I got a Telus Fascinate T959D.
I rooted using superoneclick v1.5.5 because i had no joy with v2.1.1.
Installed busybox installer from:
market.android.com/details?id=stericson.busybox&feature=search_result
I unlocked using the market app:
"Galaxy S Unlock,2.03,com.helroz.galaxysunlock"
on my T959D Telus running 2.2.
I had to use the 3 steps in the app because it only revealed FFFFFF for my unlock code.
So I am sim-unlocked. good. Now on Bell Mobility Canada.
If I upgrade to KG2 firmware using kies will it be sim-locked again? can I sim-unlock it? How? Are there threads about this? I haven't found any yet.
I havent lost my sim unlock via the Galaxy S unlock from various flashes on my T959D. Unlocked on a custom rom, odin flashed back to stock froyo to CWM flash CM7, odin flashed back to custom rom.
I gave my mom the phone since I upgraded to the SGS2, but the T959D now uses her Bell sim just fine.
Your mileage may vary.
still unlocked after upgrade
I upgraded to KG2 [ Baseband T959TLKG2 ] 2.3.3 Gingerbread using Kies.
It is still sim-unlocked.
Using it on Bell.
Good.

Hi, I just got a new Galaxy S2 but it is locked to O2 and is O2 firmware branded.
I don't mind wiping all data (since there's nothing on it yet), but is there a way I can change the firmware to the original Galaxy S2 firmware?
Or what is fastest?
I don't like all the preinstalled junk that has come with the phone, I'm not bothered about unlocking it since I'm using O2 anyway.

Flash a uk rom from here. I'm personally using KH3 with XEU CSC
Locked then you need to get it unlocked .
Debrand O2 in Dev section as well .
jje
Do I need to unlock it before I put the stock firmware on?
To unlock you need to root (use cf-root) then download chainfires unlock app from the market (may not work on newer sgs2's due to them being more secure)
You dont need to be rooted or unlocked to flash a newer stock firmware, there is a fully guide and list of firmwares to download from this thread, using any firmware from there will debrand the phone, try KG6 (older) or KH3 (newer) both are good 2.3.4 roms.
Hey guys, I'm from the HTC desire forum side, but im going to be rooting my friend's device. He's got the device from bell, but im wondering if i can flash the at&t stock rooted kernel, as i can't seem to find a bell specific one. Thanks.
No you can't use AT&T, for the Bell phone just use any international version kernel.
can you link me to a stock rooted international kernel???? thanks so much.
Here is the CF-Root thread

Will a SIM UNLOCKED S2 from O2 be firmware upgraded without any fear of locking it in the process.
My S2 was unlocked from O2 UK and I was able to do the update using Kies from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 so I guess you should be alright
Firmware flashing has nothing to do with relocking your baseband, so you should be okay ;]
So what are the cases when the baseband (the one responsible of simlock) is modified?
I recently rooted my old Captivate i897 after fixing it like i have 3 others already. But i noticed i have a Baseband version of i9000. Isn't it supposed to be T959? I used One-Click Root then flashed the UCKK4 CornKernel v705.tar with Odin.
Hi
My friend has UK 3 galaxy s2 i9100. It is sitting on stock ICS 4.03 firmware and It was previously locked but I unlocked it for him by rooting with CF-Root and installed an app Galaxy_S Unlock by helroz
It worked like a treat but now his phone is getting laggy and freezing so a re-flash of the firmware is on the cards.
I would prefer to flash the latest JB firmware for him but if need be will just re-flash current firmware and wipe to get his phone all good again
If I re-flash current firmware will I lose lock and have to re-do? or Can I even think about flashing latest JB and still be able to maintain unlock or be able to re-unlock it?
The unlock app says it modified nv_data.bin so is that just an option to backup the nv_data and restore it after reflash?
Appreciate any advice.. cheers
His current build is XWLP7 baseband I9100NELP3
