How to restore stock recovery? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just rooted, I've got ROM Manager and I'm about to use it to install the ClockworkMod recovery.
If I ever decide I don't want it, can I restore the phone's factory recovery console? If so, how? And will the method vary as kernels, firmwares etc do?
Thank you.

As much as I know, ROM Manager does not work on SGS2. Please search for the "CWM" thread in the "original development" forum.

Then I wonder how I am to perform the same kinds of activities ROM Manager supports, like installing and backing up ROMs. Is there a GUI-based alternative?

Im also some what new at thia stuff.
First you should get your hands on the program called ODIN and also the cf root that matchs your current phones verison.
Thay way when you flash your phone tou get clockwork mod and then back it up.
I am sure others can get into more detail but as i said.... I am also new at using ROMS

First stop posting your questions in the dev sections, second you don't need rom manager to do all that, you simply need a to flash a kernel that has cwm recovery built in, that's what rom manager boots into anyway.

yes, as the previous poster has said, it's not a problem to have questions. Everyone here is really helpful, just gotta post em' in the right place. Q&A, question and answer section, is probably the best place to start. This section, Android Development, is a discussion forum.
- adb push iPad2post.apk to /forum/thread
Yes u can.
But there its a problem with clockwork cwm wiping so get the edited one that romracer posted here in the dev section. Also make sure to research the roms before flashing as some require att atrixs. Gl hf. And QandA section next time

[Q] ROMs flashable through ODIN?

Just wondering..
What ROMs are currently being developed here on XDA (both the original android & android ROMs sections) are flashable through ODIN? and is there a benefit to flashing through CWM?
Thanks heaps

flashing through odin you can flash stock roms from different regions and also litening pro...check the android development section and you will find the rom thread there. also if you are going to root do your homework first...
benefit of flashing through CWM is it makes life alot easier...ie flashing through your computer each time you want to put a new rom on your phone...all your answers are in the original development thread
Yeh..I've been using Lite'ning Rom (currently on v6.1) on my SGSII, but I wanna jump on android 2.3.5.
Any recommendations on ROMs that can be flashed via ODIN..and provides good battery life?
Stock 2.3.5 from Intratechs thread .

Do stock like JJe suggested and then just enjoy the beauty of it...give yourself a week trying it out and in between read through the original dev forums about roms and how everything works...each rom thread has guides on installations and how they work...if you got more questions feel free to ask me

can i root my s ii without a computer?

I dont have a computer. is there a way to root without it? My firmware is 2.3.4 and its kernrl is ki2. Thanks
I saw a thread a while ago, I can't find it now so you're gonna need to search, but you just put an update.zip in your sd, flash it in stock recovery, and viola - you have CWM (be sure to download a rooted kernel). Good luck.
If anyone knows of the thread please post links

Zips flashed with e3 needs to be signed and I think siyah is signed unlike many other roms and kernels so flash siyah and reboot to recovery recovery to flash anything, if you want to keep you current rom, I think downloading superuser is enough

Yes it works on ICS not GB Since devices come with GB then they'd have to use ODIN to flash ICS

you expletive, learn to read the warnings about ROM manager.
expletive you have a complete lack of common sense dont you?
I cant wait to read your next thread. I can guess the title:
My phone is stuck in a boot loop because I used ROM manager to flash CWM!
I have a good question for you.
WHY THE expletive DO YOU CONTINUE TO POST QUESTIONS IN THE expletive GENERAL SECTION WHEN THEY OBVIOUSLY BELONG IN THE Q&A SECTION?

I dont know what CWM Rom is, but you don't use ROM manager to flash your first recovery.....you flash a KERNEL with CWM built in......its like that for ALL Samsung Galaxy S devices....always has been.

ok so flashing CWM Recovery via ROM Manager what happens?
anyway to undo it? or is damage perm?
Wait if I'm correct after some in-depth reading..
flashing this.
Entropy's Kernel's with SU/ROOT enabled via PDA in Odin 1.85 on PC
should resolve the damage I did
I'm a noob, I flashed my first ROM last weekend, and even I can see that you haven't done enough reading.
If you must know without going through the trouble of reading, flashing ANYTHING that's not stock will TRIP YOUR COUNTER. Also, using ROM manager is a NO NO.
To avoid tripping your flash counter and also to avoid bootloops, install Mobile Odin Lite or Pro (attached to the OP of this thread). I suggest you thoroughly read that thread a couple times before doing anything. Use Mobile Odin to flash any kernel that is compatible with your current ROM and includes CWM; if you're running GB, second post here gives you two such kernels, and if you're on ICS, use this. Now you can load any CWM flashable roms/kernels/modems/what have you onto the phone, boot into CWM recovery and install from there.
If you've already tried using ROM manager, I have no idea how to help you or fix your phone. Try searching around, I'm sure there's a thread that covers that.

I have odin pro
first thing I did and I flashed..
a version of Codeworkx's kernels and solved my CWM issues..
However now.. I have a question to put in Q&A.
So mods can close this
Virus.. you continue to make these threads, and we continue to close them for a reason. Do not, i repeat.. DO NOT continue making these threads.
READ THE STICKIES. Your questions have been answered there several times over. If you do not feel comfortable reading them, you should not be flashing things at all.

You can make any rom light by debloating it with ROMCleaner from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827817. For out of the box light rom`s see Android Development thread.

Hi. Thanks so much for the reply. I have a few questions. Pardon me if I ask some stupid questions.
1. I can remove any bloats regardless of the ROM I am running?
2. What are modems? What can I get if I flash CWM modems?
3. I usually see Odin and Mobile Odin but I don't know what they are for and how to use them.
If you are running any good ROM, then you can suggest me Thanks again.

1. ROMCleaner is for debloating any samsung based rom
2. See item 4 in my signature for CWM flashable modems, modems are for connecting with your provider, are location/country based.
3. Odin/Mobile Odin are used to flash stock firmware,.tar/.md5 file based modems and kernels, see item 3 in my signature how to use Odin.
