ok have done a search and no answers...
this morning my s2 running leomars latest 2.7.1 rom would not come out of sleep i could feel the haptic feedback like the phone was awake but screen was off. Was stuck, so restarted by holding down power button, it came on but was still not responding, force closes, could not do anything, after another restart it was pretty much unusable, but i was still receiving emails etc but the screen would not come on.
Next step restarted in CWM and flashed leomar rom again, this got phone working and all seemed well until I tried plugging into pc, and there was no usb notification, there was just a tone to notify that phone is charging. I tried different usb ports, also a different cable but no luck, and USB debugging was ticked.
Now i dont know if what happened earlier caused the usb problems but i can only assume so. I have also just wiped phone and flashed rom and still no luck, everything seems ok otherwise.
i am worried there is some issue with the usb socket itself on phone but was wondering if anyone had any ideas?
The only two things that i changed yesterday was fitting a new anker 1900mah battery and installing the locale app.
What kernel are you using?
I was on speedmod T41, after wipe and reflash back on CF-Root which is in base of leomar75 2.7.1 rom.
Try to reinstall samsung kyes drivers.

i will try but, there is absolutely nothing on either side to show phone is plugged in apart from the tone to notify phone charging. if it was drivers i would get a notification but there is nothing on pc, nothing to show there is something plugged in USB port.
On phone there is no notification at all, either with debugging ticked or unticked....I can even tick and untick debugging with cable plugged in which cannot be done normally.
Uninstall kies from computer
Wipe cache
dalvik
reinstall cfroot
reinstall kies on computer
attach phone, wait for drivers to install.
re test
If you are using MSI OR Gigabytesboards make sure charging mode is off.

update
from stock rom gone back to leomar using cf root, used titanium to restore the main apps, after much messing around i managed to get usb connected BUT it goes on and off and switching between usb and car mode?? i took cable out and it now and again switches on and off to car mode of its own accord, and i hear the sound notification as if the cable is put in but the cable is not in.
does this sound like a hardware problem?
update
done some more searching, and could be dirty/damaged microusb connector, cleaned a little with brush and can get a steady usb connected when cable is put in.....

I have CWM 3.0.8, and want to get back to the red recovery, so that I can flash a new rom on my fascinate. The problem is, that I can not for the life of me get my phone to show up on Odin. I have tried on two different computers. I have used Odin on both computers for this phone, so the drivers are all installed. Any ideas? The rom I have now is a force close nightmare. I would like to get back to something that is stable.
Thanks for any help,
Brad

Ive used odin before, I just cant get the fascinate to be detected by the computer. It wont even mount the sd card via the usb cable to transfer files. I got the phone in download mode, connected to the computer through the usb cable, but can not get the yellow "added" dialog in odin so that I can flash the .tar file...
Thanks for the help so far,
Brad
Maybe a stupid question but do you have Odin open before you plug the phone in.

You can also try to reinstall drivers or even odin check to see that you have odin 3 1.3 and maybe reinstall odin it can be found here in one of the forums.
I have tried it both ways, going into download mode, then opening odin, and first opening odin, then going into download mode.
Now, I have another problem. I was able to do a data wipe, which stopped the force close loop. I was then able to get my phone workable at least. Then, while resetting everything, I dropped it on my coffee table and the touch screen will not respond. The phone's soft keys work fine and i can turn it on, but have to do a battery pull to turn it off. I have tried turning off/rebooting, and again doing a data wipe. I don't know what else to do other than take it in, but I don't think that is possible since it is rooted
Hey,
SGS II without any reason turned off and didn't want to turn on. I had to remove battery and plug it in again. Then phone booted but only to Samsung Galaxy S II logo.
I reflashed ROM via CWM (is accessible). Cleared dalvik cache and partition cache. Nothing helped.
What more can I do?
I can't reflash phone via Odin because Windows won't detect phone which is in boot logo freeze.
Restore backup or factory reset/wipe ?
During making backup of current ROM I got error that making backup of /data was not possible.
I restored image from older time and it went smoothly. Then suddenly again I got such error after while I plugged cable to USB port.
hope it helps

try a fresh install.. it mean wipe data, cache and system.. download ultimate kernel cleaning.. and flash all new ones at once.. dont reboot if you aren't finished at least flashing ROM and kernel.. (flash modem : optional)
I made restore, didn't plug USB in yet. So far is OK. If not USB, why then restored system would have had failure too?
This could be totally unrelated, but I am just throwing it out.
Everything was working normally, and one day I noticed that USB mass storage was malfunctioning.
When I turn on USB mass storage and connect to PC, it only connect for a minute or so, then internal and external SD get disconnected without any warning.
When this happens, if screen is on I can see the USB droid turn from orange (connected) to green (disconnected),
but the phone completely freezes on that screen unresponsive. If screen is off, it just freezes with a blank screen.
I have to pull the battery to get out.
Factory reset, wiping, restoring to an old nandroid, using different cable, connect to another PC, nothing helped.
Then by accident, I connected the phone without external SD in it and the phone connected just fine indefinitely.
So, I took the SD card, formatted it on PC, put it back in the phone and tried connecting to PC. It works fine.
I have no problem with USB connection now, and I hope it stays that way.

Please can you assist me.
I've read through so many threads explaining that it is easy to fix if I use ODIN. However I cannot seem to get ODIN to recognize my Galaxy S3.
I was doing a factory reset on my device, which has Cyanogenmod installed. Upon rebooting, the phone is now stuck with the Teamwin logo and it continues to loop.
In cannot seem to charge the phone because it's stuck in this mode and when I install ODIN and along with the SAMSUNG USB Drivers. I have no luck with my computer recognizing the device. I am able to get into the Download mode by holding Power, Volume Down and Home buttons - I click Volume up to continue. I then check my ODIN screen and it never appears to say ADDED or anything of that sort.
I'm scared that my phone is going to soon run out of charge and then I will not be able to even attempt to fix this. Please help me.
I've tried the above steps in both Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 and cannot get either of them to recognize my device.
N.B. I have also tried different USB ports as well as different USB cables.
Once again, I plead for any assistance.
Can u go to the custom recovery ??
If so
Do a clean wipe
Do a factory reset (do not do a clean to install new rom, just erase your data)
Wipe your cache
Wipe dalvik cache and see if u can boot it up
Goodluck
Use the latest odin version and see
And why didint you take a nandroid backup before installing custom roms
If u took it
Just restore it
U will surely boot it up
Hi there,
Thanks for your reply.
I managed to solve the issue by using a computer which already had my device USB drivers installed.
The other 2 computers I tried didn't seem to want to recognize the device due to the bootloop - but when linking up to a computer which linked to my phone prior to the ordeal, ODIN then recognized the device and I was able to load stock rom back on.
FYI, I wasn't able to access recovery.
Thank you for your quick response.
i was flashing United Kingdom 4.1.2 I9100XWMS2 on odin, it started up perfectly working perfectly i then turned off my phone (not power off) and then when i went to turn it on again it was a black screen and nothing happened when i was pressing the power button, i took out the battery and put it in and it came up with the boot screen but it got stuck there so i took it out again did the same thing and still stuck on boot screen, i tried booting into recovery nothing happened, i tried booting into download mode nothing happened.
UPDATE: I tried going into download mode again, it came up in a red message saying LOW BATTERY!
UPDATE 2: Just plugged in a usb charger, offline charging working i guess it shows a big battery and green stuff at the bottom.
UPDATE 3: i got into downloading mode i tried flashing my stock XXLPQ 4.0.3 firmware but it got stuck on NAND WRITE START HELP PLEASE!!!
UPDATE 4: Nothing is working guys, everytime i get stuck on NAND WRITE START

Try to uninstall your usb drivers , the go here at the end of the first post (OP - this is Convert kernel zip to tar tool, but no need to do any conversion), download usb drivers and odin. At post #4 you have pre made kernels. Flash any kernel you want DorimanX or Gustavo in AP or PDA box and make sure re-partition NOT ticked. After a successful flash you phone will boot and stays at the boot. take off battery and insert again , power up with power on + home + vol up to enter recovery and format ONLY these partition /data& cache - dalvik cache, system, preload. Once in recovery, your will be able to mount usb or mtp device to recover your files and try flashing a custom rom!

hey dude i got stuck on zimage in odin, the problem is mostly the flashing part i am using kk-kernel-04-02-CWM-for ODIN.tar
(Gustavo Kernel)
It shouldn't stuck, try other kernels, doesn't matter that they are kk or lp. try other usb port, even another pc!
Edit: I forgot , try another cable! Flashing via usb cable there no room for error, so no faulty usb cable ports and corrupted drivers!

Assuming it helps, you will end up with a working stock device.....
You need to persevere with every step as many times as is necessary......
This guide has been written to help people in your situation. It is the ONLY guide you need to refer to as it contains every step you need to recover your device. Nothing else will work for this (other than a JTAG)....

Fair play...If you feel there really is no other option.....at least you tried....
Just beware, you *could* end up paying more for a repair than the cost of a working secondhand S2....

The phone has successfully been flashed with a few different firmwares since the bootloop started occurring. the phone will only power on when the cable is plugged in but it will show the samsung screen and then start the "Installing system update" screen and then instantly go to "No command" and then boot back to the samsung screen to repeat the process. download mode is accessible but i cant get into recovery mode to reset the cache or perform a factory wipe.
The cable is fine and the usb port on the phone let me flash software via odin so i don't understand why it only powers on with a cable plugged in.
Could this be a battery issue? i'm very new to this website and the software end of phone repair stuff so any help is greatly appreciated!
i'm currently running 7.0 firmware G890AUCS7DRF2 from boxwares but the bootloop has been occurring since before i even tried to flash anything.
Also, all of my drivers seem to be up to date so i don't think that's posing any issues.
Thanks so much in advance!
Hi , try to clean the charging port of your phone with 100% alcohol and with clean toothbrush also you can use needle to clean the usb port contact.
Another what you can do is to put your phone into the charger for abot 30 minutes and see if your phone is become to hot on the back side what can be sign of bad charging port or probably dead battery .
