Busybox - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi I have a problem installing newer version of busybox..now I have 1 15 3 and installed on system/xbin and when I install newr version my phone freezes on boot logo..can someone tell me why this happens and how I can instal newer version of busybox???
Sent from my U20i using XDA App

Are you using a custom ROM? Custom ROMs for the X10 mini & mini pro use a chargemon shell script which is run using "busybox sh". I have seen some busybox versions around compiled without "sh". Maybe that is the problem. Try to call "busybox sh" in any terminal in your phone after updating busybox and before rebooting.

try stericson's app: https://market.android.com/details?id=stericson.busybox

which rom you've installed via seus?
btw, MiN is a stock rom with cwm, so you don't have to follow seus+root+cwm route
as i wrote before, stericson's application does the job. if you don't like the idea of installation an app for it, just install it once then rip busybox as the newest appropriate version and keep it for future.
cheers

We are trying to get the new busybox to work on Flame.E v0.2 but it keeps bricking the device. I have tried stericsons and it did not work. Phone bricked.
Cheers,

btw, i haven't realized that you have x10 mini pro, sorry. if you need a rom like MiN somehow, take a look to pfonck's clean rom.

yeah i already did lol, but for me its not so bad coz i made a backup of my stock with root and cwm and flash that to save me time. then i get to start from scratch from my vendors original fw before going custom. so its all gravy in the navy.
But the original problem is cant get a newer version of busybox running on Flame.E
It wont let us do it, always brick device.

Evil.

Thanks a lot for the quick update Lox
Works great for me.
Anyone can put the files on other mirror? Rapidshare says:

should i update anyways?
There is some problem in the CM addons binaries which you have in /system/xbin. For example, when I try to run nano, I get this error:
Code:
link_image[1995]: failed to link nano
CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE
Same error on trying to run powertop. I think it would similarly affect all the binaries in that zip.
EDIT: OTOH, some binaries like ssh and bash are running without problems.
@Lox_Dev Does this also have the Holiday boot splash screen? I wonder why the FRF85B I got from you had one. Did you put it there yourself or was it really included by Google?

Xrecovery with offline charging

NOTICE: This isn't my work. I've just followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=963162 to make it work on X8
All thanks goes to zdzihu for xrecovery and offline charging fix and to genyt and weissgold for their guide
For stock 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware (don't work with custom roms):
Installation:
1. root phone
2. install Busybox
3. download xrecovery with offline charging.zip
4. extract archive to SD Card
5. with Root Explorer put extracted files to /system/bin
Or install latest xRecovery with FlashTool 0.2.8
For custom roms you also need the files in /system/etc/semc/chargemon/ from stock ROM.

progress : after installed my phone get force close all app...i use offline charging floyo 0.015 on my floyo
Don't know where is problem. For me it runs ok
i have follow the instruction clearly...or it should be install the xrecovery files first from the attachment(that seems x10 xrecovery..if i'm not wrong) and then copy those floyo offline charging files?...for you it runs ok,but not on my phone.so wierd isn't it?
Yes it is weird. You don't need to install xrecovery it is preinstalled in floyo. You only need to put chargemon and charger to /system/bin and semc folder to /system/etc
yep...that was i'm doin' as your instructions...twice i try and unsucsessfull, the x recovery can't runs when i pressing the back button on booting...

Re-style your 2.1 Eclair: lock screen and launcher

For those of you who still use 2.1 eclair, but try to add a better looking face:
- agile lock - free - on the market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nanoha.SenseScreen&feature=search_result
- Xperia Active Launcher : working on stock, I am using it from 3 days already, no FC, taken from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187008 - post 30
Then, if you have cypress chip (but also Dx module for synaptics) - if you need dual touch module "ax8mt" by ANDyX, you may need this toolbox (by puppet13th) to install hassle free ( and also the other goodies: CWM, dual recovery, etc.) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117100
Reasons : If you use your device as a PHONE, as primary function, you might think twice on installing any ROM....but this does not mean it HAS to look ugly (especially teh lockscreen of 2.1.)...decision is yours.
Hope this is usefull,
Cheers,
I get FC when trying to use Active Launcher on 2.1update1..

That one was version 20, I believe. Trust me, on my 2.1. works this version. Rooted, JIT enabled, ax8mt module installed with the x8toolbox by puppet13-th. Donno if JIT has anything to do with it, or maybe Busybox? Thing is, it works.

I'm rooted with Busybox installed.. Just checked and it's busybox V1.15.3, maybe old version??
I dont have JIT installed or ax8mt. Might try updating busybox and installing JIT.

I have Xrecovery back. Busybox 1.18.4 installed, JIT installed. then...

Oh, one other thing, no idea if it is important or not.
I use link2sd and I have a FAT 32 ext. partition. So, when I installed it, automatically was moved (link) there. Maybe this way I don't have the conflict you were mentioning?
Cheers, sorry for that...
One theme
Guys, great theme done by AChep & D-Shel that works on stock, to restyle your X8, you can find here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1214655
Credits go to them, AChep and D-Shel who are doing a great job, again.
...Still, that agile lock screen really does the trick, in my oppinion.
Cheers,
how to return it to its original state?.,
Uninstall apk? Or go back to backup in order to remove theme?

Where do I Get the Latest pre-Built Busybox Binary?

I'm looking to install Busybox via the ADB method, I've seen various links posted on different web sites to the tarball of a pre-built Busybox binary for Android. However, none of them seem to point to a particularly well known or reliable source.
Furthermore, as the s5830i has an ARMv6 CPU, is it possible to use this binary from the official Busybox web site or is it not Android compatible?
http://busybox.net/downloads/binaries/latest/busybox-armv6l
Failing that would somebody mind please pointing me to the latest one that works?
"BusyBox Free" is an app you can get from the Play Store. Works great here, some apps that didn't work correctly on older busybox versions (those included with the ROM) function perfectly now.
Be careful with updating busybox !!!!!
On my Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 when I upated busybox I bricked my phone.

GermainZ - I never realised there was a busybox in the stock ROM, (I have an app that is complaining about no busybox so I wrongly assumed I didn't have it at all). With regards to "BusyBox Free" aka "BusyBox" in Google Play, unfortunately there are a few quite recent comments from people that have broken internet or bricked their phones with it. What version of busybox do you currently have installed and have you been receiving the updates via the app OK?

Taking into account also what Ruben has said, if the busybox commands or even options on the commands have changed slightly between differrent versions and the stock ROM is relying on busybox commands in some way then presumably this could cause pretty big problems.
I installed the latest version (1.20.2) to system/xbin. You need root access BTW.
Works like a charm.

Not instaling
Busy box isn't installing in my Xperia z ultra

[DEV Request] pre-rooted ICS stock kernel < Xperia U >

For those that have/can developed kernels:
We really need a decent pre-rooted ICS stock kernel for the Xperia U.
The current root hacks work, but are not proper.
They don't install BusyBox correctly and with it we lose the ability for advanced shell scripting.
My own app depends on the ASH shell scripting capabilities and is therefor only half functioning under ICS.
Since I sell it and make a little bit of money ($50 bucks up till now..) I want to offer a small incentive to make it fair.
And will reward a $10 donation for the person that can make a decent kernel in the next week.
I know.. it won't make you rich
It's just to make clear that I don't want to profit from your knowledge and time as it will help me and other ROM dev's allot.
Thanks!
I donate another 10.

Im not sure because I dont needed it till now, but with the Flashtool you can install root (with busybox) and you can install busybox seperately.
Got that message in Flashtool::
INFO - Installed version of busybox : BusyBox v1.19.0 (2011-08-14 23:46:58 CDT) multi-call binary.
LEDs-U-CTRL makes my leds being a rainbow ^^
Also v13 of bi4nary (?) works.
But yes, will also donate some bucks for a cwm kernel.

I know, but it doesn't do the job fully correct. I've tried this method and the Binary Root.
With both ASH scripting doesn't work after using these methods
besides this a pre-rooted kernel is a good starting point for more rom tweaking

could you just for the fun go into a shell emulator and type "ash" (without quotes)
it will most likely tell you " not found "
LUC does work, but the speeds are wrong, all blinking is ~10x faster then on GB as the speed-regulation script cannot function with ASH.
For now not a problem, but am working on version 2.0 which will blend from color to color.. and that one completely disfunctions on all ICS roots (not only with me, but also the beta testers)
