[Q] 7500 roms on 7510 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if it possible to get 7500 roms on 7510 Galaxy Tab?
what are the difference between them except the 3G support the 7510 has?

Think you answered your own question somewhat...they work but can be erratic as the 7500 firmware installed on a 7510 is looking for hardware that is not present (3G components and SIM card)...biggest problems tend to be with connectivity (somewhat important) and lots of problems with microsoft exchange and other message apps...apart from that they do run OK...some people have been lucky, some not...
What do you want to install on your 7510?

I have the 7500 model
I was wondering if you can disable the 3G/other services during boot via some sort of init file and have a unified rom which can match both.
other than that, I feel that the my current rom which is latest stock which was released in the US (with the TW update) improved some overall performance but still it is laggy.
I was wondering if other roms are better?
It would be great if we could have one unified latest rom for both 7500 and 7510

It entails far too much work to "unify" roms for two different hardware platforms and gives far too many problems
Agreed that TW is laggy but seems a shame that you want to get rid of 3G functionality to load 7510 roms into your 7500
If you really feel you must then these are fabulous roms for 7510 that I have tried which should work no problem on your tab:
Bindroid (loaded in one of my IO tabs) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1283555 best and smoothest so far for me
Overcome (loaded in another IO tab) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275751 also very smooth
Paris (written by Task650 and PhantomHacker - these guys are very very good but I haven't tried the rom as they don't seem, as yet, to have settled on a final direction - started out with overclocking, now removed it, still tweaking, so I'm waiting for things to settle down a bit as I'm happy with Bindroid and Overcome at the mo http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284355
The only rom that offers two downloadable versions, one for 7500 and one for 7510, is Overcome so maybe you should start with that as then you can at least try to get away from stock rom and see the improvements whilst still retaining your tabs full 3G capacities..
Let us know how you go

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A

This is true. However, deep inside I really wish to ask that as I tried so many and so hard to decide.
Here's a quick breakdown
Cognition
- smooth
- why I dislike: The feel of the UI (self preference)
Litening 4.1
- GREAT
- really fast in speed
- why I dislike: been too long see-ing blue colour
VillianROM
- GREAT
- smooth UI, fun to play, many tweaks according to your liking
- why I dislike: seeing too much green robot is boring (if you get what I mean)
Exynos Extreme
- current favourite
- very smooth, like the part where the author actually remove unwanted apps for us
- downside: 3.4 is a little buggy (can't copy and paste), 3.3 is smooth and GREAT
Generally, Litening 4.1 give good battery life. Exynos too but I am using Exynos with SpeedMOD so a little different here.
There you go

It's a fair question but prbably should have asked which ROM people prefer. I hate it when people get flamed for asking which ROM people like best. Some of us don't have the time to download every ROM out there and just want to hear others' opinions..
Keep the opinions coming - I want to be tempted away from stock!
Exynos. best ive used so far

I got to agree. Some reason, it felt unique compared to Litening and the rest. Not sure why though.
The best ROM is subjective and will probably change within a week of this question been asked.

[[QnA] Yank555.lu Kernels [Official][Troubleshooting][Sharing][OneStop JB/AOSP]

Hi guys..
Introduction to this thread and why we actually needed it.
Since we have a great dev working for us non stop on kernels I actually noticed that it was difficult for yank himself to run across both the thread.
I felt that we can have a common thread for QnA’s & troubleshooting and of course describing the aroma settings and all other features of our Yank555.lu kernels ?
So this is how it goes here are the links to
Yank’s respective threads :
Yanks JB Samsung Awesomeness here
Yanks Cm/AOSP/AOKP Awesomness
The Aroma Settings are explained:
A.S.E. for Samsung ROMsA.S.E. for AOSP, CM, AOKP ROMs
The changelogs to respective kernels :
Changelogs for Samsung ROMs
Changelogs for AOSP, CM, AOKP ROMs
PS-I have taken permission from Yank555.lu and he knows wat i am doing
Directions
What to do & How to do it ... And what kind of help is to be expected here.
This is how we would like you to report your problem
Please indicate :
1---the Rom you are using
2---the configuration you have chosen in aroma
3---simplest and as to the point explanation possible of the problem you are facing !
And now comes the point of sharing !
Since we all will be using kernels with different settings and most of us will be satisfied some would not be some would be unsatisfied to a very large extent (I wish no one feels this way )
So share with us :
1---the settings that u have done or chosen in aroma
2---your results (free ram, battery life, etc.)
But yes please keep in mind we wont believe anything until we have seen it, so Screenshots should be added whenever possible !!!

Nope and nope, because :
UV / ABB
I am convinced that UV brings close to nothing in battery life (for having tested this deeply on my Sensation and no difference measurable at -100mV which is quite more than many devices can take), hence I don't have it in my kernels and do not plan to add it as all it really will bring is people complaining about the kernel being unstable because they just overdid themselves with too much UV.
As for ABB, all I really believe this is good for is to allow for slightly more stability at high OC, that's nothing that I have in my kernels (1.6GHz is max) and I do not plan to go any higher anyway. Also, same applies for ABB, people don't really understand what it is and how it works, and ramdomly will play with it and then complain about the kernel being unstable.
So for my time's sake, I really don't need a thread filled with such posts, and since the threads are in my forum, I don't care either to have my thread look popular by that many kinds of posts either (just being sarcastic here)
Also, my highest goal is stability, and with decend battery, and I can't say my phone is unstable in any way, and I intend to keep it this way, and battery is pretty fine as well, and it's pretty snappy as well, so in fact I'm pretty happy with it as it is for now.
mdnie
I have no need for it, and I do not intend to include it. mdnie scenarios available in ROMs are good enough for me, AMOLED screens are anyway not good enough colorwise to be really well calibrated and I do not intend to do any kind of desktop publishing on my S3 either.
The good thing is, though, there are a few kernels to choose from the offer both by now

Thanks for the extensive explanation, ill try your kernel out and see what it brings. About other kernels that support it, its so that im a bit limited by it as i have an i9305 and not an i9300 (had one before, but came to changing it for the i9305), so there are practically no non-cm/replacement kernels for aosp roms (apart from yours) and what it takes for samsung based roms, all of those custom ones for the i9305 are still "bloated" (thers none like anonorom for the i9300), so i prefer not to use them =/
again, thanks for your time and work.

Most recent ROM with working HDMI?

This may be borderline the wrong place to post this, but it does concern custom ROM's, so technically it would be considered development I do believe. If not I'm truly sorry and move it to the correct section please. Anyway, my question is just like the title states. I've dug around a lot and haven't really found the answer. I promise I wasn't lazy and just made a new thread without researching . I want to know if anyone knows of anything like a CM10, CM11, any CM based ROM, or basically anything other than the 4.1.2 stock based ROM's with working HDMI. It is a must for me. You can go to the CM site and others, but it doesn't really say anything about it, being that most ROM's aren't all out device specific anymore, and many devices do not offer HDMI because of hardware anyway. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
NO WAY !This is only available on stock ROMs because the related stuffs are close-sourced.

hes absolutely right. roms that are "Stock based", Jellybean 4.1.2 will possibly have the hdmi functionality. Artmod is one

I've run this ROM and it's okay. I've pretty much run everything imaginable on six different devices. I was just hoping that someone knew of something like a pure AOSP based or Cyanogen based ROM with working HDMI. I've looked everywhere and tried to add it to ROM's and it just won't work. It has something to do with the stock 4.1.2 firmware and the drivers. So we'll probably never see that function in anything like a 4.4+ ROM unless we get an official update (WHICH WILL NEVER HAPPEN) I decided to give up and I'll just swap to stock in Safestrap when I need HDMI capability. Right now I'm in the process of cooking up a nice little custom 4.4.2 pure AOSP based ROM. It will feature NOVA Launcher and the most dynamic launcher made (it's a secret) as home options. I'm mainly focusing on smoothness, responsiveness, and battery life.

OOOH MY MY Lol! I'm very intrigued on this. I will definitely load the kernel up on a 4.4 build and see how it works out. If it works I will either put it in my build or link it to my OP when I post my ROM. Regardless lucize and dtrail1 will have full recognition and credit for the kernel and working HDMI. Man, if this works my RAZR will be a beast. I got really lucky and scored a MAXX on ebay for $51 with only the screen broken. It took a total of about 20 minutes to convert mine to the MAXX last night. As far as I can tell I'm saving around 11 to 13 percent more battery per hour with fairly heavy use. I have a couple of questions. Do you guys like the Xperia's Album (photo gallery) and Walkman music player with ACID Audio? All features work in the builds I have. And which gapps do you prefer? I'm trying to figure out which ones to recommend. I pretty much always go with Slim. Okay enough rambling. It's time to test.

for hdmi you should thank stargo and me , because my device behaved and stargo's didn't and he fixed for him too and now should work for every device, I was lucky that my device was different and I could find out the way to make it work.

Alright, I will definitely give thanks to all where thanks is due. If this works out then our little RAZR's will at least be able to contend with any device when it comes to performance and the all out coolness factor. Fully functioning HDMI is pretty much all it was missing

I will definitely report back and give detailed info on what I find. Thank you for your hard work on this.

Indeed, HDMI is something that even the newest flagships don't have..
As for Xperia Album and Walkman, not a big fan of Albums, but Walkman, Hell Yeah.!!! I've been trying to make it work for Razr since the day I bought it. Would love it on the device.

The problem with making it work on the RAZR is the drivers. Even if you get a hold of a flashable Walkman .zip, most of the time it will not work correctly, no matter which version you get. It will usually also break any other music player you have installed. When you play a song you only get a split second of sound. The song will continue to play but with no sound. But never fear, it functions 100% in my build. Everyone can thank Nx Biotic for telling me where to look for the fix to this issue. Unfortunately I'm delayed on finishing the ROM for a short time. My little girl decided my screen and LCD looks better completely shattered Lol. At least I have the trusty "absolutely sucks compared to the RAZR" Droid Charge. It does have HDMI though. Parts are on the way for the RAZR and I will continue testing shortly. Keep an eye out.
So, did anyone get HDMI working with a custom ROM? AFAIK only the "official" ROM's work, but as they are so old, not so much fun. Shame we can't get the best of both worlds. Anyone know someone from Moto who can find the source code for this "secret" HDMI stuff, or has anyone the knowledge to decompile it from an official ROM?

This is a minimalist ui for sure. I'll try it out for a bit and get back.
Edit: Good job. AOSP keyboard needs gesture fixed (this is common).

the menu structure does take some getting used to.
other than that, so far so good.
good job.
I have to say something because im afraid this post will be overlooked. This is without a doubt the best ROM ported/developed for the i717. Believe me I've tried them all. I am coming from my heavily modded liquid smooth kk, to a plain vanilla install of this, and the difference is like night and day. The OP has really outdone himself with choosing this ROM for the i717. I haven't seen performance like this from a vanilla install since cm9 or blackstar x. Perfect up-to-date daily driver for anyone, system ui FC's every once in awhile nothing really aggrevating, and the ROM itself is just great. Notifications only take the space they need to display just like in lp. The launcher has no app drawer, easily fixable for someone who prefers one. Kudos to the OP

Best Custom ROM for Le Max 2 X829?

So I've ordered my my first Android phone, the Le Max 2 X829 and while I wait for it to arrive I am thinking about what Custom ROM to install.
I'm wanting something fairly stable for daily use and that won't drain my battery any faster.
At the moment I thinking of using Lineage OS.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
Again same question, just read the forum.
Best of luck to you, for a 1st android phone you sure picked a rough phone to learn the fun of customization..
Well I do think that the best rom so far for customization is resurrection remix which has a lot of options and it's really stable, but If you like EUI you can check other roms
Mokee :victory:
I join the question, what would be the best rom currently available? There are so many ...
Most seem to have basic funcionalitys missing , like "camera not working" , which a consider unacceptable.
Maybe question should be different, which ROM has everything (or the most) working in an acceptable manner?
Thanks

Hello,
I can not install the latest Chinese version (23s). I went through the different threads and tried to install custom ROMS. Every time, the same problems: no way to use the Gapps without it crashing, or the phone restarts. If the stock allows me a normal use of the phone, would you have a method with clear steps to install it?

Really? Which one , indian? Chinese? American?
Why the effort in making custom roms if they are not better then original ones?!

Why not try it and see. Everything works. Be nice to have more screen on time than 4.5hrs but otherwise it's fine. No crashes or re boots. Camera is fine etc.
I'm on 23s stock rom. I think its the most stable rom. Very happy with it
All custom ROMs for Max2 are either buggy, laggy, and have some functions missing or completely untrustworthy.
I mean you must be totally crazy to the point of being an utter idiot to run something prepared by God knows whom and trust your phone with your personal data. You may as well publish all your passwords right here in this forum. I don't understand this obsession with closed source ROMs.
I bought this phone and it's been lying switched off for the past two weeks because I don't know what to run. No options whatsoever.
The official Chinese ROM has tons of stuff I don't want to run and their launcher totally sucks (I'm a Pure Android (read Nexus/Pixel) devotee).

Why did you buy it then? What did you expect? Did you not read up on here before buying?
You should buy a pixel or oneplus instead. I run Chinese rom with nova launcher and its good enough for daily use for sure. I really want a oneplus 3t but I am too tight at the moment to bring myself to pay 3 times as much for similar spec but I know the software experience will be loads better.
One thing I would wish for is better battery life but guess it's the immense screen killing it.

A dirt cheap SD820 device with excellent specs.
No, unfortunately I didn't read up on the ROMs situation with this phone. I mean I visited these forums and I saw many ROMs available and people were telling that a fingerprint scanner didn't work (which I don't care at all because I will never use it since I'm actually a security person). I didn't realize this phone camera barely functions with custom ROMs, I didn't realize for instance that LineageOS (which I thought I would be using) was so laggy and its maintainers didn't care.

I guess you don't trust Windows, iOS as they are all closed or you just don't trust chinese rom? And also a little strange you trust custom rom made by someone from internet. Then why buy a chinese phone? What if they put something in the chip to get your info?

Microsoft and other companies (including LeEco) have a reputation to keep.
ROM developers don't even have real names. Your perception of the world is clearly skewed.
And no, I don't trust Windows 10, while I fully trust any Windows that came before it (including Windows 95). Oh, btw, there were Windows before 95, but you're probably not aware of them.

It's 23s Chinese rom.
If you have updater app no need for twrp just rename it update.zip and install from updater.
If you need twrp use this thread to install it - https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/protocol-backup-stock-rom-flash-stock-t3517151
