Funny thing is that I actually had a Similar idea about this about Two years ago...
Just Never had the Skills to Create the application Myself! But my Twist was Instead of sending a Text, the app would send the actual Voice! So it would basically be Voice to Voice Texting!
Damn guess I'm to Late... WTF?

I thought of that too, but then, that would eliminate calling people in a slow way.

Android has some of Siri built in, the voice texting exists through Kakao talk and those things.

Sorry, but Vlingo virtual assistant does a boat load more for free and has voice to everything. Also in car control with a voice command wake up. It will even answer questions like, how far is the earth from the moon? You get the idea, 20 bucks a year I'll pass.

Try this out...This is NOT to be confused with Google voice search works pretty well has much of the same functions as vlingo and it is free. Only had it for about 2 weeks but been pretty handy

That function is included with Vlingo. I've been using it for a while, voice to text works great as long as the background noise isn't too loud.

Don't update. You can't turn off push notifications, plus it doesn't work for everybody. And if it does (which was the case for me), you're constantly barraged with them everytime someone posts on your wall or comments or likes something. And hitting "Go Offline" in chat doesn't take you offline either.
I had to restore a Titanium Backup of the older Facebook app.
I am glad they finally came out with this. Blackberry has been doing the push notifications for years now. I like to know when someone comments, replys, or wall posts immediately. I don't think it is completely efficent though. All it does is take you straight to your notification area in the app. You still have to click the notification again to go into the thread to comment. =/ Well at least it's getting there. . .

Yup. Even if you turn them off, they still keep going. It's a known issue. Besides, with push notifications always on, there is no use of having notification settings anymore.

I noticed this too. Even up until recently, when you viewed a friend's profile, it actually showed within the Facebook app. I'm not sure at which version it changed, but now when you click on a friend (let's say, because you want to post something on his/her wall), you are redirected to m.facebook.com in your browser.
I can't see going from viewing a profile within the app to being redirected to the m. subdomain as an "upgrade," so the only speculation I can offer is that maybe they're working on changes/feature enhancments in this area and in the meantime, they're redirecting to m.facebook.com.
I am, however, not being redirected when I go to post comments on a pic...

I know, I was quite surprised too! Even more surprised was I when this morning, it went back to going directly to people's walls. This was right after the update to 1.5.0, so for a good 48 hours, I was being redirected to m.facebook.com.
As of now, I'm back to seeing people's walls within the app. I'm guessing since it happened right after the update and only lasted 48 hours, it was either a "bug" (maybe DNS playing catch-up) or they intentionally redirected some/certain people to m. for whatever reason.
I'm glad it's no longer going to the m. sub-domain anymore...
*** I am in no way, shape, or form responsible for any development of this app. I am just a normal user who came across it and thought it was so awesome that I had to post it for everyone to try.
There is a new dialer/contacts app made by "CooTek" that is the best dialer out there IMO. It is called TouchPal Dialer and is free in the Market for a limited time. I recommend trying it out, I found my new permanent dialer replacement.

Just realized why I stopped using this app. When you miss a call you still need to go back into the stock dialer to clear the notification. Kinda annoying to me. If that was fixed this app would be 100% perfect.

Although I'm using this now thanks to the OP's suggestion, I'd like to mention that PhoneTell is another great dialer app. I still also use it.
Since I have LauncherPro, my phone icon in the dock defaults to TouchPal when clicked, and launches PhoneTell when swiped.

I am sure that many of you are watching iPhone's 4S new application Siri, your thoughts are "I hope there will be an app like Siri for my phone". Well you hope right.
Iris is the "Sister" of Siri, but for Android. I found the app from a post of one of my friends on Google+. Well, it was on French so I didn't understand a lot of what he was saying. I just saw the title "Iris, Siri pour Android", and then I Googled it.
I found it on Android Market, it's in Alpha version and it's update rate is way too fast. 2 updates in just 30 minutes.
The developer Dexetra seems to work hard for it. You can give it a try. It's FREE. Also leave a comment and rate the app to help the developer on his work.(By supporting him)

And here the app Description on Android Market:
"iris. makes your phone talk on topics ranging from Einstein to Mozart.
Yeah, Iris is siri in reverse. Inspired from the iPhone feature Siri, iris interacts with you in voice.
Gone are the days when you "Google searched" for information.
Just "ask" iris. She will talk to you on any topic. Ranging from Philosophy, Culture, History, science to general conversation.
Note: You need to have "Voice Search" and "TTS library" installed in your phone for iris. to work. Most of the phones have these pre-installed, if not please install them from Android market before you try iris."
Finally, the link to the App page on Android Market:

Thanks for reading!
Yeah, that's right! It's pretty obvious that Android pwns iOS in so many ways!

Hey Hey, you shouldn't blame someone for something. It's still in Alpha Version. It's true that it reports some wrong words like the word "kill". I asked "Do you want to kill me", and it reported "Do you want to give it to me" and then it answered "I don't think so".
I also installed it, but the app always says: "No speech input". I got Pico TTS and eSpeak TTS installed. Any ideas?

What I think is in the patent dispute is scanning "Plain Text" based emails (and text messages) for URL's and phone numbers and converting them to hypertext.
HTML based email hyperlinks still work.
Just go into the settings menu and change the max message size from 5k to the maximum and it will fix the issue. Had the same problem on my phone and it now works.
Only works for new messages, the links will not work in your old messages.

I'll bite: howz com y'all no likey this?
I understand that it must be considered pointless, given the unanimous scorn but, as an unabashed noob, I would like to know why.
For instance; there is a definite boost to the volume I get when playing music through my car speakers, using Bluetooth, and an equalizer app (so long as I use particular settings). Given that, why does it appear that no previous respondents to this thread seem willing to entertain the idea that the pitched (intentional word choice) app could provide a similar result.
I have no vested interest in this app: I have a great interest in the nature of the responses to the OP, however.
Thank you.

I can't speak for all these jerks, but to get an actual audio boost, you just change a few numbers in a single system file. I do it every time I flash a new rom and never have to worry about keeping an app open.

@DaemonAshra,
Would you mind elaborating on your method for me?
If you don't want to here, you could PM me.
Thanks.

Don't worry about some of the people on here. Just keep browsing XDA and learn some things. You'll find a lot of cool stuff.
