don't have to put it in until 10 or 11pm if I keep tthe phone unplugged all day.
I don't use a2dp so I haven't tested it, and I prefer iheartradio so I haven't messed with the radio yet either. I keep popping back and forth between my MIUI and cywnogenmod backups, both are awesome in their own ways. Its hard to decide a permanent rom. But I'm leaning toward CM7.

[Q] How do I find the right ROM?

I'm trying to put a better ROM on my wife's GT-I9100M I really just want something which much better battery life and speed for her... mostly battery life though.
With so many different kernels out there, I'm a little wary of installing something now, in case it'll brick the phone. Does it matter what kernel these roms are based on?
Her baseband is I9100MUGKG2
and her kernel is 2.6.35.7-I9100ZSKG2-CL361136 [email protected] #6
and build number is
GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
I'm sorry if I'm posting a redundant thread, but I've spent a few hours on here, and Have still no idea what get.

then ur going to need to root the phone first :L
Then i wuld recommend speedmod kernel or siyahs kernel for the best battery life.

Then i wuld recommend speedmod kernel or siyahs kernel for the best battery life.
Im running Checksrom with speedmod kernel, and usually get a decent 2 days out of it

It's rooted, so that's done... I don't have to worry about bootloader or anything?
I'll grab what you have and see how she likes it, since it sounds like it's working for you.
Thanks!
Silvercloak
PS. I got the Speedmod kernel, but where do you get Checksrom?
Same here: CheckROM v4 and latest version of Speedmod kernel and the battery life is around 2 days. Smooth, no FC's, no issues!

No no worries about the bootloader
just install Checks rom, and it comes with a kitchenapp and u can change the kernel to speedmod from within that.
BUT
make sure that the i9100M is compatible with the rom!
PS
if ive helped dont hesitate in saying thanks
Edit: my bad, just googled I9100M and found out its indenticle to the 19100 except in the name xD
so u shuld be all gd to flash, but make sure u backup before just in case.

Ok this is weird... I installed it using CWM and rebooted... it looks exactly the same as before except under about phone it says Build # is CheckRom RevoHD v4... And where do I find this kitchenapp? I don't see it in the app tray. Gonna do a reinstall of the ROM, I'm not sure if it really... took.

yeh, its a stock samsung rom mate
and the kitchen should be in the app drawer under the name kitchenpro
Well. So far so good. She hasn't really noticed anything different. In spite of my backing things up with titanium she's still swearing at it and setting some of her stuff back up.
We'll see how it goes now for battery life. That'll be what she wants most. The regular stock had the phone dying within less than 10 hrs or standby.

Yeah I discovered I had to download the kitchen thing seperately. Ended up using CWM anyways. I guess we'll find out how good the battery thing works out tomorrow when we run it down from a full charge.

How do you find the right rom ? You try out a bunch of roms until you find one that works well for you. If you think you're going to have the same experience as someone else with a given rom or kernel you're mistaken.

Hey ! I have a soft brick Prob can you help me out.
Heres the Prob: Phone recovered from soft brick through Odin (FIRMWARE=KI3). Flashed ChainFire's kernel for KI3. Added CheckRom v4 and my own rom to the external SD card. Got into recovery, Wiped everything including BatteryStats booted Check ROM. It boots up but as soon as it's up error msgs come (Force Close ones).
Need help in fixing! PM if you are willing to tell me ! Plz Reply!
Why are you hijacking this thread ???

Not sure how you got 2 days battery on that ROM. My wife is only getting 12 hrs. . Might have to try something else.

+1 Pretty much nailed it. Won't know how good a rom is until you try it out yourself.
The problem is, not every rom for samsung GT 9100 seem to be the right ones... What I'm saying is, I can't just grab any ROM from this site and slap it in, it seems like they have to have the right kernel or combination of stuff to work. I don't want to soft brick it, so it would be nice to know exactly what would be safe for my phone.
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to these roms.

[Q] problems after ROM Revolution HD (Camera, Video & Tethering)

Hello all!
I just rooted my HTC Amaze 4G yesterday. I used "[ROM] Android Revolution HD™ 1.1.0" because I needed Arabic supported on my Android.
Anyways, now I have Arabic fully supported, which is great. the phone is fast, and it is now actually 4G instead of 3G, which is better i'm assuming.. (when I got the phone few days ago, it was showing me that it's running on 3g)
so all that is great, however, I have few problems that I can't pretend they don't exist!
-----------
first, the camera now isn't working probably, when you press the camera button, you see a scrambled picture, however when you take the photo, it looks normal... I'll upload the photo I took of it.
second, when I come to play a video, whether it's Youtube or any other vid, the picture is also scrambled and it's impossible to see.
third, the Tethering isn't working at all! it says "error" when I try to turn the feature on.
so far that's all the problems I discover since I installed the ROM. not sure if there is anymore!
I looked in the forums, and on google on how to fix them, but it doesn't seem that a lot of people having the same problems.
does anyone know how to fix these issues? and if they are not fixable, is there a way to uninstall the ROM but still keep the Arabic supported????
all I need is the Arabic to be supported, and of course no issues with the phone.
this is the thread I used:

this is the camera problem:

Make Sure you intall the ROM EXACTLY how it shows you, if you get errors, do it again
^^^^^ I would do that also. And if it doesn't work, download super wipe script (if you havent) and use it before flashing, I use it for all the roms I flash, even though its made for ARHD

I followed the thread word by word... I spent 7 hours yesterday rooting it!!!!!!
at first it didn't work, but I kept trying until everything went fine with no errors at all.
is there a way to get rid of it and just install another ROM? I also noticed that the phone now takes forever to boot up!!
Thanks for your reply BTW!

Use superwipe and flash the ROM again. Install the Arabic patch. You should be fine.

I did download super wipe script and ran it before flashing. just as a thread said...
I wonder if running the super wipe now would get rid of the Rev HD and allow me to install Stock ROM?!
I'm not that geek with Android as i'm new to it

Well I wouldn't go back to stock there are a lot of other roms to try, at this moment, I would HIGHLY reccomend you use Energy Rom, great theme, very stable, and great batt life

I will try that, and what is I want to flash another ROM, do I need to get rid of the rev hd or I can just flash another one after using the superwipe? and will that cause the Arabic patch to stop working?
so if I want to have a stock ROM and Arabic Patch, would they work together?
sorry for being too naive lol

OK! that's cool with me... I can play around with the ROMs, you know removing one and adding another, as long as they work with the Arabic Patch
if i want to go ahead and use Energy Rom, all I need to do is do superwipe, and flash the Rom, am I right?
thanks again co

ok, so I tried this again. used super wipe, flashed the ROM and installed the arabic patch.... no errors.... and still same problems.
I'm in the process of trying Energy ROM! let's see!
I flashed Energy ROM.. still exact same problems
I basically did superwipe. then flash. then arabic patch...
the arabic is supported, but again no fix for the other 3 problems :'(
Does it happen AFTER you flash the patch or no?

well, it seems to be after the patch, that's why i'm not installing the patch right now. just the rom... i'll see if that was the problem in a bit
it just finished flashing... still same issues.
No patch, no arabic supportd, and still same issues.
no idea what am i doing wrong!!!
is there anyway to undo the ROM. so just basically go back to the original system without losing the "root" on my device... this is my second day trying to get the device to be usefull!... I was an "Apple" person, and things there are much easier,... i'm starting to hate android!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I still don't get it, why doesn't google have Arabic supported on their devices... it's one of the most demanded feature that people ask for it in their phones!
Ah!!
Wallah ana ma b3rif lol. They should add it in.
You can install a prerooted ROM or go back to stock and install root.
