For the new google player (from BFH 2.2) nor for the stock music player there is no notification in notification drop down menu. So it can't be cleared. App stays active (red dotted)

What's up with the music apps? Whenever i hit the home button, lock the phone, or launch an app or game....the music stops. The stock player....Google play music...winamp...they all do. Any setting i can change? Or an app that does this properly?
Oops. Wrong section. Looking to get it moved.
Reported for moving.
It should keep plaing when locked or hoe but if an app or game calls on the audio they are going to take priority

That's the problem. I'm only speaking of apps that work fine with beyond pod and navigon mobile navigator. Is this a missing feature? I'd be hard pressed to believe that Google wouldn't go as far as to include background playback in a music app.

Probably you've enabled "No background tasks" in Developer Options -> Background Task Limit, make sure you tick "Standard limit"
If you start the music player you'll have a listing of your library based on artists, albums, music square, etc.
As soon as you start playing music the only way I've found to get back to that screen is to tap on the music square icon (which then takes you to the music square tab in the library view). However, if you disable the music square in the settings this button disappears and I haven't found a way yet to get back to the library screen except for enabling the square again...
That's somehow really weird or am I missing something?
Try the button in the bottom right corner

That button takes me to the current playlist, not the media library. Pushing the top right 'back' button takes me back to the player and not to the media library as I would expect.

are you playing the music thru the music widget? if yes, you will need to go into music player by go thru your app drawer. then press the back button until you get the 'all' playlist which allow you to choose sort by artist or album ...

get a 3rd party app like "zedge" and just download a ringtone version of the song... or "Ringtone Maker" from google market, that way you can make it a system file, versus loading up a 5 MegaByte when someone calls..... that will probably create lag.
I use PowerAMP to play my music, and they have a feature built-in to make a ringtone version of the current song you are playing - that's a good route too!
thanks i have downloaded ringtone maker but how do i use it? i cant find any instructions

select a song (the song you said you like) and it should bring up a graph.
Your going to select a window of when you want the song to start and finish.
E.g. Start 0:30 in... end at 0:45. It will save it in a ringtone format for you to select in Settings >>>> Sounds>>>

When you select the song, click the green arrow to the right and select edit. THEN the graph will pop up.

Is there a way to get the music controls on the lockscreen
It's frustrating to have to unlock the phone every time I want to change song.

I believe there are some threads about this 'issue'. Anyway, try a different music player. I believe Poweramp adds lockscreen controls.
edit:
Oh, and try to put questions in the Q&A topic next time ;-)
After switching the Locksreen from swipe to pattern, i have Musicplayercontrols, at least, when I have music playing.

With stock music player?
No, I use spotify. Tried with stock but that doesn't show up... Sorry.
Thanks for your replys
As I have discovered you can pull down the notifybar and access the controlls if you don't have activated any form of screen/security lock.
it's annoying that samsung killed this feature...
Wow that blows - Have you tried Google Music ?
From lockscreen you can pull down notifications which has controls in it for music

True, but then you have to manually keep the phone awake while driving and such -
I noticed this morning that my music player (Google Play music) is not showing up on my second screen when music is playing. It shows up initially for a couple of seconds, but then dissappears... Same whether screen is on or off. I'm on LP, rooted with Xposed running.... Any ideas?
This might be the fact that you don't know how to initialize the player to show up. You have to swipe right on the 2nd screen to get the player to appear. Also, Google Play Music purposely disappears after you swipe to it to prevent draining the battery or for you to accidentally press on it.

Thanks for the reply... however, that is what I am doing (swiping thru the different second screens) and the music player is not there. I've been using it since I got the phone last year... also, before whenever music was playing, the music controls were always one of the second screen displays (screen on or off) I could swipe to... now it pops up for a couple of seconds and then disappears. I'm pretty sure this is not the intended behavior as it would be useless and also is not what it has been doing previously.

If there isn't a section, then you must have accidentally removed Google play music. That app and/or another app is essential to keeping that function working. If you can't find this app that you deleted I recommend running a factory flash wipe.

Google Play Music is still installed... never removed. What other app are you talking about that may have caused this? Thanks!

OK, back in business! Since I only use Google Play Music for playing music, I used Titanium BU to freeze three other Music apps... I unfroze them and poof! the settings menu selection is back!
Thanks!
