Hi everyone,
I got a Samsung Galaxy S Wifi 5.0 (YP-G70CW/XSH) I've gotten three different errors messages while connected to Kies.
1, This Version of the device can not be updated.
2, S/W version in your phone is not an official version. Firmware upgrade of unofficial S/W version is not supported.
3, Your device is up to date. (I know this is not an error, but I've only seen it once.)
My question is, why? I've tired uninstalling and reinstalling Kies a number of times. The best results I get it with Kies_2.0.0.11034_5.
Does anyone know what's happening? I would just really like to update to 2.3 once it's up for my 5.0

Mine cant connect to Kies at all!
Tried reinstalled and restarted 10 times!
Same here. Mine's the one that was on woot.com, YP-G70CW/TTT. I download KIES from samsungs site, it won't connect. I download the update it says is available, it won't connect. Welp.

I'm running JI6 which I got through Kies mini 2 months ago.
Now, I just clicked the KMini icon on my laptop and it says it's D/Ling a new version.
The old version was1.0.0.? something something? ...95
this new version is : 1.0.0.10104_1
What is up with this? Does this mean there is an update to my Vibrant or to the kies software itself? It says to plug in my phone but I'm hoping for advice first.
What happens if I do plug it in?

That was simply an update to Kies Mini and it could mean anything from a bug fix in the Kies software to getting it ready for pushing new updates. I noticed this update a little while before JK6 was leaked.

Where did you download kies mini from. When I go to samsungs site to download kies mini, it asks which model number vibrant I have, there are like 4 vibrant models to choose from. What do we in USA on T-Mobile use?

SV, I linked to it from here at XDA. I think it was in the Tips & Tricks sticky. It worked great for me. (This was after the OTA update wiped me out & I went & got a new phone...) But now, I don't see it there anymore. I have both kies and kies mini. They both worked fine for me; mini for the JI6 and regular kies for all kinds of other stuff.

It seemed to work well. But the xda thread said to uninstall it before installing mini, so I did. Might reinstall... Big program though...
I have a Samsung S2 (UK version), which is running perfectly. But whenever I check for updates on the phone, I get a "Connection failed" message. This always happen. But I have no connection problems. I presume that this phone simply does not update OTA?
I think that you are meant to use Samsung Kies to update the phone? I have downloaded and installed this software on my laptop, which runs Windows 8 Developer Preview. But Kies will not run. When I try, I get a "Kies has stopped working" error message. This happens every time. I have tried running this application in various compatibility modes.It never works. I presume that Kies does not work with Windows 8?
Assuming both of my presumptions are correct, is there any way that I can check for updates for my phone?
Stock Firmware + Root + Mobile Odin.
I too have a Samsung GS2 (unlocked, unrooted, Carphone Warehouse UK version). When I am connected by wireless to my router I have no trouble connecting to the server but so far all I get is, "No update available" which is correct as I have 2.3.4 installed and 2.3.5 isn't officially available for CPW GS2 yet.

Maybe depend s OTA updates are slowly rolling out you have to try .
Their is no a single UK product they are often network supplied and networks do not always update .

My reply was to inform you that I DO get connected and get a reply from Samsung server therefore your assumption that the GS2 cannot get OTA updates because your 'phone doesn't connect does not follow. The fact that the reply from Samsung server says, "No update available" doesn't necessarily mean that OTA updates cannot be had, only that at that time of asking there wasn't any to be had.
You also asked, "is there any way that I can check for updates for my phone?"

EDIT: To be clear, I am not saying that all updates WILL be available OTA just that OTA updates are possible with GS2.

i am happy to confirm that windows 8 developers release does nor support Samsung Kies.
I have a problem with updating my Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 the firmware that is on the tab is Current firmware version: P7500CEKH3/P7500PROKG4/P7500XWKG1/P7500CEKH3. I get on the begin screen "Your device does not support software upgrading via kies" Have some one a solution for this. Because i get no updates.

Can't you update it over the air (FOTA)?
If you check your device and hit software update, it should search for an update.
Samsung Kies often has a weird issues, try to either install Kies again, update drivers or remove old drivers and install again.
I had the same problem. I was stuck at 3.1 and was unable to get the thing to update. It took sending the Tab back to Samsung to solve the problem.
FYI, Samsung warranty service is excellent. The turnaround is very fast and they pay shipping both ways. I have found that talking to an agent is usually better than using their chat support service. The humans seem to be better trained and English is their first language.

I posted a GB stock rom a long while ago for YP-G70 5.0 international. See if this is what you are looking for.
Are you using 5.0 or 4.0?
I'm using 5.0. Are there sound features missing from gingerbread international? I've seen some posts that say the sound quality sucks when upgrading.

I bought the Galaxy S wifi 5.0 last week with 2.2 Froyo installed and was able to upgrade to 2.3 Gingerbread via Kies.
I bought my player about a month ago have used kies several times to load stuff on to the device, and it always tells me mine is upto date. Still have 2.2.2 on it, will check again today, as Samsung have just announced a new version in 4.2 screen size, and it comes already with gb on it. Are there any tricks to get kies to do an update or trick the phone into getting kies to do an update??
i just plugged my yp-g1 (eu) in to kies and it updated in 2.3 it has a update over air like all sensible samsung devices. first u have to change usb to kies in settings though

I am new to the site and want to upgrade to gingerbread BUT am having problems with both of my kids SGP 5.0.
I cannot get them to connect to kies at all.
I have the newest version of kies both players are set to kies USB and I have tried different cables.
KIES just sits there saying connecting
Any one have any ideas?

That said...
First, check if "USB Debugging" has a check by it under Settings->Applications->Development. It should NOT be checked.
Then, in Settings, under Wireless and Network, click on More... (your device might not have this step) and click on USB Settings. Kies should be clicked.
If it still doesn't connect...
[Note: you can drag and drop music, etc. directly into the device is you 1) check Mass Storage under USB Settings and 2) click the "Connect USB to Computer" when it appears (it might be under Notifications)
ASSUMING YOU'RE ON WINDOWS 7 (WinXP/Vista processes are a bit different)
Right-click that icon that looks liek a server with arrows going round and round in your System Tray. See status of drivers. If one failed, then that's your problem.
right-click My Computer and click on Manage
Go to Device Manager, then Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Check the status of the drivers by right-clicking and going into Properties.
If it gives you an option to fix it (or whatever), click it.
Otherwise, you might have to re-install the drivers. To do that, you'll need to uninstall the drivers first while the thing's plugged in. Then unplug and re-plug. It took me three tries for it to "get"
(actually, after this step on my device, I had to go back to properties, whereupon it showed the "fix (or whatever)" option under Properties and Driver Status.)

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 white (my brother) which I can't seem to update via Samsung Kies.
I mean I have a Galaxy S3 red (mine) which I updated via kies and I don't know why I can't update this one.
Anyways, the Galaxy which I'm trying to update is on Android 4.0.4 ICS
When I connect the phone to the pc underneath where it says firmware information it's written: PDA:LE4 / PHONE:LE4 / CSC:LE4 (ORA) but yet no update button. I'm trying to update the phone to the latest version

Wow that’s an odd issue indeed
Hum that is an odd issue… your right when you plug in your phone Kies should read it go online and then download the update…
Make sure you’re computer is connected to the internet.
Check your USB debugging and switch it to the other setting to see if that can trip it into upgrading.
Reboot the phone and computer (if you have not already done so).
Try a different computer? (this shouldn’t effect it though… I don’t believe Kies is phone specific).
If you connect to Wi-Fi and then search for an update does it say that ones available?
Definitely an odd issue and you got me interested.
If you find out what is causing it then certainly come back and let me know.
