Didn't see a retro gaming (emulator) specific thread for the mopho and figured I'd start one
so how many people are using emulators? Any issues?
I got fpse, snes9x ex, and sixaxis running on mine
Haven't played around with the psx much, but did notice it's a bit laggy on some games
Also get a reboot issue sometimes when I leave the sixaxis connected and try to do something else such as web browsing
I use n64oid and gameboid all the time. Gameboid runs flawlessly. N64oid runs good too but it can be a little laggy and/or buggy. Still very playable tho, especially enjoyable over hdmi mirroring. I don't have any controllers hooked up so I don't really know how well that works.
The ps3 remote works well for me, tested it out on some psx fighting games like dark stalkers, no lag and you can do all the special moves
Been playing snes rpgs for the past month, not really the best thing for testing limits
I have all the emulators but only messed around with n64oid. Runs pretty smooth on most roms. Even Zelda, which was unplayable on my ogEvo, was smooth.

This does look pretty cool.
It is a work in progress, and there is much work to do to improve the speed of the games from what I have read.
I don't think sound is functional yet either, but it seems like the app is updated fairly frequently, so sound could come in a matter of days or weeks I would imagine.
I'm going to give it a try later tonight and I will report back...
Tiger Labs has a free NDS emulator out which, while not updated often, is still a better application than this $10 one.
That will probably change a month or two from now, but I think he has a lot of balls to charge $10 for an app that offers much less than the free competition.
You should also know that there has been work done on a Sega Saturn and Dreamcast Emulator.
And i'm really hoping for a NDS emulator soon, as it would make it a lot easier to play Phoenix Wright or Professor Layton games at work ;p.
So I just played with it a bit. I'm running CM7 Stable with the 4/12 kernel. Interactive Governor, 1000mhz - Min/ 1100mhz - Max.
And it's choppy... Pokemon SS seemed to be semi-playable and Dragonball Kai - Butoden loaded fine, but was very slow. I haven't had a chance to try Phoenix wright or any of the Layton games just yet, so i'll update when I get a chance on those.
Also going to grab the Tiger Demo NDS Emulator and compare.
Ive tried Both Tigernds and nds4droid, while tiger ran it only ran in a small window, not idea for the nook colors big screen, and nds4droid was pretty slow but ran, but i could only get it to run with the games they listed on the download, other than those games i don't think they will run any others. It was said to be just a proof of concept though so it should be changing as development progresses with it. Tiger just didn't measure up for me.
Hi, I want to play old SNES games on my Optimus One but all the emulators i tried are slow/laggy, the fastest was SuperGNES lite, But it's still a bit slow and lags a bit, How can i get SNES Roms to run properly on my Phone?
Will emulators run faster if i install this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870640
or this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881045
Will the emulators run better if i install a custom ROM that has been optimized for performance like Prime v2 or something? Or should i overclock my phone?(not sure what that means but i heard it makes the phone faster)
I really want to play SNES games on my phone, If anyone knows how to get them to work properly on this phone please let me know.
I've played Fruit Ninja THD, Modern Combat 3 and Grand Theft Auto 3 but the framerate is really poor. Id say itsmonly running at 15-20 FPS. Why is this? I love games and this tablet but if this is the case then I'll be quite disappointed.
(Rooted and Running the Galaxy Task ROM, btw)
same here! The framerate is very poor when playing gta 3
I haven't experienced any problems yet, played GTAIII & Fruit Ninja THD (and many more), perfectly smooth... You could try to reflash your rom, or maybe overclock..
ps running Galaxy Task 10

Other games seem perfectly fine actually, just the heavy games seem to have trouble running. It's a shame, I was looking forward to playing GTA3 with my PS3 controller at at least 25 FPS but oh well
Perhaps background processes push CPU usage over the edge for you. I don't have GTA 3 but fruit ninja is flawless on my tab.
reflash...should help. i'm on stock and both games work at maybe 40-50 FPS? anyway its really smooth. (i'm on stock btw)

Reflashed, fruit Ninja is fine now but GTA 3... Still pretty laggy, especially if rain falls. I already removes the audio folder so it runs flawlessly with no audio and while its not raining, but still I damn well miss audio. If I knew how to modify the gta3.set I'd just disable rain, lights, shadows, draw distance, etc... I'm more concerned with performance that graphics.
Just curious if anyone has been able to get N64oid playable on their Touchpad.
I'm running CM9 nightlies, perhaps I have some settings not set properly.
I also have chainfire which may or may not help. But it would be a riot if I could get this working.
Yes, I use n64oid on the Touchpad with not problems. It works great and has never malfunctioned. Just search and download off the internet. My favorite website to get roms it MOD EDIT (NO WAREZ LINKS ALLOWED) . If you need any other help just ask me because it works great for me.
Interesting, I have several ROMs, maybe they are just bad ones.
Would you be able to point me a download of a Rom that works smoothly for you?
Thanks!
Also, which ROM are you running on your TouchPad?
We can't give you any links to ROMs.
Just google them.
Try the basics, Mario 64, Mario Kart, etc.
I've played Majora's Mask, and it runs pretty smooth for an emulator. I overclocked it to 1500mhz and it runs smoothly. That's a higher than average n64 game, I think.
I'd invest in a wiimote/classic controller for heavy gaming if that's what you're into. Onscreen controls are often hard for n64 games.
I'm running the latest official nightly of CM9 (3/29)

I keep getting major slowdowns at 2 frames skipped but incredibly chopping gameplay at 3+ in majora's mask using 3/29 office dial @ 1.5ghz. Basically unplayable. Ocarina works well enough, though.
Sent from my HP TouchPad using Tapatalk 2 Beta-4
Tried a few on Gingerbread 3.5, video ran fine, sound a bit choppy, certainly playable though, used a wiimote.
So i was trying out the NDS emulator nds4droid on my note 2, and tried Zelda Spirit Tracks on it. Of course gameplay was bad and so most of the game but then i wondered if there were other any playable games that could be loaded on the emulator with the Note 2.
What about a list of games that work correctly?
Ill start with my two cents
##NOT WORKING##
-Zelda Spirit Tracks (horrible frame rate,SLOW, bad sound)
You test juste this game ? ^^

Well, you'll be amazed to see that a lot of games are working. But only some of them are fast enough to be really played.
Here is what I've tried so far
-Mario Kart DS=>everything working, but definitly too slow to be really playable (maybe 24 fps?)
-Harvest Moon=> 2D game so not too slow, playable
-New super Mario=>everything working, but definitly too slow to be really playable (maybe 24 fps?)
-Nintendogs=>everything working, but definitly too slow to be really playable (maybe 30 fps?)
-Mario&Luigi partners in time=> fully playable, 60fps can be reached just swap the screens to play comfortably. Cheat codes working
-Dr Kawashima's Brain Training=> good speed, but using the S-pen for some of the trainings remains too slow + some gfx glitches
-Cocoto Racer=>=>everything working, but definitly too slow to be really playable (maybe 24 fps?)
-Simpsons game=> fully playable at full speed (60fps can be reached). Sadly the Simpsons' voices are laggy but that's not a real problem
-Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story: strange, it's really way slower than Partners in time, so for me, not really playable
I'm about half wat at Mario&Luigi partners in time now
I'm sure this is common knowledge, but Pokemon Black/White and Black2/White2 run while patched, but run incredibly slow as well. I think the highest in-game framerate i got was 21fps. I haven't tried, but I've heard that the Pokemon Platinum and below games work well enough to play.
Spirit Tracks does run quite choppy, however I will argue that it is playable with a moderate amount of frame-skip.
I got through the first dungeon before I got distracted by something else.
Im happy to report that Okamiden works like a charm!
