Eh, I'll stick to my GSII

Says Super AMOLED... If that's the case, then the SGS II is much better.

More than likely mono. I don't understand why, in 2011 are HTC Smartphones not utilizing stereo speakers. My LG MM-535 back in 2005 did it and my Samsung MM-A920 in 2006 did it, what in the hell is going on here?
Im disappointed too. no stereo speakers, no gorilla glass no rec in 1080p. Im not sure about this phone

Alright, it's 1080p playback. Still has gorilla glass though.
I believe the processor is capable of recording in 1080p. It is mentioned that it is capable of encoding and decoding 1080p video. So this should be fixed through a firmware update.

The processor is a MSM8660, in the specifications sheets, it is mentioned that it is able to decode and encode video up to 1080P. Now megapixels should not matter (I believe 5 is more than adequate) when it comes to shooting high definiton footage. I think it comes down to whether the sensor is capable of doing so. Now my expertise doesnt lie in photography, so if anyone does know if it comes down to the sensor and the lenses, please inform us so. I do know that the processor is capable of doing so.

try quadcore processors and HD display screen...Siri is only available on apple as they have bought the company that created it.
It'll likely be at least a 1.2ghz quadcore running ICS Android 4.x - there's no way they'd make the specs any lower than the Galaxy Nexus, so use that as a suggestion for minimum specs. There's good odds it (the Nexus) will be officially announced tomorrow so you'll see all the info then.
The rumored Nexus specs are:
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
9mm thick
4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
1GB of RAM
32GB of built-in storage
5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
1080p HD video capture support
LTE/HSPA depending on carrier
Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
NFC
1,750 mAh battery

Which custom rom will be best for it? Considering there won't be any until after it's released, how would anyone know?
If you want Siri then download Speaktoit.
The SGS3 is months away yet anyway, waste of time speculating at this stage.

Not here. I see a lot of WP7 cues that I like. If WP7 had the same apps android had the decision to get the SGS II would have been harder for me. Seems like a bigger upgrade than any other since 2.1.
Wasn't looking as the device anyway as its fairly certain to be a Verizon exclusive.
All in all, excited and anxious for the months ahead.
Plus, now we all know what features will be in iOS 6!

Best thing out of the announcement is hardware optimization for dual core phones on ICS. This will definitely put us at an advantage over iOS 5 and even Windows Phone 7. I also liked Android Beam. Should there be a Photon sequel?

In my opinion, why not? The phone was a success last year, why not have a successor? If the Photon Q manages to be real, my desired specs are:
4.3" inch HD display
1.2 GHz dual core Tegra 3 processor
Android 4
8MP cam, 4MP front face both with 1080p video capture.
1GB ram. 1GB rom.
The same design as OG, but sleeker with much better battery life.
What would you want it to have?

720p screen res(4.3inch or better)
1080p video
1.5-2gig of ram
removable battery of higher capacity
quad core(preferably Tegra3)
world phone
UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER-by far make or break for whether or not i get another Moto with the launch of LTE coming soon for Sprint

This plus ICS. I think 1GB RAM is enough but more couldn't hurt.
I use the us cellular version, the electrify, just a rebadged photon and love it. An electrify II could go slightly larger screen, quad core processor, small bump to 1.5GB or better2gb! Thinner, sleeker body, maybe the same battery as Droid razr maxx... Anytime a more powerful battery could be applied. Who could complain!? And ICS or jellybean installed and no motoblur ui.... Just straight up Android so no rooting would even be required

Same here - next one needs to be unlocked since we cannot trust their sales words. If it's not unlocked OOB, then it stays ITB (In The Box) in the Sprint Store.

Yep
The only good thing I can say about my Photon is it has a good radio. For everything else, it sucks. The screen sensitivity for gaming blows, the phone is laggy as hell.. sometimes Ill push something on the screen and it may take 3-8 seconds to recognize I pushed anything.
Ive tried tuning it with various methods and its de-blurred now which helped A LITTLE. I tried V6 Supercharger, Rom Toolbox, overclocked the processor, etc... it still sucks.
I almost bailed on Sprint and went to Verizon when they were winding down their unlimited data. I wish I had. I stayed for the Epic 4G Touch and what a disappointment that turned out to be.
There's something wrong with your phone. I had a photon that the screen was like that, I had it replaced and the new one is great.
Sent from my CM9'd Motorola Photon using Tapatalk
I think they should. Yeah the MoPho has it's "quirks", but it is still a decent device. Big Red has had how many "Razr's"? An "updated" Photon, done properly, could be a good thing.

I call bull**** on 1080p screen. There is no way the screen will be that resolution unless they plan on selling the phone at $750.
Trewyy
"the areas where you got EDGE only are on the 1900 band, so in fact you should still see coverage in those areas, but instead will now be 3G or at least it will once they start transitioning the spectrum over!"
can anyone confirm this to be true? because if it is tha nthat means tmobile's 3g coverage will double in size
Huge step up? Id say marginal at best. Im not huge on the amaze, but please tell me where the amaze lags in terms of speed. If there was 2gb ram it may be worthy of an upgrade but no thanks. I hope they have their wifi issues sorted out by the time its released, lol
Remember no radio code for development on HTC.

gotta say i agree with Andy here. not that huge of a step-up. and also on the 1080p screen...is that even necessary on anything smaller than 7"?
