Has anyone does this yet? Does it take a long time? Doing it on the Epic it took 2 seconds. So I just wanted to check. Thanks.
Edit.
Nevermind, it worked, just takes a few minutes. I was gonna wait, but said screw it. Lol. I'm wiping it to try and install homebase 1.7B. Fingers crossed I can make this work. Lol.
through setting>privacy>factory data reset? takes a few minutes
Nah. I'm in the CWM recovery wiping everything. Gonna see if I can't get this ROM to boot.
Haven't done one yet I would imagine it wouldn't take very long though
Well that didn't work. Lol. Do restores take a while?

Anyone having an issue with their TB shutting off or reboting? Mine in the middle of a youtube video. My wife had her's reboot when it was just sitting there. No new apps, task killer, nothing. Is it just buggy cuz it's new?

Mine never did this. My phone did freeze two and all haptic feedback was gone but I pulled the battery and changed the rom. Never had a problem after that.

We are running stock.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
ive never had that happen, but i have had the screen trip out, like its spasing and u cnt use it at all, gotta put it to sleep then unlock it and it works fine again..
is it stock? no root and/or roms?
yes I had those same problems, so I was still within the 14 days return poilcy and I took mine back. So get this I had this superman who didnt wanna exchange my phone. Trying to do a reset telling me that android phone reset at times by them selves. I told him that I already spoke to Verizon and they said I could exchange my phone no questions asked and I wasnt leaving till he did so. So take off ur superman custome and exchange my Phone.
Mine did this when I was running unrooted on stock firmware . No problems since rooting and using other roms though.

Shut-off, reboot then Shut-off again...
Mine did this last nite/this AM? When I went to power on it got to the Thunderbolt splash and shut down again...had to plug it in even thought the bateery was at 87%!
Think I will go try the Root and custom ROM route..
Yeah I'm thinking buggy software. Guess I'll wait and see if it does it again.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
I've had it happen a couple times in the last few days.
Stock rom, unrooted
One of the times i was around %58 on battery and after the reset it was at %13
I got the extended battery....still had plenty of juice. I am beginning to think the issue is O.S. related. Seems to hang sometimes when I unlock it or start an app. Kinda like it is stalled for a second or so. Watched well over an hour of youtube today and it didn't shut off like last night.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Yeah, just had this problem last night while using Pulse. It didn't fully rebooted, just went to the white HTC screen and back..... No Thunderbolt booting animation... First time ever. Pulse has crashed on me a couple times too, so I'm gonna blame it for now.

LOL you tell em!
I say we yell a verizon! Make em get rid of the security on the device. I have a feeling that may be a part of it. This is the first android htc device I've had do something weird. We have had 8 total in our home and none were ever this quirky.

Mine rebooted twice this morning after installing the new Google Maps update. I powered it down for a few minutes, then restarted, and it's been fine since.
Crap! I forgot about that update! That may be it. I did that update just the same day. Gotta ask the wife when I get home and see if she updated her's when she had the issue.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Well now having a look at running apps, I see what the issue is. It loads all this crap that your not using! It's in the background waiting. Why? I watched as it pulled up apps that I never opened. This it why verizon reps keep telling people to use a task killer. The os is not being utilized properly at all on this phone.

i H.A.T.E. when they do this. they did the same thing with my Galaxy Tab when i first bought it
I'm having the same issue - phone either turns itself off or reboots itself randomly. I reboot my phone 3-4 times a day swapping out batteries. I'm running stock. Didn't want to have to root, but if people who are rooted and running a custom ROM aren't having this problem, I may have to go that route.
Get system panel from the market and check out all the crap that's sitting in the background. It's a wonder the phone runs at all.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
My system partition and data partition are roughly the same size, but when I do a nandroid backup from TWRP 1.0.3 the data partition takes upwards of 15-20 min when the system takes less than 3.
It gets to one spot where it hangs forever, and it's something about contacts. (I don't remember exactly what it says but it's something like com.providers. blah blah blah, I can get it exactly if you need me to.
My phone shows I have 668 contacts on my Google account (how the hell that is, I have no idea... I don't even know that many people!) is that just too many?
Thanks in advance.

Are you saying you have the same problem? Or no?
From day 1, TWRP has taken me 15-20. Hasn't failed me yet, so I just lay it down and let it do it's thing. What cracks me up is after like 10 mins, it'll say "backup took 191 secs" or something way off like that. But like I said, it hasn't failed me yet.

Those contacts could be email only contacts. I had to sort my gmail acct out.

I just slimmed down my Google contacts down to 200ish and it still took 2240 seconds which is 37 minutes. I took pics that ill upload tomorrow.
Just looking at my recovery log and I've got thousands of this over and over, /data/com.android.providers.contacts/files/thu.
What's that?

I thought it took longer because it compresses it? And shouldn't this be posted in the thread for twrp?

how large are you guys' nandroid files? Mine come to almost 3gbs... I dont remember them ever being this large with my OG evo.
so today i got one of those crazy auto reboots on my phone. it turned off, i turned it back on, unlocked my phone, and it turned back off....repeated this process for about 10 times. did a few battery pulls, and nothing.
now my phone doesnt get passed the HTC screen. spent over 4 hours on trying to fix it and nothings working. flashed EVERY rom available for the phone along with different kernel combinations. still nothing. i am a very patient person but COME ON! this is getting ridiculous. im a pretty "important" person, if you will. and i know i have tons of calls and texts i cant get back to that are probably important.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know asap.
HTC ville here i come
My phones been running hot as of today..I hope it doesn't end up like yours. Gonna go stock when I get back home. Gonna even wipe the phone internal memory just to see if there mite be something causing it to suck.

Which recovery did you have installed?
This can actually get closed now
I charged the battery all the way then took the battery out. Let it sit for a few hours then wiped, reflashed another Rom and it went through smoothly
VERY weird.

Just curious, since someone asked over in Q&A if S-On devices will still be supported, how many people are staying or not.
to me, the whole physically taking wires and jumping those pins is what turns me off to it.
i remember s-offing my inc, and just running that one click program...meh, if something like that comes along, i'll do it..but as for right now, i'm a bit weary of it
Yep, its a super easy, painless process. I have done it on 2 Rezounds so far, took me 2 tries on the first and I got it on the first on the second.
Yes, wasn't easy at first, just took patience & making sure the tiny pin connection actually got touched.
Do you still need to do the HTC dev unlock to get s off?

You have to be unlocked and rooted to do it, then once you s-off it will switch the bootloader back to locked.
Got it done. It wasn't nearly as hard as it was made out to be.
Did it Saturday night... Took me more time to back up my internal memory then anything. I had a spare SD card also.
Not yet.... waiting for a free block of time... perhaps this weekend
yup - took all of like 5 minutes - I used a paperclip wrapped with some electrical tape

Did the same thing...never had to leave my computer desk! Now I have a prison shank and nothing to do with it.
I felt compelled to be free. I did s-off on both my phones. It feels great to nandroid back and forth now.

Yeah, it's pretty generous to call it circuitry in this instance! I mean, it is, technically you're completing a circuit.
Anyway, 90% uptake is pretty solid!
Okay so I ran my battery all the way down til it shut down and I charged it for a half hour and turned it on and it had no service but the wifi connected. Then after less than a minute the screen goes blank and it does it over again.
I did a battery pull, reseated the sim and sd cards but same thing. Now I figured out it will stay on when the back cover is off As soon as I put the cover on it shuts off again.
Any ideas??
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Look over the back of the phone and inside the cover for anything that looks abnormal. I can't imagine how simply putting the backplate on causes it to shut off unless something grounds out. The only thing on the backplate are the extensions for the antennas. If you find nothing, Try a factory reset from bootloader. This will wipe your internal sd also so backup everything. If that doesn't work, grab the latest gb ota from the dev section and try reflashing that.
