QuickOffice or DocumentstoGo? - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I've heardgood things about both apps. Anyone has a preference of the two? Which one has more bang for the buck, if there's any difference?
Sent from GrandAdmiral's HTC Flyer P512 using Tapatalk.

I've used Docs to go since the early PDA days and like it just fine. It works, is reliable enough I can run a power post on it, and it sprang't do "things" to my files to make them work with the software.

Docs for me.

Documents to go is the best bet. well for me

Sorry guys but I must respectfully disagree. My heavy use of Word and mostly Excel leads me to vote for OfficeSuite Pro 5.
...xoom posted...

office suite pro is nice as well
I just downloaded and it is very well put together

I like QuickOffice HD Pro especially due to it integration with Dropbox and other cloud services

I pulled this from the xoom forums, but it should really help you with your decision (i know it helped me).

OfficeSuite Pro for me. Very easy to use.

Olive Office is it for me. It opens files that Quick Office fails to open.

Well Amazon is giving Office Suite Pro 5 away for free so I'm going to give it a test drive to see how it works out.

I'm really digging Office Suite Pro. It's worth it. Easy with opening Office files and pdf files. Considering it was free makes it better. Looks like Amazon has it on sale as well. I highly recommend it.
And it looks awesome on the Flyer.

No go for Quick Office Pro Flyer
I have Quick Office Pro on my Bionic. It does come in handy. I tried to get it on my Flyer but Android Market does not show it. When I tried to install it from Amazon (free app of the day), it said that it was not compatible with the Flyer. It looks like I am stuck with Polaris Office on the Flyer.

I got it on the Flyer by emailing the apk from the phone to the tablet. It installed and works perfectly. Amazon's compatibility checking process really sucks when it comes to things on devices.
I downloaded Documents to Go, as it was the Amazon FAOTD today. I'm going to be trying them all against one another to determine the best for me on the Flyer.

Looking for Fellow Developers for Xoom Tablet Notetaking App (FlatNote)

I'm looking for some experienced Android developers to assist me with a tablet note-taking app. I'm open-sourcing it under the Apache license, but probably will monetize it on the market.
The general idea is to be able to capture a lecture or meeting's audio, and put in text, graphic, and handwritten annotations. Then, when you are replaying the meeting or lecture, you visibly see a waveform of the audio with notes, images, etc. below, describing what is going on and providing more detail.
Notes will be grouped into sections. The app will be designed for API level 11 or higher.
Let me know if you're interested.
Fantastic! This is JUST the kind of app I'll be looking to use. Let me know and I'll gladly beta test for you and be a first day buyer. Good luck!
If you build just the handwriting portion and create a penultimate-like android version, I will buy
I've been working on a notes application since my partner got his xoom last weekend, better beat me to it

+1 to buying it!
Sounds like a good idea for meetings too. Could you insert bookmarks for notes for the audio? So if you're browsing the notes you can jump to that section of audio?

I had to stop as I don't have a xoom yet, I was working on it all last weekend. It will definitely start out as only a text based quick notes interface, then expand from there.

That's the whole idea.
This would be a must have for any college xoom owner, +1 for buying the app
I'm having trouble seeing how this would be useful without an active digitizer and pen..
don't get me wrong, this could still be a very cool app and I hope you get it working
but I don't think I'll be straying from my windows tablet with onenote any time soon
if you got this working on the htc flyer on the other hand, we might have something I could use as my only note taking device for university.
I probably wouldn't buy the flyer anyway though. The xoom is just so much nicer
Edit: Before someone starts saying how I could just get a capacitive pen, you have no idea what you're missing until you've tried a wacom or n-trig pen(especially wacom). It's like night and day.

My roommate has a wacom... I know i can't compete with quality of handwriting on most hardware, but I can make the software easier to use. The easier the software, the better the notes will tend to be, plus I really want the audio to provide a lot of power, with the handwritten, typed, and other inserted notes only supplementing the audio and making it searchable/disoverable.
well.. I look forward to seeing what you come up with =]

i have a capacitive stylus for my ipad and it works beautifully for taking handwritten notes. Penultimate & note taker HD are the best ones imo
I'll buy the first app that rivals Penultimate.
I just looked up penultimate on youtube
it's definitely not bad
but it still doesn't rival onenote
not by a long shot
and I was surprised at well capacitive pens were working for people
but again, it still doesn't really come close to an active digitizer
now, I'm sure this app will still be great
and I could definitely see people using it to quickly describe something to someone or maybe for a few quick notes at a meeting
but there's no way it's going to be able to be used for taking notes at university
I'll stick with my fujitsu tablet
but like I said, I do look forward to seeing what this app will be able to do
it will definitely have it's uses
I've been thinking about making a note taking app myself it would be good to collaborate!

I've been "working on" a note taking app too I have drawn some designs for it and me and a few friends (all of us programmers, but no Android experience) are gonna try to get started on it.

He has the files by "secret magic trick", so I don't know that we'll get access soon. At least we know the build is out there, based on HC 3.2, and hopefully he'll tweet a little more about it.

Man, I'm also getting very frustrated.
1. The View gets no love from Hulu+ or NetFlix, even though the Flyer is officially supported.
2. STILL don't have the new Android Market, so I can't download movies on WiFi. (Since NetFlix doesn't work for crap over the air, I can't watch movies on the tablet.)
3. The pen is all but useless. If I could use it as a stylus, that would be great... but as it is, it's an $80 paperweight.
4. Still no $$**&## video chat in Google Talk. Grrr!!
In the end, my View is a $400+ Kindle. If I wanted an e-reader, I would have bought a Kindle 3G and saved myself the $200 on the purchase price, plus the monthly fees.
Are there ANY tablets on the market right now that work with Hulu+, NetFlix, and can download movies through the Android Market?

Uh, my View has netflix right off the market. Yes, the new market. So all that's missing is Hulu+ which I imagine is any day since the Flyer has it. Not sure why you can't have the first two though since it IS there officially.

QuickOffice Pro is free on Amazon

Just giving you guys a heads up. This like a $15 app, and it's free in the Amazon App store. I don't think you need to have the Amazon app store installed on your phone. You can 'purchase' it for $0, and it will be on your Amazon account. Here's the link.
Hell yeah, it's been a long damn time since a decent AppStore freebie hopped up.
And the honeycomb version of it is free as well. Here's the link to that one. Even if you don't have a tablet, I would recommend getting it. It will be there in case you ever do purchase a tablet.
Thanks guys, good finds. I grabbed both and I don't even own a tablet (yet) =)

hmmm, had it give me the "shell didn't open properly, do you want to retry" error maybe 4-5 times total. Other times it had to reload because android would close it for memory (when playing games). Had it on winmo, main reason I got if for android (and the big discount).

I would be interested as well, but for a slightly different purpose: I wanted to use Skype and be able to use my tablet as a whiteboard. The closest I got was to use [email protected] which allows you to stream your screen through USB. The only problem is that the sync speed is quite slow, at 10 fps.
The problem seems different than what you're asking, but keep in mind that the FPS limitation is due to Android's screenshot function, which takes 0.9 seconds for a screenshot.
I did some googling a week or two back and have been meaning to try android screencast - can anyone recommend it ?
Link to guide on androis screencast.
Would be v.useful to be able to have PC linked to projector in a meeting showing drawing from Flyer, the pen makes quick sketches very easy.
Well I'm not talking about a vid function, more like real time drawing on like Photoshop etc... To use this as a mouse...
I've tried what u are asking for.. but on my cellphone... Its quite handy if you wanna do a tutorial etc... But it's not as crisp as you want it, and not the smoothest... But workable!
But, again, I'm interested in a draw pad...
