Hi all,
1
I've been using Simple2Ext on CM 7.0.3 eversince i installed CM 7.
I was using a 2GB sdcard,partitioned 1,8GB FAT32/ 256MB EXT3.
Yesterday i've bought a new 16GB sdcard and partitioned it 15GB FAT32/ 1GB EXT3.
I've copied all data of both partitions from the old card to the new one and most of my apps are still working.
However when i try to install an app from market the phone reboots and the install fails, this doesn't happen with every app.
I've already wiped the cache and dalvik-cache partitions but it didn't help.
I also tried to fix the permissions using rom managers "fix permissions".
Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks!
Edit: I know it would be easy to disable s2e,clear the partition and restore a titanium backup but i can't do this cause titanium backup refuses to restore any backup since i've changed the sdcard.
It gives a parse error, and i still have to try to solve this. (didn't have the time)
Edit2: Nevermind,i've noticed Cyanogen 7.1 went from RC to stable so i flashed it,this solved my s2e and titanium backup problems.

Hello.
I just got an HTC Hero, and I've faced the problem of lack of space already.
So I read about this app, unaware I would need it (naive of me), while I was downloading the VillainRom v13, to replace the VillainRom v12 I had.
I flashed it succesfully. I installed the apps I had before. But now, unfortunately, I'm running low on internal space.
How can I move application to the SD card? Is there a tutorial that explains me how to do it for my phone and rom?
How can I determine if my SD card is fast enough?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
to move applications just go to settings>applications>manage applications and click on which ever app you want to move to sd card. Once you click on the app it'll go to a page which will allow you to move your app to the sd. Usually class 4+ SDs are fast enough
The question is that I have tried that... But I don't have that option!
I believe it is because I'm on the 2.1 rom, instead of 2.2, and that option was only introduced in 2.2.
welll, im not sure how to do it without wiping and starting all over again but,
if you make a nandroid.. then backup your sd card onto your computer(including the nandroid backup)
you could go into your recovery image and partition your sd card, swap - 32mb, ext2 - 512mb and fat32 the rest (it takes you through those settings step by step)
then wipe factory reset/all data and wipe your dalvik cache
then flash your rom (double check that the rom has a2sd).. and the rom will do the work for you!
i just did this with wildhero... its the only rom im 100% sure will do the a2sd for you

I was struggling with this aswell
The thing is my ClockWork Mod doesn't have that formatting option...
Does VR13 support A2SD natively? I believe so.
I use HTC HD2, Android on SD card, don't know how to use A2SD ?
Now i use Swapper2 to set Swap file.
I've rooted plenty of devices, flashed countless ROMS all the way back to Windows Mobile but this dern Aria is killing me.
This is a coworker's phone that I rooted and flashed CyanogenMod 7.
it's out of memory, of course, ClockworkMod version is 2.5.0.7. Rom Manager is the latest in the market.
First I tried to partition the card through Rom Manager which didn't work. It did format the card though.
Went into ClockworkMod and there no menu for partitioning. So... I put the SDCard in my Epic4G and partitioned it there.
The partition shows in Titanium Backup but no apps go there.
He's previously moved all apps to the SDCard, no partition, if that matters.
I've tried DarkTremor, didn't boot and had to restore, Tried S2E, caused EVERYTHING to FC. Tried installing new apps to test they still go to internal. Tried mounting the SDEXT in ClockworkMod, Same.
I'm out of ideas, Help!
Is the partition formatted as EXT3? AFAIK, S2E is not compatible with EXT4. Also, try to reformat with the linux tool gparted.

u can try a program called link2sd its free in the market.
Thanks, I'll bring my linux notebook and try to muddle through it.
I'm not sure what my Epic, IIRC it does have an official clockwork recovery, formatted the card to.
Do a clean install on his phone. Backup all his apps with titanium. Boot into CWM, format /system, wipe data and factory reset, clear cache, clear dalvik, install Rom, install kernel (optional), flash DT script, reboot (it will bootloop twice, this is normal behavior and then it will boot into android). Restore with titanium and all the apps will be installed to the EXT partition.
This phone is hateful!
Wiped everything, installed the latest nightly, flash DT Beta 04.
Rebooted started installing apps and they all went to the EXT partition. Yay!
Titanium FC'd in one app so I installed GAPPS and BOOM! The internal is filled again!
WTF?!
Open up terminal and type
Su
a2sd reinstall
Reboot (don't know if this is necessary)

I have s2e install on my aria and it runs flawlessly. I have all about 200 apps and my dalvik on my sd and still have 140mb available of internal space.
This maybe a long shot, but in cm settings, make sure "allow application moving" is un-checked and install location is set at automatic. s2e tricks the phone in thinking the ext is the internal space. I hope this is helpful. good luck.

Boot into CWM and go to advanced and then show log. see if you have any errors. I would personally do a partition wipe. If this works, from a running system, go to rom manager and do a fix permissions.
Ooo
Yes, from CWM, 4th option down. 'wipe cache partition'
You will lose only things that are stored in the cache. Similar to clearing cookies on a PC. Android will create a new cache upon next boot (which will take a little longer than normal)

Might be your sdcard. Backup everything and format it with SDFormatter then copy your files back,if you keep receiving errors about sdcard you could have a faulty sdcard.
You could also backup your data with titanium backup, boot into CWM make a backup of current ROM and make a fresh install of a new ROM, there are stock, CM7 and MIUI as CWM flashable zips for easy install in CWM pick the one you need, flash it and restore your apps with titanium backup (preferably only app not app+data as you're getting databases errors).
Make a backup of your new ROM in CWM once you finish setting it up as you want for precaution. Remove your old backup.
NOTE: If you install CM7 again make sure you have latest build (Internal: Alpha12 | sdcard: Final). Also verify the md5 of the download so you know its not corrupted.

Spoke too soon. TB still won't let me backup due to insufficient storage space. Now it says that my SD card is 200mb and I only have 1mb free??? I took SD card out and put back in, no change, reboots no change. Evernote is complaining too. WTF How can a card just go bad??
Laptop is saying the same. Considering reformatting and trying again?

You mentioned that you flashed CM7 sd image right? so you have to resize the last partition to the end of your sdcard. Last partiton is the one that will act as "sdcard".

Using easus partition master, resized the last partition to use unallocated space and nook said 200mb SD card anyway. I don't get it.

Used different software and partition resized. This time set up started which I didn't see before. All seemed fine, started adding some apps from the market since I have no backup.
Suddenly it rebooted and bypassed/ignored the SD card and booted into the previous set up. I powered off, removed/replaced SD card then booted but same thing. I started to post HERE and it rebooted with the SD card! Then it rebooted into the previous set up without the card.
Was.thinking of doing the internal install. Does this indicate a bad SD card or problem with nook seeing it? Considering a surface scan in windows?

It looks like because seems that the Nook Tablet unmount your sdcard or it unmount itself randomly, so if you are running a ROM from sdcard it's logical it will reboot because no system is found. Try with another sdcard if possible to know better if its a software issue or hardware sdcard issue.

lg gt540
i have root my lg gt540 with z4 and shows me "Sorry! Process system is not respondig. I can press force close or wait but wathever i choose appears black background please help. :crying:
my s3 is unable to restore nandroid backup until restoring data proses.
it will give error restoring data thus stop the proses.
already tried backup in internal & external memory but still fails.
my cwm version is 5.5.0.4 cf-v1.5
need advice & help.
i dont have problem with my s2.
thanks.
What a coincidence. I was going to send similar post . Yesterday I experienced the same problem. I wanted to go back to ICS from JB but CWM failed to restore data. Fortunately I had titanium backup as well, so I could restore all my applications.
The error message was "Error while restoring /data!". I have recovery.log if someone wants to look at it.
Use the same CF Root version and CWM to restore that was used to backup sometimes helps .

I used the same version for backup and restore.
Maybe you should try touch recover 6.0.1.2
It work fine for me
Can I restore my old backups with touch recover?
Try using advanced restore and reinstall the components separately

Yes backward compatibility.
Ok. Will try it in future. Already recovered all my data from titanium backup.
never had this problem myself, have you checked the size of the backups, if they are less than 700 meg the backup process may not have worked, was there enough space on your're SD card to do the backup in the first place?.
Try copying the backup to the other SD card, does it copy ok, if so try to restore from there. Seems to be there has to be a reason for this that you should try to get the bottom of.
My backup was around 3.5GB. There was over 9GB free space on sdcard and 5GB free on extsdcard. Don't think there was not enough space.
i have backup & restored in internal & external memory yet the restoration of data still failed.
in addition i have tried restoring nandroid by "advance restore from internal sdcard" step by step & still failed when restoring data.
noted that i have used the same version on cwm with my nandroid.
hope someone able to give me a solution for my problem.
i never have this problem with my S2.
Problem solved!
I have manage to successfully restored my nandroid backup by flashing cwm touch recovery 6.0.1.2 from this thread click here.
:victory:
Same problem as kakiboyer, except a bit funkier.
got the 64GB microSD card off amazon popped it in and it just just went. no formatting no nothing.
backed up my original stock image using cwm5.5 and saved it onto the external SD card.
then flashed supernexus build 5 which gave a problem with my external 64GB SD card when i turned it on,it said it was damaged and needed a reformat (not fat32 im guessing) either way the flash was fine, i just need to reclaim the stuff on my 64GB SD card.
I then tried restoring to my original image and then removing the data that way, but instead i got the /data error (hence why i'm here).
Same set up as kakiboyer by the way.
using cwm version 5.5.0.4 cf-v1.5
so when i updated to cmw touch 6.0 it now can't see the external sd card (only the internal one).
BUT when i flash back to 5.5 it can see the external SD as well as the original backups, all my music/movie files etc. on the external SD.
So since the OS can't see the card, touch 6.0 can't see it and i can't revert back to the original image; how can i get my stuff off this SD card?
Fixed it!
Slapped the sd card into my windows machine and ran "chkdsk F: /r" with F: been whatever the sd card is!
got everything back, it was extFAT so copied everything off, reformatted to fat32 and put everything back on.
Happy days!
-Just did a Nandroid Restore
-I had most of my apps linked to my SD card using Link2SD
-Usually after a CM nightly flash/CyanDelta update flash, I recreate mount scripts in Link2SD and I'm back to normal.
-None of the previously linked apps are coming back when I attempt to recreate mount scripts.
-In addition, I am unable to install Play Store APK due to an "Out of Space" error. I have over 22GB available on Internal.
What is the issue?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
