CM7 battery - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Had CM7 on my phone and it was beautiful except my battery dropped like a rock. No rogue apps when testing with OS monitor. Used voltage control, cfg, conservative uv 50mv all levels between 100 - 1000. No oc. Am I missing something? Any suggestions? I need the battery to last more than 5-6 hrs. which is what I was getting. Posted this in cm7 thread but it moves along so fast that I received only one response so far.

Using supercharger script. If your on the stable CM7 Build download busybox from market and install 1.7.x version
Then use supercharger. Or it won't work
If you use glitch kernel theirs a recovery where you can enable screenstate which changes the governor when the screen is off.

Two questions:
1. Where do I get info on supercharger script.
2. I was using glitch kernel. How exactly can I enable screenstate?
Thanks in advance if you can help or anyone else.

1. Do a google search for v6 supercharger script you will be directed to it's thread on xda by zeppelinrox
2. Reboot to recovery-> find menu choice that say GLITCH. Turn on
Screenstate scaling and choose your sleep governor. profit.
Forgot to add v6 supercharger is not necessary if using glitch as most of the same mods are included in the kernel.

Random sluggishness?

Guys,
I am running the latest community rom with 1.2 oc and a not so aggressive undervolt. I randomly get sluggish performance. Try and fling/scroll and it will hang for two moments and then move.
Any idea why?

Sounds like memory management. A good unobtrusive app to use is process monitor widget, free in market. Let's you see & record what's going on.

Would a larger sd card help speed?
I've got the same thing, I've odined back to stock on up to 1.3 and it's no better.

[Q] CM7 + Franco's Kernel???

can i flash franco's kernel on cm7? and if so, will there be a significant boost on my phone's performance or the other way around?? thanks!
Check this topic mate this question already had a place here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097187
yes you can . i did and i like the performance
there seems to be a battery drain issue on mine though.
Install setcpu set governer to savezed. If you are using 3g for data than battery consumption is higher.

You mean frequency? You have to use an app called SetCPU which is free for xda members.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
You can choose the governor and Frequency.

That the tweaks are included means you don't need to do anything to enable them.
No kernel requires any sd card partitioning.
Yes, you can flash it via CWM. Just wipe cache and battery stats first.

Set CPU constantly granted super user permission?

I run the original cm7 rom with the infected kernel. I use set CPU to under clock/over clock to try to save battery but it constantly gets granted super user permission, and it will not sleep automatically. Any body know a way to fix this? Btw when I get rid of set CPU completely the battery life is worse...

You should not be using SetCPU with the "Infected" AnthraX kernels though. It doesnt work well. Try System Tuner or SysTune

Siyah

Im on wicked rom and siyah 2.6.6 do i need to flash anything else on to it. I heard people talk about battery scripts and all that. And changing the voltage and im not sure if im suppose to flash on a script or something. If there is something i need to flash then someone let me know. I just want a good battery thats why i choose siyah so maybe this script stuff is good. Plus theres not one theres mutiple scripts so then which one. Its all very confusing to me :? Soneone enlighten me please
Thks

Ask in the Siyah thread in the development section.
No you don't need cuz in version 2.6.3 we see
removed siyah-battery, siyah-defaults and siyah-performance scripts from the blog. please remove all existing scripts before installing this version (or flash your existing rom again to remove all scripts). use init.d scripts if you know what you do, otherwise use VoltageControl app or ThunderBolt! scripts. use this CWM recovery flashable zip to remove previous 01siyah script. just flash it once and /system/etc/init.d/01siyah script will be removed.

and for 2.6.6 you don't need zip for battery.
The scripts people are talking about are pikcahu's thunderbolt! scripts, you dont need to flash them if you dont want to, they can help, but performance/batt are good at stock values.
(Part of thunderbolt! is built into the kernel anyway)
Thanks guys so i should leave it at wat its at when i flashed 2.6.6

I would use voltage control myself, though with 2.6.6 it wont set max frequency correctly, that's supposed to be fixed next kernel version.

No.. undervolting is lowering the voltage at each frequency step
Underclocking is lowering the max frequency.
eg setting the max to 1000mhz would be underclocking
setting 1000mhz to 1100mV would be undervolting (just an example)
I havent even touched voltage settings i have no exp in tht

Need kernel help with Infection 2.9.1

I'm on Infection 2.9.1 and I also flashed the latest Hiro kernel. I downloaded Trickster MOD to change settings. I'm getting a lot of reboots but I'm also trying to save as much battery as possible. I have no idea what settings to mess with and what to change them too. My phone settings had a Performance settings where you can change CPU settings and I also have Trickster like I said, just don't know which to use. I think both are on which might be causing problems? I posted some screenshots, could some please help me get something going? - Thanks guys!

If your using a kernel app like trickster mod than make sure everything that says set on boot under system\performance is unchecked

OK I got that part but what settings should I use? I'm not good with kernels and these apps, changing voltages, etc. My phone has been overheating and boot looping a lot. I also want to get best battery life possible. I just don't know what settings to use. Also if I'm using trickster to tweak my CPU shouldn't the performance in my phone settings be shut off? I'm open to using another tuner app.

Make the sleep frequency be 384 (whatever the 300 MHz is) been running that way since launch of 2.9.1, no issues, besides the native tether (only buggy issue I use) and whatever else others reported, I assume. Never used the features that this report so I don't know.

There is an option in kernel tuner for it. Some kernels do not support changing that setting though.
Now that he released it, this is what I used on infection the past week when 2.9.1 came out. It works amazingly. On install it gives you options for sleep 2 wake and screen off frequency (I set mine to on and 384 with no adverse issues)

So this kernel will replace Hiro which I'm using now?
And you keep saying to change sleep freq to 384? I'm guessing that will fix my wake issues. What about fixing my battery life and boot loops?
Sent from my Infected Rezound using Tapatalk 2
Can anyone else chime in? This is what I'm trying to accomplish.
1. Fix boot loops
2. Stop the over heating
3. Make battery last as long as possible
4. Fix the wake up issues. When I press power button to wake phone the capacitive buttons turn on but the screen doesn't.
These are the issues that I'm trying to fix. Like I said I'm currently on infection 2.9.1 using lastest hiro kernel. I need some helping finding the right kernel to use and what settings to use with kernel tuner or trickster mod app doesn't matter.

That kernel will replace hiro. You can set screen off freq upon flashing in recovery. The below pictures is my current settings for the past week and only had one freeze (it was testing something out for the kernel before released). In the picture, screen off and idle freq are disabled as you change settings when flashing the kernel. (During install, aroma will ask if you want to do default or custom install, custom for more options.) Pictures are in thumb format so less space is used in the forum. You can change second core to something else. Lionheart is a performance based governor. I use it on second core with mpdecision having a longer wait to turn on core 1 for my personal optimal battery saving/performance. Core 0 is set for power save bias so only when I need speed, core 1 will kick on with some higher MHz while CPU 0 catches up a little later.
Battery savings isn't too great, but unless you are doing some CPU intensive stuff, it does pretty well on battery.
This is CPU times today... Mind you, I used my phone for a total of 4hrs from 530-1640. The reason it stayed at 192 a lot was because I just did texting, web browsing and some other low CPU intensive tasks so far today (about 20-30mins of awake time in 192 was screen off streaming a local radio station.) Ran buttery smooth though.
